GC: Hello everyone! We're here for another videocast, and Master Gualberto is with us again. Thank you, Master, for being here. Today I'm going to read an excerpt from a book by Joel Goldsmith called "Realization of Oneness." In one passage of this book, Master, Joel makes the following comment: "The error is not in the external, the power is not in the external. All power is in the still and smal voice." In this passage, Joel comments on this inner Power, on this Divine Power. Within this topic, Master, could you share your vision on what Real Consciousness is?
MG: Gilson, why do we use expressions like "Real Consciousness" here and differentiate this Real Consciousness from what we understand by "consciousness"? First of all, let's comprehend what we mean by "consciousness." What you understand by "consciousness" is the presence of this mind: the conscious and unconscious mind. We have an internal movement occurring in each of us-it's the movement of feelings, emotions, and thoughts. This movement is what we understand by "mind." Thus, this mind carries hidden memories and more recent memories, and these more recent memories are operating at a level that we call "conscious." So, we divide the mind into conscious and unconscious, into consciousness and unconsciousness.
Therefore, what we comprehend as "consciousness" is this movement of the mind, but all this movement-??observe that in yourself-is a movement that proceeds from a response pattern that, actually, we call "conscious" but is pure unconsciousness. Note that when you have thoughts, the idea of ??someone present having thoughts is a classic sign that you are unaware that this person does not exist; what is present is only thought, because there is no separation between thought and the thinker. This idea of ??someone having thoughts is part of this unconsciousness, because what is present is only a movement of thoughts. Your responses are responses of thought.
If, for example, I ask you something, your answer arises from thought. It's not from someone having a thought, but from thought itself, which is memory, remembrance, recollection. This "someone" doesn't exist, but the common belief is that someone exists, someone conscious of the answer. This "someone" is the thinker. Examine this calmly, here. When you give me an answer and I ask you, "Who answered me?", you say, "I did!" But what is this "I"? Isn't it also thought? Isn't it an element present that is sustaining itself on an image that thought is establishing about who you are? Therefore, this is still thought. The "I" that you say you are is just an image-this image is part of thought. Thus, there is no separation between this image, this "I," and thought.
All of this happens within you unconsciously. Therefore, what we call "consciousness," which implies the presence of this conscious and unconscious mind, is the presence of unconsciousness. It is the presence of this unconsciousness that we call "personal consciousness," that which we call "my consciousness." What is the Truth about you? Here we have the Truth about the "I," about the person, about this "me." Yes, this is seen as the Truth about you, but will there be a Reality about you, beyond this image, beyond this "I," beyond this personal consciousness? Here we are presenting it to you: The answer is yes, there is a Reality present, the Reality about you, beyond this "you" that thought has established, beyond this idea, this image, beyond this person. This is Divine Reality!
So, what is this Real Consciousness? It is That which is present here beyond the known, beyond this consciousness, beyond this model of thought, which is the person. The Realization of Truth or the Awakening of Consciousness, of this Real Consciousness, or Enlightenment, or Vision of God-or whatever name you want for it-consists in this awareness of That which is present here, which is not within this context of the "I," this model of the known, this pattern of personal consciousness. The encounter with this Reality consists in the acknowledgement of the Reality present beyond thought, beyond that which this consciousness limited by thought knows and recognizes.
The good news is that you were born for this awareness, for the awareness of life. The Reality of God is the Freedom of Being-that is Meditation. This is the result of a deep comprehension of ourselves, of a direct and true comprehension of the Truth about this "me," about this person! That is what we are working on. The various videos we have here on the channel-actually hundreds-all of them address the importance of this vision, this perception, this comprehension, this quality of listening, the Truth of this gaze-something entirely different from what we know, because we are dealing with the awareness of life as it is at this moment.
A new brain, a new mind, a new heart, a perception of the reality of the moment without the past: It requires the presence of that Divine Intelligence, of God's Wisdom, of the Truth of the Revelation of That which is real here without this mind, without this "consciousness," without this pattern, without this old model of feeling, acting, thinking, and responding. This old model has its structure in this consciousness of the "I," which is the ordinary consciousness.
