The art of Meditation. The observer is the observed. Learning about Self-awareness. Real Meditation

I want to talk to you here about this approach to the art of meditation. What is Meditation? What is Real Meditation? Here, we have addressed this to you. Meditation is the awareness of this Being. This Being reveals itself when there is the presence of this space, a space of liberation from contradiction, disorder and confusion, something that thought establishes when it is present. When we free up this space, this disorder, this mess disappears.

We have no internal space, no psychological space. We are always occupied with something internally: the presence of a memory, a recollection, an image, something that comes from the past, creating states here, establishing states here, present in us. So, internally, within ourselves, psychologically, the mind is always occupied - occupied with the past. Our internal occupation is with the future or with the past, but it is an imaginary occupation. There is no past here, no future here, but thought is here, telling us about a future, telling us about a past.

We need to discover life as it happens, and as it happens there is no interpretation to be done by thought, which is what we usually do, and we do this all the time. We are always projecting onto life the ideas we bring, the thoughts we have, exactly these internal occupations in which we are involved all the time. Something happened to you yesterday and it is coming back here, at this moment.

Why is it that an experience we had yesterday is coming back here, at this moment? First, before all else, how does it come back? It comes back as a memory, it comes back as a recollection, like those images; and notice that all these memories that come back, come back because they are not complete. If I upset you yesterday, you will remember that today. If I made you happy yesterday, you will remember that today. I created a provocation: either I upset you or I made you happy.

And why is this memory here, coming back? Because this memory has taken on a great importance for "me." What is the truth of this "me"? What is the truth of this "I"? Why does it value memory? Why does it value remembrance? Why is all this value present, which is the value we have given to thought? The answer is that this "me," this "I," lives on thoughts.

The person you are, the person you believe you are, the person you feel you are, cannot live without memories, cannot live without remembrances. We are constantly in this movement of continuity of the story that was, which is memory, and we do this when we hold on to thoughts. And these thoughts are coming back and repeating themselves because that experience we went through was not completed. This sense of "I" still wants the continuity of that, still seeks the continuity of that, because it survives in this way.

Note the implications of what we are putting here for you. If you retain images of pleasure, you also retain images of pain. This "you" is this present movement of inattention. We do not know what it is like to deal with this moment, allowing this moment to be completed; we do not know it because, in general, we are inattentive, always placing the sense of an experiencer within this moment to experience this experience. And this experiencer records this experience, keeps this experience to continue living in the past, living in these experiences, living from these experiences - this is the story of the "I," of the ego, it is the story of this person.

The cultivation of this quality of psychic life, of psychological life, which is the quality of memory present in us, I have called psychological memory: it is the memory that gives continuity to the "I," that gives continuity to the ego. Thus, we are preserving the continuity of the past and projecting it into the future. All this internal movement present in us of consciousness is a conflicting movement, creating and generating conflicts, problems, confusion and suffering, because we are established in the illusion of an identity that sees itself as the center of its experiences, which are experiences of memories, which are experiences of the past.

We live internal states that we do not know how to deal with, such as, for example, when someone offends me, and I cannot free myself from this pain, this discomfort, this unease, this suffering; I cannot do so because I am constantly in this model of inattention, cultivating memory, cultivating the past. When someone compliments me, I feel happy with him or her and I keep this compliment, so he or she is now my friend.

"I love those who accept me, praise me, applaud me, agree with me, and I reject, detest, hate and separate myself from those who do not accept me, reject me, do not like me." This sense of "I," of the ego, the presence of someone - of this someone that I am - lives within this pattern of behavior. This is present because of the presence of the past. The past is person's life.

What is this encounter with the Truth of this instant? It is an encounter with a moment where there is such complete Attention to everything that happens that, in that instant, we do not register it; and when there is no registration, there is no strengthening of this center, there is no memory record for this ego, for this "me" to maintain any continuity, because in this Attention the "I" is not there; since there is no sense of "I," since there is no inattention, there is no record, this does not perpetuate, it does not give continuity to the past.

This contact with life at this moment requires an encounter with the end of the experiencer, of the thinker, with the end of this ego, with the end of this "I." This way of approaching this moment requires Attention. This Attention opens up this vision of comprehending this entire movement, which is the movement of the continuity of the "I." Truth revealing itself here as it is, is the presence of Meditation. Once this Attention is present, we have the Truth of Self-awareness; this is when this space arises. It is the space that makes possible a vision of this moment without record.

Can we live this life without the illusion of this "I," without this element that comes from the past? Can we live our lives, at this moment, free from the past, free from memory, free from this praise I received, free from this criticism I received, free from this idea of ??friend and enemy? What does life mean here and now, without the "I," without the ego? This requires learning about Self-awareness, this requires discarding this ego identity.

Contact with this instant, when we pay attention to whatever is happening here, in this attention we eliminate this separation, which is the sense of someone being an experiencer. There is the experience, but since there isn't this someone, this experiencer, the truth of this encounter with the moment is an encounter with the experiencing. In this experiencing, since this attention is present, this situation is complete, so there is no record, there is no sense of this "I" wanting more of that, wanting the continuity of that experience, whether of pain or pleasure. This is the contact with life in this instant, in this state free from the ego; this is the presence of Meditation.

Meditation is the awareness of the Truth of the instant, of the moment, without the thinker, without the experiencer, without the observer. Thus, the observer is the observed thing itself, there is no separation, so there is no such observer, no such experiencer. When that which is present is the only Reality, because there is no division, no separation, no difference between the observer and the observed thing, the Reality of the moment reveals the awareness of this Being.

Thus, Meditation is not about crossing legs, breathing in a certain way and chanting a mantra, or trying to push your thoughts away. The Truth of Meditation is the approach to this moment free from the past, it is the approach to this moment free from this "I," this experiencer, this meditator. Life is something present in this instant, no interpretation, no evaluation, comparison, judgment, acceptance or rejection is necessary. It is exactly when the sense of "I" arises, in this inattention, that this record happens, this memory remains and we thus have this continuity of the ego.

