It is the moment of Awakening

The sense of separation, the illusion of self-identity, cannot do anything to go beyond itself. You are unable to enhance the heat intensity, the strength or the brightness of the morning light; you cannot interfere in the work of the Sun. This Consciousness, this Grace, this Presence is this "Light", so there is no way to make this Enlightenment, this Awakening, this Realization happen. We are facing something that happens naturally, just like the Sun appearing in the morning and doing all the work it knows how to do. So is the Light of this Presence, Consciousness and Grace. Then, the blossoming of this Presence, of this Realization takes place without effort.

When there is communion with Truth from the heart, the Truth is lived, is realized and it flourishes. If you persist in your dream, the dream of this ego-identity, you are within the illusion and there is no room for this heartfelt communion with the Truth. When there is no such space, the dream continues, the illusion persists.

When we meet each other, you come across this "morning light" moment. The Presence of God is this "light of the dawn." When the Grace of the Guru, of God, of this Presence comes this way, then everything happens naturally. My job does not concern the dream. I simply neither support it nor believe in it; I do not live within this point of view, and this is the position of the Grace, of God, of the Guru when He/She meets you.

"When we meet each other, you come across this "morning light" moment. The Presence of God is this "light of the dawn." When the Grace of the Guru, of God, of this Presence comes this way, then everything happens naturally."

You are in bed and it is morning ... It is time to Awake! It is the end of illusion, of suffering, of all despair, affliction, confusion. It is the moment of the "dawn", it is the moment of Awakening! This is the meaning of this work.

In this communion from the heart with the Truth, you live the Truth itself. Then, you can live your True Nature. You gradually become less and less involved in suffering, because it is all imaginary; it is established in the illusion of a separate entity attached to its desires, attachments and fears. Does it make any sense to you or does it not mean you anything?

Realization does not maintain the sense of separation nor any search for fulfillment on the outside. So, the heart in communion with the Real Self is the essence to enable the end of suffering and of all illusion. That’s why I began by saying it is not a matter of doing anything, but of enganging in this communion, in this surrender.

People come to this meeting and face an entirely new proposal: to give up on themselves, to give up on his/her pursuits and achievements, plunging themselves into the Source, into the Nature of Being, returning "home". This is a radical "understanding", a totally different approach to Life, when you realize there is nothing to be done in this world, since everything is already where it needs to be. You won’t improve anything; but you will only create more confusion.

In India, this is known as "karma", that means to receive the fruits of good or bad deeds. Nevertheless this is still confined in the span of the false “me”, of the illusion of the ego identity, of separation. What I have just called as "radical understanding" is the realization that Life is already complete and that the world is fine without “you”.

You are confined in a source of confusion, working hard on it. The Sages in India called this "source of confusion" as the "Samsara’s Circle" - to be born, to return to school, to marry, to have children, to build a family, to die, to be born, to die, to be born, to die ...

There is always the illusion of someone present in the "act of doing", while at the same time there is no one doing anything; there is only the very movement of karma. This is within the illusion, the belief of separation: "The world and I", "life and I" "my deeds and I". Wherever there is a relationship of this "me" with the world, of this "me" with others, of this "me" with life, there will be confusion. This is the "source of confusion", the Samsara.

How to abandon the lie of being a person?

In these meetings, we work with the fundamentals to enable the attainment of what everybody, in a certain way, is pursuing: Happiness.

I have noticed how easy you get disoriented. When walking in the wildwood, a huge attention is required to not allow for the loss of the sense of direction, as it can result in a death dangerous situation. You are prone to lose the sense of direction easily, when you lose yourself in the phenomenon, in the appearance of the events. You forget yourself, you forget your Real Nature and you become entangled with any external phenomena.

It is curious, but thought, feeling and emotion are also external phenomena. Notice this is a fundamental thing to you, who are working for Awakening, for God’s Realization: not to lose yourself in the “external” things.

When something happens outside of the body (for example, when a relative experiences an accident, or when a relative is hospitalized, or when somebody leaves you, or when you lose the job, etc.) you lose yourself in these events, you forget your Real Nature, you get worried dealing with “external” events. “External” can be both events: the ones on the outside and the thoughts inside. By doing this, you forget there is something in you greater than the “external”.

When you come to Satsang, I say to you: “None of this is real!” It may be real only as phenomena, but it is not real as your Being, as your True Nature. It is not real because it comes and goes. Thoughts, feelings, emotions, jobs, accidents, hospitalized people, people dying and being born are such things, but none of this can harm You, your Being. However, you do not believe me; you prefer to believe in this and then you have problems and suffer. Do you get this?

The most challenge thing in life is to live with it without making up anything. Thought loves to invent! It interprets, translates and tries to manipulate what happens. This is ego! “To be pushy” is ego; to resist, to fight against what happens is ego. You go beyond this limitation when you embrace your Being, your Real Nature.

