Learning about Self-awareness | How to deal with fear? | Real Meditation | What thought is

The way I see it, the main element here, for all of us, must necessarily be a heart-to-heart encounter, which requires the presence of a possible communion. In general, we do not know how to have this level of approaching when interacting with people.

I want to explore some issues with you here. One of these issues also involves this issue of communion. Note that your contact with people is not free contact, but it is a contact, in general, committed to ideas, committed to beliefs, to concepts that you have about him or her, or about what is happening in the world or in life. And in this contact, in this relationship with him or her, there is always a divergence of ideas, opinions, and conclusions. So, we are very inclined to live like that.

Here with you I want to touch on the beauty of this encounter with new learning, which is learning about ourselves. There is nothing more important in life than the awareness of life itself. This awareness requires learning about Self– awareness, because only when you know yourself, understand yourself, can you truly situate yourself in life within an encounter with the world around you in this state of communion.

Communion is the fundamental element in Peace, Freedom, cooperation, and the presence of Love. If there is the Truth of Love present, there is communion. In this communion, there is the presence of compassion, of cooperation. Here with you we are working on this truth of understanding who we are. So, learning about ourselves is fundamental.

In general, our contact with the world around us, the contact with him or her, is the contact within this old affirmation of separation. If there is this separation, there is no such encounter; if there is no such encounter, there is no communion. The world is in conflict, people are unhappy and living within a conflictual relationship with each other. And why does this happen? Because we are, internally, distant from each other, and all this attempt to unite people has not worked, all this talk about loving our neighbor or living in harmony with him or her has not worked.

We have many problems in life and they are countless, but they have a common basis, and I want to address this here with you. What is the common basis of all these problems that we have, including in our relationships, in the lack of this communion and, therefore, this cooperation, this compassion, this intelligent freedom to deal with the other? Who is it that has sustained all of this? Ignorance, the illusion about ourselves, about how we function.

So, I want to talk to you here about the end of fear. You see, I have come here with you countless times touching on this issue of fear, but our emphasis here is different from the emphasis that people want to get involved or want to have regarding this issue of fear: they want to get rid of fear. Here, we are becoming aware of what the end of fear means. It is not about someone getting rid of fear, it is about freedom from fear occurring with the end of fear. It is not about someone getting rid of fear, but it is the vision of what fear means, what fear represents. It is not fear for someone, but what someone, in fear, means.

So, what is fear? How can we really see the end of fear? So, the question is: how to deal with fear? Note that we have different forms of fear. I don't know exactly which one you are interested in studying here, which fear you want to address or would like to see being discussed here, but whatever form of fear you would like to investigate, all forms of fear, the only difference between them is the objects or the way they are expressed. But fear itself is fear, there is only fear.

The different forms of fear, in the plural, are diverse in relation to people, situations, events and objects. This is the difference in the variation of fears, but fear is one. So, here, the question is: How to deal with fear? To have a direct approach to this subject, we must first ask what thought is. And why? Because thought is the element within you that, when present, speaks to you of fear. There is no fear without the possibility of thought.

If you are walking down a street and a car is coming towards you, at that moment you have no time to be afraid. You move away, you get out of the way. You are in a moment of danger, but it is a moment in which there is no interval between that possible accident and you. So, at that moment there is no room for fear, but rather for a movement of self-protection, something instinctive, of self-preservation. This fear or fright is not fear, it is an intelligent action of escape, of fleeing from that accident, that danger.

Human beings have suffered for millennia from various forms of fear, but it is fear where thought is present. For example, the fear of death. You can only be afraid of death if you have a thought about death, about the afterlife, about what can happen during death or at the moment of death, but it is thought that is producing this. Without thoughts about death, there is no fear of death.

You cannot be afraid of getting old without images of thoughts about old age, the fear of getting sick without images of thoughts about illness. You cannot be afraid of a person without the memory of them. Notice how simple and tremendously fascinating it is to understand that everything in us is linked to thought. Thought guides our lives as people, how we see ourselves, how we feel about ourselves.