An encounter with life in this moment is the Revelation that Life is the only Reality present. If this sense of separation is not there, if this sense of "I" is not there, then Something is present. This Something is indescribable, it is unnameable, it is of great beauty. It is the presence of Real Bliss, the Truth of this Being, when there is Real Meditation present.

Can we attend to life as it is? This attending to life cannot come from someone, it is Life attending to Itself, it is Life aware of Itself. So, the Reality of this Being, the Reality of That which is You in your True Nature, is the Truth of God, which reveals itself when there is Real Meditation. This is a playlist here on the channel. There are two playlists that I want to recommend to you: "Learning about Self-awareness" and "Real Meditation in practice." Real Meditation is Meditation in practice. There is nothing more important in life than the awareness of this Being, which is the awareness of God, which is the Truth about Life.

A life free from the ego, a life free from the past is a life free to respond to this moment through this Intelligence, which is Divine Intelligence, which is the Presence of Wisdom, which is the Presence of Truth. When Love is present, everything is present: Intelligence, Truth, Beauty, Freedom, Bliss. All of this is the Nature of your Being, all of this is the Nature of God, all of this is the Truth of Love.

Here, in these meetings, we are delving deeper into this with you. We have the opportunity, together, to investigate this in online meetings on the weekends. We have two days together, Saturday and Sunday, to work on this. You can find our WhatsApp link for these online meetings on the weekends here in the video description. In addition to these meetings, we also have in-person meetings and retreats. If what you just heard makes any sense to you, here's an invitation. Give your "like," subscribe to the channel and leave a comment saying, "Yes, that makes sense." Okay? See you soon. Thanks for the meeting and see you next time!

Joel Goldsmith | Living Now | How to free ourselves from suffering? | Marcos Gualberto

GC: Hello, everyone! We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto is here with us. Thank you, Master, for being here. Today I am going to read an excerpt from a book by Joel Goldsmith called "Living Now." In an excerpt from this book, Master, Joel makes the following comment: "The more we live with it, the less we look at the body and the less we fear our pains and sufferings." In this excerpt, Joel comments on the issue of suffering. Can the Master share his vision on how we to free ourselves from suffering?

MG: Gilson, here we come across a very frequent question. but what is suffering? Who is this element present in suffering? If, in fact, we want to discover the truth for the end of this psychological condition - because let's comprehend one thing: suffering is based on this psychological model that is, in fact, the existence of the "I," the existence of this "me," of this person. It is the psychological condition of this sense of being someone that sustains suffering.

There is a difference between physical pain and a psychological condition of pain. This psychological condition is the condition of suffering. When you have physical pain, it is pain in the body, in some part of the body. Yes, this pain is a form of suffering. When we touch on this issue of suffering, suffering in this psychological condition in which we, as human beings, find ourselves, is the suffering of the mind, it is psychic suffering, it is this psychological condition present in the "I."

You ask how to get rid of suffering. By getting rid of this psychological condition, which is the condition of an identity present in life, at this moment, as a separate element of life itself. The condition of suffering needs to be studied, investigated, comprehended. When you have a physical illness, you take it to the doctor for treatment, for him to attend to this issue, but when you have an internal condition of suffering due to fear, mental confusion, the fact that thoughts within you are running fast and producing various forms of internal disorder - such as, for example, anxiety, guilt, depression, or various other forms of fear - dealing with this requires the presence of a direct comprehension of how this occurs, of how it happens.

You, in your Essential Nature, in your Real Nature, in your Divine Nature, are something, in fact, beyond this. something truly beyond this psychological condition, which is the condition of the "I." So, what is interesting here, is to understand what this "I" is, to understand what this condition is in which we find ourselves, with which we are confused, in order to go beyond this internal condition of suffering. So, the awareness of comprehending this is the Truth that liberates. It is not the desire to be free that liberates, but it is the Truth that liberates, it is the investigation of the Truth, it is the understanding of the Truth, it is the awareness of the Truth.

What do we need, Gilson, for this liberation? What do we need for this vision of life free from suffering? We need to have an approach to what is happening to us, to what we are, without denying, without running away, without creating theories or beliefs about it. We have just stated here, for you, that the Reality of your Being is not this, but you cannot take a statement like this and simply believe it. Based on statements like these, people start to get attached to concepts, ideas, and beliefs. So, they talk about this Divine Self, this Higher Self, this Supreme Being, but this remains only at the theoretical level, at the level of words and, therefore, of beliefs.

Here, we need to come into direct contact with what we are, with what we present ourselves to be, with the condition in which we, truly, in fact, find ourselves here. How are you at this moment? So, we put theories aside, we put beliefs aside. This Truth of this Bliss of Being, this Freedom of Being, yes, it may have already happened for A, B or C, but for "me," for this "I," at this moment, I need to investigate what is causing this pain, what is causing this suffering. See, more than the cause of the suffering itself or the cause of the pain, I need to discover the root of all this. Why is suffering here? What is this "I" that suffers? This is how we get closer to the truth about the end of suffering, Gilson. It is about comprehending this present element and the condition in which it finds itself in this relation with the present moment, with life as it happens.

We can look at fear here, jealousy, annoyance, contradiction, envy... We can look at this conflict established within us, due to the presence of desires that contradict each other. Investigating what is happening here, inside each one of us, looking at it, this is how we can break with this condition, break with this quality of life centered on this "I." Here, we are showing you that it is exactly this movement of life centered on the "I," where all of our behavior is egocentric behavior, where we are constantly repeating patterns of life, of existence, where all of this behavior in us, of ego-centeredness, is creating problems for this "me," for this "I" and, naturally, for others, for the world.

Every problem in the world concerns this problem of the "I" itself. And what is the truth about this "I"? We are dealing here with an imagination, with a construct of thought, with a condition of repetition of thought, which has given each one of us a pattern of mind that is programmed, that is conditioned, that is living within a cultural model. This human culture, this social culture, this world in which we find ourselves, lives like this, and we are just repeating it, replicating it, giving continuity to all of this.

