Satsang | Kundalini Awakening | What is zazen? | Zazen in practice | The Atma Vichara | Ramana Zen

The matter is the matter of zazen. Here is a clarification to you about what zazen is. The question is: what is zazen?

Zazen is a practice, a practice of Zen Buddhism, a meditation practice of Zen Buddhism. It is possible that you know something about zazen, the verbal, theoretical aspect, by reading something about this or listening to a lecture about this subject. I want to talk today about zen, especially zazen, in a close relationship with Spiritual Awakening.

So, the subject with you today is zazen, Spiritual Awakening and Kundalini Awakening.

Let´s see their relationship.

First, I want to start with a little story. The story is told of a Zen master. One night he had a dream and in that dream he was a butterfly flying, seeing the whole landscape in that flight, and his shape was the shape of a butterfly. And the story goes that when he woke up from the dream, he began to cry. The disciples approached and said, "Master, why are you crying?" The monks approached him and asked him this question, and he said, “I don't know who I am. Tonight there wasn't a man, it was a butterfly that was flying. I had no doubt about who I was. In that beautiful flight, I saw everything from that butterfly, and now I am here."

And he cried again... They said, "Master, why are you crying anyway?" He said: “Because I don't know anymore… Am I a man who dreams of being a butterfly or am I a butterfly now dreaming that I am a man?” And he touched his body and said, "After all, who am I?" This is a Zen story.

I want to show you a path to Kundalini Awakening, to Spiritual Awakening, to the Awakening of Consciousness. The direct path to This is the path of Zazen. I do not speak of the practice of zazen, the ritual, ceremonial, religious and philosophical practice of zazen, I speak of the Real sense of Zazen. The word zazen simply means “to sit down.” Just that: sit down. So, zazen means “to sit down.”

It's not sitting down and thinking, it's not sitting down and imagining, it's not sitting down and worrying, it's not sitting down and breathing in a certain special way, it's not sitting down and changing the natural movement of the breath, it's not sitting down in a silent space without any noise so as not to be internally, psychologically, disturbed… Zazen is simply to sit down.

So, let's find out today, in a direct way, here, together, what Zazen is. Here, I will refer to it in a slightly different way. I don’t want to refer to the practice of zazen. You can learn the practice of zazen. This is valuable, this is important, for sure. Of course, you will have to learn some rituals, the specific way of sitting, the position of the hands, etc. So, there's a ritual way, there's a ceremonial way, there's a technical way of doing it, but that's not what I want to talk about. I don't want to talk about the practice of zazen, I want to show you what the practical zazen is. What is Zazen in practice? Zazen in practice is to be seated without the mind, without the past, without the future.

Zazen originated in China. They called it "chan." When it came to Japan, they called it chan, which is zen… zen in Japanese. So, this school of zazen came from China to Japan and took on this name “zazen,” and it refers to this simple thing to sit down. It's just that. Zazen means “to sit down” – to sit down without the mind, to sit down and enter the Void Meditation, to enter the Void, to disappear into the Void, to be… to be the Void.

There is nothing more powerful, nothing more direct to Spiritual Awakening, to Spiritual Enlightenment, than this direct path of Zazen, which is sitting still.

Another interesting aspect of zazen is the koan aspect, which you may have heard of. The koan is a dialogue that takes place between the master and the disciple, and a question without a logical solution is presented.

Now, notice what an interesting thing we have here. Ramana Maharshi, the Sage of Arunachala, worked for over 50 years with those who came close to him as a Zen master. Nobody ever said that! Nobodyhas ever said what I'm saying: Ramana was the greatest Zen master of all time, because he gave everyone the most unique, profound, and simple of all koans. Ramana Maharshi's koan was his prescription for zazen meditation, in his format. And Ramana's koan was "Who am I?"

People came to him and started telling about their problems: “My husband left,” “My son died,” and he remained silent. And when he opened his mouth, he said: “And who are you?” And the person said something about himself, about what he himself believed to be. He would say, "No, I want to know who you are."

So Ramana would prescribe this koan: "Who am I?" So, “who am I?” is a koan! There is no logical answer to this. Each and every answer you have is not real, no answer you have is real to “who am I?” Each and every answer will always be based on thought and will not be dealing with or referring to the Truth.

So, this is within the practice of zazen. But note: Ramana had no such preoccupation, neither ceremonial, nor ritual, nor religious. He gave it to everyone! We are here also doing a work on this level. We are not prescribing ceremonies, rituals, religious practices... We are putting to you the importance of Kundalini Awakening, the Awakening of this Presence, of this Energy, capable of operating a change in the body and in the mind for the establishment of that Real Natural State of Being, which is the State of Pure Consciousness, which some call Spiritual Enlightenment, and here we are calling it Spiritual Awakening.

So, here, some subjects are being put to you, within this speech. I have just revealed to you that Ramana Maharshi was the greatest Zen master in all of history, outside of Zen Buddhism itself.

Our work together is to pay attention to What we are here and now. So I also say to you: just sit down, without the mind. Notice how simple this is, but that carries a depth of extraordinary efficiency. Just sitting down… I'm saying that Real Meditation – Real Meditation as I've always talked about in these meetings – is what happens from this koan, the koan of Ramana Maharshi: “Who am I?” So people would go to Ramana and he would say, "Who are you?" It was like he was saying: “just be still,” as he always said – “Sit down and be still, and investigate this,” just like in Zen Buddhism.

The Zen master presents a koan to the disciple, to the monk, and says “look, here is your koan, give me the answer. Sit down, just go into zazen, just sit down and give me the answer.”

Then the master gives a koan. Now I have just reported here, as well, a story that is actually a koan. The master wakes up at that moment… at that moment, he wakes up and cries. He is giving those around him a koan when he says, “Who am I? Who am I? There was an absolute certainty in being a butterfly and now there is no certainty of anything anymore! What is here: a butterfly dreaming that it is a man or is it a man here that dreams of being a butterfly? Who am I?"

Our work together, note this, is to go beyond the mind, because just beyond the mind is a non-answer, which is the real answer. So, the work of Realizing the Truth of who You are is a work that happens from a change, from a transformation in this structure that is the body and the mind; and this transformation is simple, it is natural, it does not require rituals, it does not require ceremonies, it does not require ascetic practices, it does not require anything! The only thing that is needed is to be still, to sit down and be still. To remain in your Being is to remain still. So, this attention to the movement of the mind gives you the Vision of Reality of the Void.

