Here I want to draw your attention to our work of investigation, here, into a few subjects. There are some questions that are truly challenging for each of us, and that need to be investigated. One of them is: How to find God? The other refers to the issue of what some call mindfulness or full attention.
So, here we have the matter of mindfulness, of this full attention and meditation. The relation between mindfulness and meditation. So, we're going to start with a fundamental point. I don't know if you've ever heard of a lock pick-yes, a lock pick. The lock pick is more popularly known as a master key.
What is a master key? It's the key that gives you the ability to open several different locks with a single key. So, you're faced with a system with several different locks, but there is a single key: the lock pick-or the master key. Therefore, it's something that authorizes you to open these locks. If it doesn't actually authorize you, at least it enables you, as in the case of the famous lock pick.
Thus, a criminal uses the lock pick to open different locks. If you have a lock pick, you can open different locks or padlocks. Here we are together revealing to you, working with you on this revelation, the revelation of the vision of self-awareness. This is the master key.
When we have comprehension, vision, and clarity about who we are, we realize that the various problems present in human life are there because of ignorance. It is ignorance that keeps us trapped within problems, problems that have no solution without first having a key for that lock.
The problems facing human beings are countless. However, they are countless because of the presence of a basic problem. The basic problem of human beings is the problem of the "I"; it is the element within us that maintains the continuity of these closed locks, these closed padlocks.
Thus, suffering for human beings in its various forms... There are countless forms or presentations of internal states of distress, disorder, and suffering in each of us, and this is something present because we do not know the truth about ourselves. Knowing the truth about us means having a clear vision of our relations.
Relations in life, for each of us, occur on different levels. We have our relation with the world, with the world of ideas, which are opinions, beliefs, concepts, ideologies. We have the world of people, and so are our relations with people. There is the world of objects; in particular, the objects we own or that are with us. We have the world of feelings, of emotions.
Therefore, our relations with these worlds are diverse, and we lack the key that brings us comprehension of how to deal with the world, how to also deal with ourselves. Thus, experiences, whether external or internal, without a vision of the truth about who we are or what we are in this context, keep us in ignorance and, therefore, in suffering.
And what is the element that allows us to comprehend ourselves in these different relations that we have? The present element is the presence of perception. It's not the presence of specialization, it's the presence of perception. If you know your profession, what you do professionally, very well, you have a specialty. We acquire specialty in what we do when we have extensive knowledge and extensive or profound experience in that area.
Here, the awareness of comprehension of the truth about ourselves requires the presence of perception. Therefore, what is this perception? It's what we need to investigate here, it's what we need to comprehend here, because it is perception that gives us the key to comprehend ourselves. This comprehension of the truth about who we are, about what I am, in this context, is the key to Life, to comprehend Life, to seeing Truth.
When you ask "How to have an encounter with God," "How to find God," comprehend something here: Divine Reality is present. It is not something that will appear, it is not something that will be found, it is here and now. It will not be found because it is not in the future, it will not be found because it is not "there," somewhere else; and it will not appear because it is not hidden.
We are dealing with a Truth, with a Reality, as I just said, that is not hidden; it is something present. However, it is not reached, seen, or visualized by the model of this consciousness present within us, which is the consciousness of "I," which is the consciousness of the ego, where the mind as we know it is present.
Thus, what enables us to have a vision of That which is indescribable, That which is unnameable, beyond thought, is the comprehension of the truth of who we are. As we approach this learning of Self-awareness, the truth of the revelation of who we are takes place when there is a discarding or disappearance of this psychological condition of egoic consciousness, of consciousness of the "I."
Therefore, we need to discover what it means to perceive, what it is the perception of Reality, of life as it is happening; what it is this perception that allows us to comprehend the world, the world of our relations. Perception is the presence of a gaze on this moment without the past, which requires the presence of this Attention. This is where Mindfulness and Meditation become important.
The presence of Attention on our reactions, the awareness of the presence of thought, the comprehension of the presence of thought, of opinion, of judgment, of evaluation, of comparison, of the way we look at others, at situations, at what happens within us and also outside. Bringing Attention to this moment, Mindfulness, is being in direct contact with Meditation.
So, what is Meditation? Meditation, what is it? It is the awareness of the present moment revealing itself without the past. Therefore, Meditation is not something you practice, something you specialize in. Meditation requires the presence of a gaze on this moment, a gaze without the past. It is not a specialization, because it is something that is already present. You will not learn Meditation like you learn math, or chemistry, or physics, or any other activity that requires specialization, that requires knowledge and experience.
Meditation is something that is present here, revealing itself, moment by moment, when we bring attention to these reactions that arise, to thoughts, to feelings, to emotions. The way you deal with the present moment requires the presence of this perception. It's simply perceiving, not interacting mentally or psychologically with perception.
We don't know the art of Meditation because we are constantly trapped in the model of interfering with the present moment; we interfere from the past, from this "I," this ego. The element present here that interferes with life as it unfolds is the presence of this ego-identity. The thinker in you, the experiencer in you, the observer in you is the present element that judges, compares, and evaluates. So, we lack the presence of perception.
Perception is looking at the present moment in this Attention, in this Mindfulness. Then a space opens up. This space is the presence of Meditation. This is how we approach Self-awareness, this is how we approach this key. Life is Real. It is Real when this psychological and internal posture of the "I" is no longer present. Then, yes, in this moment, there is a Revelation.
It is the Reality of God that reveals itself, not you having an encounter with God. Therefore, the idea of ??someone having this encounter is an illusion. The nature of your Being, the nature of the Truth about you, is Divine Reality, which I repeat: it is not hidden; it is the Presence that is indescribable, unnameable, but That is not hidden. It just cannot be accessed from the known, from thought. Thus, we are faced with the Unknown.
The Reality of God is the reality of the Unknown, the Indescribable, the Unnameable. The nature of your Being, the Truth about You, is this Mystery, the encounter with Spiritual Enlightenment or the Awakening of Consciousness. There are many names for You in your Natural State of Being, and here we are faced with Life being life itself. This is what we are doing here with you, delving deeper into, working on.
We have online meetings on weekends; we have two days together: Saturday and Sunday. I want to extend this invitation to you.