So, what can put an end to this condition? It is the awareness of the truth about who we are. The comprehension of this entire process of "I" consciousness, of egoic consciousness. This vision of how the mind works here, in each one of us, shows us this entire pattern of egocentric activities, of behavior centered on this false identity. Wherever there is the presence of this egocentrism, this model of ego-identity, there will be a constant separation between you and the other, between you and life, between you and Divine Reality. This is the root, the true cause of suffering, but no theory about it can solve it. It is necessary to learn to look at this, to look without the past, to look without conclusions, to look without condemnation, rejection, to look without even the desire to get rid of it, since this desire to get rid of it is still part of this conditioned mind.

That is why we have been talking to you here about the presence of Meditation, which is the real way to approach the Truth about who we are, through Self-awareness. Thus, Meditation is Self-awareness. Self-awareness is Meditation. We are facing a single movement; discovering the Truth about oneself requires Self-awareness, requires Meditation.

We have a playlist on this subject here on the channel: "The Truth about Self-awareness and Real Meditation in a practical way," then you can take a look here on the channel. Comprehending the truth about oneself is the basis for the end of this suffering, because it is the end of this "I," it is the end of this ego. This is the answer to your question, this is the answer to the awareness of Bliss, to the awareness of Freedom, to the awareness of God.

GC: Master, we have a question from a subscriber here on the channel. He makes the following comment and asks: "The ego is strong and when we least expect it, it comes back in full force. What can you tell us about this? Gratitude."

MG: Gilson, notice what an interesting thing we have here. He says, the questioner here puts it this way: this statement "it is strong and comes back in full force." What is the element, Gilson, in us, that has conclusions, and on what basis are our conclusions? Don't they have a basis in experience, and isn't this basis also part of thought? What is this element of experience? And what is this element that has conclusions based on thoughts? Isn't it the movement of thought itself, which is the movement of the "I" itself? See, Gilson, one of the main things here is to learn to look at these reactions without conclusions, without ideas, without concepts, without beliefs.

As long as we are stuck in conclusions, beliefs and ideas, we will still be within a mistaken vision, which is the vision of thought itself. When you ask: "What can you tell us about this?"... We are here to present it to you! Any idea about the "I," about the ego, the idea that it is weak, that it is strong, that it goes, that it comes... any idea, any of these ideas, are ideas of thought itself. Getting closer and looking requires a look without conclusions, evaluations, beliefs, deductions and concepts, since these beliefs, concepts, deductions, conclusions, are born of the "I" itself. This is still the result of thought itself.

So, what is the real way of being in this moment, of facing this instant? In this case, in front of this experience? Looking! It is looking without someone in that look. It is perceiving! This perception is a perception without someone in that perception. It is feeling! In this feeling, it is the feeling without someone in that feeling. Obviously, this sounds quite strange to most of us, because we are always putting the intention of getting rid of it, the intention of doing something with the experience. This intention arises from the past and, therefore, arises from this very element, which is the element "I," which starts from conclusions of what is and what is not, of what is right and what is wrong.

So, can we discard all of this? This is the true way to approach Self-awareness, this is the true way to approach Meditation. Then, we can have the end of this psychological condition, which is the condition of this "I" and all these beliefs related to it, to this sense of this "me," this ego. Confusion arises because thought itself separates. Thought creates this thinker to look at thought from these conclusions, these opinions, these beliefs, and all of this is still within the movement itself, which is the movement of the "I." Letting go of this requires looking without the observer, this perceiving without the perceiver, this feeling without someone in that feeling. Then, Something new emerges. This new Something is the end of the "I," it is the end of the ego, it is the end of this illusion of separation between Reality and You.

GC: Master, we have another question from another subscriber here on the channel. Monica asks the following question: "Why is love false? How is it that we have no love to give?"

MG: No!. It seems to me that most of us have not comprehended this issue of Love. Love is not false, it is the sense of someone present in this love. The Reality of Love is Divine Reality! The sense of this "I," this ego, this "me," lives in a model of isolationism, of egocentrism, involved with its own self-interest. This whole movement of the "I," of the ego, is not the movement of Love, it is the movement of the search for something. The ego has no Love to give. The sense of the "I," the sense of the ego, lives in isolation, in a sense of separation, always looking outside in search of something. The ego in us, Gilson, is a beggar. Love is the presence of a generous king, and this generous king in Love is the Divine Presence, it is the Presence of God, it is the Presence of Truth. This sense of person, in this relation with the other, is associated with a business relation, an exchange: if I give you pleasure, you give me pleasure. In this pleasure, in this fulfillment of mutual satisfaction, we feel affection, care, while this is happening. The moment you deny me this pleasure - also this affection and care, I feel resentful, hurt, sad or angry with you.

The model of the "I" is a model of relations between images; these relations between images are business! The human being lives within a model, in this sense of the ego, of projection of search in the world out there, always for something. So, there is always this dissatisfaction, this incompleteness. The Reality of Love is the Divine Reality; when It is present, this "other" no longer exists. It is the Reality of God, it is the Reality of Truth. We have to comprehend the classic difference between the present Divine Truth, which is the presence of Love, and what we have called "love," which is in reality something filled with possession, control, dependence, attachment, desire, and fear. What we call love is associated with this acknowledgment, acceptance, pleasure, and satisfaction in this relation with him or her, but it is also filled with control, possession, attachment, desire, insecurity, fear, jealousy. suffering!

The Reality of Love carries none of this. It does not carry conflict, disorder, dependence, lack, or suffering. When there is this real awareness of Truth, of Freedom, when there is this Real awareness of Bliss, this is the Presence of your Being, but it is not the presence of this "me," this "I," this ego. The Truth about what you are in your Divine Nature, in your Essential Nature, is the presence of Love, but this Love needs nothing; It seeks nothing, It depends on nothing. It is like that flower that perfumes, but without any idea of ??being there, bringing its perfume. This sharing of the Divine Presence, of the presence of Bliss, of the presence of Freedom, is the presence of Love. This is something present in those who have realized the Truth about themselves, in those who are free from this sense of separation between themselves and life.