So, our big problem is not how to deal with fear, but rather how to deal with thought, because thought is the basis of fear, it is the cause of fear, it is the sustenance of fear. It is the cause because it is the image, it is the cause because it is the factor without which there is no fear. So, here, we can learn how to deal with thought and, therefore, with fear.

Notice how fascinating this clear understanding of all this is. It is not just about fear, it is about the pain of rejection. When do you feel rejected by someone? When you remember that person. The anger at someone. When do you feel angry at someone? When memory is there, creating a condition of suffering in fear, anger, rejection…

Thought element guides our psychological condition of existence, so we have to investigate the nature of thought, the structure of thought and how to remain without it. Yes, that's right: how to remain without thought. Is there a possibility, in life, of life happening, but in such a way that a response to that moment is possible, but not based on this psychological condition that we know, which is of life guided by thought?

So, this approach we have here, this way we have of approaching all of this is something that gives you the basis for a free, happy, peaceful and, therefore, harmonious life, with a real possibility of communion with others, with life, with what happens, without fear, without this feeling of rejection, without this feeling of anger. Here, we use three examples, but there are countless, all linked to the presence of thought in each one of us.

So, what is this learning about Self-awareness? It is verifying how you function, how thought creates representations within you of how life should be, or could be, or should have been. Everything here that we present to you involves the importance of a life without suffering, free, peaceful, happy, and this requires the absence of the ego, the absence of the “I.”

So, how to deal with fear? Discovering how to dispense with the movement of memory, because, you see, at this moment, there is no need for any mental image about the future. The mental image of the future is the continuation of the present movement of unconsciousness with regard to life as it happens at this moment. Therefore, all these present forms of suffering, disorder, confusion and problems, all these are things arising within each of us and being sustained by this non-observation of our reactions.

Looking at a thought and allowing it to complete itself… Look, listen to this: allowing it to complete itself, we don’t do that. We don’t do it because when a thought arises, you immediately become confused with thought, because behind this movement of becoming confused with thought there is the belief that this thought is real when it appears. It is not real, it is just a representation that is coming from the past, from a memory that has not been completed. So, this memory comes, this thought arises and when it arises, immediately, you immediately identify with thought. At that moment, you lose yourself by being the observer separate from thought, the thinker in thought.

So, the observer is like this element that is observing thought as someone separate from it. This thinker is like the element that is separating itself from thought, but it is this element that is producing thought. So, when the thinker is present, the observer is present, the observer observing thought as an element separate from it and the thinker as an element that is producing this thought. So, this is real, it is very real.

This movement that we have just described to you is nothing other than the movement of the ego, of this sense of being a person that you have, that you carry. What are we proposing to you here? Observe, just observe this movement, be aware of it when it arises. Becoming aware of it is to not separate yourself from it to be the observer, to be the thinker – to be the thinker when thought arises, the observer when the image arises, the one who feels when the feeling arises. So, at this moment, you are in this learning about yourself.

So, what is learning this Self-awareness? It is discovering how to bring this Attention to this moment to be aware of your reactions, without getting confused with them. So, when a thought arises of fear, it is seen, of sadness, it is seen, of worry, it is seen, but it is seen without this observer, it is seen without this thinker.

Here we have just shown you how to approach this Self-awareness. This is what gives you the basis for Meditation. And what is this Meditation? It is allowing what is present to present itself without an element that is involved with it, and what is present is nothing other than something that came from the past in this format of image, thought, memory, remembrance.

You may ask: “But how is this issue of Meditation, as you place it?” Meditation is this, it is being aware of your reactions, without getting involved with them, in that moment; allowing it to show itself, present itself, be seen and complete itself. Because when a thought arises, it is only an apparition that can be seen without the observer, and this belief that someone, who is the thinker, is producing that, is not real.

There is no thinker producing thoughts, just as there is no observer to see the image that emerges. This image is something that comes from the past, and this thought is something that comes from the past; this past is only the record of the memory within you. There is no one producing it, there is no thinker producing it, there is no observer producing it.

