Learning about Self-Awareness | How to Find God? | How to Find Happiness? | Karma

It is quite interesting when people use expressions like 'so-and-so does not have good karma' or 'I think I do not have good karma.' This is an expression that we borrowed from Sanskrit. So, in India, the expression is common.

The word 'karma' means action. Generally, people use the expression 'karma' in the sense of a response that is coming from the past. So, they are receiving, according to their beliefs, the beliefs that they have, the result of their bad actions when something bad is happening. But, notice, we are dealing here with ideas.

What we have done together here, what we are doing together in all these meetings is investigating the truth about illusion. This is why here we are investigating with you these aspects of the mind. The mind as we know it, is the mind trapped in a model of concepts, of beliefs, suggestions, ideas.

The mind that we know is a mind that was educated, taught, oriented in this direction. We have a mind that is trapped in models of cultural, social, religious, philosophical, political thoughts. We have a conditioned mind, loaded, full of these models.

We need to discover life happening in this instant, exactly as life is, and not as thought tells us it is, and not as thought tells us it should be or what it is being because of this, that or the other thing.

We live making these connections between cause and effect, we speak of action and reaction, we speak of results that are coming from the past to 'me.' However, who is this 'me'? Who is this 'I'? Who am I?

In the search for God, where the question 'how to find God' comes in, our idea is of a project also from an evolution, from a growth, from a change of behavior and, therefore, of actions to obtain this result, which is this encounter with God, something that we will do, that we will attain, in the future. However, what we are seeing here with you is: What is the truth about all of this? That is the question, it is what we are seeing here with you.

What is this that, in thought, we imagine to be God? In the belief that we received, which is the thought that we have today, we carry this image that it is there to be found by 'me.' What is the truth about this 'me'? What are, in fact, our actions and also our reactions?

Comprehending ourselves, learning about ourselves, learning the truth about oneself, learning about Self-Awareness is what brings us close to a real vision of the Truth of Life, without these ideas. We love ideas, we love conclusions, we love beliefs, we love affirming that which was given to us as knowledge, and that today we have as something that we have acquired and we keep making affirmations of this kind, about cause and effect, karma, no karma, about God, about life, about the "why" of things.

We are trapped because we love theories, we love this knowledge that is acquired, but we do not appreciate the investigation of Truth about ourselves. We are only accumulating information, acquiring more and more knowledge about things, as if this could give us a comprehension of life for a quality of action real and free, real in Love, real in Freedom.

Therefore, when we also speak of this encounter with God, or of this encounter with Happiness, the idea is the idea of an action that makes this possible for us, that frees us from this so-called 'bad karma.' We need to have an encounter with God, we need to have an encounter with Happiness, we need to have an encounter with Truth, but we stay in this idea, in this theory.

This learning about oneself is not something that fascinates, it is not something that enchants us. While, in fact, what we need in life is not more theories, philosophies, beliefs, concepts or ideas. What we, in fact, need in life is to have an approach of ourselves for a direct comprehension of the truth about who we are. Then, yes, we come across our reactions.

Observe that actions are not actions that are only producing consequences. Observe that our actions are actions that are oriented by the model of thought; naturally, they are actions that are born from the past. Yes, they are reactive actions. Thus, we are not before free actions that are attending to this moment in an intelligent way. When you say: 'I do not have good karma,' what exactly does this mean? Who is this 'I'? Just as what is this karma to which you refer?

The word that we borrowed from some language has, for each one of us, a certain meaning, and we use the word with this freedom of that we in fact comprehend the meaning of that. But what is the meaning of the word 'karma'? The idea of action, the concept of action is a model of thought that we have about that. What is the reality, what is the truth of this expression, of this word?

The other question here is: Who is this 'I'? Who is this in the action? Who is this that has such a thing as good karma or bad karma? Who am I? When we affirm the presence of the person that we are, we are affirming a suggestion given by thought. It is thought that tells us who we are.

But what is the truth about you when thought has nothing to say about this? What is the Reality of this Being that is You when the word, the pronoun 'I,' is not present? Who are you? If we do not know the truth about this 'I,' how can we make affirmations about the action of this 'I'? Let us investigate with you here a bit this question of action.

Our actions are actions that, in fact, happen, but they have as a model the premeditation of thought. When you take an action, this action from this 'I' is an action that is born from thought. So, first we have the thought and then the action. The foundation of the order is thought, the plan and the execution. This is what we call action. What we have present in this action is something that comes from the past as a thought in expression.

Thus, our actions are not free actions, they are reactive actions that are born from a reaction of memory, from a model of thought. We are constantly interacting with each other from reactions. When I am dealing with you, it is from the idea about who I am in this action that I believe I need it to interact with you.

Our actions in this format are actions that do not correspond to the Reality of the moment, because they adjust themselves to a model of thought that comes from the past; thus, they are personal actions, particular, centered in this 'I,' in this model of thought that we bring from the past. Thus, our actions are egocentric actions.

