Joel Goldsmith | Consciousness is What I Am | Your True Nature | Master Gualberto

Gilson – Hello, everyone, we're here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto has kindly joined us so that we can bring questions that you ask and also read an excerpt from one of Joel Goldsmith's books. Thank you for this opportunity, Master.

Master, today I'm going to read an excerpt from the book “Consciousness is What I Am” by Joel Goldsmith. In this book, in a passage talking about the “Spiritual Warehouse,” Joel says the following: “Knowing the Truth of the Infinite Warehouse within, we can extract from Consciousness not only all that is necessary for our particular development, but twelve full baskets left over to share.” Master, could you talk a little more about this?

Master Gualberto – So, Gilson, there is a concern there. In general, it's something very common, it's a general concern of many, the belief that the Divine approach or this approach to God must necessarily come with the end of all life's complications. This seems very reasonable, especially because Jesus said: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and all other things will be added to you.” But I'd like us to be a bit more careful with this approach, because when Truth is revealed, it's the end to suffering, but in general, people see suffering as the absence of, perhaps, material aspects in their lives; so if we lack something materially, we are in suffering, whereas, in fact, when the Reality of God approaches or when there is this Truth of God revealing itself, the end to suffering is the end of the illusion of this sense of an “I” that separates itself from life, that separates itself from the other, that separates itself from God. It is the end of psychological suffering. Naturally, aspects of physical suffering also disappear, but we have to be careful here.

In general, people are looking for what God has to give them and not what God IS. So, we need, Gilson, to understand that the Truth of your Being, which is Divine Truth, is the end to suffering and, of course, the Source of all provision. But we can't start with the external aspect, we can't look outwards and expect external situations to be resolved before this attention that we need to give to all this internal suffering within each one of us.

So, this search or quest for external provision is a mistake, it's a misunderstanding, it's a deception. What matters here is understanding the Truth of your Being, That is everything, That is all. Here, we are working with you, showing you that the Divine approach is the end of this sense of a present egoic identity, so all the work here, in this encounter with the Kingdom of God, is not an encounter with external provision, with external miracles, but it is an encounter with the end of this sense of a present ego that sees itself separate from the Source, that sees itself separate from God. That's why our emphasis here, Gilson, is always on investigating the nature of the “I,” the nature of the ego, the nature of this sense of separation. This sense of separate identity is that which is depressed, which is anxious, which is distressed, which is in fear, which is in all forms of psychological suffering and unhappiness, which doesn't understand the very movement of the mind that represents those movements of thoughts that lead us to action.

Without understanding the movement of the mind, which is the movement of thoughts within us, all our actions will be egocentric actions, centered on an illusory identity, and naturally producing suffering for ourselves and for others. So, that's what we have to investigate, that's what we have to get rid of. As for this Divine Truth being complete provision, that's not for the “I,” it's for the ego. Our heart needs to be turned towards the Realization of What we are for the acknowledgment of the Truth of our Being. So, our emphasis cannot be on the external aspect, of miracles, of provision, of manifestations. We have to look at this movement of the “I,” which is this movement of the ego, which is this movement of the restless mind producing thoughts and leading us to behaviors and positions in living that are positions of egocentric activities. This is what we have to get rid of, this is what we have to look at, this is what we have to discard; and this is an action of the Presence itself, of Grace itself. So, the greatest wealth, the greatest provision is to assume the Truth of your Being. As for the other things, Truth – the Divine, the Reality of this Being that is this Consciousness that we already are – takes care of everything.

I've seen people so worried about external results or seeking external achievements, wanting to see God's hands at work rather than God's Truth. So, the work here, Gilson, consists of making ourselves aware of this Revelation of this Being. Everything that is necessary appears, arises, but you don't have to put a single thought into it, nor a single idea into it, nor a single purpose into it. Nothing needs to be done if you are in your Natural State of Pure Being, which is this God Consciousness. So, there's no room in the mind to be preoccupied with concerns, with external occupations, with external achievements, because everything happens naturally. Without a sense of “I” present, life is Harmony, Beauty, Grace, Fullness, and Provision, it's everything that is needed when it is needed at the moment, and you're not there. Your “I,” your ego isn't investing in accomplishing this or accomplishing that, changing this or changing that, everything happens naturally. So here the great secret lies in allowing yourself to Be, in not resisting life as it is, in assuming the Truth of your Divine Nature, free from this sense of an “I” that is occupied, worried, that wants to alter, wants to change, wants to do, wants to get rid of, and so on. That's it.

Gilson – Master, the “becoming” is very strong in this identity of “someone” present, isn't it? To “become” more financially prosperous in order to be happy or achieve this or achieve that, and in proximity to the Master, I see that there is no desire for this. Now, one point, Master, about this desire of this identity, this false idea of being “someone,” that is always projecting a “coming to be,” as the Master always says, that is always running away from this pain of being “someone,” so one keeps projecting oneself. Can you talk a bit about this?

Master Gualberto – What happens in the ego is that we transfer happiness into an external achievement. We place a label called happiness on a particular external achievement or external accomplishment, and we set out to pursue it. So, for us, happiness is in the future, somewhere, in some condition, in some dream, in some project, in an encounter with someone, with something, it's always something outside. The basic idea is: there is always something on the outside to be accomplished, to be achieved so that here “I” can feel complete. What we don't realize is that this sense of an “I” is incompleteness. Everything is already here and now. There is nothing out there to be achieved with the name of happiness, with the name of love, with the name of peace, with the name of freedom, with the name of God. This is not out there; this is not in that space between “me” and what is there. So, this movement in time doesn't exist, it's a projection of the ego itself.

The ego has created this element, which is the time element; it has created this element in order to achieve something there, so it has created the time element and the space element. The space is between “me” and that given thing that will make me happy, the perfect love, the perfect dream, the perfect happiness, the perfect achievement, Enlightenment, the perfect meeting with God. All of that is imagination of thought, so there is this separation between “me” and that other thing. Thought also created space, because if there is a distance, there is that space, there is a time that is needed to get from here to there. So, the ego created this “becoming,” this “reaching,” this “coming to be” and all of this is within the illusion of the “I” itself, of the ego itself, of the movement itself, Gilson, of thought, because thought is the root of it all. It is thought that formulates, with its image, an ideal, something. Thought is that in us which comes from the past as a memory, a recollection, an image, is here and now, and is projecting itself forward in this sense of “I” in order to get rid of something or to achieve something. This is how this sense of ego perpetuates itself over time.

Approaching Self-awareness is the end of this time that thought constructs, it is the end of this space that thought constructs, it is the end of this illusory happiness, peace, dream, and Enlightenment that thought is constructing. The awareness of the Truth of your Being is Completeness, it is Fullness, it is Divine Truth. This is present when the egoic mind is no more, when the sense of an “I” is no longer present, then there is no more past, present, or future. That which is this Reality here and now shows itself as Completeness, as Love, as Happiness, as Peace, so it's a matter of realizing this Truth now, and this requires the work of verifying illusion, which is Self-awareness, and realizing Reality, which is Meditation, True Meditation.

Gilson – Master, even on this subject, we have a question here from Alê. He asked the following question: “Regarding the pleasure that human beings seek, such as money to own things, the search for an affective and sexual partner, does this end for a Realized Being or not necessarily? Seeing Ramana [Maharshi], he didn't seem concerned about it, just wearing the kind of 'diaper' I see in the photos; money made no difference to him. Thank you!”

Master Gualberto – When there is this Realization, the Truth of this Realization is the end of the sense of a present identity. This present identity is this sense of an “I” that always carries some kind of dissatisfaction. With the end of the “I” – let's put it very straight for you – dissatisfaction disappears along with it, so there is no more projection of the future. So, we can list many things in the future: health, money, prestige, fame, relationships; we either project things into the future or we project ourselves to be free, in the future, from things we already have, because of dissatisfaction. There are things to be achieved and things we want to get rid of, all because of this “I” in its dissatisfaction. With Realization, all this disappears.

The sense of an “I,” of an egoic identity, is the sense of a dissatisfied existence. The nature of the egoic mind is dissatisfaction, it will never be happy. So, when we use the expression “human being,” we are talking about a Being. Being is Consciousness, Happiness, it is not a “human being.” Your True Nature is the Nature of God, which is Happiness, that is Completeness, that is the absence of dissatisfaction. So, the model we have of this so-called “human being” is a dissatisfied being, it's an unhappy being, it's a being that doesn't know his Real Nature, it's a being that doesn't know his Real Identity, which is Divine Identity. In fact, the only Identity in all manifestation is God, only He is a Real Identity, there is only Him, and when He is present, this sense of an identity that separates itself in experience is no longer present. So, the Truth of your Being is Happiness. I want to repeat: it is Consciousness, it is Pure Being, and That is Completeness.

Now, the external aspects around a Realized Being, this is where we have to approach carefully. In the ego, in the “I,” in that sense of “being” still a “human,” the mind doesn't know what it's about, it can't reach it. So, you can't measure a Realized Being by the external aspect of his or her appearance or what seems to exist outside, around him or her, because that view will be a view based on a preconceived concept of the ego, that a Realized Being has to dress like Ramana, that's not true; he or she can’t touch money, as Ramakrishna did, that's not true. We end up creating external criteria for this Being who is outside the world, who is outside this dream of relationships with people, situations, objects, pleasure, and pain. We can't measure that. So, this is where I found an error in the question you asked. “Oh, I see Ramana with a...” And when you look at a Realized Being like Osho, who dressed completely differently from Ramana, how is that to you? Who is Realized and who is not? By what criteria can you tell whether a person is Realized or not? Is it from an external view of what is happening around them? Let's be careful with that.