So, notice: it doesn't matter if it's Hinduism, if it's yoga, if it's Zen Buddhism, there's only one work going on... whether it's kundalini yoga meditation, whether it's zen meditation, the practice of zazen, or the practice of contemplative meditation of the first Christians, the Christians from the first century, from the first 3 centuries… This art of meditation was called “the art of contemplation,” the contemplative state. You look at the image of the saints and realize that their gaze is on a point outside the world. We can see this in the images even portrayed in old paintings, found… they are looking at the Void. It doesn't matter whether the body is literally sitting or standing, but there is this Void Meditation.

So, the purpose of the koan is to put you in this new psychological and physical condition of being, in the Void. This I have called Real Meditation. Unlike meditation practice, I've been calling it "Practical Meditation" and from now on, instead of zazen practice, I'm going to call it "Zazen in practice" - just sitting there, without the mind, without psychological time, without all the confusion that the mind produces.

Do you understand this?

Here I refer to Real Meditation, to Zazen in practice. By standing in that Space which is the Void, which is the Silence, which is Consciousness, You are in your Natural State of Being, and now I am going to call this Natural State of Being "the Real Zen State."

People use the expression “so and so is zen,” “he woke up so zen.” What they mean is that so-and-so is calm, he's relaxed, he's calm, he's not stressed. Is it not that? “So-and-so is so zen today,” that is, he didn't fight with anyone. He usually wakes up “not zen,” so now, today, he woke up zen.

I want to call this Natural State now – I have called it, in the last years, “the State of Pure Being, of Pure Consciousness,” that is what I have called this State –, now I will call it the Natural Zen State, the Real Zen state. And the direct path, which is the Atma Vichara prescribed by Ramana, we have just discovered that this Atma Vichara has, as a principle, a koan: “Who am I?” And we have just seen it, this Zen master seemed to have heard Ramana somehow. Ramana, if he were there, would say: “Is it a butterfly or is it a man? Who are you?" And it seems that he even heard Ramana saying this, and now he asks himself, "Who am I?" Started to cry…

This matter of crying is beautiful too. Few are crying for This, few are crying for this answer, very few are crying for This, very few are realizing they are dreaming. This master is giving us a lesson. He is suspicious of a dream. The bulk of humanity, the mass, the vast majority of people, do not realize that they are in a state of sleep and dream. That is why the expression “Spiritual Awakening,” “the Awakening of Consciousness,” “Kundalini Awakening,” all these expressions proceed, they are perfect!”

The word Buddha, you know, is "the one who has awakened. "Buddha is "awakened." Few are crying because, first, they do not suspect that they are dreaming. The human being does not realize that this is all a dream, he takes everything very seriously. Just like when you dream: you don't know you're dreaming. Not knowing that you are dreaming while dreaming is what the sages call maya.

The human being lives in a psychological condition of internal disorder, of internal confusion, of sleep, of complete hypnosis. Unaware that he is dreaming, he is not disturbed, he is not restless, he is not crying.

Those who are coming to this work, to this work of Kundalini Awakening, of Spiritual Awakening, it is because they have already realized that they do not know, they have already recognized that they really do not know, and they are asking themselves the question “after all, who am I?”

To come across What You are, here and now, is only possible when you cry, when there is pain there. I've been talking to people about the importance of Happiness, but they already say "I'm happy." I have talked to them about the importance of ending ignorance, and they say “no, I have a degree, I have a PhD in Chemistry,” “I have a PhD in Physics.” They don't understand! I'm talking about ignorance about the Truth of what they are, ignorance about them. The question is “who are you?”, “who am I?” The answer to that lies in that encounter with the Reality of your Being, your Natural Zen State, your Natural State of Consciousness, the encounter with your own Being.

There will be a time when you will feel the pain. At that moment, you will be touched by the Power of this Grace, this Divine Presence, this Divine Love, and that is when you are ready to receive a koan. So, at that moment, there will arise – in the midst of these tears, this pain – the suspicion that you are living in a state, in that state, which is a state common to all, in a state of sleep, of unconsciousness. This is the common state of humanity. Unless you wake up and leave the sleep, the dream will continue, and that dream state is the illusion state, which is the state of the sense of ego identity, which is the state of separation between you and God, between you and Real Happiness, between you and Real Peace, between you and Real Love, between you and Real Life.

So, that's our subject here… and that's all.

Satsang | What is the Kundalini | Myths, imaginations, fantasies and beliefs | Kundalini and the empowerment

All right, let's go! I’m still clarifying some questions for you! It seems that we’ll always have to work with you on this doubt and other ones. One of them is: what is it for? What does it imply…? This is what I'm going to talk about. And what is it for? The question is: what is it for, what is the usefulness of Kundalini Awakening?

First, I want you to understand why people are looking for this Awakening, what they intend by seeking this, with this search for Awakening. It’s important to understand that if you have a wrong view of what Kundalini represents, your search will also be completely erroneous, completely wrong.

First, you need to understand what Kundalini really is. I want to start talking about this before I talk to you about this matter, which is the matter of the usefulness or why you should Awaken Kundalini. You also have the common idea of powers involved in this Kundalini Awakening, but first I want, I repeat, to talk to you about what, basically, Kundalini is. Let's understand this now, within a real context, without all these myths, imaginations, fantasies and beliefs.

Kundalini is simply your Being. Your Being is sleeping. Your mental state is functioning, it is working. You live in a purely mental state of consciousness.

There’s no Consciousness in that mental state, or that consciousness is just mental consciousness. That means your Being is sleeping, your Being is asleep. Your Being, here, is synonymous with Consciousness. Consciousness is dormant and Kundalini is the simple Awakening of your Being, which is Kundalini Awakening.

Thus, the truth is that when Kundalini awakens, you are beyond that state of mental consciousness, of ordinary consciousness. This state of mental consciousness I have called, here in these meetings, unconsciousness. Because in fact, varying in level of intensity or depth of this so-called mental consciousness, which is the consciousness of the common human being, of the human being… which is the great part of humanity living within this condition… This variation is actually the variation of depth or intensity of unconsciousness.

Then, what we call mental consciousness is actually unconsciousness, and Kundalini Awakening is the Awakening of this Consciousness to a completely different quality of life. Because in the quality of life of this mental consciousness or this unconsciousness, the human being is living in conflict, in contradiction, in suffering, full of desires and fears; they are unhappy.

So, their unhappiness is due to the lack of seeing the truth about who they are. Then, if you don't know who You are, you don't assume the Truth of this Consciousness, because you haven't awakened, because you're not awakened.

This condition of mental consciousness, or unconsciousness, as I’ve called it, varies from person to person, but basically it is suffering for everyone. And the Awakening of your Natural State of Consciousness is what the Sages in ancient India and in various traditions, just changing the expression… it is called Kundalini.

Thus, let's understand first that Kundalini is the simple Awakening of your Being, which is Consciousness, Happiness, Love, which is Peace. However, people are very interested in what they call Kundalini Awakening. But this interest is a misunderstanding, because for them Kundalini Awakening is something that will represent an added power to that person they believe to be.