When, for example, we speak of having an encounter with God, we still believe that it will be from models of actions established by us in practices so-called spiritual to attain this, that is, they are still actions that are born from a plan predetermined by the model of thought. But can thought have an approach to Divine Reality? Can the action that is born from this 'I' bring us close to that which is beyond thought, beyond reactive actions, beyond this 'I'?

Divine Reality is not within this context of possible encounter. When we address the Reality of God, we are pointing to something beyond the mind and, therefore, beyond thought, beyond our reactions and beyond this suggestion of image that we have about who we are, which is this 'I.'

Therefore, what is this finding God in the question 'How to find God'? This finding God is coming across the Reality of Life without the 'I,' without the mind, without the model of reaction or of action that comes from the past, which is the fruit of thought. This is what we need to comprehend.

You cannot have an encounter with God. Divine Reality can, yes, reveal itself, and in fact it does reveal itself when we discover that which is present here beyond thought, beyond our reactions, beyond this image established in us, which is the image of this 'I.'

So, the true encounter with Happiness, in the question 'how to find Happiness,' the true encounter with God, in the question 'how to find God,' this requires the discarding of illusion, this requires the discarding of the model of thought, because thought is the establishment of the illusion of an identity that sees itself present, which is the 'I,' taking actions that, in truth, are reactions because they are born from thought itself.

As thought in us is the structure of an image or of an imagination that thought itself establishes as being real, we are dealing with something false. The Reality of the moment is the Reality of Life. There is no other Reality present in this moment that is not the Supreme Truth, the Divine Truth.

Therefore, it is not something for the future, it is not something that you find, it is Something that reveals itself when we have the foundation for this. And what is that which gives us the foundation for the Truth of this encounter with God, of this encounter with Happiness? The foundation is to know oneself. The truth about the 'I' is the comprehension of an image that thought has established in you about who you are.

When I ask your name, you tell me your name; when I ask your address, you give me your address; when I ask you about your history, you describe events. Notice, all of this is the past. Your address is knowledge, which is the past, your name also, and your history also, but this is not you. What is the Reality about you? You do not have it based on thought. You will never have the truth about you in thought.

Therefore, comprehending Reality is going beyond thought. It is when you have the Truth about Life. It, the Truth about Life, is the Truth about You. There is no separation between you and Life, but between your history and Life we have a distance; this distance, established in time, is established in thought.

Thought is in time, it is the portrait of the past, it is the portrait of images established in memory, and memory in your brain is remembrance, it is what has already been, while the Reality here and now is the Truth of Life, and the Truth of Life is Real Happiness, it is the true encounter with God.

God is the Reality of the moment when illusion is not, and illusion is a model of the past, it is a model of thought, it is a model of memory seeking to establish itself now as being real. So, what we have as an illusion is the past seeking to establish itself in this instant as being true, while there is no such thing as a past here, what we have here is only a recollection, a remembrance.

Notice that this is how we are guiding our lives, positioning the person that 'I am,' speaking of a possibility, which is the possibility of having an encounter with God; but this 'person,' which is the 'I,' is a fiction, it is an imagination, it is an idea established here, by thought, it is a construct in this brain.

It is the brain that establishes memory, and in this set of remembrances, thought places an imaginary entity, which is the 'I.' What we have present in this moment is Life. Life is what happens; what happens is action. Here, the word 'karma' for the person is the idea of someone in action. While, in life, what we have is the presence of what occurs, it is the presence of what happens, but there is no someone.

There is no entity present in life as it happens, but thought has established in us the idea of someone who sees themselves present. I say it again: This someone is a set of memories, of remembrances, of reactions responses from the past, which are these recollections. This is your name, this is your history, this is your age, this is your body, but the question continues: Who are you?

When do you become aware of the body? When do you become aware of the name, of the address and of the history? Isn't it when thought arises? When there is no thought, we do not have the presence of the body nor of history, nor of name, nor of age. When we do not have the presence of thought, we do not have the presence of memory. Without memory, there is no age, there is no history, there is no past, there is no body, there is no mind, there is no world.

It is thought that makes you remember that you have two hands, a pair of eyes. Observe that before this utterance, when we used here the expression 'a pair of eyes,' you had no idea of eyes. The idea arises when thought arises, then you become aware that you have a pair of eyes, that you have a pair of hands, that you have a body.

There is a Reality here present and this Reality is the Reality of this Being, this is the Truth of God, this Truth of Happiness, this is the Truth of Life. This reveals itself when you learn about yourself. Learning about yourself is discarding the illusion of this 'me' in this comprehension of the Reality of the moment, without the past, without memory, without thought. This is learning about Self-Awareness.