Notice the beauty of following this. Allowing this to emerge and not find continuity, which is this “I,” this ego, means to not feed it anymore in this observer, in this thinker, in this element also involved in feeling. All of this is part of this sense of “I,” of this element that separates itself. Thus, we are nullifying this sense of “I.” So, at this moment, the awareness of the Truth of your own Being is taking place. This is the end of fear, this is the end of suffering, this is the end of the “I,” this is the end of the ego.

So, when there is an approach to the Truth of Meditation, there is the Revelation of the Reality of your Being. So, this is the subject that we are working on here with you on this channel and in these online meetings on the weekends. On Saturday and Sunday, we are together, deepening this with you. Here in the video description, you have our WhatsApp link to participate in these online meetings on the weekends.

In addition, we have in-person meetings and also retreats. If this is something that makes sense to you, leave your “like” here, subscribe to the channel and leave a comment saying: “Yes, that makes sense.” Ok? And we’ll see each other. Thanks for the meeting and see you soon!

Learning about Self-Awareness | What is Mindfulness | Spiritual Intelligence

In life, we are constantly in contact with experiences. Our senses – these physical senses within us – are present all the time and are always in contact. These contacts are experiences. They are situations that occur, situations that happen, as well as perceptions that appear at every moment. And we underestimate the importance of this in life. What is the importance of this, of this contact we have, at every moment, with experiences?

Note, every moment is a new moment. When you get in your car in the morning and go to work, you pass by some places and you don’t perceive that you are always facing something new, a new experience, every moment while you are driving your car – just like at home before you leave for work; the contact with your wife, with your family, with a cup of tea or coffee… Everything in life is an experience arising here and now, at this instant. But when we come across these experiences, we are generally internally absorbed by thoughts, feelings, emotions, some present, subjective element that comes from the past. So, we don’t perceive what is present in the moment, when the experience is there.

When, for example, you leave your house walking, you pass by houses, trees, children playing on the street… but you are, internally, too absorbed by your internal reactions, mistaking yourself for them, identifying with them. And you are not aware of this totality of the experience because you are psychologically trapped in the model of the mind, of the programmed mind, of the conditioned mind, of the mind that is unaware of its own movement. Here, with you, we are working on the Awakening of Divine Intelligence, the Awakening of Spiritual Intelligence. We are working with you on this Realization of your Being, the Awareness of life free from this conditioning, free from this format of psychological subjectivity, where we are trapped in the psychological model of existence, which is the existence of the “I,” which is the egoic existence.

I want to touch on this topic of the Awakening of Intelligence, on this issue of learning about ourselves, of learning about Self-Awareness, the importance of comprehension of what is Mindfulness. To bring it to this moment, in a relaxed, easygoing way, but with a singular and profound interest in observing, perceiving, being aware of oneself, at this moment – both of what is happening internally and externally. Having this approach is attention. There is something present that reveals itself in this attention and this something present is the absence of the conditioned mind.

And how does this conditioned mind work? It is the mind that is, as it has been said, involved in its own self-centering, in its reasons, motives, intentions, thoughts, memories, recollections. This is how we situate ourselves as an entity present in time, seeing ourselves as someone in space. In time, why? Because we are stuck in the reference of yesterday or in the imagination of tomorrow. This is how we function psychologically, stuck in this identity of the “I,” in this egoic identity, in this subjective way of being absorbed in our egoic world, in our mental world.

Let us comprehend here, the importance of this because all these internal states of emotional disorder, of feeling, of thought, and these various problems we have in our lives, lie in this way of happening, where we are not aware of the Truth about ourselves, we are not aware of the Truth about life happening, about everything around us. Because we are trapped within this ego circuit, this circuit of self-centeredness. So, there is no such attention to the totality of life; since there is no such attention, this consciousness in us is the consciousness circumscribed to the ego model.