So, if you’re an ordinary person, you’ll become unusual; if you are a normal person, you’ll become a special person, if you are a powerless person, you’ll become an empowered person. Thus, there is this search for the empowerment, which is the search of ego identity for being special and differentiating itself from others.

So here we already have the answer to the wrong question of those who ask: "What is the purpose of Kundalini Awakening? " The wrong answer to a wrong question is: "to give the empowerment, to give you power." And that's what people are looking for, they are looking for that: "empowerment." They are looking for power. As they discovered that there is an energy - at least in theory, in the belief, in their imagination - that there is a power within them that can be awakened, and some even say, in a very mistaken way, “it was awakened by Kundalini,” as if there was this power and Kundalini to awaken that power.

So, they want to awaken that power to be differentiated, to be special, to be powerful. The human being is completely crazy about this, they talk a lot about it nowadays. This issue of living this "man empowerment," "woman empowerment…" is the sense of being "someone"!

The mistake is here, the error is here. Kundalini is Consciousness, and Consciousness is this Unique, Simple, Natural, Divine and really Powerful Presence. The greatest Power in the Universe is within you, which is this Consciousness. However, it is not a power to serve this false "I," this "me," this ego. This Power is the Realisation of the Divine Truth.

All the saints in the history of mankind, all the Sages, had a moment of transition from mental consciousness or unconsciousness to this State of Full Consciousness, of Divine Consciousness, of Real Consciousness, but that didn’t make them empowered beings or powerful beings.

This transition is like the transition from caterpillar to butterfly. Yes, the caterpillar is greedy and it's a strange, furry insect, and some are too fat and clumsy to walk, and when you look at a butterfly you say: "What a grace, what a beauty!" Yes, the transition is something like that. The transition from your egoic state to your Divine State is something like this transition. But even this Beauty of a Sage, of a Realized Being, of those who are living in their Real Nature, even this Beauty doesn’t make them someone empowered, someone with a strong and lush ego, beautiful, who is flying around, full of powers. This is fantasy!

There is no ego in your Divine State, there is no ego in your Natural State! This the real Awakening of Kundalini! This is the Real Awakening of Kundalini! Your Being, your Vivacity, your Non-Duality, your Presence… And it's curious, when I use the expression "your." Here, I mean Presence, Vivacity, Grace. I mean What You are in your Essential Nature, which is God.

Thus, let's understand this! Suppose we have a space and we are going to make a vegetable garden. Then, we clean the ground, fluff the land and fertilize it and prepare the ground to throw the seeds, to put the seedlings, and then we’ll have a delightful vegetable garden, lush, beautiful.

Here, the work of Kundalini Awakening, which is of this Realisation of God, here in these speeches, in these meetings - and more than in these speeches, in these meetings – there’s a present Energy, there’s a present Power that is the very Power of this Consciousness, to show you that this terrain has and needs to be cleaned, so that this little garden can really be a beautiful garden, this land can really prove to be perfect for this purpose.

So is this work within yourself, this work inside you. You need this work for Kundalini Awakening. And here, I always refer to, within these meetings with you, what I consider real Kundalini, the Real Awakening of this Presence, the Real Awakening of Kundalini.

When This arrives, it represents the end of suffering and not empowerment; the end of fear and not the presence of courage; the end of war and not the presence of peace - this “peace” in this sense of an opposite that is on the other side. Peace as opposed to war, fear as opposed to courage, and so on.

I speak of the non-dual Presence of your Being, which is essentially Peace. However, it’s not the peace the mind understands, the ego idealizes. I speak of the presence of the Power! Yes, there is a Power present in a Realized Being - it is the Power of Silence, the power of Wisdom, it’s the Power of Love, it’s the power of Sanity. It’s not the power that made someone powerful. It’s the Power that dissolved the illusion of "someone" present, it’s the Power of Beauty, it is the power of the Consciousness of God, it’s the Power of non-separation, of non-duality.

Then, what's the use? Now, I'm going to put your question, my question, into context. What is Kundalini Awakening for? Now, let's correct the question, let's ask it in another way, without the misunderstanding “what is it for?”, because we are dealing here with something utilitarian, something that will serve some personal, egoic purpose. So, let's ask differently: “What is Kundalini?” Instead of "what's the use?" "what's the purpose…?" No! Let's ask “what is Kundalini?” Because in the answer to what is Kundalini, you already truly understand what the purpose of this Awakening is, and that's what I'm referring to here, within these meetings with you, all the time! The purpose of this Awakening is to give you the awareness of the Truth of your Being.

Jesus called “Kingdom of Heaven,” “the Truth of the Kingdom of Heaven in you.” The Flourishing of this Kingdom of Heaven is Kundalini. In Buddhism, this is called “the end of suffering” or “Nirvana…” the end of suffering. In Hinduism, it is “Moksha.” Moksha is the State of Freedom, of non-separation, of Liberation...

So, our work together within these meetings, as well as here in this in-person meeting, our purpose here is to enter into This, to the Recognition of the Truth we are here and now. Then, we eliminate the misunderstanding of the question. The purpose is here, the goal is here, but it is no longer personal, “what is it for” is also here, but it doesn’t serve a personal purpose.

It hasn’t been like this, in general… it hasn’t been like this. Every approach of the ego is for acquisition, for acquiring, for possessing and for having power for its own ends, for its own purposes - purely egoistic, purely egocentric - and we discard all that.

Then, of course… when someone asks: "But then, is it dangerous or not?" Yes… there is no greater danger in life than remaining in ego identity. That’s the greatest danger of all: to remain living, carrying this sense of separation.

If you have to go through a process of transition, of breaking this ego identity, your ego is really going through the greatest danger of all, which is going beyond that egoic sense, which is going beyond that sense of separation. That's the greatest danger of all! So, basically, there is no danger other than the illusion of your ego at risk and your Divine Life flourishing here and now.

Then, that’s the subject for you today within this meeting. Ok?

Satsang | Kundalini and the Awakening of Consciousness | The Expansion of Consciousness | The end of suffering

In general, we don't realize the implications of suffering, what it means, what it represents, and even less any need to go beyond it.

People, in general, feel that they suffer, but they never ask themselves what suffering is. What is it that sustains suffering? What is it that keeps suffering? Much less, they wonder if it is possible not to suffer. I'm not talking about physical suffering; I'm talking about psychological suffering.

There is something that is not perceived, in general. It is not clearly perceived that this suffering, which is what I consider to be true suffering, which is psychological suffering, is something entirely dependent on the state of the mind.