The point here is not to look at who Osho was, who Ramana was, how Ramana dressed, how Osho dressed, what the life of “A,” “B” or “C” was like, who, in your belief, was Realized. In fact, Gilson, believing that someone was Realized because of the clothes they wore is a mistake, because of the external quality of life they had is a mistake. What matters here is that you discover the Truth of your Being.

A Realized Being is unique and has a very unique form of presentation and expression in life, in existence, and yet the Real State is the State of the Buddha, it's the State of Christ, it's the State of Ramana Maharshi, it's the State of a Realized Being. So, it is not that way, that's not the criterion. We just have to be careful with that. No, don't make comparisons, don't evaluate based on thought. You have to go beyond this very sense of an “I” that separates itself from experience, go beyond your own ego so that you can actually recognize a Realized Being. You know, recognize a Realized Being not by what he appears to be or have, but by what he IS, and you only recognize him in what he IS when you recognize yourself as being that same Reality. A Realized Being recognizes another, an unrealized one speculates, believes, has ideas, has beliefs, and all this is very delicate, because you can move away from the opportunity of a Realized Being by judging them by your criteria, by the criteria you have about how a Realized Being is or how he is not a Realized Being – all this is completely false.

Gilson – Master, it's amazing how there are no parameters for what it means to be a Realized Being. So, within the ego, within this idea, we have infinite beliefs, isn't it? Infinite beliefs: dress this way, dress that way. Is there any common ground, Master, in this perception? Bringing my example, bringing my experience with the Master, within this look of the Master, in this Darshan, soon this True Meditation happens, this “State,” a “State” of stillness, of silence where the mind disappears. That would be Darshan – which the Master has already talked about – a way of being able to see and be seen – which is Darshan – a way of perceiving a Realized Being? I don't know if I've made myself clear, Master.

Master Gualberto – The most accurate way of recognizing that you are in front of a Realized Being is what he causes when you are in front of his Presence. If you can be in front of a Being and the vision of Something outside of the known, outside of time and outside of this sense of separation, when you are in front of him and something on this level occurs, if your mind quiets down, if your brain quiets down and there is this absence of this movement of past, present and future, of identity that separates in this instant of living, this can be a classic sign that you are in front of a Realized Being. In fact, for you to feel this, you can only be having a Revelation of your own Being. This is in itself the recognition of the Presence of Grace, which is the Presence of God. So, at that moment, the sense of separation between you and Grace in that form disappears. This is a very simple way of having this recognition that we are facing Grace itself in a form, because a Realized Being, this sense of separation between you and him dissolves when at some point there is this Power of Presence being shared, this Power of Consciousness being shared, this “ride” happening.

In India, they call it Darshan, it's seeing and being seen, it's being in front of a sight that is free of this sense of “I,” of the ego, and a Realized Being has this very clear in his eyes, his look carries Something that is outside the known, that is outside this sense of an “I,” that is outside this search in time, which is the search for love, for happiness, for peace, this search of the “I” for something. That which is present is already Meditation. When you come across a Realized Being, the presence of his Silence puts you in that state, which is your Natural State of Meditation. Especially at certain moments, he directs his eyes towards you and this glance is full of this Grace, full of this Presence, which completely sweeps away the sense of a present identity full of ideas, concepts, and beliefs – within spirituality or outside of spirituality – stuck in the political world, the philosophical world, the psychological world, or the business world. All this disappears and there is a complete emptying of this sense of egoic identity. So, he has an ease in communicating this State of Meditation to you, because this is his State. In fact, this is the Natural State he is in, his mind is quiet, there's a glimpse of this new Something. It's not what he says, it's not basically the way he speaks, it's the Presence, it's the Power, it's the Perfume, it's that mysterious Truth in the Power of his communication that gives you that vision.

So, when you're in Satsang, the invitation is to immerse yourself in that state. The Presence of Satsang, which is this encounter with Truth, is an invitation to recognize this instant of absence of psychological time, of absence of this sense of an “I,” it is the recognition of your Natural State, which is Meditation. This happens a lot, Gilson, very naturally, and you don't do anything. In fact, you discover how to be still, because the power of this Grace quiets you. It's something that is shared with you by the Presence itself, so all this disorder, this confusion, all this known movement of the mind is as if completely swept away at that moment. This is the contact with the one who is living this Natural State of Being. That's it.

Gilson – Master, gratitude, gratitude! Our time has ended. I would like to invite you, who are watching this video and by looking into the Master's eyes have been able to feel that which is beyond words, that Something that is challenging to express in words, but it is Something different, and in Satsang you have the opportunity to go deeper and, in this dive, take a “ride” with he Master to really perceive what this life is, this complete Freedom. So, here's the invitation: in the first comment, you'll find the link to the WhatsApp group for information about Satsangs. There are online Satsangs where this happens and also in face-to-face meetings. Also, please, give us a like and leave a comment, as this helps YouTube recognize that the content is relevant. Master, thank you for this videocast. See you next time!

Master Gualberto – Ok, see you next time!

Psychological suffering. Awakening, Spiritual Enlightenment. Psychological complexity. Unhappiness.

The question for you is: will it be possible to have a life – totally, completely – free from problems? First, we have to understand what we call “problems.” In fact, what are the problems? If we want to discover a total problem-free quality of life, we must understand what problems are. Here, I’m not talking about solving problems when they arise or appear, but rather understanding the nature, actually, the root of all problems.

In general, we want to solve problems, but we never really concern ourselves with the possibility of a free life, in Freedom; we don't even ask ourselves if life in Freedom is possible. Only a life in Freedom is life, yes, free from problems. So, we don't ask ourselves if a life in Freedom and therefore a life free from problems is possible. What we really want is to solve the problems – the problems that appear and arise. So, let’s begin! Let’s go in parts; let’s slowly walk here with you and look at this together.

The initial question was: what are problems? Not the search for a solution, but rather what are they? When do we come across a problem? We come across a problem when we don't have an understanding of what it actually represents. I'll give you an example: if you're driving your car and it has a problem on the road, that’s a problem if you're not a mechanic, you don't have the tools and everything you need inside the car. For the mechanic, if his car breaks down, and he has all the knowledge, it’s possible for him to solve that, to solve that given situation. What I mean is that when you have an understanding of a given thing, that’s not a problem for you; when you don't have the understanding, that’s a problem.

So, let’s look at something basic here: there are no problems; what exists is “someone” present. Constantly facing something that arises, that appears, as a challenge, as something present arising, how will this “someone” face this? That’s another thing. The way you’ll face the challenge, this, indeed, can represent a problem or not. If you have the knowledge, that is, the understanding of that, that’s not a problem. It’s a situation, a difficulty, but not a problem. I’ve just used a very basic, very simple illustration, but here, I want to address more complex issues, I mean these psychological issues.

Here on the channel, we work with you on the end of all problems, which is the end to every internal situation of complexity, difficulty, adversity, unhappiness, and psychological suffering. And if we work on this with you, we need to find out who is “one” who constantly comes across these internal, psychological adversities, these challenges that arise, which are a problem. Who is this “I”? Who am “I"? Who am “I” in the midst of this thought model of concern, anguish, painful remembrances, and bitter memories? Who am “I"? We need to discover that element in us that suffers. That element is the “I,” “me.” Notice how simple our approach is: every problem you have is simple because you are the problem. The ignorance about “yourself,” about the truth of that “I,” is what constitutes the real problem when a psychological challenge arises. Do you follow that?

When a bitter thought arises, this “I” is the problem; this “I” wants to do something, to get rid of this bitterness, of this pain created by thought, by this memory. This “I,” this element “I,” wants to do something with what arises at that moment, as a challenge, as a representation of remembrance, of memory, of bitter, painful memory, difficult to deal with; it wants to deal with it, to get rid of it, to do something about it. So, this element “I” is the one who suffers because it is in struggle, resistance, and trying to deal with something it knows nothing about. It does this when it separates itself from thought to try to do something, which is to run away from or get rid of it.

Notice what we put here in these meetings because our proposal is to work with you on the Awakening of Consciousness or Spiritual Enlightenment, which is the end of all the illusion of separateness between you and God, you and Life, you and Reality, and that’s indeed the end of all problems and therefore the end of all forms of suffering, which is the end of this “I.” We must understand the nature of the “I,” this “I” that suffers. The whole problem arises when that “I” is present. That “I” is basically ignorance, a fraud, an illusion. When a thought arises, it simultaneously appears to want to deal with it, to do something about it. I'll say it again: either it wants to get rid of or to get away from it, so problems remain.