"The most challenge thing in life is to live with it without making up anything."

Your True Nature is in Peace, it has no problems. In deep sleep, you experience This because you are not there as an ego-identity, as a person with choices, desires and fears.

Satsang invites you to go beyond all this limitation; it is the key that opens the door to the end of illusion, to the end of this suffering entity, of this “person”, of this disturbed person. I do not know a good person, because “person” means craziness. When you go to Satsang, you meet a Realized Being who looks at you and says: “You do not need to suffer, but you have to detach from your history, from the thought, from your world, because ‘your world’ is problematic. Wherever your world appears, the problem will follow.”

Nevertheless, you are addicted to thinking, to feeling, to being “someone”; you are addicted to the world, to the personal history. So, there is no room for Consciousness, Meditation, Being. If you live in your Being, there are no more problems. This is your Awakening! You have to get out of this sleep state, of “your world” in your head. This is your only problem!

You need to understand this, not intellectually, but in a practical way. When a phenomenon comes up, do not get involved with it, do not trust in it. When thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations, and events arise, leave them to God. It is not your business, so do not get involved with them! Let God take care of everything! If you do not so, you will lose your hunger, you will lose sleep, you will dream at night, you will be grumpy during the day, you will get very angry, you will be disturbed, mentally disturbed.

So, turn to the Truth about yourself, to Consciousness, to the Presence, to God, and abandon the mind. That is why I have been recommending people to come to Satsang: because it is the only way to abandon the lie of being a person.

You are too addicted to live this way, too addicted! You live among "junkies," "drugged people”. Then you go to Satsang and come across a "sober one" amidst a crowd of egos, of people "drunk" with illusion.

The mind has the ability to turn life into a problem. The mind is always personal! The mind turns the experiences it undergoes - such as thoughts, feelings, emotions and whatever it happens on the outside - into something private, personal, something to "someone". To whom? To You! So you say, "I have a problem that nobody has!" - This is the particularization of the mind.

Now what we call "ego"has become clear. Ego is this illusory sense of a center where things happen. This is craziness, since everything that happens to this "me" is just an imagination for that self-image you believe to be. Look how interesting: you imagine being someone, therefore you have problems. This only exists in the mind!

Life says: "I Am what I Am, I do not care for your imagination!" So, this self-image gets revolted, angry, in suffering, and this never ends, unless the dream ends. Welcome to Satsang!

Awakening is the end of the image you have about yourself!

In these meetings, you turn your focus to the recognition of who you are. You have been moving away from this for a long time. It is all a matter of self-forgetfulness! You need to turn your focus to What you are, which implies coming back home. This separation from yourself is self-forgetfulness.

Your Real Nature is not "something." The thought in your head and the feeling in your body make you feel "something." You feel yourself like someone, you feel yourself like something, you feel yourself like something among many things. Your body-mind experience is the experience of a "someone" – that is the experience of something. All this happens because you forget who you really are. This way, you feel yourself as if you were something among many other things; you see yourself as if you were one person among many others. You forget this "I Am," you mistake yourself for the body and the mind, thereby seeing yourself as something.

Just like all this space in this room: you are this space, but since you have forgotten this, you mistake yourself for some object that appears in here. You mistake yourself by trusting in this belief you are something, whereas, in reality, you are the whole space itself!

When you come to Satsang, you believe at first you will solve your problems, your sufferings will cease. You believe Awakening, Enlightenment is the end of your troubles, of your sufferings. You are too concerned with this issue of Enlightenment. Prior to this, you had several other problems, but now you have one problem that prevails over all others: a problem that when solved, may solve all the other problems you have!

People write to me and say: "I want Enlightenment!" And I ask: "Why do you want Enlightenment?" And they say: "My parents will be able to understand me then!"… "My wife will love me!"… "I am not going to suffer anymore!"... But let me tell you something: Enlightenment is not the end of your problems, is not the world in peace with you, is not about having your problems all solved. Enlightenment means leaving this view "I am something," "I am somebody"... You forget your Real Nature and you mistake yourself for a belief, an idea, an image, and that image has problems, has enemies, wants the salvation...This image is this "something."

Awakening, Realization, Enlightenment is the end of this image you have about yourself, the image of being someone, the idea you are an object in that space. When that image vanishes, the space remains, and, certainly the space has no problems. At that moment, you are this space and as such, you are not attached to experiences; they happen in the body and in the mind. Similarly, something can happen to one of these objects placed in this room, but this has no impact in that space where the objects appear, causing no damages nor scratches on it.

