These various subjects we've discussed with you here require each of us to look at them with an investigative look. This investigation is not analysis, it's not evaluation, it's not comparison, it's not this attempt to intellectually understand the subject. This look or this investigation is that approach where, in this look, a direct vision of the subject is established with the totality of your Being - not just with the intellect, not just with the critical sense, with comparison, with analysis or evaluation. This is how we have to approach fundamental issues in life.
We have the fundamental questions of life here in the channel, and we are calmly looking at them, investigating what these questions are. We need Life itself in life. We have Life itself when we have the awareness of the Truth about it; and the awareness of that Truth is the awareness of who we are. So, to investigate the truth about ourselves is to approach these questions for a direct comprehension, and that's what we're doing here, our proposal here to you. A fresh look, a real investigation, this is what makes the Awakening of Wisdom possible for each of us.
We don't have the possibility of a real vision of life, in life, without the Blossoming of Wisdom. We are looking at this together here. Therefore, what are these questions? And how do we deal with all of them, how do we approach them? It is this approach to them that creates a facilitation for this Blossoming of this awareness of Truth about ourselves, and this happens when we don't run away from it, when we don't turn away from it, as we have generally done. We need to approach this issue of suffering.
The question people ask is: "How to get rid of suffering?" Here, of course, we are dealing with human suffering, with this psychic suffering. What does it mean to have a direct gaze of pure investigation, where the possibility of comprehending this condition, which is the condition of suffering, is present? Because when we ask how to get rid of suffering, we want a formula, a method, a technique, a path.
Dealing with suffering is not like dealing with a mathematical problem. When you have a mathematical problem, dealing with that problem requires an equation; if you have the equation, you have the formula. The formula is the way, it's the method, it's the technique. Most of us haven't comprehended this yet, that when we're dealing with psychic problems, with psychic suffering - and there are countless such sufferings, there are many issues to resolve - they're not mathematical issues. We are dealing with life, we are dealing with this dynamic, living, active movement of existence, and something is present in us that we don't investigate. This is part of comprehending this view and investigating this issue, which is the issue of suffering.
We need to learn something fundamental here, which is the issue of thought, the truth about thought. Because our life is guided by thought, every moment a new thought arises within you. What is the truth about thought? Is it real? Is thought new to us? Is it true that every moment we are faced with a new thought? You see, there are two aspects here. The first is that this moment is always new, but this thought that arises within each of us is not new. Thus, we need to look closely and comprehend that at each new moment a thought is present, but that thought in us is not new.
So, here we are with you investigating all these issues, and one of them is about thought. Once you comprehend how you work, you won't have any more problems. This is like knowledge - technical knowledge - to a certain extent it approaches something like this. When you know car mechanics, you don't have any problems with the fear of the car breaking down on the road, because you have the knowledge. If you have the knowledge, you can solve the problem. You may have some difficulties, as in life, life is like that, it presents difficulties. But for a mechanic, a stalled car on the road is not a problem, although it is a difficulty; or it is a problem, yes, but a problem that is in the right hands.
On the other hand, our approach to life is a mistaken one, because we don't know how to deal with what's going on in each of us, we don't know how to deal with thoughts. So, when the question is "how to deal with thoughts," we don't know. For the mechanic, finding the breakdown and solving the car's problem is something he has knowledge of, experience in, so that's a "problem" but it's not a problem he can't solve. But here, when we're dealing with thought, we're dealing with a problem that we cannot handle.
So, what is thought? Thought in each of us is a movement that is present in this instant; this instant is new, but thought is old. Thus, dealing with these memories, with these recollections or pictures that come from the past - every thought is like this: it's something that comes from the past - dealing with it in this instant is a great difficulty for each of us because we carry an illusion within us: the illusion of someone present to solve the problem. Then, in this sense, we're not dealing with something like technical knowledge.
We're dealing with something that requires the comprehension of the truth about thought. It's not knowledge and experience here, that's not what works; that's what works in purely technical knowledge, like mechanical knowledge and the experience of mechanics to solve a car problem. Here, on the other hand, the problem in us requires a look where a vision of Intelligence, of Presence and comprehension is present, so that this issue has a solution.
The various problems we have, which are these psychic sufferings, which are these emotional sufferings, thoughts, emotions, feelings, dealing with this requires this way of seeing the Truth about ourselves at this instant. We have an internal movement of separation between "I" and "not I," between thought and this thinker, between feeling and this element that feels, between sadness and someone who is sad, between worry and someone who is worried. So, we have this psychic suffering, and then the question arises "how to get rid of this psychic suffering," which is anxiety, depression, fear, anguish, the pain of loneliness, frustration, this pain of rejection. How to deal with this suffering? How to get rid of suffering?
Here we need to become aware that there is no such thing as separation. You see, this is the real way of approaching the solution to this issue or these issues involved with this question of suffering. There is no separation between you and this problem, and this issue, this given suffering. See how simple it is. The worried person doesn't have you worried, that's a thought that arises, and that thought doesn't deal with reality, it doesn't portray the truth. The worried person is you in the worry; it's not the worry and you. Get this difference.
When there's only worry, you're not worried. When fear is present, we have fear, but we don't have you afraid: that's a thought. When you say "I'm afraid," you see, fear is present, but a thought is being placed, distorting the reality of this feeling, which is this pain, which is this suffering, which we call fear. There is no such thing as a separation between you and fear, between you and sadness, between you and rejection, this pain of rejection.
That's what we need to discover here, work on here, become aware here, perceive this directly within ourselves, that what we are is what we show ourselves to be, what we present ourselves to be, what we have to be at this moment. There is no separation between the thought that arises and that thinker in that instant. When we abandon this belief that has established this division, this separation, by doing so we eliminate this condition of duality between this "I" and the "not I"; and when this is done, we are, in fact, really dealing with suffering without running away.
We're the ones giving suffering different names: we call it fear, worry, anguish, the pain of rejection, the pain of loneliness, but in fact we're dealing with suffering; and the truth about suffering is that there's no such thing as the sufferer, we just have suffering with all its mental representation of feeling, emotion and sensation at that moment. So, this is the real way of dealing with psychic suffering towards the end of it, when we don't separate, when there is no distance, when there is no separation. In this moment, we don't have duality, we don't have the sufferer with the suffering, we don't have the thinker and the thought, we don't have the fear and the fearful. Thus, we eliminate this separation when we eliminate this thought model. Try it right now: not separating yourself.
When you give your full attention to this moment, to a thought arising, an emotion, a sensation, a certain internal state arising, when you give your full attention, which is this way of looking, to investigate without any idea about it, concept about it, analysis about it, at this instant you eliminate separation, and when you eliminate separation, this psychological condition undergoes a profound change, a radical and significant change because you are faced with one single energy present, which is the unknown energy of that Divine Intelligence, of that Presence of Reality that puts an end to suffering.
Thus, how can we deal with these fundamental questions of life? By becoming aware of ourselves. The Truth about who we are eliminates the duality that thought has established, has built within each of us about who we are. So, the end of this duality is the end of these unresolved issues, because this is the end of this psychological condition of the ego, this is the end of this condition of the "I." What provides the basis for all this is the comprehension of Self-Awareness.
So, what you've just heard we have here in playlists for each of these subjects. You can take a look here on the channel: the fundamental questions of life, how to get rid of suffering, what thought is, this issue of psychic suffering. And what makes all this possible is the Revelation of the awareness of this Being, which is the Presence of Meditation. So, what is the truth about Meditation? Meditation is what is present when you learn about yourself. So, learning about Self-Awareness brings you closer to this awareness of Meditation.