A life free from problems is a life free from the “problematic,” which is the “I” – I refer, once again, to these problems of a psychological nature. The mechanical problem is to be solved by those who understand. If you don't understand mechanics, it’s no use, you won't be able to solve that problem; you need a minimum basic condition to have access to that breakdown, that mechanical difficulty, the part that has been damaged that is the cause of that problem. Psychologically, we have nothing but ourselves to deal with as we are. All we have is ourselves, and how we deal with ourselves in terms of thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations, and perceptions. As we don't know how to deal with what we are, here and now, within this experience, we are in trouble, we have a problem, or many, and therefore suffering.

The work of Realization the Truth about your Being, about who you truly Are, gives you an understanding of this illusion about who you believe you are. Understanding this illusion about who you believe to be reveals the comprehension of the Truth of your Being, and that’s the end of problems. Therefore, a life free from problems is a life free from this “I.” This “I” is the problem. What you need to understand is that there’s no suffering without the sufferer, no fear without the one who fears, no conflict without the one conflicted, and no problem without the problematic. It’s the sense of “I” present, the sense of “someone,” and that’s ignorance, illusion, the real cause of all the confusion in our lives, all suffering, dilemmas, and problems in our life.

What we have stated here from this direct observation – and you don't have to believe this, you can verify this for yourself – is that there’s no problem. Life doesn’t consist of problems; it consists of experiences, moment by moment; some are pleasant and some unpleasant. But, for whom are they pleasant or unpleasant? That’s what needs to be investigated – “Who am ‘I’? Who is this ‘I’?” Life doesn’t carry problems, moment by moment; it presents us with challenges, it’s a mystery revealing itself at every moment, but we carry this sense of the “I” present; we place an “I” within this experience that is life.

That “I” has a completely illusory, incorrect sense of perceiving reality, so there’s struggle and resistance. We resist thoughts, emotions, feelings, and forms of perception, and when we do that, we always have the presence of the “I,” which is the presence of the problematic one, the sufferer, this ego-identity. It’s the one who separates from the experience to do something with it, so the Truth of the moment is not understood because the sense of “I” can’t understand it.

We are always trying to deal with the present moment and that’s why it presents itself as something challenging for the ego since it comes with the past. The ego is basically this “I,” memory, remembrances, past, knowledge, and experiences, all of this is part of the past of this “I.” We want to deal with this present moment – which is the Beauty, the Mystery, the Truth, the Divine Truth showing itself – with this condition of self-centeredness, of egoic self-consciousness, of separateness, then the conflict, the problem is present – the dilemma, fear, and suffering.

A life free from problems is a life free from the “I,” that is, a life free from suffering, contradictions, every form of anxiety, depression, anguish, and that pain of separateness, which is the pain of loneliness. A life free from the ego is life as it IS, it’s no longer “my story,” “my life”; there’s no longer this idea people have of life where you are the one who has to fight, win, gain, conquer, accomplish, get rid of, escape, run away.

The Realization of your Being, Spiritual Enlightenment, the Awakening of Consciousness, the Flowering of your Divine Nature, and the Truth of God consist in understanding what You Are. When there’s this understanding, there’s no problem. Without the present sense of “I,” there’s no problem. You are constantly judging, evaluating, comparing, and wanting to change, to alter and resolve; and all of these are principles of a particular and egocentric vision of life, of the reality of how everything appears and how everything presents itself. You want to change the other, change the other’s ideas, thoughts, and beliefs; you want the other to be the way you want. We are always imposing on the other – and the other can be a person, the closest one: wife, husband, children, relationships, or can be life – this “I,” this ego, because we see ourselves separate, and in that vanity, in this illusion of the “I” there’s always the idea that something is wrong, out of place or can be different from what is. So, this sensor, this judge in us, this illusory center wants to adjust, correct, fix, and legislate on the mysterious movement of life; that’s egocentrism. Do you get that?

That’s how we've been living our days, our lives, and our history, and then asking, “How can we live free from problems?” No, that’s not possible. As long as the sense of “I” is present, there will be problems since the “I” is the only problem, the basis of all of them. I want to repeat: there’s no problem in life, in the world; there’s only the problem of the “I.” In fact, this world full of problems is just an expression of that “I” in us. There’s no separateness in this troubled world we live in. Yes, the world is full of problems because the “I” is the problem of this world. You in that “I” want to solve the world’s problems, but you don't realize that you are the world’s problem. All the problems in your life are problems in that particular life, which is that world that is the world of the “I.” I’m not denying the reality of the problems that exist in the world, just that the problems that exist in the world are problems that exist in the “I.” Envy and ambition have created this confusion, these struggles, conflicts, dilemmas; attachment, control, and desire have sustained envy, possession, and all this confusion that has become our lives because of this “I.”

If we wish the world well, want good for it and a better world, we have to leave it alone, and you leave the world alone when the sense of “I” disappears ending this illusion of “I,” which is the death of the past, of that illusion, the illusion of an egoic identity, of this sense of a present “I.” If we want the world without problems, we need to be free from the illusion of this identity we assume to be that interferes, gets involved, and wants something from the world. What we say is that there’s no world separate from the “I;” when that “I” disappears, the illusion of this suffering world also disappears. If there’s no such sufferer, there’s no suffering.

The Presence of your Being is the Presence of the Reality of God. If that is present, everything is in place. That’s very paradoxical, don't try to adjust all this to a model of thought; you need to be out of that model of thought, of mind, to understand the beauty life is, the Truth that is your Being. It’s when you can see everything in the right place where it is. All this is paradoxical. A look from the ego is a look of confusion, whereas a look from the Reality of this Intelligence, Consciousness, Love, from the Happiness of your Being presents you with everything in its place; everything is this Reality of God; therefore, everything is in place. Ok?

All this may seem very strange to you and very crazy, but who is “this one” who is crazy? “Who am ‘I'?” The vision of the Reality of God is the vision of the Reality. God is the only Truth present, and nothing, absolutely nothing is outside of what God Is, the Reality of your Being. Ok?

This is the subject here on our channel; if this is something that makes sense to you – outside the sense of thought because only outside the sense of thought will it make sense – leave your “like” and subscribe to the channel. I want to remind you: we have online, face-to-face meetings, and also retreats, where we work with those who approach.

That’s the end of all illusion, and it’s the Realization of Love and Happiness of your Being. Ok? Thanks for the meeting and see you!

What are we looking for? Psychological freedom. The Awakening of Consciousness. Great restlessness.

Alright! The matter here is: what are we looking for? The question is: what do we look for in life? What we are actually looking for in life is Happiness. Every human being is looking for this, however, when you look at the world, it is chaos, disorder, and confusion. There’s a lot of fear, violence, and suffering in the world. So, for us, the idea of this encounter with happiness is the encounter with the freedom from this kind of thing that happens in the world. For us, the idea of freedom and happiness is something that needs to be investigated.

Our quest is for happiness. Happiness is not possible without Freedom, so, at first, human beings are looking for freedom to find happiness due to that freedom. So, we talk about economic freedom, freedom of speech, and freedom to do what we want, feel satisfied, and fulfilled. We always talk about this issue of freedom we need to have and, for us, this freedom is external, it’s always an external freedom to internally realize this happiness. Let’s take it in steps.

Looking at the world, we see this chaos, this confusion, disorder, all suffering, the fear that prevails in the world, and we believe that we are not happy, that there’s no happiness since we don’t have the freedom to perform externally a life that gives us that, because the world doesn't allow us to have this happiness.

So, what are people doing? They are looking for happiness in external fulfillment. They believe that if they have more relationships, more money, more free time, and more external order in their lives, they will be happy and there’ll be happiness. And then we look at the world and see that the world doesn’t live like this. Thus, notice: we idealize too much, we have ideas, concepts, and beliefs about what happiness is and where we have to find that happiness; and the idea we have is that happiness will happen to each one of us when everything in our life is going on within that freedom we idealize.

When we look at the world and see all this confusion, suffering, all this conflict in which human beings live in their relationships, when we look at this world and look at our own lives, we can’t realize that our life – and here when I refer to this “our life” it’s this idea we have of life, which consists of our closest relationships, which are with our relatives, husband, wife, children, family – it’s a confusion, the very same confusion present in the world, the very same chaos present in the world. The clutter here is the clutter there. The world, billions of people, is just an extension of this small society we know that we call family. The world, human society, and human beings are us.

We need to find out what Real Freedom is. And to have access to this Real Freedom we must discover something very basic here: when there’s this Real Freedom, we really have access to Happiness in our lives. When we have access to this Real Freedom, we really have access to Happiness. We have to inquire about what Freedom is.

In general, the idea of freedom is always external and we always live in these ideas, idealizing a freedom that when we look at the world, we don't see it, when we look at our closest relationship – which are with our family members, with those we live with every day – we realize that this is not real. It’s not real because there’s no understanding of the Truth about who we are.

The point is that we are always projecting external freedom, which doesn’t occur, doesn’t happen, we are always waiting for happiness to happen in our lives from the outside. So, we need to find out what Freedom is. Freedom is not something you find externally, something you realize externally, it’s something you find within your Being, since that’s the Nature of the Truth about who you Are. This “'non-contact'” with the Reality about who you Are has you watching a world that is a reflection of our internal confusion, in this disorder, conflict, this chaos.