Your state of mind determines the level, intensity, and quality of that suffering. Suffering is something psychological, it is something that thought produces, sustaining a certain state, that state of mind, the mental state of pain, the mental state of contradiction, the mental state of conflict, which is basically an unhealthy state of mind. So, you see, there is no real mental health when the state of mind is the state of suffering.

There are several names, there are several nomenclatures for the conditions of psychological pain, and here I want to tell you that it is possible to find out how to deal with it. So, you might end up having an answer to a question you never asked yourself. The question: is it possible to go beyond it? Is it possible not to suffer? Is it possible to discover a quality of life free from all this psychological burden of pain? The names are different, the conditions are different, these representations are different, of how, psychologically, this mental state of non-psychological health is shown.

In this work with you, in this work here together, we can investigate this, we can have the direct Understanding of the Truth about who we are. There are expressions that try to point to This, to this possibility of going beyond this condition. What condition is this? It is the condition of the state of psychological disorder, as I have called it, or psychological insanity. So, our job here together is to see that, to get closer to that.

This condition of psychological disorder, of unconsciousness, are expressions that we use here to point to the very same thing. I speak of something which is possible for you to go beyond, so that you can truly discover the end of suffering.

An interesting aspect of this issue of suffering is that... one thing you don't realize is, actually, how much in the mind there is a self-conservation, there is a self-preservation, because there is a self-appreciation of this state, the state of psychological pain, the state of contradiction, of conflict, of psychological disorder.

In India, they call Maya the mistaken view, the view of illusion, this representation of the world based on a completely mistaken view, completely out of reality. So, in India they call it Maya. This is the ordinary state of consciousness. The ordinary state of consciousness of the human being is the state of unconsciousness. This vision that does not match reality is the way the mind represents life, how it stands in front of what is presented. So, in India they call this Maya, this vision, this illusion, and this is the state of mind in this lack of internal health, of psychological health. That condition is the condition of the mind in its limitation, it is the condition of unconsciousness. So human consciousness is this unconsciousness trapped in Maya, trapped in this illusion, trapped in this sense of illusory reality.

It's important that you understand that it has a very… a very typical way of showing up inside you, but you rarely notice it. What am I talking about? I'm talking about appreciation, conservation, maintenance of that state which, basically, is an indirect way of appreciating suffering, of appreciating this condition.

That's why I've been calling it insanity. The human being lives in a psychological state of disorder that I have called insanity. In addition to not clearly realizing that he suffers and never asking himself if it is possible to go beyond that suffering, he, in addition, suffers and is unaware of how much he appreciates this condition, and what he does is conservation for the maintenance of this condition.

So, some have called this possibility of going to an entirely different condition… some have called it a new way of looking at life, having a different consciousness from this, this so-called common consciousness. Recently someone talked about this thing called expanded consciousness or the Expansion of Consciousness. Okay, let me use this language here with you. I'm going to call this also, now, New Consciousness.

This way of seeing oneself within this context of life requires a New Consciousness. Here, what one would call expanded consciousness, I could call New Consciousness, a New Consciousness – understanding that Consciousness is limitless, it is not Consciousness that is actually going to expand. Your Natural Real State of Being is a State free from all suffering, because it is a state free from that psychological disorder, that psychological insanity; it is a free state of Maya.

We can use many terms to put this to you, here.

So, I would say that this State of Consciousness, which I have also called the Natural State of Being, and now I am calling it New Consciousness or Real Consciousness, is something that is simply your Essential Nature, your Natural State of Being, free from suffering and, naturally, free from the appreciation of this ego identity, this state of self-conservation, of self-preservation in pain. So, telling people that they appreciate suffering may at first sound very strange and even unacceptable to them, but in fact, it is so.

You, for example, enjoy being accepted. This is a form of appreciating suffering, because if you appreciate being accepted, if you care about it, if this is relevant to this “me,” to this “I,” to this ego, that is a classic sign of psychological insanity and appreciation of pain, because the world will not appreciate you as you wish. So, all this expectation… I'm here giving an example, but you can find many other examples of this. So, what people are looking for is not exactly suffering, what they are looking for is appreciation, but that comes in a package, because you are not always appreciated as much as you want and for as long as you want… and whether you are appreciated! So, it's a form of searching, of looking for suffering.

So, the ego lives in this emotional, psychological dependence. These various emotional dependencies clearly represent a perfect appreciation of suffering. Going beyond that means awakening to this New Consciousness. The human being suffers from this evil, the evil of an old consciousness, of a limited consciousness, of an insane consciousness, what I have called, I repeat, insanity or unconsciousness.

The Awakening of your Being, the Awakening of your Divine Nature, and our proposal within... here with you, is to guide you in that direction, showing you how This becomes possible, the Awakening of your Being, the Awakening of your Divine Nature, the Awakening of that Sacred Potential that You carry within Yourself, which is the Presence of Consciousness, which is the Presence of God! Ramana said that this is the Presence of Kundalini, which is inside and also outside the body. So, Kundalini is the Presence of Consciousness, and it is It that works in this organism, in this body-mind, for a change, so that this condition of egoic identity, of a sense of separation, of a sense of duality, of unconsciousness, of collective insanity, there in that organism, disappears.

So that's our job here with you. We are working together this issue of the Awakening of the Truth that we are here and now, and that is Kundalini Awakening, the Awakening of Consciousness, the Awakening of your Being, because Kundalini and Being are synonymous; Consciousness and Kundalini are synonymous. The Awakened State, which is the Christ State, the Buddha State, the Ramana Maharshi State, is the State where this Presence, which is this Consciousness, has taken over that body, that mechanism, that organism.

An important thing to be said here about the importance of the Awakening of Consciousness, Kundalini Awakening, is that It brings about a change in that organism. It breaks this habitual condition of the egoic mind to function in this body, in this brain, in this format. So, when that is broken, your brain is in a new condition, your body is in a new condition. Some call this "Spiritual Awakening." So that's the purpose, that's Spiritual Awakening. Spiritual Awakening is the end of the illusion of the sense of an ego identity present here and now, in this experience. Spiritual Awakening is the end of the illusion of someone present.

You are Love in your Being, You are Consciousness, You are that Presence.

When This is present, when This is, the All is present. Our work together is for this Realization of Truth that we are here and now, for this Spiritual Awakening, for this Vision of this New Consciousness, in full expansion, beyond any need to expand – It is already This! That's what we're dealing with you. The end of suffering is possible here and now, in This… In What You are!

Satsang | Kundalini: Dangers, myths, imaginations, fantasies and fears

So, here we are going to talk to you about this frequent question about the problem of Kundalini.

Some have seen this issue of Kundalini as a difficult thing to understand, and there is even a lot of fear about this subject.

