Joel Goldsmith | Arrows on the Infinite Way | Psychological Time | Marcos Gualberto

GC: Hello, everyone. We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto is here with us. Thank you, Master, for being here. Today I am going to read an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith's book called "Arrows on the Infinite Way." In an excerpt from this book, Master, Joel makes the following comment: "God's tomorrow is the unfolding of now. God is God now." Regarding this issue of time, can the Master share his vision on this subject with us?

MG: Gilson, this is one of the basic subjects for all of us here. The clear vision that every thought in you is a movement in you, which is affirming, all the time, an experience that has already happened. The idea we have is about a notion of something that will come, of something that will happen, but this something is thought itself creating an image about it. So, notice, there is something very important to be investigated: the illusion of thought we have about this thing called "time." What is present here, as a present thought, is a memory. It is just a memory of something that has already been. If it has already been, it is not here; if it is a thought, it is an image about it. So, when we talk about time, we are only talking about an idea, a belief, something that does not exist.

There is no such thing as "time." The past is not real; the future is thought projecting itself, it is not real either; and this idea of present, you see, it is always thought of asserting its own presence with this word called "time," because the only thing there is at this moment is thought. There is no such thing as time. Time is an illusion! We have chronological time: "Tomorrow, at three o'clock, I have an appointment." That is chronological time. To learn something, it requires the presence of practice, of experience, of knowledge. That takes time, chronological time; it takes hours, days, months or years. So, we know this time, which is calendar time, but psychologically there is no such thing as time.

This comprehension is important, Gilson, because when people have, for example, the ideal of Realizing God, it is tomorrow. Because the idea, in thought, is that God is somewhere, and to get there, this naturally requires time. If He is somewhere, you need time, because you have to leave here to find Him there. If you want to free yourself from some suffering, such as anger, fear, jealousy, the pain of loneliness, anguish, depression... See, there are countless forms of suffering that, as human beings, we are experiencing. All of this suffering originates in the psyche, it originates in the mind. What is this psyche? What is this mind? Here, we are faced with the movement of thought itself. It is only with the movement of thought that there is this mind, there is this psyche, and this movement of thought is exactly the movement of time.

So, notice what an interesting thing, here there is the movement of thought itself, which constructs exactly this idea of time: "I went through something yesterday and I am suffering exactly because of what I went through yesterday, here, today, in this present moment. I am upset, angry, upset because of something that happened to me yesterday." If I am upset, this upsetment about what happened yesterday is in this moment, it is in this instant. This is happening now, here, today, to me, but what is this suffering really? Notice: it is the presence of the image, it is the presence of memory, it is the presence of thought. So, it is the truth of thought that creates this time, this past and this present. It is based on thought that this entire psychic structure is grounded in, which is the structure of the mind. This is what affirms an identity present in this moment, which is the "I," and this is exactly the presence of time: this yesterday, this today and the idea of tomorrow.

Notice that all of this revolves around thought. So, it is thought that creates time and sustains the identity of someone in that time, suffering for something. This suffering is a suffering constructed, established by thought. The present element in this suffering is this supposed present entity, which we call "I," "me," "person." So, see how important it is for us to have a direct comprehension of this subject here. When we eliminate thought, we eliminate time, we eliminate the past. If we eliminate the past, we eliminate the illusion of someone present today, here. Elimination of this someone is the elimination of this past, of this memory, of this remembrance, of this thought. This is the end of time. When time ends, there is no "I." So, there comes the end of thought. This is the end of time, because it is the end of the past; this is the end of the "I."

The encounter with the present Reality is the encounter with this instant, free from thought, therefore free from the past, therefore free from the "I," free from this "me," this ego. Thus, the Reality is that there is no such thing as time, when thought is not there. But when thought arrives, time arrives with thought; and with this time, the idea of someone who has lived that or who will live, in the future, something else. All of this is within the model of thought. Can we eliminate from our lives thought and, therefore, time and, naturally, this feeling, emotion, sensation, of this "I"? With the end of all this, a discovery appears, in this instant, a realization presents itself in this moment: it is the Awareness of your Being, it is the Awareness of Divine Truth. This Divine Truth, which is the Truth of God, is not something in time, it is not something that is within the model of thought. It has no relation with this so-called "past," "present" or "future."