Here, we have to find out what Freedom is. This Freedom is present when the Truth of Your Being, which is the Nature of God in You, reveals itself. All the chaos, confusion, violence, and suffering in the world, are present as a reflection of our confusion. In this internal confusion we live in, there’s no Freedom, and if there’s no Freedom, there’s no Happiness. The work in this life, in this existence, is to discover the Truth of your Being, the Truth of your Divine Nature. Notice that our life – human life – is very short. We spend our days, which are so short, involved in problems, in this chaos, in this confusion, laden with fear, with desires, in great restlessness, without this Freedom – and here it’s about internal Freedom and not external. You can have freedom of speech, economic freedom, freedom to come and go, but without that inner Freedom – which is the absence of that ego, that “I,” the end of this confusion, of all this disorder within –, there’ll be no Freedom, no Happiness.

Our meetings here are opportunities to investigate the illusory nature of the egoic mind, this pattern of feeling and thinking based on this psychological confusion. It’s this internal, psychological confusion that makes us live in this world the way the world is living, where there’s fear, violence, disorder, confusion, all part of this internal confusion, this internal disorder, this internal chaos.

So, what are we actually looking for? We are looking for Happiness, and that Happiness is only present when there’s Freedom – not external freedom, but rather internal Freedom. As long as there’s no internal Freedom, there’ll be no external freedom. As long as there’s no Peace in each one of us, there’ll be no peace in the world. Peace in society and the world, as well as peace at home or with the closest relationships we call family, is only possible when you are at Peace. When there’s Peace in you, there’s this presence of psychological Freedom. It’s this psychological Freedom that we need. This psychological Freedom in us is the Freedom of the world, this Peace in us is the Peace of the closest relationships, the Peace of society, the Peace of the world. The happiness present here, at this moment, in you, is the happiness of the closest relationships, so it’s up to each one of us to understand the Truth about ourselves. The understanding of This, the deep and Real understanding of This, is the end of this quest.

So, what are we looking for in this life? What are we looking for? We are actually looking for ourselves. The acknowledgment, the contact, or the encounter with ourselves is the encounter with the Reality of Freedom, Happiness, and Peace, and that’s the end of the confusion, the disorder, the chaos, and the suffering in the world. There will never be Real Love in your life without the presence of this understanding of the Truth about who you ARE, no matter how good your intentions are, how willing you are to cooperate, to be an accomplice, to contribute, help, participate, serve, care, and love. Understand this expression to love: to love is possible when Love is present, not when the desire, the interest, the will, the goodwill is present, because all this is part of the ego, part of the “I,” and this “I,” basically, is confusion. No matter how well-intentioned this “you” – this “me,” this “I” – is, without that Freedom, which is this understanding of your Essential Nature, the Nature of God, there’ll be no presence of Love; and without the presence of Love, to love is impossible. To love is the presence of Divine Grace, of the Love that is God, which is the Nature of Being.

So, what are we looking for? What do we seek? What are we looking for in this life? The Truth of who we are! And the Truth of who we are is Beauty, Grace, Compassion, and Truth. All this is within Love, but our choices, intentions, desires, and motives, always personal, are based on this illusion – which is the illusion of the “I,” this way of remaining in life in this ignorance about who we are – keeps us in this state of restlessness, of incompleteness, and that’s why we live in this search. Then, there’s always a search and it’s the search for happiness, but always externally, in external achievements, conquests, objectives, and targets. Here, Freedom is abiding in the Truth which is your Being, then we have the presence of Divine Reality, and when This is present, Happiness is present. It’s important to say here that it’s not about the happiness of the person, the whole intention in us to find happiness is always a personal, particular intention, always the idea of the particular happiness being found. There’s no such thing as private happiness. In Happiness, like Love, there’s no “someone” present, no direction, it’s not something that goes towards “a,” “b” or “c.” Love present has no direction, no particularity, it’s not conditional; Peace present is not conditional, it has no direction, no particularity.

We have all this language, but it’s just language that we don't understand what we're saying when we use the expression “unconditional love.” What we call “love” can’t be unconditional, it’s always conditional. When there’s Love, it’s something that truly transcends that idea. Love is Love, and Love is present in this Truth of loving, and this is possible when God is present, when Being assumes His place in that body-mind. When this occurs – some people have called this Realization of God “the Awakening of Consciousness” – it’s the Reality of your Being, which is Happiness and Freedom present.

Our meeting, our work together here is about this approach, the approach of the Truth of What we are, here and now. This is the subject we are working on with you here on the channel. If this is something that makes sense to you, leave your “like” and subscribe to the channel. I want to remind you: we have online, face-to-face meetings, and also retreats, where we are working with those who approach. Ok?

If this is something that makes sense, see you next meeting. Thanks for the meeting!

Enlightenment, Realization of God | Psychological complexity | Psychological suffering | Non-Duality

Here on this channel, we work with you to end the illusion of the sense of identity present at this instant, this moment. This is what some call the Awakening of Consciousness or Spiritual Enlightenment. Therefore, we need to understand what happens to us in these contacts, whether with objects, places, or people. This contact has to be investigated. Notice that this may sound a little strange to those who suddenly “parachuted” into this canal. After all, what are we talking about here?

“See, you’ve just said that there’s no “I” present in the experience, what is that? After all, what are you telling us?” This is the subject we explore on the channel. People use expressions like Spiritual Enlightenment, Awakening of the Self, the Awakening of Truth, or Realization of God, but they don't understand; they have just ideas, beliefs, and concepts about it.

The truth about this is the end of the illusion of identity present here, at this moment, in this experience, separating itself from Life and everything around. This identity works as a center around which the world is happening, so there’s this perception of objects, places, and people, and this is always seen within this principle of separateness, where there is this “I” present and the world around this “I.”

Thus, the sense of “I” is an illusion, because the only Reality present in this experience is the Reality of God or Real Consciousness. We have various names for this Present Reality; we’ve given it various names: Truth, Consciousness, Non-Separateness, or Non-Duality. Here it’s about the Reality of your Being, your Real Identity, your Divine Nature. So, this approach we have here within the channel, working on this matter of Self-Awareness, of the perception of Reality, the Truth of our Being, which some people call Enlightenment, is what we are dedicated to working together here on the channel.

What is the truth of this “I”? We see ourselves as a person present within this experience of perceiving the world. So, in front of that tree, that chair, or that person, this space between the tree, the chair, or the person and “I”, a space is created by a belief, an idea, the idea that I’m here separate from the world around me, being “someone.” From the psychological viewpoint, this is exactly what happens – not from the viewpoint of Reality. Everything present here within this experience of living, moment by moment, no matter what is present, be it a tree, a chair, a person, or whatever appears around you – when I say around you, I mean around this body-mind, this mechanism, this organism – it’s part of a single present Reality, it’s life as it shows itself, life as it presents itself. Then, from the viewpoint of life, there’s no separateness, no division.

Separateness is apparent in colors, names, and shapes, but the truth is that everything is interconnected; everything is one unique Reality present, the Reality of Being, of God, of Consciousness. So, it’s always from the psychological viewpoint that this division, separateness or multiplicity is seen. In this multiplicity, division, and separateness, we have, psychologically, internally, within each one of us, the burden of contradiction, conflict, pain, and suffering. This is because we see ourselves as separate entities building a world, accomplishing things, achieving personal, particular goals, centered on this “I.” This “I” separating itself from life, from existence, is constantly producing conflict and suffering.

Life free from this sense of “I” within that experience – what some people call Spiritual Enlightenment, Spiritual Awakening – is the Realization of your Being, the Realization of God. So, together we need to realize the beauty of Self-Awareness, to know ourselves, to know the Truth about who we are or what we believe we are in this instant, this present moment, in life.

Looking at what is happening here and now, psychologically, and internally, makes us realize that the perception we have is not simple, not direct, not objective; it is complex, not simple, and subjective. We don’t have a direct perception of what is shown at this moment, we are not left with just the perception of the senses. When we look at a tree, maybe it’s much simpler when we don't have any botanical knowledge, any idea, any knowledge about that tree; it’s possible just to look at the tree, at its shape, its branches, its leaves, the design it forms, its shape, it’s possible just to look without an idea; but when we have some knowledge, we immediately project the knowledge we have onto this tree. When we do this, we are reacting psychologically, internally, to this experience of looking, of “seeing the tree.” This psychological reaction is the basis of this psychological being with which we mistake ourselves for, which we believe ourselves to be. It’s the same with a chair: when we look at a chair, we don't get a visual perception, an aesthetic perception of its lines, its shape. We project ourselves sitting in the chair or internally evaluate how it would feel to be sitting there; when we do this, if there’s this reaction, this internal conditioning alters the perception, it’s no longer a simple, direct, objective perception.

When we deal with people, we do the same. We judge, evaluate, we fit them into an idea, a belief, or an opinion. Thus, this way of getting closer to the perception of the world, of life, of whatever is emerging here, at that instant, that moment, is something that needs to be investigated. Thus, Self-Awareness is the way we have to get closer to ourselves – here I refer to psychologically looking at what’s going on, every thought, feeling, and emotion which is a reaction.

I've been talking about the importance of getting closer to oneself, watching this movement of reaction. To observe this movement of reaction is to have an approach to this perception, to perceive what we are doing with this perception within this life experience, within this experience of the world. Either this perception is complex and distorted, because it’s based on this psychological reaction, or it’s simple and natural. If it’s complex, the way we approach the world around us is based on that background that is the “I,” the ego, that illusory center, that identity with which we mistake ourselves for. It [complex perception] separates itself from experience, from the object. This way of perceiving the world is the wrong way of seeing oneself, of perceiving oneself in life. This is what explains all the contradictions, dilemmas, disorders, and suffering in our lives.