So, I want to talk to you a little bit about that, about what are actually myths, imaginations, fantasies and dangers. People ask about dangers, or their doubt is basically about dangers, and around these dangers there are many myths, fantasies and imaginations.

Let's face this matter very direct, very simply. Notice that breathing, for example, is a natural process, it's a simple process.

You don't need to get involved with this process. If you get involved with this process, you can create clutter. So, yes, there is a certain danger, for example, in you trying to change the way you breathe. Note that breathing is not something you do, it is something that happens in a simple, direct and natural way. The less you are involved, for example, with breathing, the better for you, because there is no risk. Nature is in charge of it, nature takes care of it.

Regarding Kundalini Awakening, we have exactly the same thing here. You are not going to do something to awaken the Kundalini. So, when people ask “how to awaken the Kundalini?”, this question already starts wrong from that expression; the expression “how." That would be the same as asking “how to breathe?” You never ask how to breathe, you just breathe. Kundalini is the same thing. You just find out how this process takes place; you observe how this process takes place.

So, this is the real way to Kundalini Awakening. This does not involve any danger. Danger comes when you want to control what you cannot control and you want to get involved with what you cannot get involved. If this is a process like breathing itself and you don't get involved in it, in breathing, why should you engage with the process of Kundalini Awakening?

Here again, we come across this fantasy: the fantasy that you are going to do this. It's always, basically, the idea of “someone," "someone" controlling something, "someone" doing something, which actually is completely absurd, because Kundalini, basically, is the Awakening of Consciousness, and Awakening of Consciousness is the end of the illusion of "someone," of someone present, "someone" present to do, to be determined, to perform, to control. "Someone" present is basically unconsciousness.

The idea you have about who you are is unconsciousness. Your idea of any control over any aspect of life is complete unconsciousness. So here we are faced with this illusion. So, it's an illusion, it's a fantasy, it's an imagination, the Kundalini Awakening by you.

Kundalini Awakening is a process that takes place in the body, because of this Consciousness becoming aware of Itself in this organism, in this body-mind. Just like breathing – when you don't mess with it, it doesn't pose any risk to you –, so is with Kundalini Awakening!

What I have noticed is that some have attributed some symptoms, some psychological patterns emerging, some patterns of psychic presentations appearing, to the Kundalini Awakening. So, they say, “Look, Kundalini has awakened and now it's like this, like this, like this and like this.” What you have there, is just a psychological representation still of unconsciousness, of psychological disorder. This is not Kundalini Awakening.

So, people come and say: "Kundalini Awakening is very dangerous, because I know someone in whom Kundalini awakened and she started having visions, started talking to beings from the other worlds or to spiritual entities." Anyway, there is a lot of this happening concerning this matter of Kundalini Awakening. Then, fear arises, then there is this so-called danger, which is actually a myth, is a fantasy, is an imagination, is an illusion.

The Awakening of your Being is something natural. Humanity is currently experiencing a moment of transition, but this has always been like this. In the history of humanity, men and women left this old condition of ego identity, of unconsciousness, of an egoic model of life, for a new moment – not to say “a model” –, a new moment. I could call it a New Consciousness, a New Presence of Existence.

So, this transition is natural. This transition – and here we are putting it in this format of a speaking to you… This transition, some have called "the Awakening of Consciousness", others have called "Spiritual Awakening," "Spiritual Enlightenment."

So, it is the simple transition from the egoic state to the non-egoic state; from unconsciousness, from life in the ego, to a Full Consciousness of Divine Presence in the world, in your life, in your existence. This transition is possible and it takes place when there is, naturally, a change in that body, in that mind. And of course, this change will imply, or does imply, naturally, something new arising, a new process of feeling physically, and thinking, psychologically speaking.

So, this change, yes, one may find it strange, but it is something natural; there is no risk, there is no danger in that.

What I have seen is that some disorders, also arising within this unconsciousness, are being attributing to Kundalini Awakening. Then they say, "Be careful, because Kundalini Awakening is dangerous." No, Kundalini Awakening is a transitional process, although it implies a change, a certain discomfort for the body and for the mind, for this biological mechanism and for this psychological mechanics of this whole body-mind structure. But even so, it is still a natural and risk-free process.

All those who Realized the Truth about themselves had to go through this transition, had to go through this process, had to go through this shift. Now, that doesn't annul either, here for you, the fact that we're dealing with Divine Power, with something that is more powerful than the entire Universe.

We are dealing with what Indians call "Shakti" or the Power... the Power of God, the power of this "Mysterious Thing,” without name, without form...This has an extraordinary Power! The detail is that this Power is neutral. When it starts a work process in this organism, it has a way to happen.

Here, the only risk, or the only danger, is when the egoic mind, or the sense of "I," wants to intervene or interfere in such a natural process, which is the process of this Power moving in this mechanism, in this organism. I never tell people around me, for example, to change their breathing. In fact, I never indicate any technique of practice of meditation, because if you change this issue of breathing, you put the body in an unnatural condition of oxygenation, gas exchange, in short, there is a metabolic change there in the body, in that mechanism, in that organism. This may not be good for the body and naturally this may create some psychophysical alteration in the mechanism.

So, if you are in a process of the Awakening of this Energy, this Divine Power, which is neutral, it can bring some alteration. So, the only risk, or the only danger, is when the ego interferes, is when there is the idea of “someone" present wanting to do something to force a situation or speed up a situation.

So, within this talk here with you, I want to “prepare the ground.” At the same time, I'm telling you that there's no risk, now I'm telling you that you don't have to get involved.

If you aspire to a Divine Life, a Realized Life, a Life in Consciousness, it is important that your body has a condition to support this process of change, of transformation.

So, what I have recommended to people is: be careful with the use of alcohol, be careful with the use of tobacco, be careful with the use of drugs, be careful with the use of unnatural practices, such as the issue of sexuality, or the breathing issue, or any other. This is the care you have to take if you aspire to a Divine Life, a Real Life, a True Life, a Life in God.

It is much simpler, because it is natural and flows in a much more comfortable way the Awakening of this Divine Power in a body, for example, clean, in a mind that has a certain balance, for example, moral. It is not by chance that religions, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Taoism, all the great religions of the world prescribe for human beings an ethical life, a moral life, a life of discipline, not of excess, of not abusing the body. Do you understand this? Because all this makes it easier for this Energy, this Power, which is Kundalini, which is a Power and a completely neutral Presence, to be able to work in this mechanism, in this organism, and find a good organism in good conditions for a process so natural that it is the Awakening of Consciousness, which is that shift, which is that transition from an egoic state to a State of Full Consciousness.

So, the recommendations are these: maintain an ethical life, maintain a moral life, maintain a disciplined life, so that your body and mind are able to receive the impact of this change that is necessary.