So, when the Truth of your Being flourishes, you are Love. It is the presence of this flower, it is the Presence of this Divine Reality. This is the Freedom of God, this is the Freedom of Bliss present in this Self-Realization, in this Awakening of Consciousness, in this Divine Vision, which some call Spiritual Enlightenment. To assume this in this life is to assume the Truth for which you were born. You were born for Love, you were not born to search, to seek, to want based on feelings, emotions, sensations. The Truth of this Divine Reality is something indescribable, it is something that is beyond everything that thought knows, beyond everything that feelings and emotions can identify.

Our great confusion lies in confusing this feeling, thinking, emotion, sensation. something present in this body and mind, when we identify it as some kind of satisfaction or pleasure with the presence of Love. Love is not pleasure, love is not a sensation, love is not a wish fulfilled, love is not fulfillment in him or her. Love is the presence of That which is indescribable. It is possible to realize this, but never describe it. It is possible to assume this in this life, but never put it into words, such is the singularity, such is the Beauty of the presence of this Grace, of this King, of this Truth, which is the Truth of God, which is the Truth of Love.

GC: Gratitude, gratitude, Master. Our time has come to an end... Gratitude for yet another videocast. And for you who are following the videocast until the end and truly have a sincere desire to experience these truths, and for whom what Master Gualberto is sharing makes sense, I invite you to participate in the intensive weekend meetings that the Master shares. In these meetings, which are held online, in person, and also as retreats, Master Gualberto, in addition to answering our questions directly, live, something much greater and more profound than that happens. Because Master Gualberto already lives in this Awakened State of Consciousness, he ends up sharing a State of Presence that is pure Power and Grace. And in this energy of the Master's Presence, just by being in His presence, we end up riding along with this energy of the Master's Presence. And this Presence is pure Silence, pure Stillness, pure Meditation. So, it is truly revealing to be able to be in Satsang - which is the name of these meetings - and to be able to have a vision of what is beyond intellectual understanding. So, here is the invitation. In the first pinned comment there is the WhatsApp link to participate in these meetings. Give a "like" to the video and subscribe to the channel. And Master, once again, thank you for the videocast.

What is thought? Self-observation. Our self-image. The sense of duality. Dualistic mind.

Here with you we are investigating how to free ourselves from this sense of "I," from this egoic sense. This is a liberation from this whole structure, which is the psychological structure of the world. This psychological structure of the human mind, of mental conditioning; this is the psychological structure of society, of the values ??of the world. Unless there is this liberation, this release, the end of this condition, we will continue to be stuck in this old model of this sense of "I."

First, before all, what is this "I"? In the ancient theaters, that mask was worn by the actors, they called it persona. Persona is a Latin word for person. So, the person that we are is actually this character. This personality in you is not the Reality of your Being, it is the truth about you as a person, like a mask. So, over time the word persona has taken the place of the person.

The person is the persona. The Reality of this Being is not this persona, it is not this person. This person, this persona is the "I," this "me," this "ego." When we are proud of the person we are, our pride is the pride that thought sustains over the image it makes of itself - this is pride. We are faced with something that is illusory, that is based only on imagination, on a movement of image constructed by thought.

Unless we free ourselves from this psychological condition of the person, from this "I," from this self-image, we will never know the Truth of God, the Truth of this Being. There is no real separation between that which is Truth, Reality and this Being. Thus, there is the truth of the person, the truth of the person's life, of this character, of this mask, and there is the Reality of Divine Life. Discovering the awareness of your Being is coming face to face with the Reality of God.

Every response we have to life based on the person we are, show ourselves to be, seem to be, who we actually express by being here, at this moment, the truth about this is contradiction, conflict, disorder. We are violent, aggressive, possessive, domineering, ambitious creatures. We live within a model of separation, of duality. The sense of duality is present in this dualistic mind.

The mind in duality is the mind that has created separation between this thinker and thought, between this experiencer and experiences, between the one who sees and what one sees, that is the observer and the thing observed, in this dualistic mind, in this mind in duality, which is the person. Life is not dual. There is nothing that can be separate from Life. Since Life is the only Reality, everything in it is itself. There is no such thing as "I" and "not I," this "I" and the other, this "I" and Life.

This "I" is a false center, it is a construct of thought. Thought has built this on the basis of memory. Notice how important this is to be understood here, because this involves the question of thought, the truth about thought, the question of what thought is. Notice how important it is to understand this.

When you have experiences, these experiences are stored in the brain, registered in the brain as memories. When you go through experiences, you have memories of them, remembrances, recollections about them. These recollections, remembrances, are images established in the brain about what happened. Here lies the presence of thought. So, what is thought? Thoughts are these memories, these recollections.

When I meet you, I remember your name and also your face. The next time I meet you, I can recognize you; this recognition is a recognition of memory. Only the brain is in this recognition because of this process of bringing back remembrance. So, thought is basically this: it is just memory, it is remembrance.

We do not know how to deal with thought in a real way, because thought does not remain only at this level. It goes to another base, to another line, to another level, which is the level of psychological support of an entity present in this memory. This entity in the memory is an imagination of thought. And who is the person who is remembering? There is no person remembering, there is only memory. But thought created a person, created this "I," this me: this is our self-image.

We need to understand this issue of self-image, because this self-image is a fictitious element, created by thought; and all that thought does from this self-image is to give an ever greater formation to this self-image, accumulating it with greater experiences, knowledge and memories. This self-image is the presence of the experiencer; it is the presence of the thinker; this is the element in the mind that is present sustaining this separation. This element is the "I."

The way you deal with experiences from this "I" is a way in which this "I" is the most important element at that moment. Thus, there is this self-centeredness. Since there is this separation, in this separation, contradiction, violence, fear, aggression, this suffering of anxiety, this suffering of anguish, this desire to possess, this desire to free oneself are established. All of this is present with the presence of this "I."