We don't have a way of getting closer within a very simple, direct perception, without the reactive element that is the “I,” the ego, which is based on this knowledge, these thoughts, these feelings, this “I like this” or “I don't like it” – this “like” and “dislike.” So, we are always evaluating, comparing, judging, and distorting the reality of experience when we place ourselves within it as the center of that experience, reacting, and responding psychologically to something simple and natural, which is that moment. Is it alright?

There’s a way to approach this moment within this experience in contact with this object, in this place, with this place, with this person, there’s a way to approach this without this element, which is the “I” element, ego, this element “me.” Then, Self-Awareness is the way we have here to approach ourselves by looking, just observing what thought, feeling, and emotion are saying within this experience, what this represents, what this means for this “me,” for this “I.” A life free from that sense of “I,” that sense of ego, a life free, without comparison, judgment, knowledge, opinion, or idea, without the sense of “someone” present, is a life free from suffering.

So, there are two ways to approach this perceiving: (1) in a direct, simple natural way, without the “me” element, and that’s the Real perceiving of what IS, what is here, what this tree is, what this chair is, or what this person is – everything is what IS, the tree, the chair or the person, each thing is as it IS – we approach, and this approach is in this simple and natural perception, without concept, belief, idea, prejudgment, and, therefore, without separateness, because the sense of “I” is not there; (2) or we approach through this “I,” this psychological complexity and, therefore, with this entire background, which has become the cause of all the psychological suffering in our lives.

What we are doing on this channel is showing you that a life free from the “I,” the ego, from that illusory element, that false center that is the ego, is possible. Yes, the ego is a false center, that false center sustaining separateness, division, and, therefore, every form of contradiction. Every form of psychological unhappiness in human beings, anxiety, depression, fear, anguish, envy, jealousy, all of this is part of how the “I,” that false center that is the ego has behaved in this life. Therefore, the observation of the movement of the “I,” of the ego, through Self-awareness, is the end for this illusion.

Thus, the relationship between the perception of what IS, of Life as it shows itself, without the “I” element, the ego element, and the Self-Awareness is something essential and fundamental. It’s when Something entirely new is revealed in your life, which is the Presence of your Natural State of Pure Consciousness. This Pure Consciousness is not that “I” consciousness, it’s not this egoic consciousness, so it’s not that mental consciousness, which distorts, alters, and reacts to whatever is appearing within that experience. This Real Consciousness, this Divine Consciousness – I‘ve called Being-Consciousness-Bliss – is the Nature of God, here and now, when the “I” is not present.

Thus, our subject on this channel is to work with you and show that it’s possible to end the false center – the ego – the end of this sense of separateness – the duality – this relationship between “I and the other,” “I and nature” – the tree, the birds, the animals, life – or “I and the objects,” like that chair, the table, any furniture, every inanimate object around you. The sense of a center around which things revolve disappears. Here I mean psychologically: the tree is there and you are here physically, but there’s no psychological separateness because there’s not this “me” element, the “I,” the illusion of a present identity separating and, therefore, coming into contradiction, conflict, struggle, and suffering.

You don't want to change the world, to change life, to change the other; therefore, there is no stress, no anxiety, no fear. If that false center – the ego – is not present, there’s no longer any form of psychological suffering, any distortion. That’s the way of perceiving or Real perceiving. That Real perception or Real perceiving is present when the “I” is not there, so it’s possible to see, hear, feel, and live. In this living, there’s only life; in this “feel,” there’s only feeling, there’s no “someone” in this; in this “listen,” there’s only listening, there’s no “someone” in it; in that “see,” there’s only seeing, there’s no “someone” in it. Thus, all illusion of the “I” is gone; all illusion of separateness is gone. Life reveals itself; it shows itself in this totality, in this beauty, in this uniqueness, then What now prevails at this instant is the presence of Truth, Love, Peace, and Happiness.

The Realization of God is the Realization of your Being. It’s not you realizing This, it’s your Being finding itself to be the only Reality present, your Being realizing the Reality that It is, here and now. That Reality is the Reality of God, at that end of the “I,” the end of the sense of an ego-identity.

It’s something important to understand that this ego-identity or this egoic identity, this false center – the ego – is only made up of remembrances, memories, ideas, concepts, imaginations, all forms of knowledge and experience that have given a format to this illusory sense, of an identity that is constantly judging, evaluating, liking, disliking, accepting and rejecting life as it is shown, which represents a profound psychological conditioning, the profound illusion of the “I.” So, this Realization of Truth is the Realization of Love, of Peace, the Realization of God.

Therefore, if this is something that makes sense to you – as I’ve been saying on the channel at the end of these meetings – leave your “like” and subscribe to the channel. I want to remind you: we have online, face-to-face meetings and also retreats, where we work with you, ok?

And here is the invitation, take a look at the video description and join our WhatsApp group. Ok? If that touches you, here’s the invitation and see you next time. Thanks for the meeting!

Self-awareness and action free from ego | Real Meditation | Real action and egocentric activity

Here on the channel, we have a playlist about the Truth of Self-Awareness and action free from the ego. Why action free from the ego? We do not understand the nature of or the truth about action. We do not know the structure of true action. And why do I put true action here? Because it is the action we need in life.

Our actions up until now, due to the ignorance in which we find ourselves psychologically, internally have been conflicting, problematic, confused, and disoriented, always leading us to complications, dilemmas, adversities, and problems because they are actions centered on the “I,” on the ego. Notice that our actions are not real; they are merely egocentric activities.

There is a difference between action... Here, action is the movement that meets this instant, this present moment, with precision, with skill, with Truth, with Intelligence. That is action. There is a difference between this action and the mere activity of the “I.” The egocentric activity of the person is the activity of confusion.

People want to get it right; they say: “How do I do the right thing?” or “How to act under pressure?” “How do I get it right?” “How do I not get it wrong again?” So, these are questions people ask with the intention of discovering an action that, for them, is the best possible. However, we never investigate this issue of action and where that action comes from.

As long as our actions are based on thought, they are incomplete. That's the point. Here, at this moment, life as it presents itself challenges us all the time, at every moment, at every instant. What we have placed here for you is very simple. Observe. Right now, you are being asked to take action. Yes, listening here requires a listening, a very real precision to meet this moment in this action, in this act of listening, or simply everything that will be put here will only be at the intellectual, verbal level, at most, since you may not even be able to follow intellectually because of the psychological distractions we generally have.

When you listen to a talk like this, an action is requested, and that action is to listen without comparison, without evaluation, without judgment because when you do that, what is being said begins to pass through a filter of acceptance and rejection, and that is not listening. Here, the invitation is to discover the art of listening.

Attending to this moment requires this action free of this psychological background of concepts, prejudices, opinions, and judgments. Only listening. What we say here may be real or not; when there is this art of listening, the Truth of what we place here becomes clear. The Truth can be the direct comprehension of the Reality of this or the non-reality in what we are saying, but it requires, for example, this action free from the ego mind.

Notice that, it is always the egoic mind that drives us to an action centered on that psychological background of conditioning, history, and cultural patterns. So, in this case, we listen based on our prejudices, concepts, ideas, desires, and fears, and that is not the art of this action of listening. We are just giving an example here.

In life, we are challenged to take action at every moment. We need to discover what a mind free of ego is; and therefore, a mind free of all forms of psychological conditioning. This free mind we could call “no mind.” The expression “free mind”... In general, we understand the mind as a movement of thought: restless, chattering, prejudiced thoughts, full of concepts and images. So, for us, “mind” is synonymous with thought-movement. This thought-movement, as it comes from the past, is conditioning. Then, we live inside a conditioned mind. We do not know this Truth of the “free mind,” this Natural State free of the egoic mind, and therefore free of the mind. Thus, our actions are centered on thought.

Thought is memory, remembrances, recollections, and experiences. From these experiences, memories, and recollections, from this mind, thus conditioned to act from intention, motivation, desire, and fear, our actions are self-centered, self-interested activities – centered on the egoism of this person as we see ourselves. We see ourselves as separate from each other. We carry countless desires, fears, internal contradictions, and conflicts of an emotional, sentimental nature, and all of these we also express in our actions – in these physical actions.

So, psychologically, we live in conflict and suffering, loaded with problems, anguish, frustration, and disappointment. The psychological movement, which is the movement of the “I” in us – of this conditioned mind, is always with the intention of achieving, gaining, accomplishing something – always in the future – or getting rid of, keeping something away from us. To gain something or get rid of something. So, fear is something present. When our actions are born from this psychological conditioning, from this model of mind programmed in action, in self-centered action, in the action of self-interest, of egoism, this is the action of duality; this is because there is “me and the world,” “me and the other,” “me and life,” “me and the acting,” “me and action,” “me and thought,” “me and my emotions and feelings.” You see, this is duality.

So, we live within a principle of separateness, of duality, where there is this “me and the other thing.” The action centered on this intention, this motivation, is the action of separation, of self-interest, of the problem. I have called this action an egocentric activity. We live within a model where there is no real action, but rather egocentric activity.