Looking at this life, embracing the reality of this moment without the idea of ??someone in this gaze, is to become aware that there is no separation. There is no "one" observing life; this gaze is the gaze of life in the own life. When the illusion of duality, of separation between this "I" and the "non-I"-this "I" that observes what is being observed-when this is eliminated, something is revealed. This Something is nameless, indescribable; it is Divine Truth, Supreme Bliss, and True Happiness. Looking at what is here, without "someone" in this gaze, is our proposal to you. Your contact with the other, your contact with him or her, your contact with life, your contact with situations, without "someone," without the "me," without the "I," is the Awakening of this Real Consciousness, the blossoming of this Natural State of Being. Okay?
GC: Master, we have a question from a subscriber here on the channel, who wrote the following comment: "I have a very strong self-victimization pattern. How can I change that?"
MG: Gilson, the old idea of ??changing patterns from a base is a mistake, it's an illusion! It's about investigating the base, investigating the pattern. The very basis for this change is still part of that pattern. When we want to get out of envy, jealousy, fear, anger, the idea of ??getting out is the base, but it's a base that is separate from the jealousy, envy, or fear itself-or, in this case, from self-victimization. We don't realize that this basis for getting out of this condition is part of the condition.
To put it another way: We always have ideals; they are ideas about what to do, about how to get rid of things. Therefore, this resistance or this basis is still part of this condition. We are constantly in the ideal of "becoming," of "achieving," in the ideal of "getting rid." Therefore, when envy is present, fear is present, anger is present, suffering is present, we add an idea of ??how to get rid of it, of how to get rid of this given thing. This ideal is "coming to be," "achieving," "becoming."
Thus, we are always projecting the future from the condition in which we find ourselves at this moment. This projection is a projection of thought. We are dealing with the idea of ??the future as if we were dealing with a real purpose, while in fact we are only dealing with an imagination of the very condition in which we find ourselves. When you separate yourself from fear, it reinforces fear, it sustains fear. Any resistance to fear is the continuation of fear, it is the strengthening of the condition of fear. The purpose of getting rid of, of defending oneself, of resisting or fighting is born from fear, just as, in this self-victimization which you want to get rid of, the idea of ??someone to get rid of is the illusion of someone who separates oneself from the state of self-victimization and has a plan of how to defend itself, how to protect itself, how to achieve victory over self-victimization.
Note that here we are dealing with only one single movement, which is the movement of thought. Thought creates the thinker to have thoughts about that. In this state of self-victimization, thought creates this "victimized" one, to protect oneself, to defend oneself, to free oneself. Here the question is: How can we approach this state without the idea of ??this "I," without the idea of ??"freeing oneself," of "resisting"? The answer is basic: There is only one real approach to this state when it becomes clear that there is no such thing as "someone" to protect oneself, to defend oneself.
The presence of the state is the only reality here, at this moment. In this victimhood, there is no one who is victimized to escape victimhood. In this victimhood, there is no thought that does not originate from the very state of self-victimization. If it becomes clear, we have here the true way to approach the state. And when it becomes clear, no movement can be made, no movement becomes necessary, because there is no such thing as a victimized person separate from victimhood, and there is no such thing as an idea separate from that victimized one.
Observe this, abandon any idea of ??"someone" to get rid of. Allow this state to be seen, clarified, comprehended without the idea, without the "I." If it becomes clear, it dissolves. The continuation of fear requires "someone," the continuation of victimhood requires "someone," the continuation of anger requires someone reinforcing ideas, drawing conclusions, trying to get rid of or justify the state.
What we are presenting to you here is that there is no such thing as this state separate from this one-it is one single phenomenon, one single event. Can we have life, here and now, free from this entire model of psychic, psychological suffering? The answer becomes clear when it becomes clear that there is no such thing as this "I" that separates oneself from the state. When we don't have this "I" separating oneself from the state to defend oneself, to free oneself, to escape, this state vanishes.
The Reality of Being does not entail this psychological movement of continuity, of affirmation of the "I." Your Natural State of Being does not carry this "I" and the "non-I," this victim and victimhood, this victimized and this state of victimhood, it does not carry this model of getting rid of or achieving. The Reality present here is Being. It is not something in time, it is not something born from the past, it is not something projected into the future to achieve or get rid of. It is something entirely new, different, and unknown.
