What is Liberation?

Some people are looking for experiences in order to describe them afterwards. And yet all they are finding are experiences within the mind. Is it not like this? In whatever experience you may have, you will still be there to report what has happened.

People think they are so evolved, rather special, because they can get experiences and talk about them later. But, these experiences are still part of the known, within time and space, still part of the mind. Then, the "I" appropriates these experiences and describes a state. Truth, Consciousness, Liberation is not a state.

In general, people do not like to hear this. You can acquire a differentiated, a sublime state through meditation practices, prolonged fasts or long hours of chanting mantras. This can generate some internal change, can bring about spiritual well-being. Then, the mind may quiet down, there may be certain silence, or even an inner exalted state, some call this "altered state of consciousness," but everything that can be altered is within the field of mind. Consciousness knows no state; It does not change.

So, you experience this altered state, but after that, you are back as the same person again. No matter how refined, how deep, how extraordinary the experience is, you cannot stay in it forever. Why not? Because it is not natural! It comes through a work, provocation, intensification, and that diminishes when this work, this intensification, and this provocation subside.

I am saying this because people write to me asking if they are evolving or if what they have experienced directly was Enlightenment, which went away afterwards. They want my confirmation! So, they talk about kundalini going up and down, etc. The mind has created this kind of thing.

Liberation is not something for the person. There is nothing "you" can do or achieve through some psychological, emotional or spiritual experience, no matter how exhilarating this experience is. A spiritual, psychological or emotional experience is only a personal experience; it is where the "person" appears, that is, where the illusion appears, because there are no "people." Therefore, these experiences are also part of this illusion.

This Liberation does not require "you." This is the absence of the illusion of "you" with all that "you" represent: effort, experiences, sensations, visions, intuitions, and so on. People go through this and soon "get enlightened," and then they begin to tell others how easy "enlightenment" is.

Liberation is simply the end of the illusion of someone present here and now. There is nothing like lights, rays, thunder, lightings, sounds from another world, ringing of bells, angels with powers or singing with their harps. There is no location for this Consciousness; It is not "there" after "eight steps."

There is only Liberation! It is the Liberation of the sense of "I," here and now! There are no trumpets resonating, no excitement. This Liberation is the perfect Freedom from all the burden, from all fear, desire, choice ... it is this wonderful freedom to realize there is no choice, because there is no person, there is no separation, there is nothing out of place, nothing to happen

I laugh at that, because it is really very funny the expectation the mind has about future: a great episode, a great event, in which mind itself will end up very rich, powerful, strong, and big! There is none of this!

Liberation is you in your Natural State free from the sense of history that surrounds you, from what reinforces this false "me" and what it values as something real: properties, family, achievements, prestige, fame, power, and, finally, this enlightened, strong, great, powerful and special "I." In this Liberation, it is clear that everything is simple and natural. An apparent story goes on, but it is not real. It's a story for someone who wants to tell it, but you have no more interest. For you, it's just an apparent story, but for that one who thinks he/she is there, it's a very real story.