Is there action free from the “I,” the ego? At certain moments in life, this happens. We are surprised by an action that happens to us at a given moment, and we perceive that it was simply a selfless action – an action born from a completely different quality of Being than what we have generally seen in ourselves. It was a loving, compassionate, selfless action; it was just an expression born from within us from a dimension we do not even know where it came from. Sometimes, we find ourselves after the action remembering it saying: “What a strange thing! It just happened.”

So yes, there are moments in our lives when an action free from the ego takes place. For example, smiling at someone. In a very simple and natural way a smile springs to your face. There's no intention, motivation, or interest behind that smile; it's just an action, a simple, direct smile. A compassionate, loving look. When you come across a child, when you come across nature, when you come across a person's face, you've never seen them, you don't know their name, and suddenly you find yourself smiling. There was no premeditation, no intention; it just happened. That is an example of an action, an action free of this personal “I” center, this egocentric movement.

The issue of actions in us is problematic because they are born from this doer. This doer comes into existence based on a movement of thought. This movement is a movement of self-interest. Therefore, this thinker, this doer, moves into action based on the past. Attending this instant, this present moment without the model of thought is without the model of the past, so Real action takes place. Real action is born from this unknown dimension when the “I,” the ego, is not there.

So, the invitation here on the channel is to discover the Truth about who we are when that “I” we seem to be, we show ourselves to be, we want to be, is no longer present. What we are telling you here is that there is Something present here and now that can attend to this instant without the background of psychological conditioning that is the experiencer, the thinker, the “I;” this premeditated, calculated movement of thought that comes from the past and shows itself, at this moment, moving, creating situations. This action is that of stress, fear, desire, and the search for a result to achieve something.

This movement of egocentric activity disappears when the Reality of this Being, of this Divine Truth present here and now, shows itself. We need to discover the action free from the ego. Self-awareness, the comprehension of the movement of the “I” itself, just looking at this movement, becoming aware of it at this instant, brings this movement, this action to an end because the “I” disappears. Becoming aware of the movement of the “I” is the end of that movement – and therefore the end of this “I.”

We have to investigate the nature of thought and how to live free of it. Thinking is necessary at some level. At the level of memory, recollection, and recognition – of something practical and objective. We need thought for a technical movement, a functional action, or to work in a given profession. But in contact with the other, with ourselves, with life, the presence of thought as the basis for action is conflict; it is a problem, suffering, the action centered on the “I.”

Looking at you and recognizing your face and your name is very simple; however, carrying around a psychological image of who you are, having the illusion that I know you based on that concept, that image, that idea I have about you, like or dislike, that is the mistake. Our actions in our relationships with family, wife, children, boss, coworker – our actions in the world have been of this kind, centered on this psychological background, this psychological conditioning. Is that alright?

That is our subject here with you on the channel. Discovering the Truth of the comprehension of this inner movement, which is the movement of the “I” – that is Self-Awareness. Then, naturally, the Truth of Real Meditation arises. The comprehension of this movement is the end for the “I” and the emergence of true action, which is the action of Consciousness, of Intelligence, of the Truth of this Being, of this Unknown Reality.

That is our subject here with you on this channel. We are signaling the Spiritual Awakening, the Realization of God, the Spiritual Enlightenment to you. There are many names for this Natural State of Being, where the action is free from the ego. So, that is the subject we work on here with you on the channel. We have online meetings on weekends. You can see our WhatsApp link to participate in these meetings in the video description here. We also have face-to-face meetings and retreats. If this makes sense to you, please leave your like here, subscribe to the channel, and write a comment: “Yes, it makes sense.” OK? See you. Thanks for the meeting, and see you next time!

Joel Goldsmith | Arrows on the Infinite Way | How to quiet the mind? | Master Gualberto

GC: Hello everyone! We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto has accepted our invitation to be here. Gratitude, Master, for this meeting. Guys, today I'm going to bring an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith's book called “Arrows on the Infinite Way,” and, in that book, Master, Joel quotes the following: “The human mind is always offended by the Truth, because it is contrary to everything it knows. Imagine the affront to a man proud of his intellectual knowledge, when it is said that all his mental dynamism will not benefit him as much as a single moment of Silence would do.” On this topic, Master, about this “mental silence” ... How to achieve this mental silence, how to quiet the mind? Can you talk a little bit about it?

MG: The point is always… We have to start from a true position about this. First, our questions, Gilson, are formulated from our experiences, but we do not investigate our experiences. So, our questions are based on the common experience of this common human mind. So, it is natural that these questions do not have a very precise formulation for a perfectly complete answer. How to achieve silence? How to achieve this silence of the mind? We need to first understand how the mind works, that is the way. So, we will know how to ask a question related to this subject, with probity. The question is: how does the mind work?

If we understand how the mind works, we will understand how we function to deal with it, to deal with that mind. So, let's go: what is basically the functioning of the mind? A process of thoughts occurring, happening. And what are these thoughts? These thoughts are memories, they are remembrances. So, all the thoughts in us, being processed, are thoughts that have as their principle remembrances, recollections, and past images. So, when we talk about restlessness of the mind or this model of thought that runs uncontrolled within each one of us, we are talking about this process of thought, of memory, that has not been observed, that has not been verified.

The science of “silence of the mind” is not about quieting the mind through practice, a technique, or a system. In general, when we ask how to quiet the mind, how to silence the mind, we are looking for a technique, a system, a practice, and here it is about bringing Consciousness to this moment. [Bringing] Consciousness to this moment makes you aware of this movement of restlessness, which is sustained by this unconsciousness. Bringing Consciousness to this moment is observing the movement of the mind. Observing the movement of the mind is becoming aware of this model of the present “I,” which is this thinker that sustains itself – the ego, which is this thinker, which is the “I” ... sustains itself exactly in this unconsciousness of maintaining the movement of thoughts, which occurs unconsciously.

So, here we touch on the issue of Meditation. Meditation is becoming aware of this movement of the mind, so that this movement finds the necessary order for itself. So, the process of restlessness in us, this model of mental chatter, which is also verbalized in our relationships with people – at all times we are verbalizing and saying things based on this internal chatter – all of this takes place in this unconsciousness. Bringing Consciousness to this movement of thought is the basis for this Silence. Then, the mind goes through an entirely new and unknown process, which is this process of Silence.

I call this Real Stillness, because it is not a stillness that you impose on the mind through effort, through will, through self-discipline, through a technique, through a practice. We spend a good part of our lives, and, in general, most people, Gilson, spend a whole life without awareness of how chatty they are internally and completely unaware that this is a psychological life model of great waste of energy, producing a lot of conflict, a lot of contradiction, and a lot of suffering for themselves. All of this is due to the lack of this vision of oneself, of knowing oneself, of understanding this internal movement of how the mind works. So, the absence of this vision is the absence of Meditation.

So, our emphasis is on working on ourselves, so that this Truth of That which is beyond this common mind, of how we work within this pattern, disappears, because this is the continuity of the “I,” the continuity of the ego, it is the continuity of this “thinker” in us, which is this movement of unconsciousness, which is this movement of remembrances and memories. To observe the movement of the mind is to become aware of the confusion in which, psychologically, we find ourselves, and that is the end of this thing. Only the awareness of this gives you the possibility of leaving this pattern, of leaving this model, of going beyond this mind, which is the mind of the “I,” which is the egoic mind.

GC: Master, within this topic of meditation, could you talk a little more about this Real Meditation? Because, within Joel Goldsmith's writings, Joel talks about a contemplative life, but he also talks about a practice of meditation, and to me, for example, this matter of practice was very strong. So, there were specific times when I did my meditation: early in the morning, in the morning, at night… And when I didn't… when I couldn't, for example, wake up early to do my meditation… wow! It was a kind of lost day! A process of guilt came and it kept demanding me, or, many times – I have children – I was in that rush, and the children, the wife… and, after a while, I spoke like that… even my wife jokes that I spoke like that: “Ah, the father has to meditate.” Then I would leave the chaos there with the children and go to my little room, lock myself in the little room, then sit down to try to find some stillness. And you, Master, bring a very different, very real vision of this. Can you talk a little more about it, Master?

MG: Meditation, Gilson, is not something you set out to do. So, here we are already faced with a mistake, because who is this person who decides to do this? So, perhaps our approach here is a slightly different approach. Looking at this moment, looking at this movement, which is the movement of the “I,” which is the movement of the ego, without “placing the thinker,” which is the one who manages or believes he manages the thought, is the basis for Meditation. This is not something that you can do based on a will, a volition, a desire, a determination, with you being the own thinker, the “I” itself.

So, in reality, we are faced here with something that challenges us to give, at this moment, Attention that is only present when the “thinker” is not there, when the “I” is not there. So, it's not something you can decide to do, choose to do and determine times to do. It is now, here, that thought is present, so it is now, here, the moment of the awareness of this movement, which is the movement of thought. The awareness of this movement requires attention to this movement, which will naturally dispense with the very element that is producing this, which is the “thinker.” So, it is a delicate subject, it is a subject that requires a new approach.