The body needs to have a condition – which I would say a minimal condition – for Spiritual Enlightenment, and since there is no Spiritual Enlightenment, or Spiritual Awakening, or the Realisation of God without a change in that body-mind structure, so the chances are 0% for the one who, in this life, does not turn to the Truth of his own Being.

Is it possible for exceptions to happen? Yes. Is it possible that someone addicted to smoking or alcohol, using alcohol, or even drugs, or sex, has an encounter with this Presence and this Power? I'm talking about someone who has an unruly life on some level, even ethical and moral. I'm not saying this is impossible, but these are exceptions. There are reports in the history of men and women who Realized the Truth, had an encounter that, in that touch, there was such a profound change that there was a break in all these patterns of behaviors, of practice, and there was, yes, this Kundalini Awakening and this Realisation of God, but those are exceptions. Just like some of these exceptions are those who awaken at 15 years of age, as well as those who awaken at 16 years of age, like Ramana Maharshi, without even the presence of a human Guru, a human being as his Guru.

Another interesting thing about this subject – and here I've been talking to you, and we have videos on YouTube dealing extensively with this subject – is that This is something natural. Again: This is something so natural that you don't need to know anything about It! In fact, here less is more. If you know little, you already know too much!

A baby, when he is born, nobody tells him that he will have to face a pain: the pain of breathing. But it's a transition. The baby is surrounded by this so-called amniotic fluid; he's been there a long time! The child is in a “very comfortable” condition in his discomfort, because it is the condition he knows, and when he is faced with the air outside, the doctors say that there is pain. He now needs this transition, needs this change. He will no longer be where he spent many "years" of his existence – his nine months were like years. He will now have to come across something new. This transition hurts… this transition hurts, it hurts.

The Kundalini Awakening, the Awakening of Consciousness, this change can bring pain, but nothing that would be unnatural. For the child, there was pain; for the little baby, there was the pain, but it wasn't unnatural, it was part of such a natural transition process. “But no one informed me about this before!” – he didn't need to know anything about it.

In my own experience, I had never even remotely read about It, heard about It. Kundalini Awakening, which is the Awakening of Consciousness, you… the less you know about it, the better!

There are things you need to know, but the only knowledge that is necessary for Kundalini Awakening or the Awakening of Consciousness, which is the same thing, the only knowledge you need is knowing how to unlearn everything you have learned! You, like that baby, must also be Born. Are we in this together?

The baby is born without knowing. When you reach this “not knowing,” you are also ready to be Born. This is the Awakening of Consciousness! So, the only thing you need is to unlearn everything you've learned. What I've noticed is that people, over the years, accumulate information about everything. As they are borrowed, non-experiential pieces of information, they talk about things as if they really knew, and they don't! As they don't really know, what they know about it becomes, inside them, a distortion, a mistaken form of understanding. This is where fantasies, myths, imaginations and fears arise.

Here, this Divine Awakening, this transition, is the Natural Awakening of God. This cannot be dangerous. Danger arises when there is the idea of “someone" imagining, fantasizing, or trying to interfere with what does not concern him. So, relax about it. Turn to self-inquiry: “Who am I?”.

Ramana said... Ramana Maharshi used to say that what yogis intend to accomplish through mudras, mantras, techniques, and practices, including breathing practices, the various practices linked to this question of breathing, Ramana said "here...", he said: "here, through Jnana, in a natural, automatic way, Kundalini Awakening happens." He said: "Kundalini is another word for Consciousness, for Shakti."

So, see. You don't need to know anything about It. So really, the less you know, the better. Even because what you know, as it is not experiential, not real knowledge, it will be part of your imagination, your confusion, your beliefs, it is useless - perhaps, to give you more fear or a purely egoic conviction to master something that, in fact, you don't master; to know something that, in fact, you don't know.

Knowledge has this thing. It's not our subject here, within the theme, but it's just an addendum to you. Knowledge has this thing. Knowledge is a kind of badge that you can wear. Do you know the policeman? He presents the badge before ordering the arrest. Knowledge, in its various areas, works like this. You present your doctorate, as if there was a doctor! A doctor is the one who started to learn something, he just started to learn, he just started to discover. It doesn't matter what area he's in, he's just the first student, that's all. He differs from the others because he is the first student, he is the one who sits there in the front and pays attention, has more dedication to start learning. He's the doctor!

But in the ego, you present your badge, your title, and say, "I know." This is vanity, this is pride, this is presumption. So, knowledge serves as a badge for the vain, proud ego, for knowledge that, in fact, ego doesn't have. So, abandon it. As far as the Realization of Truth is concerned, the Sage is not a fruit… not the ripe fruit of a tree called knowledge. You look at a tree and there you see a ripe fruit, and you say, "There it is...". No, it's not! The Sage is not the ripe fruit of a tree called knowledge, the Sage is Being, Consciousness, Pure Knowledge, and not the knowledge of understanding, of knowing.

The Reality that You are has no badge, the Reality that You are is Being.

That's the Sage! The Awakening of the Truth of who You are is the Awakening and Flourishing of your Natural State of Being, which is Kundalini… Consciousness, Being, Kundalini, Happiness – they are synonymous!

Look, notice what I'm saying! Being, Consciousness, Kundalini, Happiness is the same thing! I'm not saying it, Ramana is saying it. But you don't stick with what Ramana says, because you will believe it. You have to experience, you have to discover, within yourself, that the classic sign of the Awakening of this Presence, which I have called here the Real Kundalini… the Real Awakening of Kundalini is the end of the illusion of the sense of separation. There is no you and the other, there is no you and the world, there is no you and God when the Real Awakening of Kundalini takes place! There comes the end of suffering, and that is Happiness! Anything outside That is not Kundalini Awakening. The classic sign of Kundalini Awakening is the Awakening of the Sage, of Wisdom. This is present when there is no form of suffering – I mean psychological suffering – there is no longer any form of internal disorder. Are we in this together? There is no form of internal clutter!

Someone asks me: “Oh, is that true?” Look at yourself and ask yourself: “Is anyone here?” The sign of “someone” here is always the sense of separation. The day you can look and find absolutely nothing else, and only That which is to remain simply as What is - and What is, is Life as It is...”

When there is the Realization of That what You are, there is no “you.”

This doesn't give you a certificate or authority… Fantasies, imaginations, myths!

All right?

Satsang | How to deal with thoughts? | Full Attention (Mindfulness) | Kundalini Awakening

It seems that this is something very frequent, this question on how to deal with thoughts… how to deal with thoughts. First, it's important you realize all the confusion thought causes, all this mess, all this internal disorder thought causes.

You know what the state of anxiety, for example, or fear, boredom, loneliness, depression, means... You know what the state means, but you don't realize that the matrix of this is thought itself, the mother of all this is thought. These internal, psychological states the human being has are all based on the chaotic, disordered, conflicting movement of thought.