This is a typical behavior in this egocentrism, in this sense of person - this is the person. However, this person is not real, he assumes this truth of being from this self-image. We are not dealing with Reality, we are dealing with imagination, with fantasy, with the movement of a mask, of a character that is at the center of the moment, at the center of the experience, at the center of this feeling, this thinking, this acting, this acting in life. This is the structure of the "I," the structure of the "ego."

Can we break with this? Put an end to this continuity of imaginary life? Because this is character's life, this is person's life. My contact with you is like your contact with me: a contact between images. The way I represent life around me, I represent life based on the symbols I have, on memories, remembrances, recollections that I have within me, in this "I." I am not in contact with life, I am in contact with the idea about life, I am in contact with thought about life. So, there is a separation between life as it is happening and the representation I have of it based on the thought that I have, which is within me. This thought is the present past. There is the instant and it is present, in this moment, the past.

My contact with people is contact with abstractions. Our relations in life are illusory relations, they are relations of mental abstractions, they are relations in this dualistic mind, in this egoic mind. The Truth of Bliss is unknown, the Truth of Love is unknown, the Truth of Peace is unknown. Looking at the world, we realize that there is no such thing in human relations. This is because these human relations are mental relations, they are relations between people, they are relations in thought.

Thought is the element that has taken over life, the life of the "I," the life of this egoic entity, which lives in isolation, which, in its self-defense, has built this self-image and does everything to achieve greater growth, greater expansion for this self-image, pure egocentrism. This is how we have situated ourselves in life: There is life as it is and there is the idea of ??life as it needs to be for me.

Thus, divisions between people, confusion within relations, psychological suffering present in this "I," is something typical of this social psychological consciousness, this psychological consciousness of the world. Looking at all this, becoming aware of everything that happens psychologically and breaking free from this psychological model of existing, of being, of situating oneself in life as someone, as a person, this is our purpose.

We need a new consciousness. The consciousness we have, the consciousness we know, is this consciousness of this egoic mind, this separatist mind, this mind, which is the mind of the "I." When we learn to look at this, when we learn what it means to bring a new look to this entire process, which is the process of thought, which has given form to all of this, we can then, in that instant, free ourselves from thinking. Then, this thought ceases, this quality of thought ceases to sustain its continuity, when we learn about ourselves, when we discover what it means to know oneself, what it means to observe oneself, to perceive oneself, to observe ourselves.

Yes, the basis for this Attention to this entire movement of thought, which allows this thought to dissolve, which allows this thought to lose its importance, its value and disappear, consists of self-observation. We do not know what it means to look at ourselves, what it means to become aware of our reactions, aware of a thought here, a feeling here, a sensation, an emotion. To bring awareness to this is to observe oneself. So, this psychological content undergoes a change.

The truth is that all this content is completely emptied of its importance, of its self-worth, when we place Attention on the reactions of the "I," of the thinker, of the experiencer, of this element that looks and observes from the past. Learning to look, to observe oneself, is to abandon the observer, the thinker, the experiencer, it is to abandon this "I." It is this contact with Self-awareness - we have a playlist here on the channel: "Learning about Self-awareness" - that brings you closer to the Truth of Real Meditation in practice - this is another playlist here on the channel: "The Truth of Meditation."

What is Real Meditation? Meditation in practice. This is how we get closer to the truth of emptying all this psychological content, this is how we free ourselves from this psychological model of consciousness common to all towards something new, this Real Consciousness, this Divine Consciousness. Then you can take a look at the channel, these videos, these two playlists.

So, these meetings that we have here, also online on the weekends - we have two days together, Saturday and Sunday -, we are delving deeper into these issues. Here is our WhatsApp link to participate in these online meetings. In addition to these meetings, we have in-person meetings and also retreats. If what you just heard makes any sense to you, here is an invitation. Leave your "like," subscribe to the channel and leave here in the comments: "Yes, that makes sense." Ok? And we'll see you. Thanks for the meeting and see you soon!

Psychic suffering. Human suffering. How to deal with thoughts? Anxiety. Psychological time.

Here, the question is: "How is this issue of psychic suffering, which is the basis for this human suffering, established?" When you have physical pain, you have a very specific pain; it is a pain in your foot, a pain in your hand, in some organ of the body, this is physical pain. But there is a difference between this physical pain and this human suffering, which is psychological suffering. Where is this issue of psychic suffering established? When do you suffer?

We know what human suffering is; every human being has been going through suffering since birth. When you feel hungry, when you are still a baby, and you cry, your mother attends to you; the hunger disappears and so do the tears. But what about this issue of psychic suffering? Is there someone to wipe away these tears? Or is this idea of ??someone looking for consolation, comfort, encouragement? While, in reality, pain still continues.

We can be consoled, comforted and encouraged, and yet pain will continue until we learn to deal with this issue, which is the issue of time. See how interesting this issue of time is. When someone leaves, disappears and I don't see that person anymore, and I loved that person, there is pain here. Why does this pain arise when one leaves? Is it because one actually left or is this pain present and I don't realize it?

Even when the person is there, there is a level of separation, of division between me and one. In this division, in this separation, something is established that I am not aware of, it is the presence of some form of dependence, of a search for fulfillment in him or her. That is why, when one leaves, the pain is not because one left, it is because at that moment came the awareness, the clarity, the realization of the presence of this lack, this need, this pain.

See how important it is for us to investigate all these issues in depth. Suffering is something present in human beings. When a loved one dies, he disappears, and you cry not because he died, you cry because pain is present in you because of the lackness he causes you, and he causes you a lack because, psychologically, there is a need there that is not being fulfilled.

We call what we feel for the other person love, but, in reality, what is the truth about Love? We do not know Love! But, in reality, what is Love? Is love that which creates a facilitation for a void and in that void the presence of pain? Is love the presence of pain in the absence of the other person? Or is this absence of the other person, which is the reason for the pain, that which indicates an unfulfilled psychological need? When I have a psychological need and it is not fulfilled, there is pain; this psychological need is not love.