What people do in the name of meditation is not Real Meditation. Real Meditation, True Meditation, is the awareness of the movement of thought, which, in this awareness, the element, which is the “thinker,” is absent. When this element, which is the “thinker,” is absent, this model of continuity of thought is broken. That's when thought really disappears. This is awareness of That which is beyond the egoic mind, beyond this model of restless thinking and, naturally, beyond this “thinker,” beyond the “I.” So, the “I,” the “person,” the ego, the “thinker,” has nothing to do with Meditation. The presence of the “thinker,” the “I,” the ego… In fact, the presence of the “meditator” is the absence of Meditation.

Understand this clearly: looking at this movement, which is the movement of thought, without someone who is ready to look, who is ready to direct the thought, who wants to do something with thought – that is Meditation. So, the only thing present in the Truth of Meditation is not a technique, it is not a practice, it is not a system, but it is the awareness that this movement is happening here and now, and this awareness is possible when there is Attention, Attention without choice, without direction, without redirection to that thought; and this is something here, right now. Detail, Gilson: it’s moment by moment! It's this instant! There is no other time other than this moment for this to be verified.

So, it's not about withdrawing and doing a practice, because... what about outside of that moment? What are we doing with a practice? We adapt, mechanically, to a model where the brain itself begins to quiet down due to a technique, but it quiets down and, soon after the practice, it returns to its routine. So, this is not Real Meditation.

We need to discover the art of being this Consciousness. This is now, this is here! So, what makes this possible is this Attention, the Truth of this Real Attention about ourselves, now, about ourselves, in a true way, about this whole process of thinking, feeling, and acting. So, Meditation encompasses not only observing thought, but observing your gestures, your speech, everything that occurs. Bringing awareness to this moment is Meditation. It's not the body still, the eyes closed... It's the awareness of life as it occurs in this moment.

GC: Master, indeed, no matter how much one practices this meditation practice, incompleteness always remains. So, it is something that, really, is like the Master already commented: a dog chasing its tail, because it is within the “I” itself, the ego itself. It works a lot, Master – I see that it did for me –, as an escape, because I was there in the middle of the conflict, the children screaming, a riot… I escaped to the little room. Then, I would be silent, then I would be more relaxed... But it's not something real, it was what my mind produced. And even within this aspect, Master, we have a question here from a channel subscriber, @danilocesar3961. He asks the following: “We are the silence we achieve in meditation, aren’t we? The question is: how can we remain in this state of silence?”

MG: So, notice the question. He says, “Are we not the silence we attain?” This is where we are faced with an illusion, Gilson. When you practice meditation, you encounter silence. And then he asks: “Aren’t we already that silence?” See, this silence is exactly the silence that occurs due to a technique, a practice, but you cannot remain in that silence as you wish, and the greatest proof of this is that when you leave this so-called “meditation practice,” where is this silence? So, the awareness of Truth is the revelation of Silence; not that silence that we achieve, but the Silence that reveals itself when the “I” is not there, when the ego is not there, and this is only possible when there is this awareness of the movement of the “I,” of the ego.

So, Gilson, without understanding the movement of the “I” itself, there is no Real Meditation. This is the point! Becoming aware of your own movement of anger, fear, envy, jealousy, worries, anxiety, whatever is arising here, right now, this is the real approach to Meditation, because this is Self-Awareness. If you take a moment to close your eyes and become still, I will repeat: the brain becomes still, and when it becomes still, a space opens up: it is the space of silence, but it is a silence forged by a technical stillness, by a stillness practice. I have called this self-hypnosis. This is a way for you to de-stress, relax... However, this is not an approach to the Truth of Meditation, because the Truth of Meditation is present when there is Self-Awareness.

This explains, Gilson, why some people have been meditating for thirty years, but are still angry, anxious, worried, full of fear, jealous, greedy... In short, the sense of “I” is still present, despite thirty years of practice of meditation, because this so-called “meditation practice” is not the Truth of Meditation, because there is no Self-Awareness. If you don’t clear the ground – and clearing the ground means becoming aware of how this “I” moves internally and how it expresses itself externally as well, in our relationships; this is Self-Awareness – without this foundation, there is no Truth for Meditation. So, you remain a practitioner of meditation, but the “I” is there, the “I” practitioner is there, whereas the Truth of Meditation is the elimination of that “I,” in this instant, here and now, in this moment. This is contact with Meditation.

So, it is impossible for the Truth of your Being to reveal itself without the Truth of Meditation, but the Truth of Meditation is impossible without Self-Awareness. So, that's the point, that's the whole point: without Self-Awareness there is no true Meditation! You have now touched on the issue of taking refuge in meditation. People use meditation as a refuge for themselves. It's as if they were looking for a trench and entered that trench to protect themselves from the incoming fire. You know, the trenches are built for the soldier to get in there and protect themselves from the incoming fire. People also practice meditation, as a technique or a practice, to be inside a trench, also protected from the onslaught of the egoic mind, and they can, temporarily, be protected from fire, but they cannot live inside a trench; they will have to leave. So, Gilson, no one can always keep on escaping.

Meditation is not something we do to escape. People are trying to escape stress, escape from anxiety, escape from fury, anger, fear, jealousy, envy, and suffering. So, some use medication and others use meditation. We do not have, here, the Truth of Liberation from suffering through an escape. Therefore, it is necessary for us to understand what the Truth of Meditation is.

That is why this so-called “spirituality” that goes out there is the spirituality of mystical, esoteric, spiritualist practice, of orisons, prayers and meditations, and, however, the sense of “I,” of the ego, in people, continues intact. It remains intact because there is no real work on oneself, of revealing the study of themselves, for themselves, in this awareness of self-observation and this approach to the Truth of Meditation.

GC: Master, it's funny, as you mentioned, when we enter this trench in the practice of meditation, there is a false sensation of peace or silence, but just by getting out of the trench, all the mental mess, suffering, and anger are present. And the detail, Master – and I want the Master to talk a little bit… For example: for me, as I had been practicing for years… I left the practice, so the mind was always active. But, soon, a stimulus of anger would come. I had an escape mechanism for this anger. Then, the anger would come, I would repress it and, apparently, I was less angry. But it was just a mistake, because the anger was present. And I repressed it and didn't observe it, didn't see it, but ran away from it, “dividing” myself from the experience. So, Master, can you talk a little bit?

MG: That's the problem! See, you have now touched on a point. We are religiously, spiritually, philosophically, and psychologically trained for repression. They do not give us the vision of the Liberation of the “I,” of the ego, of this model of fear, anger, anxiety, envy, and jealousy. The training we receive is to repress, to suppress, to disguise. So, in fact, we still have, Gilson, a model of egoic identity cultivated with this veneer of spirituality, religiosity, philosophical principles, and psychological discipline. This “I,” this ego, is not being observed… If there is no work in oneself of Attention on this very movement of the “I,” there is not the slightest chance of discovering the Truth of this Real Being beyond the ego, beyond the “ I,” which True Meditation reveals. This is what needs to be seen! This is what has to be understood! There is no Truth in illusion, and life in the egoic mind is a life within illusion.

Here, it is about becoming aware of this “I,” which is the element that cultivates principles of self-discipline, of order, for several reasons. So, we have learned, over the years, not to express, not to manifest, not to demonstrate this side of us, which continues to be present, just being repressed. Here, it’s about becoming aware of this side of us, this movement within us. The same movement is what we have been saying here, which was present and still remains present in our parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, in everyone who came before us, which is this unconsciousness, which is this pattern of psychological conditioning of this ego. Becoming aware of this is the approach to the Truth, the Revelation of the Truth. This is the end of illusion, this is the end for the “I,” and, naturally, this is the end for this psychological condition of anger, of fear, and suffering, because there is, in this instant, awareness of the Revelation of the Truth of our own Being, of Divine Truth.

GC: Master, about this Divine Truth – and the Master explains that exactly for us to have this approach to this “I,” this illusory “I,” this mental activity… and there is a lot, within spirituality, this search to find this “Higher Self,” to get closer to this “True Self,” to feed this “I Am.”

MG: In general, we theorize a lot about this. Here, we place the Truth of this Divine Reality that we bring, yes, beyond the “I,” beyond the ego, but the difficulty is present when we begin to imagine what This represents. It ends up that we create theories about It, concepts about It, beliefs about It, and then we start making statements, saying things about which we don't know what we're saying, but which we believe so. So, talking about this Being, about this “I Am,” just talking, saying, theorizing about It, doesn't solve it. We need to become aware of what is here. So, the true approach to God is not the approach to an idea about God, about who He is and where He is. The true approach to God is in the awareness of this illusion, which is the illusion of the “I.”

To become aware of this illusion is to put an end to this illusion. That’s when this Real Revelation, which is the Revelation of God, shows itself. So, becoming aware of the illusion of this “I,” this problematic, complicated identity, this separatist false identity in us, egocentric, becoming aware of it, investigating it, looking at it, letting it go, is discovering the Reality of That which is beyond this “I.”

So, people use expressions like “the ‘I Am’,” the internal Christ within us,” but this is theoretical, this is verbal, these are just words. We need to become aware of who we are right now. If it's anger, it's anger; if it is fear, it is fear; anxiety, anguish, sadness… What is present here and now? Looking at this, becoming aware of it, disidentifying with it, getting out of this duality, this separateness, which is this concept of this “I” and this thing in separation, letting go of this duality is what is necessary. When this occurs, the Reality that is already present shows itself, but This is not something that thought can reach. Therefore, we abandon imaginations, abandon theories, abandon these verbal statements.