Thus, the doubt is: how to deal with it? And someone says "ah, I have trillions of thoughts! They're repetitive thoughts, obsessive thoughts, uncontrolled thoughts, and what you say is true: these thoughts sustain and feedback these states, these internal states of suffering, of disorder. However, what do we do with these trillions of thoughts?" That's what people ask. But I have one thing to say: it's not like that! Not like that… you don't have trillions of thoughts; you only have one thought; it's always one thought.

Thought respects the queue, it doesn't cut the queue. Just notice what I'm saying. You get into a bank and people there can disrespect the line. Thought doesn't do that. Thought has a well-ordered form of presentation in its disorder. That's right! Thought has an orderly way in its disorder of showing itself. So, it doesn't skip the line. It's one thought, always one thought after another.

Thought has a sequence of presentation. Thought always shows itself one at a time. A thing you still haven't noticed, in a clear way, and that's why you're in this misunderstanding of this matter of trillions of thoughts and living these states, is that there's a space between one thought and another. There's not only a space between one feeling and another, one emotion and another, but also between one thought and another. You need to discover that space.

Our whole emphasis in this process of Spiritual Awakening, in the Awakening of Consciousness, is on becoming aware of this space; it's always the space between that first thought and the next. I'll repeat: it has an orderly, sequential way of showing itself; a disorderly way of presenting itself. This psychological disorder in you is because of this disorganized form of the representations of thought, but well organized in the sense that it's one thought after another. So, the good news is that it's possible to become aware of the movement of thought knowing that it's sequential. You have a thought and then you have another thought, then you have another thought.

The speed of these thoughts is determined by the depth of this present unconsciousness. The deeper the unconsciousness of the movement, the faster thought happens, the quicker thought happens. But, yes, it's sequential. Do you understand it?

There's a space between the first and second thought. Why don't you find out what this space is?! It's a question and an exclamation at the same time. You don't find out because you're not interested; you don't find out because you don't know about the existence of the space, because you don't realize its presence. And why don't you realize it? As a matter of habit, as a matter of the addicted practice of thinking.

You don't find that in Realized Beings. Those who Realize their Being are aware of this Consciousness. This Consciousness finished, put an end to unconsciousness, to this deep unconsciousness about the thought's movement.

The Realized Being has thoughts, but I compare it to taking what you need out of the drawer and then closing the drawer when you don't need anything from the drawer. You know you have a safe. You open the safe and take out what you need, but you don't leave the safe open; you close the safe when you no longer need it. Thought is something like this.

The natural movement of thought – and here I speak of the natural movement of Being what You are – is that thought is something functional. You open the safe and take out what you need; you open the drawer and take out what you need. You don't need more? You close it. You don't want anything else from the safe? You close it. Thought, in us, should have this natural movement. And that's how it happens, that's how it occurs when there's Consciousness. When there's no Consciousness, the movement is the previous one: chaotic, disturbed, disturbing, disordered, restless, of an absurd chatter, upholding – not only motivating, creating but also upholding – conflicting, internal states of suffering.

Then, all the psychological suffering in you is based on that inattention. When there's Consciousness over this movement, it ceases, it stops. Ego, this sense of separate identity, is basically unobserved thought. If thought isn't observed, it has the mechanical, unconscious, repetitive, messy and disturbing movement of its own.

Unless you put Consciousness over the movement of the mind, you will remain stuck within this cycle, which is the cycle of addicted thinking, repetitive thinking, chaotic thinking, disturbed thinking.

Meditation is the art of remaining aware yourself, here and now. This present moment is the great insight, it's the great key. This present moment carries this secret… this present moment. It's here and now, in this present moment, that you observe what you are. And you are what you are! If there's this chaotic state of thought, that is what you are being right now. You don't fight, don't clash, you don't don't reject, you don't do anything, you just look, observe, welcome it in this look, then it's possible for something to arise out of that. You don't superimpose on this thought that arises a new thought, a criticism, a judgment, a comparison, a rejection... You stay with what is shown. That's it!

You underestimate what I'm telling you here. There's great power in doing this! When we speak of the Awakening of Consciousness, we are speaking of the Awakening of that Power of Mindfulness, of Full Consciousness, of Full Attention over oneself. So, we have words or expressions that may look different in each religion, or in each philosophical tradition, or religious, or spiritual, whatever you want to call it. The languages are different, but we are talking about a single "Thing": Presence and Consciousness of yourself, Attention over yourself, Full Attention, Mindfulness. We are addressing your Natural State of Perception of the Reality of What is here and now.

Don't underestimate this. When this is done in a simple, natural, direct way, a Power arises from within you. It's like a little… it's like a little rosebud. It's there in the middle of the arrangement. You look, it has no expression. You see a rose arrangement for example. There's a little bud there, very small, in the midst of those beautiful roses that have bloomed, that are open. You look at that vase and say "how beautiful that is! Look how beautiful it is!", but there's a hidden bud in the middle. You know what I'm talking about, right? There are always two, three, four, five, six, eight very small buds. Do you know what will happen? You can't see anything, but two days from now those buds aren't buds anymore, they've bloomed, and those old roses are already diminishing their freshness, their vivacity, but those new ones are blooming.

When you start paying attention to yourself – and you do it now, here, moment by moment, by self-observation… See, I'm always using new words, or not, known words, saying one single thing every time! The single thing is always new, words are old. I've now used another... In this self-observation, which is this Full Attention, which is Mindfulness, which is Consciousness over yourself...

In this self-observation, this Energy, which is this Power, which is this Consciousness internally sleeping since It has a blanket of images, beliefs, thoughts, memories, remembrances, dreams, imaginations, which are thoughts... When that blanket is taken off – and it's taken off when there's this True Meditation, this Real Space for Meditation – then that Energy emerges. Yoga says that it ascends, it goes up. It doesn't matter, the fact is that it will do a job internally.

They call this "Kundalini Awakening." It's the Awakening of this mechanism that makes those roses show themselves as what they are: roses! Do you see? Roses are roses! Roses are not orchids, they are not daisies, they are not bromeliads… Roses are roses! They're not buds, they're roses! When it blooms, you have the roses! Then, when Kundalini awakens, when that Energy flourishes, that Consciousness takes on that Space which is Its, and that egoic sense disappears.

Let's clear this up for you. I can imagine a Kundalini awakening, I can have some psychic or so-called spiritual experiences of this so-called Kundalini I imagine, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the Awakening of Consciousness. I can also use that expression to imagine third degree contact – you know what that means – or fifth degree contact, but I'm talking about the Awakening of Consciousness, which represents the end of this unconsciousness, which is this movement, which is the movement of thought we've talked about just now.

