The human being carries a search, a quest for connection, for internal psychological connection with other people; people who can represent to them something of profound meaning, something that represents a profound, meaningful fulfillment. This search, every search of the human being toward this connection may seem very reasonable to us; however, we need to investigate here what is in fact happening.
Because when do we feel this pain, the pain of loneliness? The question is: How to deal with loneliness? How to deal with the pain of loneliness? Why do we have this pain present? When we look closely, investigate, we discover that this search or quest of the human being is something that, in reality, is present precisely because of one's state of isolationism, of a profound disconnection from the very Reality of Life.
We were educated, conditioned, programmed, formed from a young age for a psychological vision of the world where the basic belief is of the existence of the 'I,' of this 'person,' an image that thought constructed about who we are. This person, this self-image was educated to seek one's continuity in relationships, to find, in relationships, completeness, fulfillment. Therefore, the search of the human being is the search for a psychological fulfillment for the person, for the self-image; this is the presence of the 'I,' it is the presence of the ego, which is in pain.
The ego lives in an internal condition of isolationism, of separation, in the belief of the need for the other, but the other does not exist for it; what exists, for it, is the completeness of its continuity in the encounter with the other. Notice, we are before something here that needs to be investigated, or we will never know the truth about the pain of loneliness, of this existential void, because we will be maintaining the continuity of this self-image, of this solicitation of the ego, of this 'I.'
Dissatisfaction, incompleteness, the suffering of disconnection is not, in reality, with the other; it is the presence of a projection of thought, of an imagination of thought that the other or life is something that separates itself from this 'I.' By reason of isolationism and the sense of separation, we have the presence of pain and that nothing fills. So much so that the one who feels the pain of loneliness may be surrounded by many people; people may be giving everything to him or her, and yet, there it is the pain.
The problem does not reside on the outside; it is not resolved on the outside. It is not what is external that is the cause of the problem; it is not what is there, on the outside, that is the solution to the problem. Thus, people cannot resolve the pain of loneliness of someone; it is the presence of someone that is the presence of pain. The comprehension of the truth about who we are is something that requires the presence of a new learning in life.
In life, we learn everything. You learned to walk, to eat by yourself, you learned to speak, you learned to read, to write. You learned a profession; now you know something, a technical specialty, which you also learned. Everything in life we learn: to get dressed, to brush our teeth, everything, absolutely everything. Life consists in having relations with people, places, objects, situations, events, which requires the presence of learning to deal with all of this. And here we also need a new learning.
The point is that most of us spend an entire life without this learning of which we are speaking, which is learning about Self-Awareness. Unless you have a comprehension, an awakening to learning about oneself, you will continue, in life, within an illusory position, the position of an identity that sees itself present in the experience of life as it happens, being the experiencer of the experience. When you have thoughts, you do not know how they happen, because you have not learned what thoughts are.
We are dealing with the Totality of Life, and not with a part or a fragment of it. Knowing rules of table etiquette, or knowing a profession, or knowing how to write, or speaking another language is part of life; it is a fragment of knowledge that is made necessary in life for practical matters in life. But we have the Totality of Life, and as part of the Totality of Life we also need to learn what thought is, what feelings are, what emotion is, sensation, perception, the truth about who 'I am.' Yes, the truth about who 'I am.'
I do not have the truth about myself. This 'me' is something that thought established as an idea. An idea is, in reality, a set or several sets of thoughts, which, by the way, I have no comprehension whatsoever about. A set of remembrances, of memories is the presence in me of thought, which gives the constitution, which established this 'me'; only an image that thought constructed about what I am. Yes, the great truth is that we know nothing about who we are, and how we feel, and how we think, and how we act.
So, the comprehension of life requires a vision of totality, which requires the presence of Self-Awareness, of the comprehension of ourselves. It is fundamental, it is essential in life the comprehension of that which it represents, which requires a vision of the truth about who I am, about who the other is, about what life is. Therefore, we need this learning about ourselves. Learning about Self-Awareness brings you closer to Life, to the Awareness of Life. The Awareness of Life is the awareness of the Mystery, of That Which is unknown. The Awareness of Life reveals itself when there is Meditation.
Therefore, Meditation, what is it? We need to learn about Meditation. Self-Awareness, what is the truth about this 'me'? We need to learn about Self-Awareness. In life, we are in contact with people. We do not only have contact with the cutlery at the table while we have lunch or dinner. We do not only have contact with the tools of our profession while we work. We are in contact with the husband, with the wife, with family, with coworkers, with the boss. We are in contact with ourselves, with the thoughts that happen here, with the feelings also, with emotions also.
After all, what does this represent? What is the truth about who I am in the context of life in its totality? We have emphasized here with you the beauty of the encounter with Life, which requires the presence of this vision about ourselves. Then, we have the end of this psychological condition of ego-identity and, therefore, of isolationism, of separation. It is the end of the pain of loneliness; it is the end of the illusion of this search for psychological connection with the other. It is the end of the illusion of the need for the psychological presence of the other for this 'me.'