We do not know the Truth of Love. Love is a presence of completeness, it is not an absence, it is not a lack, it is not a psychological need, that when satisfied, when fulfilled, makes me happy, makes me fulfilled. Being filled with the presence of the other is not being in Love, it is being filled psychologically, because the other accepts me, understands me, gives me pleasure, brings me some compensation, and vice versa. This is what we generally call love in our relations.

Can we investigate this in depth to go beyond this issue of psychic suffering? When I feel jealous, when I feel the lack, when I feel abandoned, rejected, not accepted by someone I say I love, who I feel I love, what is this relation that I have with him or her? If there is the presence of jealousy, neediness, dependence, is this the presence of love? Or what is there within this relation is pleasure, satisfaction, fulfillment?

All of this needs to be investigated, we need to discover the Truth of Love, the Truth of your Being, the Truth of God, the Truth about Life. The Truth of the Love of this Being, of God and of Life is something that is present when the illusion of this "I," this ego, this "me," is not. Every form of psychological suffering, psychic suffering and emotional disorder in us is the presence of thought about things, about people, about myself. The way I deal with the present moment in this experience, in this relation, something determined by thought present in this "me," is sustaining this psychological condition of attachment, dependence, psychological need and, therefore, naturally, of suffering.

So, unless there is a real understanding of what is happening here, inside each one of us, unless it is clear how to deal with these thoughts. Because it is these thoughts present here, inside each one of us, that are determining this model of life that we have. So, the question is: "How to deal with thoughts?" The vision that I have of him or her is the vision that thought here affirms, concludes, believes, feels, witnesses, expects, thought is cultivating all of this here, inside each one of us.

When you feel rejected, it is thought that tells you so, thought that tells you about this rejection. Who is the present element that feels rejected within a relation? Your answer is simple: it is the person. But what is the truth of the person? Who are you as a person? You have an idea of ??who you are, a model of being someone as you believe yourself to be, that is the person; the person as you see yourself, the person you believe yourself to be, is the one who feels rejection, feels abandonment in the relation with the other.

So, the sense of "I" present here is a set of images that I have about who I am and also about who the other is, and this is creating this separation between me and him, me and her. This is giving this "me", here, an idea of ??what to expect, of what to expect from him or her, and thus the life of the person, of thought, is established. We do not know how to deal with thought, we do not know how to deal with the person, with the person that he or she is, with the person that I am.

What is present in these relations are relations that are based on thought, on the way each person represents who the other is. This representation of him or her, this representation of what I am to him or her is what is determining our relations. When our contacts, when our relations are based on the model of thought, these relations are structured on past experiences. We are not dealing with the past, we are dealing with life. Life is a movement that is present here, at this moment.

We are always dealing with something dynamic, of extraordinary vivacity, which is the presence of this person. The person that we are is something that is changing at every moment; at every moment we are having new impressions of the present moment and reacting to these impressions based on this structure, which is the structure of the experiencer. Thus, all this dynamism and vivacity of this "I" needs to be seen, needs to be understood.

Now, notice what a delicate thing is here: in this contact with the other, the other also carries this vivacity, this dynamism; as a person, he or she is never the same person. She is not aware of herself and we are not aware of ourselves, and yet we are within this encounter, this relation. Thus, disorder is established, confusion is established.

Unless you understand the truth about yourself, learn about yourself and go beyond this "I," this "me," this ego and therefore this vivacity and this dynamism, this illusory entity, which is the ego, unless this is resolved, this life centered on this false identity will be constantly in contact with the other, creating disorder, creating confusion. We are not dealing with Real Life, we are dealing with a model of psychological identity, which is constantly in movement between this past, present and future; and this movement is the movement of psychological time. This is how, internally, this dynamism and vivacity of the ego takes place.

We are constantly involved in our psychological world, in our particular life, which is the life centered on the "I," and so it is with the other. We do not have real contact in our relations; they are based on models of thought, where we have the illusion of a relation where love, comprehension, freedom, peace, and happiness are present, while in reality, when we look closely, we realize that all of this is completely imaginary.

Thus, we are constantly maintaining the continuity of a life centered on the model of thought, and all I have of the person I live with and he has of me are images, a game between images, a game between beliefs, ideas, evaluations, conclusions, opinions. This is what we have called a relation. What is present is a level of relationship where thought is the predominant element. We are not living the Truth of comprehension, Freedom, Peace, and Love in our relations. This explains all this psychic suffering, all this disorder and confusion in life, in this particular life of the "I."

Contact with this moment is what reveals Life when thought is not. However, when thought is present, and this has been the case in our lives, there is no truth within these relations. What brings us closer to the real vision of Love, the real vision of Happiness, of Freedom? It is the presence of Self-awareness.

Once we have discarded this illusory identity, once we have a direct comprehension of the Truth of That which is present beyond the "I," beyond the ego, beyond this person and, therefore, beyond thought, this Truth reveals Happiness. Then, there is the end of this psychological condition, which is the condition of suffering.

You were born to realize God in this life, to realize the Truth of your Being. This comprehension is the comprehension of the other, because, in reality, the other does not exist, there is a single Reality present in this contact, in this true relation, in this true communion. And this is something present when you assume the Reality of That which is You in your Real Nature, in your Essential Nature - this is what some call God Realization, Enlightenment or Awakening.

This is what we are working on here with you in these online meetings on the weekends. We are together for two days - Saturday and Sunday. You can find our WhatsApp link here in the video description to participate in these online meetings. In addition to these meetings, we have in-person meetings and also retreats. If this makes any sense to you, here's an invitation. Leave your "like," subscribe to the channel and leave a comment saying: "Yes, that makes sense." Ok? And we'll see you soon. Joel Goldsmith | Awakening Mystical Consciousness | How can we overcome fear | Marcos Gualberto

GC: Hello, everyone! We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto is here with us. Thank you, Master, for being here.