Therefore, Realization, Enlightenment is not the end of your problems; It is the end of the illusion there is someone present to have problems, someone present to suffer, to be hurt, to feel offended or rejected, to get depressed or to feel euphoric... Realization has nothing to do with what you believe, because all this is still part of the mind... It is when you move from that position (in which you believe and feel that you are something) to something entirely new, entirely unknown. You recognize who you are, your Real Nature, the Truth about yourself, the Truth of that impersonal space. Your True Nature is Pure Consciousness, Pure Space, the Nothingness.

While you remain considering yourself a person, you will see the world like a person does; you will feel the world like a person does. Realization is to leave this dream! When someone, who is awake, sees you moving in bed, crying, moaning, screaming, and realizes you are dreaming (having a nightmare), he or she sees your suffering, takes pity on you and touches you saying: "hey you, wake up!" When you wake up, the dream ends immediately. Notice that it does not take a second for the dream to end; it ends immediately. That's why who realizes the Self says it does not require time, as it is an immediate change; here is about moving from the dream, from the ego-identity to your Being, to your Real Nature. This change really requires no time; it is not a matter of time.

We cannot handle this subject here, at least not now, for this is a very paradoxical thing to the mind, who lives within time, who sees itself within time, who has created the illusion of time. Everything requires plenty of time to the mind. It happened in time, it is in the past; it is happening now, it is at the present time; it needs the future, then there is another form of time. The mind is addicted to it, and all our work here is for you to become aware of who you are, here and now.

There is no time in here and now, but the mind won't say it! For example, a work happened in here for a twenty-one year stint; this was the period required by the mind to abandon its desire for continuity. The mind struggled to remain for more twenty-one years [after Ramana appeared to Master Gualberto].

No time is required to reach This – what is here now, has always been here – but it has only become clear when the mind was gone. You do not have to worry about that. This is something greater than you, greater than the mind... all this is a mysterious action of the unknown, a Divine action, an action of Grace. In this action of Grace, this space reveals itself as your Real Nature. So, the sense of being someone, of being something, of being an object in that space disappears instantly.

Just like water reaching the state of vapor (in physics we know this): it has to be heated, over and over ... it will not evaporate at ninety-eight, ninety-nine degrees... it has to reach precisely one hundred Celsius degrees. When this happens, it loses its state of water to become steam immediately; but it took a while to reach one hundred degrees. Awakening is something like this, it is the ripening, the flowering, the realization; it is when there is no longer ninety-seven, ninety-eight, ninety-nine degrees of temperature.

For now, this body-mind mechanism is in this position of identification with the illusion of an ego-identity, of a person within the experience, mistaking him/herself for moods and working to reach realization, to reach liberation through this investigation, this surrender, "looking at this," again, and again, and again…

All this seems to be very despairing today, but the day will come when you are going to laugh at all those efforts, all those trips to participate in Satsang – the heat in the Northeastern region [of Brazil] and the cold in the Southeastern region [of Brazil], thousands and thousands of flight hours – and, in fact, you have never left the place, you have never stopped being who you are, you could not be what you are not. This is the greatest of all the mysteries: you are looking for the Reality, even being the Reality itself. Then, the day will come when you will laugh at all this.

The problem lies not in the desire for Reality, but in what the mind has told you about Reality, and here is what you have been doing to reach it. What we are doing together here is to see what Reality is not. You have been deceived by yourself for a long time, by this own mistaken movement of the mind over the Nature of Reality. So you seek Reality in loving relationships, in material possessions, in professional accomplishments, in physical beauty, or in all sorts of things...

Here, I meet you in this nightmare and I shake you to wake you up from this dream; I push you out of the bed if necessary... if I touch your arm and it does not work, I push you out of the bed to get you out of this supposed reality, to force you to abandon all these desires. Then you do not want to marry again, for example, because you see that everything is the same; you are no longer worried about making a fortune, making money to get things, because you see that Reality is not in there... you notice that Happiness, Freedom, Love, Peace are not there. So, I shake you in your bed to wake you up, to force you to abandon this nonsense...

That was my guru's job with me, and it is my job with you likewise. How do I do this? The same way he did to me: He came into my room and pushed me out of my bed. Twenty-one years is really a matter of shove! A soft touch in the right arm would not be enough to wake somebody up from the dream, from a nightmare; but a shove instead.

How did He do this? The same way I do with you! You see a picture of mine on Facebook and you dream of me... You have never seen me on Facebook, but after coming across my picture, you look at my eyes, and I am looking at you and saying: "Where are you boy? I am waiting for you!" That is how He did to me! You log in here, into Paltalk, you listen to my voice for three minutes, and then you say, "Who is this guy?" You are browsing YouTube, you come across one of my videos and say: "Who is this guy?"

I am the end of your nightmares! I am not saying it will be easy to show you how useless is to keep trusting in this dream as if it were real to you; but I am telling you that I can do my job. When you stop believing in everything, you stop being someone, you stop being something, you stop being an object in that space to become the whole space itself... the sleep ends, the dream ends and so does the nightmare!

Namaste!