Yes, life consists of relations happening; relation occurs all the time. Just as we have relations with the thoughts that occur within us, we have relations with feelings, emotions and also with people. Unless we have a complete comprehension of the process of relations and of the real place they have, we will be within psychic, psychological frames of disorder, of suffering; as an example of this thing we have anxiety, depression, anguish, the various forms of fears, anxiety in its varied forms.
So, it is not only the presence of the pain of loneliness; it is the presence of the 'I,' of the ego, which represents all these internal states of affliction, of contradiction. Thus, there are innumerable problems for the 'I,' because we do not have awareness of this art, which is the art of Meditation. Therefore, Meditation, what is Meditation? It is the awareness of Life being seen in its Totality, without the internal, psychological movement where the condition of ignorance, of illusion is present, that which thought constructed as this self-image, as this person.
Contact with Meditation is the absence of the meditator; it is the absence of self-image; therefore, it is the absence of the person. The presence of the Awareness of Meditation is the vision of Life without the past. Thus, the internal condition of psychic suffering, of psychological suffering is completely eliminated, in all its diverse expressions and forms, because the element that makes possible this condition of particular existence, of individual existence, of isolationism, is no longer present.
And how can we approach Meditation, since Meditation is the contact with Life without the mind as we know it, without this peculiar and particular form of ego-identity? The answer to the question 'What is Meditation?' consists in the comprehension of ourselves. Therefore, learning about ourselves is learning how the reactions are happening. And why the expression 'reactions'? Whatever is arising here, from the past, is not free. When you here, in this moment, are, for example, having a thought, you cannot have a thought that does not have a base or an already-known structure of memory, of remembrance.
The thought you have is the portrait of what has already happened, of what has already been. Every single thought in you is a remembrance, it is a recollection, it is a memory; it is, therefore, a reaction. When you are sad, you are not sad because now, here, you are having an action of sadness. Let us examine this thing calmly.
When you are sad, it is not because now, here, you are having immediately, firsthand, for the first time, this sadness; this sadness has its root, its foundation in thought, and thought is an element in you that comes from the past. When here, in this moment, you are sad, this sadness is the memory, it is the remembrance, it is the image that comes from the past of something that happened, or of something that in this moment represents some pain, but the foundation does not consist in the Reality of the moment; it consists in the representation of thought, in how thought deals with the present moment, and thought is the element that comes from the past.
When you are sad with someone, it is a sadness that thought brings from an image of someone. Thought brings from the past the frustration, the disappointment, the rejection. The root of pain in us is in the past; the root of this pain of loneliness, of this depression, of this anxiety, of this fear. The impression is that we are before something here, and, in truth, we are in the thought about something here. And thought is not new; thought is not the portrait of reality, of what is. Thought does not deal with what is; it deals with what should be; it deals with what could have been or with what will be.
Thought tells you: 'Why do they treat me this way?', 'Why did they do this to me?', 'When will this change?' Notice, thought is always bringing the past and the future. It is the movement of thought in us that is the presence of self-image, of this 'I,' of this ego. Therefore, the root of emotional, sentimental, psychological pain, the root of suffering for the human being is the presence of the thinker, of the experiencer; it is the presence of thought; it is the presence of the ego. Contact with the Reality of Life is the awareness of Life as it happens, without the past. Therefore, when we eliminate the past, we eliminate reaction.
What is learning about ourselves? What is learning about Self-Awareness? It is learning to look without reacting. The awareness of our reactions is the awareness of thought here, of feeling here, of emotion here, which is coming from a psychological background; this background is self-image, it is the thinker, it is the experiencer-it is the element that separates itself to observe, wanting to alter, to change, to do something; it is the presence of reaction.
See that we spend our entire life without the awareness of how we function, and because we do not have this awareness, there is no comprehension. We cannot free ourselves from that which we do not comprehend; we cannot deal with that which we do not know what it is about. Thus, it is impossible to free ourselves from psychic suffering, from the psychological condition of this ego-identity, without the vision that we are dealing with a fallacy, without the vision that we are dealing with a fiction, with an imagination determined by thought, established in us for millennia.
Because, yes, we are the history of humanity. We are only twenty years old, thirty, forty, sixty; humanity has been here for millennia, but everything that is in humanity is in us; everything that our parents, psychologically, felt, lived, we are living. Can we break with this? This requires the presence of Truth. Thus the question is: How to find God? People project, also, this encounter in the future.
Here we are, with you, investigating also this question: How to find God? The Awareness of the Revelation of God is the Awareness of the Truth of this Being; it consists in the comprehension of the Totality of Life. You do not reach, you do not find, there is no such thing as the future for this encounter with God. The Awareness of God reveals itself here and now when the 'I' is not, when the ego is not, when we no longer have the illusion of this self-image. To realize in life the Awareness of your Being is to have awareness of That which is present here being the only Reality, which is the Presence of God.
Therefore, this is what we are working on here with you. We have meetings on Saturday and Sunday to investigate these questions together. You have here, in the video description, our WhatsApp link for these online meetings that we have on weekends. Besides the online meetings, we have in-person meetings and also retreats. If what you have just heard is something that makes some sense to you, then here is an invitation. Go ahead and leave your "like" here, subscribe to the channel and put a comment here: 'Yes, it makes sense.' Okay? And we will see each other. Thanks for the meeting and until next time!