This is how we are constantly producing suffering for the world around us, because we are alienated from life as it is, we are trapped in life as thought has constructed it. My contact with the other is not real because I am not before the other, I am before a thought that I have about them, an imagination that I carry about them, a hope of achieving, from this or that person, something that this “I,” this “me,” idealizes. Thus, our relationships are egocentric because we do not know what it is to be in contact with the present moment, with this experience, without this “I.”

So, notice, there are two ways, the first is the one we know and it is in this way that we are living, in an inattentive, subjective way, centered on the own “I,” in a mistaken relationship with the present moment, with the experience – this is because we have, in this way, in this manner, the presence of an experiencer, which is this element that is trying to extract something for itself from this moment – or we have a new contact with the present moment that is the contact free of the “I,” free of the ego, free of this self-centering, of this subjectivity. This requires the presence of this attention.

Once you pay attention to your inner reactions and to whatever is arising or appearing in this given moment externally, a look free from this observer, this experiencer, this self-centeredness, is a look free from the “I.” Then, we have the presence of a contact with life at this moment, without the past. And when the past is not present — since the past is thought, image, memory, the mental representation that the “I,” the ego, this experiencer makes use of — once we are free from that, we are in a contact with the moment, with life as it is, without the past. And without the past, we have no future; that is how we eliminate from our life this notion of the continuity of the “I,” of the continuity of time.

So, here, it becomes important for you to get closer to yourself, studying what is happening to you. The truth of this learning about Self-Awareness requires looking at this moment without the past. Note that it is very simple, a little attention to this moment will show you how simple it is. The thing is that we live in an inattentive way, unaware of these reactions that occur within us, but it is something very simple. When you look at a tree, at a bird while you walk, at some children playing on the sidewalk, you just look. To put this attention to this moment of looking, without sustaining any thought in this look... just look!

So, notice, it is not complicated to pay attention to this moment, to look at or observe what is external. When you hear a sound, be it a bird singing – which is much simpler, just listen to that sound – but if it is human speech, just listen to the speech without adding an element that agrees or disagrees with the speech. In this way, we eliminate this thinker and this experiencer. Then, this attention to the external aspects of the experience is not at all complicated. It is that we spend our days without paying attention to ourselves and also to what is happening externally, because, as it has been said, we are always absorbed by this subjective model of the “I,” of the ego.

This attention to the external is simple. Here, everything becomes complicated when we need to become aware of our internal reactions, when we are before psychological challenges. When, for example, someone praises or criticizes you, listening to this criticism or praise, without this internal element that engages with its ideas about it, is not so simple. If someone praises you, at that moment an internal element arises to receive this praise. Here we are inviting you to pay attention to this reaction. The very attention to this reaction is the discarding of this element, so you listen completely to the other person's speech bringing the praise. But, once this attention is present, this look is present, this awareness of this reaction, here at this present moment, this makes it possible to eliminate the “I,” the ego… This element that feels special when it is praised or that can feel frustrated, angry, disappointed when it is criticized.

Here, we are inviting you to become aware of your reactions in order to decondition this program that is running within you, which is the program of the “I,” of the ego, of this psychological subjectivity of the egoic mind. This is how we get rid of this personal consciousness, this consciousness of the “I.” It is this consciousness that is sustaining in you – due to this lack of attention to your reactions – it is this consciousness of the “I,” it is this model of existence of egoic identity that is sustaining, in you, these various states of suffering. Living this way is living without Real Intelligence, Presence, Consciousness.

Here, Real Consciousness is the awareness of Divine Nature, it is the absence of this sense of the “I,” of the ego. We have been living for millennia as people within this ego-identity, within this model of being someone, trapped in this self-centeredness, within this circuit of psychological subjectivity, which is this mental conditioning, which is this conditioning of egoic existence. Here, with you, we are working on, in this channel – also on online meetings and in face-to-face meetings – on ending this illusion, the illusion of the ego, the illusion of the “I.” This requires the presence of this attention on your reactions. So, when we approach this learning about ourselves, this learning about Self-Awareness, we have the answer to the Truth of what is mindfulness. And, of course, we have access to the blossoming of this Intelligence.