This is what we are seeing here, together, working together: the end of this illusion, of the illusion of time, of the illusion of the "I." So, the Awakening of your Divine Nature, the Flourishing of the Truth of God, is the Awareness of That which is here and now, free from time. Thus, we are facing a new feeling, a new thinking, a new perception of this instant, this moment. This is what we are, together, deepening in all these meetings. Discovering the nature of your Being requires the discarding of this "person," how you see yourself, how you feel you are, how you think you are, how you move each day, being it, seeing yourself as it. There is something present, and this something present is not this "person," it is not this "me." Thus, these meetings have the purpose of becoming aware of This, for this Vision, for this Direct Comprehension.

GC: Master, we have a question from a subscriber here on the channel. Rafael asked the following question: "Master, how do we observe thoughts?"

MG: Gilson, look at the question. Your question is: "How can we observe thoughts?" By becoming aware of them! Become aware of their presence. It's quite interesting, we spend a good deal of time unaware of the psychological movement within each of us. In one minute - this is the chronological time we call a minute; it's 60 seconds - we have, during 60 seconds, dozens of thoughts, and we don't even realize all this internal movement. hundreds of thoughts! A thought appears, then another, and another, and another, and another, and we don't realize this internal movement. This movement is a movement of complete restlessness, of agitation. Along with these thoughts, we have feelings, emotions, sensations. During one hour of the day, we go through hundreds, thousands of thoughts, but we don't become aware of these thoughts.

It's essential to have an approach to how the mind works. This mind, here, is nothing other than this movement, which is the movement of thought, of internal restlessness. Without this basis, we cannot go beyond this movement, which is the movement of the "I," of the ego, of the "me." Since it is something that is made up of memories, remembrances, recollections, what we call "me," "I," "person," is nothing other than a set of memories, a set of recollections, a set of thoughts. And we are within this movement, we are this movement itself, when we are not aware of these reactions. Thus, all we really need in life is awareness of Life itself, and we are not aware of Life when all the movement present within us is a movement of thought, occurring, processing itself in an unconscious way. Thus, this identity, this "me," this "I," is this restless, chattering, distressing psychological movement.

This is quite interesting: we only want to get rid of thoughts when they bother us. Notice how interesting it is: only when discomfort happens do you realize that you are thinking. So, what we call "I-consciousness," "my-consciousness," is something that generally goes unnoticed. We only become aware of this "I-consciousness" - which is actually this movement of unconsciousness - when these thoughts create some level of discomfort, suffering, and conflict. That's when you realize it and say, "I need to get rid of these chattering thoughts. I need to get rid of these obsessive thoughts, this compulsion to think, these negative thoughts." Only when we become aware of the discomfort do we realize that thought is an element that is present, creating problems. But the great truth is that it is present all the time, occupying this space, taking over this space, which is this awareness of this "me," this "person."

Here, the question is: can we free ourselves from thought? Is this Vision of Life possible, free from this consciousness of the "I," which is this model of unconsciousness of thought? That is what we are working on here with you. Is a silent mind, free from thought, possible? A clear, lucid, intelligent Vision of Life, free from this position, which is the position of bad, unpleasant thoughts, which create suffering, and from this other position, from these so-called "good," "pleasant" and "happy" thoughts? Can we go beyond this duality created by thought, sustained by thought, producing in each of us states of dependence, of searching for more, of longing, from these desires, as are the "good thoughts," which generate this impulse in us to do things for this "me"? And can we free ourselves from these bad, unpleasant thoughts, which generate fear, anxiety, worries, for a totally free mind?