What brings you closer to this Revelation is this gaze, this listening, this perceiving what is present here, without separation. The presence of this comprehension is what we have called Self-awareness. Knowing your reactions is knowing your fears, desires, conflicts, your internal states of self-victimization, anger, or any other psychological state of suffering for this "I." Becoming aware of this is the end for this condition, it is the end for this situation. Then, Something beyond words is revealed, which is you in your Natural State of Being. Okay?
GC: Master, we have another question from another subscriber here on the channel, who wrote the following comment: "Master, can words and theories function as bridges to That which is unnamable?"
MG: Gilson, no word, no theorizing, no concept, no idea can bring you closer to Reality! Reality is beyond words, concepts, ideas, and theories. Reality is what is present here beyond thought; therefore, any form of approach at this level-at the level of thought-is still at the level of a conditioned intellect. The conditioning present in us is memory, remembrance, our recollections. All types of knowledge, which is thought, are conditioned.
So, we have a conditioned brain, a conditioned mind, a conditioned intellect, and this is, actually, the great impediment. To move from the mind to the Heart, to move from this theorizing to the direct experience of living life as it is, as it happens, it requires this sensitivity, this profound vulnerability to Life. Then, yes, it brings you closer to a real contact with what is present here. We constantly flee from this contact because, in fact, it is painful. To become aware of your reactions, to become aware of how the mind, in its ambition, envy, fear, jealousy, desires, the mind in its afflictions, is acting-this is painful. But it is the contact with that, when we do not separate ourselves, because of this vulnerability and sensitivity, at that moment we can go beyond the "I," beyond the ego, beyond this psychological condition, to Something unknown, unnameable.
Therefore, the basis for this experience of the Reality of what you call the "unnamable," as we have put it, is to go beyond what is known, and it requires contact with the Truth about this "me," about this "I." Therefore, it is the presence of Self-awareness, the real contact with Meditation, that liberates us from this illusion of someone present; of someone present who suffers, of someone present in ambition, in fear, in jealousy, and in all these diverse states, in this psychological model of conditioning that we carry. But there is no way to go beyond this "I" without full awareness of how we are functioning, of how this ego-identity is sustaining itself in this old pattern, in this old model of social conditioning, of cultural conditioning.
Thus, when people try to practice meditation to escape these states, they haven't comprehended that the awareness of Self-knowledge is the revelation of these states. So, yes, when there is an awareness of this revelation, this illusion of someone separating oneself from these states vanishes, and naturally, the states themselves also disappear. Then, That which is indescribable, which is beyond words, which is the Truth of this Being, reveals itself. Therefore, there is no way to skip steps here; this comprehension is fundamental, the vision of the Truth about oneself is essential. Without it, there is no real Meditation, without it, this encounter with Divine Reality is impossible. There is no real separation between the Reality of this Being and the Truth of God. However, this contact only reveals itself when illusion ends.
Therefore, we need to investigate the nature of this "I," this "me," of all this psychological movement of "becoming," of "trying to get rid"-something so present in the "I," in the ego. Thus, the basis for Love, Truth, for Wisdom, requires the presence of Self-awareness. It is the presence of this studying, this comprehension, in this vulnerability, in this sensitivity, that brings you closer to that Natural State of Meditation, where Supreme Happiness, Supreme Freedom, the Truth of God, That which is nameless, indescribable, is revealed. Okay?
GC: Thank you, Master, our time is up. Thank you for this videocast. And for those of you who are watching the videocast to the end and truly wish to experience these Truths, you are invited to participate in the intensive weekend meetings that Master Gualberto offers. These meetings are available online, in person, and also as multi-day retreats. These meetings are much deeper and more transformative than these videos here on YouTube. First, because the Master answers our questions live, directly; and second, and much more impactful, because the Master already lives in this Awakened State of Consciousness, He shares a field of Presence around Him-a field of Energy, Power, and Grace. And, in these meetings, we end up "taking a ride" in the Master's field of Presence. And, by doing it, spontaneously, without any effort, without any technique, we enter a Meditative State, silence our minds, and can have a real vision and comprehension of the subjects discussed here. So, here's the invitation: In the first pinned comment, you'll find the WhatsApp link to participate in these meetings. Also, please "like" the video and subscribe to the channel. And, Master, once again, thank you for the videocast.