And how does it happen? By Attention! Within that space between one thought and another, you put Attention. A thought comes up – it's not trillions of thoughts, it's one thought coming up, it's always one at a time, it's always one feeling at a time – you pay Attention to it. If it's anger, it's anger, okay. You won't fight with anger. Anger is something that's also a feeling, sensation and thought; it's a package: it's a thing in the body, it's a thing in the emotion, it's a thing in the mind, it's a story... It's all part of that anger, and I pay attention to it, I look at it, and it's just anger. It has a specific thought and I look at that specific thought; I don't put an idea about what I should do, how should I deal with anger.

Thought says, "breathe in a certain way." Don't worry about this. This might help, but it won't solve it. You'll have other angry moments. You'll learn how to deal with anger through a breathing technique… That's why I never recommend meditation practices, because in practices of meditation you learn how to deal with thought. Here, I show you how to go beyond thought by observing its movement, not by trying to adjust it, silence it, mold it through music; lead it, guide it to silence through breathing; lead it, guide it towards silence… This also applies to an emotion, such as anger. That won't solve it! You don't need that!

Here and now, at this moment, at the present moment, you have the opportunity to become aware of the movement of the mind, and that is all it takes for a break in this programming, this conditioning, this model, this whole disorder that thoughts, feelings, and emotions cause. That's the end of psychological insanity, that's the end of this internal, psychological disorder, that's the end of psychological disorder, that's the end of psychological insanity.

What I want to tell you is that there is a dysfunctional movement present in the ego and this can and needs to be broken by this Full Attention. Thus, it's not a technique… Mindfulness, Full Attention is not a technique. It's here and now, Attention on yourself; Consciousness on yourself now, here, at this moment, and it's this Attention given to this space between a thought and another, between a feeling and another, an emotion and another emotion, a perception and another perception, now, here.

When thought tells you, "See, there's no way because there are trillions of thoughts," it has already won, it is already convincing you by imagination that it's superior to you, since you are one and it represents trillions, it's a legion of thoughts. Then, it beats you right away. "I don't know what to do with these trillions of thoughts." There's nothing to do with them at all! Because they're not trillions, it's just one thought; observe the next one.

The problem is that we don't learn to stand in line. We always find a way to speed things up. This is typical of the egoic movement! You don't know how to respect a queue at the bank, you don't know how to respect the arrival of the elevator, you don't know how to wait for the result of a work… you have the urgency and the rush that things need to happen when you want them to happen, in your time, in your own way, and in the specific way you want. This is all part of the movement of psychological insanity, coordinated, ordered, motivated and also produced by thought. This model needs to be undone. Can you see that?

Here, my emphasis is on the True, Real Meditation. My emphasis here is on waiting for the elevator to arrive, or you can go out desperate, running down the stairs, or you can, at that moment, get into a level of anxiety… you know, an elevator takes about what? Thirty seconds, one minute, two minutes to arrive? I don't know. However, if the elevator breaks, perhaps you wait for three hours. If you're inside the elevator it gets even more complicated because then, maybe, if the power goes out or if the elevator breaks and no one notices, and everything stops, and you don't get help, you're going to be there for a few hours. And now? Anxiety takes over! You don't know how to wait!

It's like this matter of Spiritual Awakening or the Awakening of Consciousness, or Kundalini Awakening. People speed up, they say "it has already awakened!" No, it hasn't awakened, it's just an impression, it's just imagination. People say "my Kundalini has awakened." They write to me "what shall I do?" People, when the sense of separation is over, you won't ask someone else what to do. When Kundalini awakens, there's the Realisation of God, Intelligence has taken over the body, it's not a psychic experience, it's not a vision, it is not a…

So, it's very important to have a real approach to this. It's very important that we look at what we are here and now, and observe what is shown here, at this moment. It's the queue, it's to wait, it's to wait, ok. It's to look, ok. It's to see, ok. Let the elevator arrive. Did the elevator break and you're inside it? Wait. Meanwhile, turn yourself to this Space that is Silence, which is Consciousness, and there will be no anxiety.

There you have the most wonderful opportunity of the True Practical Meditation. Did the elevator stop working? There's nowhere to go, there's nothing to do but wait. So, now it's observing the mind.

People will say, "I can't sleep, I lay down to sleep… what do I do? Because the trillions of thoughts come in…" I'll correct this again: it's one thought at a time. Keep your body lying down and observing the movement of the mind. A thought arises, you look at it; another one appears, you look at it; a third one appears, you look at it. But no! People get up and turn on the television, will see the latest post on WhatsApp or… There's no such thing of insomnia, only this restlessness. You welcome this restlessness in self-observation. Don't resist, don't fight, don't move! It's an opportunity for the True Practical Meditation.

This goes for a queue at the bank, it goes for a queue when… at the restaurant waiting for a table; this goes for waiting in the elevator; this goes for when you're at your doctor's office waiting for your turn… I don't know if you've noticed that there's a line for everything! How could thought not obey this same criterion and knowing that there's a line, too? It can't come in trillions; it comes one at a time. I'm already giving you a secret here, a big secret!

Discover this, observe that it's one thought at a time. So, what's your job here and now? To observe the mind.

It's like asking "what's the next thought?" Try it now. Ask "what's the next thought?" Notice, when you ask this question there's no thought, thought doesn't say what is the next. Then, there's a space of not knowing. This is the secret of Meditation, of True Meditation.

You can do this driving a car, you do it walking, you do it having lunch… you don't need to be in a special place! This is part of Meditation!

Do you see what I'm saying? As you listen to the sound of the wind or of a stone crusher, anyway, while you are here and now, at this moment, and learn how not to reject, not to fight, not to resist the present moment as it is, as it appears, you discover that there is nothing happening outside. The conflict is all internal, the resistance is internal, and if there's resistance, there's no True Meditation. However, if there's no resistance, you're already open to Meditation.

What is valid for what is outside, is valid for what is also inside. It's not the thoughts, these trillions of thoughts that keep you from being in Silence; it's your resistance to them, it's the non-Attention to the space that arises between them. And when I use the expression "Attention," it means relaxed, contemplative, friendly… it can't be another thought: "I have to be aware, I have to pay attention. Forget the drill!" – this is another thought! No! Welcome the drill, welcome everything! Observe, pay attention.

This is the art of Real Meditation. Deepening this is something powerful because that's what creates this facilitation for the Awakening of this Energy called Kundalini. Then, this body-mind will go through a process of change, of transformation, and then, of course, this brain will no longer work this way, and this organism will no longer be in this psychological dysfunction. There will be Order, there will be Peace, there will be Silence, there will be Consciousness, there will be the Presence. That's the point, and that's the subject… and that's it!