It is this Silence, this Vision of Life, that gives you the complete comprehension that there is a present Reality, and this Reality is not the "I," it is not this "me," it is not this "person." Thus, our approach here must be this real approach to what is happening to us, here and now, to go beyond this psychological condition of identity of the "I," of egoic identity. It is this identity that is moving in this time, as we have said. All these internal states of suffering, conflict, problem, disorder, which are naturally reflected in the life of relations with people, with situations, this is something that is present due to this internal confusion, this conflicting state of existence of the "I." All this occurs due to the lack of awareness of the movement of thought itself. Here, observing thought is becoming aware of your reactions. It is not about someone in this observation, it is about pure and direct observation. Getting closer to oneself requires this ability to look without the past, without the observer, without the thinker, without the experiencer. This is when we approach Meditation.

This is what we are working on with you in these meetings, especially in these online meetings on weekends and in-person meetings. Becoming aware of the Truth about your Being is discovering what is present, that is beyond this observer, this thinker, this experiencer, this condition of restlessness, of thought.

GC: Master, we have another question from another subscriber here on the channel. Elias asked the following question: "Master, so the observer can never be seen?"

MG: So, Gilson, this observer, this element called "observer," is the one who appears observing things. There is only an observer observing things. Thought within us causes us an illusion: the illusion that there is an observer and that which he is observing. In fact, both appear together. The observer himself is that which he is observing. The end of this observer is the end of this separation between the observer and the thing observed. Here, the truth is that there is no such element called "observer." When a thought is present, what is present is thought. There is no such thing as someone being the thinker of thought. So, the presence of what is there gives us the illusion of an element capable of becoming aware of what is there. There is no such element; this is a "trick" of thought. Thought itself is creating the idea of this thinker. That which is being observed by thought is creating the illusion of an observer in that which is being observed.

What is present at this moment is observation, perception, and looking. There is no element in this looking, in this perceiving, in this observing. Now, what you are hearing here cannot be viewed only from an intellectual point of view. Intellectually, any understanding of this is useless. Here, we need a direct vision of what is being presented, that there is something present and this something is beyond what is observed, beyond this observer; there is something present and this something is beyond thought and the thinker, beyond feeling and the one who feels; there is something present and this something is the only Reality. Any and every other movement is a phenomenal movement of appearance without any importance. Thus, Divine Truth, the Truth of God is the Truth of your Being. It is that which is present and is the only Reality!

You ask: "So, the observer can never be seen?" Who would be seeing the observer? Who would be the one to see the observer? Do you see? There is only one Present Reality, and that Reality is everything! To realize the awareness of this is not something that someone does, that an observer does, that someone, in this seeing, can see, can become aware, can become aware of. Here, the awareness of your Being is becoming aware, but it is not someone becoming aware. The awareness of your Being is observation, but it is not someone in observation, it is not something observing; it is observation! There is no separation, there is no duality. There is no such thing as something else separate from life as it happens, from this awareness of Being, as it expresses itself, as it happens. Thus, a real approach of life is the real approach, in this moment, of That which is present being the only Truth of all things, being the only Reality.

GC: Thank you, Master, our time has come to an end. Thank you for yet another videocast.

And for those of you who are watching the videocast until the end and really want to live these truths, we invite you to participate in the intensive weekend meetings that Master Gualberto offers. These meetings are held online, in person and also as retreats.

In these meetings, Master Gualberto directly answers our doubts, our questions, and much more than that: he shares this State of Presence in which he lives, and this sharing is a field of Energy, a field of Silence, a field of so much Power that we end up getting a ride on this Energy of the Master. And this is an incredible facilitator for us to be able to investigate ourselves, to be able to enter the Meditative State spontaneously and naturally, to be able to silence our minds.

So, here is the invitation. In the first comment, pinned, there is the WhatsApp link to participate in these meetings. Also, please give a "like" to the video and subscribe to the channel.

And, once again, Master, thank you for the videocast.