Today, I am going to read an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith's book called "Awakening Mystical Consciousness." In an excerpt from this book, Master, Joel makes the following comment: "Fear dominates humanity, because, instilled in the human mind, it makes man forget that God is his own life." In this excerpt, Joel mentions the issue of fear. Can the Master share his vision on how we can overcome fear?

MG: Gilson, this old idea of ??defeating, conquering, overcoming is the most common thing! When we come across an enemy, we want to defeat the enemy; we want to overcome the enemy. So, we see fear as something to be defeated, to be overcome. We do not investigate the nature, the structure, the truth of what we call fear. We don't comprehend, Gilson, a basic thing that we have been putting here for you: if there is fear, there is an element present in this fear. This element is the element affected by fear. But what is the truth of fear? What is the structure of fear? What is this reality of fear? That is the first question. The second is: who is this element affected by fear, who wants to get rid of fear, who wants to overcome fear? Is there a real separation, when this state that we call fear is present, from the one who is in fear, from the one who wants to get rid of fear, who wants to overcome fear? Is there a separation or is the presence of fear the presence of this element?

When you use the pronoun "I," who exactly are you referring to? You are referring to yourself. You are not referring to the other, you are referring to yourself. What is the truth of this "yourself?" What is the truth of this "I"? And when fear is present, who is it that is afraid? Is it not the "I"? Is it not this "self"? But is there a separation of the state of fear itself from that which is the "I"? When you are afraid, is there a separation between you and the fear, or in that state of fear you are the state itself? So, let's start here. When you feel fear, you are that feeling. There is no you and the feeling, it's just the feeling! When the feeling diminishes or when it disappears, you have a memory or a sensation. When you have a sensation because fear has diminished, this sensation gives you the illusion of a separation between you and fear. When fear is gone and you have a remembrance, you have the sensation that now you have fear; it is already gone. This sensation of separation between you and fear does not occur at the exact moment of the pain when it is there, of this grief when it is there, of this suffering when it is there, of this emotion of fear when fear is there. There is no separation between you and fear.

So, this is the first thing. So, Gilson, we are faced with an illusion: the illusion of someone who wants to overcome fear, but this someone does not exist. When fear is present, there is only the presence of fear. It is when fear is no longer present, when the feeling has diminished, that thought creates this separation, creating this entity that is the "me," the "I," with fear, in fear. So, this is the first thing: What is the nature of the "I"? The nature of the "I" is that which is present here, showing itself, but we do not realize the nature of the "I," because we separate ourselves, based on thought, to talk about an experience that has already happened. See how we need to have a new approach to this issue - see, it is not about overcoming fear, it is not about getting rid of fear, but an approach to the end of this psychological condition of the "I," which is the psychological condition of the emotional state of pain, of suffering, of fear.

Therefore, all our interest here consists in the end of fear, but the end of fear means the end of this element that is the "I." You cannot be afraid without existing as someone. You cannot be afraid if you do not exist for fear. You only talk about a fear within a relation between you and the emotion, between you and that painful state, between you and that frightening state; so, there is you and fear. This "you and fear" is within this principle of separation. This separation does not exist, this separation between you and fear is something that thought is producing. So, notice what an important thing is present. What is the nature of fear? The nature of fear is thought itself. What is the nature of the "I"? It is thought itself. What are you afraid of? It is what you remember that causes you fear. You cannot be afraid without the memory of that which causes you fear. And if you have the memory of that which causes you fear, what there is, is just an abstraction. So, there is you and the fear of death, but death is not here. What there is about death is an idea, it is a thought.

Notice where the structure, the nature of fear is: the structure, the nature of fear is in thought. You are afraid of being betrayed; this is in the future, this is in thought. You are afraid of going through that situation again that you once experienced; this is a thought about the future, about the past. So, it is the notion of thought about past and future that causes fear. You are afraid of getting old. See, this is the future and it is the presence of thought.

All the forms of fear that you have - all of them! - are linked to thought. So, the nature of fear, the structure of fear, is thought, and this present element, which is the "I," which is this "me." But when does this "me" also appear? Isn't it when thought appears? When you remember something that happened to you - here is the presence of the "I" -, when you don't want that to happen again - here is the presence of thought projecting itself into the future. So, you come to me and ask, "How to get rid of fear?" or "How to overcome fear?" or "How to conquer fear?"... To investigate the nature of the "I," the nature of fear, the nature of thought, is the end of thought, the end of the "I," the end of fear, because there is the end of the past, because there is no longer the burden of remembrance. There is the end of the future, there is no longer the thought of what will be. The end of the thought of the past, the end of the thought of the future. This is the end of time, this is the end of fear, this is the end of thought, this is the end of the "I"!

You may ask, "Then, what is the Awakening of Consciousness?" It is the Flourishing of your Divine Nature. This Awareness of your Being is the Awareness of God, That which is present here and now, free from thought, free from the "I," free from time, free from fear. There is something present, as we have always said, and this "something" present is outside the past, the present and the future. This "something" is the Reality of your Being.

It is something beyond all things, it is a "something" beyond anything. It is that which is indescribable, beyond all names, all forms; the Divine Reality! This is the end of illusion; this is the end of ignorance. This is the end not only of fear, but also the end of suffering. You were born for this Realization, you were born to assume That, to live That in this life! This is what we are with you, here, deepening, working on, becoming aware of. In this life, the Awareness of Life, free from this "me," this "I," which lives in the past, is fundamental. We need to discover what it is to die to the past, to die psychologically to what was, then there will be no future. The end of the past is the end of the future, it is the Awareness of Reality that is outside of thought, outside of time, it is the awareness of God!

GC: Master, we have a question from a subscriber here on the channel. Raquel asks the following question: "Master, and when there is depression and anxiety, how can we get rid of it?"

MG: Gilson, notice the question: "When there is depression and anxiety, how can we get rid of it?" To become aware of your reactions, get close to them, find out how to get closer to this reaction, to look at it. When we have a problem, we can only deal with the problem by getting closer to it, and not by moving away from it. We can move a problem away from us; there are several ways to do this, and that is what we have been doing. We prefer to move away from the problem or move it away from us rather than getting closer to look at it. So, I ask you: when you move away from a problem, does it no longer exist or is it there, somewhere, hidden to come back again? When you move away from a problem, or it is moved away from you, does it stop being there somewhere, lurking, watching? No, it is there! That is why, Gilson, we do not get rid of problems, because we do not become aware of them!