In this learning about oneself, it becomes clear that when we direct ourselves toward the investigation of the 'I,' of the nature of ourselves, something reveals itself beyond this 'me,' beyond this 'I.' When you go toward the answer to the question 'Who am I?,' it becomes clear that this 'I' is not. There is Something revealing itself beyond this set of memories, of remembrances, of recollections, beyond this 'I,' which is an image that thought has established there as being you.

We have this revelation when the awareness of Meditation becomes present. Meditation is this encounter with Life without someone. There is no one for Meditation, there is Meditation, which is the investigation of the nature of this someone. The investigation of the nature of this someone is the discarding of this 'I.' So, life as it is shows itself, and in it there is no 'person,' the 'me.'

There is not this someone for actions or reactions. There is not this someone for this idea of action, as, in general, people use the expression 'karma' for good or bad actions. What we have present is the action of Life, and in it is this divine action. How to have this encounter with God? By becoming aware of the reality of the 'not I,' of the 'not person,' of this 'not me.'

The Truth present is Life. Life present is Happiness, and Happiness is God. It is not happiness for the 'I.' When we use the expression 'happiness' we identify this expression with external achievements, of fulfillment, of completeness, of satisfaction, of personal fulfillment. Happiness, as Life or Truth, is not personal. Reality is not for the person; God is the Reality, and That is present when there is no more illusion.

Therefore, to know yourself, to comprehend yourself is to assume the Truth of That Which You are, not of that which thought says you are, when people believe that you are, who they believe you are for them. It is the Reality that You are, not in their belief, not in the belief that you have about yourself, since all belief is the presence of thought, it is a suggestion given by memory, by the past, by remembrances of experiences through which he went through with you, she went through with you, or you had with yourself, but this is only thought. It is not the portrait of Reality about You; it is what thought tells you about what you lived, it is what thought says to these people about who you are.

There is a Reality present; it is not in the field of ideas, of recollections, of remembrances, of memories. Learning about yourself is having the Revelation of Life, it is having the Awareness of your Being, this is Happiness, this is the comprehension of God. To comprehend God is to Be. Being is God. This is Love, this is Peace, Freedom, Happiness.

Discovering the truth about yourself, assuming the Reality of Life is assuming non-duality, non-separation, the Truth that is present here when thought is no longer. Thought in us is the element that separates, that divides; therefore, it is the element that sustains and feeds conflicts, problems. All kinds of disorder and confusion in your life is in the particular life, where what is predominating is the presence of the past, which is memory.

You do not have any problem with regard to what will be; your problem, in thought, is with regard to what may happen for this 'I,' for this 'me.' When we do not have the presence of this 'I,' of this 'me,' thought loses its relevance; and if it loses relevance, there is no past, present and future.

We are not dealing with problems in the future, we are dealing with the model of thought that carries problems. As these thoughts come from the past, they can project themselves into the future, but to a future that is within the very model of thought. We do not have any awareness of the future; however, thought projects tomorrow and we are living in this pattern of model of thought, which is thought that establishes us in a pattern of time created by it. So, we are living either in the past or in the future.

This past and future is the past of thought itself. Free from thought, we are free from time. There is no such thing as the future when time is no longer present. There is no such thing as the past when time is no longer present, and time disappears when thought is not. Then, Happiness reveals itself here and now, in this Natural State of Being. This is the Real encounter with God. But, observe: There is no one having this encounter with God; this encounter with God is the Revelation of God to this body and this mind.

When the mind is free from the past, it is free from thought, because it is free from time, then God reveals itself. When God reveals Himself, the Reality that is You is Divine Reality, it is the Reality of Happiness. This Presence of Being is Meditation. Therefore, what we have as a foundation for a true approach to life is not an identity that directs itself toward the future, but it is the end of the illusion of an identity that is showing itself here in the moment because it is coming from the past.

Therefore, the comprehension of oneself is the end of this 'me.' When there is this comprehension, God is present. God is the Reality present assuming this space that is His in this instant, in this moment, in this body, in this mind. This is what we are here with you investigating, exploring.

Therefore, forget this idea of good karma or bad karma, forget this idea of past and future, of a past from which you have to free yourself and of a future that you need to reach. Reality is present here when we learn to look at this instant. The quality of this looking discards this background, which is the past, discards this future, which is imagination. The end of this past is the end of this future, it is the Awareness of Life, it is the Awareness of God.

Working this directly requires discovering how to look, how to listen, how to perceive our reactions, discarding the importance and value that we have given to this pattern, to this format, to this model of thought, of conditioned mind that we have. Then, the end of the past is the end of the future, it is the end of the idea of someone to get there, to obtain, to reach. Then, the Totality of the moment is the Truth of this instant, it is the Beauty of Love, it is the Beauty of God.

This is what we are together here, with you, working on, in these weekends. It is two days together: Saturday and Sunday. I want to leave an invitation here for you to work on this. It is two days in an online format. You have here, in the video description, our WhatsApp link for these online meetings. Besides these meetings, we have in-person meetings and also retreats.