GC: Master, our time has come to end. Thank you for this videocast. And you who are watching the video, leave a “like,” leave a comment, put your questions in the comment so that we can bring them to the next videocasts. And, mainly: here in the first pinned comment, there will be the link to the information group about the meetings, both online and in person, with Master Gualberto, which are the meetings called Satsangs, where the Master leads us, in this sharing of Consciousness, to a deep investigation into all this madness of being someone, about all this insane movement of thought, of which we are not aware of on a daily basis, but, in Satsang, this is revealed by Grace, by this sharing of Consciousness of the Master. So, here's the invitation. And gratitude, Master, for this meeting.

Introspection, self-analysis, self-discipline | The Truth of Mindfulness | Spiritual Awakening

There is something quite interesting about human relationships, in our relationships with each other. It seems to me that one of the most difficult things in these relationships is communion. Communion requires the presence of free communication; We don't have that freedom to communicate. It seems that we don't reach each other when we talk, when we dialogue, when we get closer to each other. Why does this occur? Why does this happen?

Although we are using words that we all understand, it seems that we do understand the verbal meaning of the word, but we hear those words through an idea, a set of beliefs, opinions, and conclusions. So, we are always behind this curtain of ideas. When this happens – and it often does – there is no communication. The absence of this communication is, of course, the absence of communion. So, notice how important it is here, for each of us, to have a new approach to these meetings as well.

Here on the channel, we are using words that are well known to all of us and, however, what I have noticed is that people cannot understand these words, because they listen through this curtain of ideas that they have. So, here, we use expressions such as: “the Awakening of Consciousness,” “Spiritual Awakening,” “the Realization of God” – these words and several others that we use here within the channel, as well as within these online meetings that we have on the weekend. The difficulty we have here is to follow this speech so that the truth of communication takes place within this meeting and communion becomes possible.

If there is Real communion between us – observe this, it is very interesting –, when there is Truth of communion, from the heart, even words are dispensable. Notice what an interesting thing: if there is really a communion, and this communion is happening on a level beyond intellect, naturally, it dispenses with words, it dispenses with language. So, true communication occurs when there is communion.

In life, we need communion; communion within communication, communion in the relationship with the other within a certain activity, communion in contact with feeling, with the movement of action also happening, with this speaking. This meeting of communion is essential. We, as human beings, need to discover Life. Life is verified when there is this discovery. In this realization there is a level of immersion in life, of immersion in existence, where all sense of separation between this “I” and life itself falls apart, disappears, is not present.

So, if we are here working on this issue of seeking the truth about who we are, this is what becomes possible when we come closer to an understanding based on this communion. We need to have communion with what is happening here and now. Speech is something that requires communion, feeling is something that requires communion. The action happening occurs in a complete, unique, Real way – I have called it the Truth of the action, Real action – when there is communion.

We are, internally, in contradiction. We live, internally, in conflict within ourselves. We need to study this, understand this, and this becomes possible when we have an approach to ourselves, of what is happening inside each of us. Having an approach like this requires that you learn to look, that you learn to listen, that you learn to perceive yourself; looking, listening to yourself, something that becomes impossible when thought is present, when this curtain of ideas is present.

So, notice the curious thing about how we work: we have a lack of communication because we interpret words according to our beliefs, opinions, ideas, and personal conclusions when we are in a dialogue or when we are listening; At this moment, we have difficulty following a speech like this, just as we have difficulty looking at ourselves, because we look through concepts, opinions, judgments, and beliefs.

I want to touch here with you on the importance of listening to ourselves, of learning to have this communion; a communion that becomes possible when you learn to listen, to look, and to perceive what is happening inside you, without this curtain of ideas, without these conclusions, without these beliefs, without these punishments, without this self-judgment, without this self-evaluation, without this self-criticism. Notice that this is how, most of the time, we look at ourselves. When we do this, there is a separation.

Understanding the truth about yourself is something that requires a look without judgment, without evaluation, without comparison, without criticism, without fear. That’s when there is the presence of a Real communion, and this becomes possible now, here if we leave aside our beliefs, our conclusions, our ideas, if we leave aside the meaning we have given to this or that word based on our prejudices, on our preconceived concepts. So, our meeting here has the purpose of this self-discovery.

Thus, our emphasis here, within this speech, will be on this issue of Attention, the Truth of Mindfulness. Only when there is this Full Attention, the Truth of this Mindfulness over each and every movement within each one of us, only when there is this Attention, does it become possible to approach the revelation of what is happening within each one of us.

If we look through this curtain of ideas, we will be doing what a good number of people do in an attempt to self-improvement, to change themselves through effort, self-discipline, this so-called “introspection.” Notice what we are saying, follow it carefully.

Introspection is a way of looking inside yourself through this curtain of ideas. People want to get rid of what they don't like to see in themselves. So, they practice, through self-discipline, through effort, this introspection. So, this attempt at change, transformation, based on effort, on discipline, which has as its principle an analysis of oneself, a look at oneself based on ideas, this can create a change, yes, this can improve the person, but the improved person, this improvement is still the improvement of the sense of a present “I,” of a present egoic identity.

Here in these meetings, we are proposing to you a life free of this “I,” this ego, something that becomes possible when there is this entire Truth revealing itself due to this communion, and this communion does not come through introspection. This communion arises in a very natural way when we are paying attention to ourselves, when we are becoming aware of all this internal movement of thought and feeling.

These thoughts, these feelings are those in us that drive us to actions. Our relationships are based on these thoughts and feelings. These relationships are actions that occur with these feelings and thoughts as their principle. Becoming aware of this internal movement, this awareness, to simply become aware of this movement, which is the movement of the “I,” of this person, this identity that separates itself from the other in order to relate, becoming aware of this movement requires this approach of communion, requires this Attention on oneself.

Therefore, our approach here is to show you the importance of this contact with yourself, this contact with what is happening inside you, a contact that is possible when there is this Attention. It's not about doing something with what you perceive, with these feelings, thoughts, and with this model of behavior. Here it’s just a matter of being aware of it. The awareness of this, the consciousness of this breaks this pattern of existence of the “I,” this pattern of egoic existence, because at that moment this communion occurs: Real communion with the other, Real communion with Life, Real communion in oneself. Then, contradiction disappears, conflict disappears, fear disappears, suffering disappears.

Realize the beauty of what we are putting here for you. Note, for example, that your contact with others is contact through a curtain of beliefs, ideas, conclusions, images that you have about him or her. So, notice: there is no truth of communion in this contact, because what is present is this element, which is the “I,” the ego, this “me.”

So, there is this internal state of contradiction in this encounter with the other when we are within this principle of separation, of duality, so there is “you” and “I.” This “you” is an image I have about who you are, in addition to an image I have about who “I” am, and this is contradiction, this is conflict, this will, naturally, produce some level of conflict in this relationship, some level of problem, some level of fear, of violence, of desire, of suffering.

When we pay attention to this movement, which is the movement of the “I,” this communion with the Truth of what is shown here, in this moment, breaks this pattern, this model of egoic identity. That is the end of this image, conclusions, beliefs, and opinions about the other. This is the end of this self-image in contradiction, in conflict, full of desires and fears within this “me.”

Realize that this is something that becomes possible when we pay this attention, this look at this internal movement. Just the look shows us this, completely revealing itself, and when all that reveals itself, in this very revelation, it falls apart. We don't have to do something with what is being seen, we don't have to change what is being seen, we don't have to coordinate what is being seen or perceived.

This very look, this very observation without choice, without this element, which is the “I,” the ego, without this curtain of conclusions of what is right or wrong, becoming aware of this at that moment is the end for this, it is the end to this condition, which is the condition of the “I,” of the ego, because in that moment this listening to ourselves is present, this perceiving ourselves, this being aware of this “me.” The awareness of this is the end to this automatic, unconscious, repetitive condition, to this movement that, in reality, is a movement that already comes from the past, that already comes from these beliefs, conclusions. Do you understand this? Having an approach to yourself in this way is not introspection, it is not self-analysis, it is not self-discipline, it is Attention.

The awareness of Attention on the entire movement of the “I,” the “me,” the ego, the awareness of this curtain of ideas, these beliefs and conclusions, becoming aware of this right now is the end for all of this. So, this is the way for the Real approach to True Meditation, Real Meditation. Naturally, this True Meditation is Self-awareness.

Therefore, our meeting here aims to bring this approach; this approach puts you in this new vision of Life, in this new vision of Being, in this new vision of the world, of the other, in a Real vision of the Truth of this Being that we are. So, the Truth of Attention about this movement of the “I” is the end for this movement; this is Self-Awareness, this is the Truth of Real Meditation – understanding that here Meditation and Self-awareness are words with a very peculiar meaning, ok?

This is our purpose here within this channel. We have online meetings on weekends. To participate in these meetings, you can join our Whatsapp group in the video description. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and also retreats. So, if this is something that makes sense to you, go ahead and leave your “like” and subscribe to the channel, ok? And let's work on this together. Alright? Thanks for the meeting and see you soon!