When you get closer to a problem, the problem can reveal itself, it can show itself, it can present itself, because you are close to it, looking at it, discovering what it represents. So, yes, from that moment on, in this approach, we have the possibility of ending the problem. We are not running away, we are not escaping, we are not moving away from it; we are getting closer to it to take a closer look. When we learn to look at the problem, because we get closer to it, we discover that there is no separation between the problem and "me." It is precisely this "me" that is the problem. Until then, we thought we had a problem, and now we realize that the idea that we had a problem is not true. The truth is that "I" am the problem. This "I" is the state of affliction, of suffering, of pain; it is the state of emotional disorder, of restlessness, that is present. By rejecting this state, I separate myself to do something against it. By doing this, we are feeding an illusion: the illusion that there is "me" and this state.

This separation, Gilson, this duality, this idea: "me and sadness"... Notice, there is no "me" and sadness! When sadness is present, what is present is sadness; there is no such thing as this sad "me." When anguish, anxiety, depression are present, there is no such thing as this depressed "me." It is just depression! This separation is something that thought, within you, is creating, in this old belief of "me and the problem," "me and anxiety," "me and depression." Here, we are putting something else to you: get closer to the own state, become aware, just look at this thought, this feeling, this state. To discover how to look without rejecting, without fighting against, without also affirming it as being real for this "me"... Just look! To look without interfering, look to become aware, look to perceive. Then, at that moment - ??I say again -, the problem, the state, reveals itself.

What is happening in this looking without someone looking, in this perceiving without someone perceiving, in this approaching without someone approaching, is a realization of the end of this condition of separation. Then, a new quality of energy arises in this perceiving, in this looking, in this being aware of that. A new quality of energy arises, and when this occurs, in that instant, there is the end of separation between this "I" and the state. And what happens to this state? It does not sustain itself! See, exactly that: it does not sustain itself. It has been sustaining itself, it has been sustaining itself due to this non-observation, this non-approach, this attempt to free oneself, to escape, to do something against the state. What we are addressing here and now, Gilson, is the real approach to Self-awareness. This is something directly linked to this approach to Meditation. Becoming aware of the reaction without getting involved with it, this represents the end of this reaction, of this psychological condition; this is the end of this state.

See, the real way to approach life is through this way of looking, through this way of becoming aware, through this way of being conscious, without the involvement of this "me," this "I," this observer, this one who wants to get involved to do something against it, when the state is bad or unpleasant. So, Gilson, it is essential that we learn to approach life without the "me," without this observer, without this experiencer, without this one who wants to experience or wants to get rid of it. That is what we are working on here with you, discovering how to approach this moment without the past, without this background, without this element to interfere. That is how we deal with each and every state linked to this psychological condition, which is the condition of this "I," "I-state," "I" and anxiety, fear, depression... But this also applies to so-called "positive" states, which reinforce this illusory identity that is the ego, which is the "I." That is for another talk, ok? But this is the real approach. That is how we approach it.

GC: Master, we have another question from another subscriber here on the channel. Emília makes the following comment and asks: "Hello, Master. Can you talk about the power of thought to create the ego and all the problems associated with it? Does this happen at the brain level?"

MG: Gilson, this support of this element that is the "I," the ego, is the support of the mechanical, automatic, unconscious, repetitive, and conditioned movement of the brain itself. There is no separation between this brain conditioning and this movement of separation from the reality of life as it happens. This movement of separation is something psychological, but this entire psychological movement is clearly related to the way this conditioned brain, this conditioned intellect, is processing all of this.

So, the condition of the unawareness of thought, of the lack of awareness of its movement, causes the brain to continue making its records and sustaining this continuity of the past, and this occurs due to the lack of this attention, of this look at these reactions. So, yes, the entire movement of mental conditioning is closely, directly linked to this model of conditioned brain. Only when this conditioned brain pattern is no longer present, because of the presence of this attention, does the brain no longer continue to maintain its old condition of automatism, of unconsciousness, of automatic recording.

Thus, the beauty of this encounter with this looking at this moment, with this observing of this moment - ??of all these reactions, paying full attention to it - the beauty of this is that, in this moment, there is a break in this continuity of automatic, mechanical, unconscious recording pattern. This represents the end for this conditioned intellect, for this conditioned mind. Reality is present, something new is present, something outside of this old, ancient pattern of mental conditioning, of brain conditioning.

A life free from psychological time is a life free from a conditioned brain, from a brain that automatically, mechanically, and unconsciously records everything it is going through. This model is the model of a brain that has maintained, for millennia, a supposed entity present amidst experiences. That is why we maintain the illusion of this thinker, this experiencer, this observer. This illusion is present because this brain is conditioned, as coming into contact with the moment, to look at this moment from this record that is the experiencer, the thinker, the observer.

This subject requires a deep investigation, a direct, very clear approach to all of this, to put an end to this old model, and that is exactly what we are doing together in these meetings, especially online meetings and in-person meetings. The retreats are part of these meetings.

GC: Thank you, Master, our time is over. Thank you for this videocast. And for those of you who are following the videocast until the end and really want to delve deeper into these teachings, we invite you to participate in the meetings that Master Gualberto offers. These are online weekend meetings; there are also in-person meetings and multi-day retreats.

In these meetings, Master Gualberto answers our questions directly - and much more than that. Because the Master already lives in this Awakened State of Consciousness, he shares an energy field around him. And in these meetings, we end up taking a ride on the Master's energy. And this helps us a lot in this process of getting to know ourselves, entering into Meditation, and perceiving the incessant movement of thoughts...

So, here is the invitation. In the first comment, pinned, there is the WhatsApp link to be able to participate in these meetings.

And, Master, once again, thank you for the videocast.