Notice the importance of this. Without this foundation, we do not have the possibility of a life in Wisdom where we have the Real Presence of Freedom, the Real Presence of Happiness, the Real Presence of Love. Here we are with you, step by step, investigating this, showing you that the condition of identity of the “I,” of egoic identity, is one of separation, of isolationism, of support, in this egoic subjectivity, of an alienation from this moment. Because our contact with the present moment, our contact with experience, is from the experiencer; whereas, when the awareness of Truth reveals itself, which is the Truth of your Being, this moment is a moment of experiencing life as it happens… but it is only experiencing without the experiencer. This is when all experiences are no longer experiences for this experiencer, everything is now part of an experience that occurs moment by moment, without the “I.”

Thus, we are free from the time that thought records, in itself, experiences in order to maintain its continuity, with thought itself being the element that constructs the experiencer, the thinker that constructs the “I.” Here, we are showing you how, in this life, to realize the life free from the ego. This is what some call an “Awakening of Spiritual Consciousness” or “Spiritual Enlightenment.” A life free from this psychological time pattern, of separation from life as it happens. It is the life where Truth is present. So, in this contact with him or her, in this contact with this or that, whatever is happening externally or appearing internally is seen, without this separation, without this element that is the “I,” which separates itself to produce conflicts and problems.

The beauty of this encounter with the Reality of life as it is, is the end of suffering, confusion, and problems. In these online meetings we are holding here, on the weekends, Saturdays, and Sundays, we are working on this with you. It is an opportunity for us to be together. So, I want to leave you this invitation: we will have online meetings on Saturday and Sunday. Here, in the video description, you will find our WhatsApp link to participate in these meetings. Learning about Self-Awareness | What is Mindfulness? | Spiritual intelligence Awakening

After all, what do we really need for a comprehension of life? And why do we need this comprehension of life? Because we are in life for this comprehension; without it, our psychological condition will determine the quality of life alienated from this intelligent vision, this free, enlightened vision, this truth about life, and this will inevitably mean, as it has already been demonstrated and is being demonstrated in the lives of the majority of humanity, as life in suffering, with problems.

Thus, we are living in ignorance, and to live in ignorance is to live alienated from the Truth, from the beauty of life. We weren't taught, shown, when we were a child, this possibility of a Real Life, of a happy, free, loving life, full of beauty, where an indescribable quality of life is present, because all the contact we've had with life until today, since childhood, is the contact of the ordinary life, common to all because of this consciousness we have, which is the consciousness common to all.

Let's open this up a little here with you, about the truth of this consciousness, which is the consciousness common to all. When you're born in a certain country, you learn everything from that culture: cultural thinking, behavior, social tradition, family tradition.

So, we receive various forms of teaching; these various formations we receive from childhood, from the earliest age to adulthood, what we have present in all of this are ways of thinking that are given to us. This is what we have shown you here as the element that grounds this complicated, disoriented life, alienated from Divine Life, alienated from Real Life, which is this psychological conditioning.

We are educated for life within a mental conditioning. This conditioning, as we have already seen, is known in psychology. Our psychological model of feeling, thinking and acting is all, in principle, based on this. So our conditioning is human, and this has given us a particular consciousness of a conditioned human culture.

Thus, what we call consciousness is a way of dealing with experiences based on the model of thought that has been given to us socially, politically, philosophically and religiously. This is how we are functioning, this is how we have been functioning. In addition to all this conditioning, we have a form of programmed action, of reaction and of conditioning of the “I.”

What is this “I”? It's this feeling-thought of being someone, how we've been brought up to feel this way, to live this way, to see ourselves this way. So, we're seeing ourselves this way, feeling this way and living this way. This is our personal consciousness. Which, in reality, is not a real individual consciousness, but the consciousness of humanity. We think, feel and act like the world around us.

The comprehension of the truth about oneself requires learning about Self-Awareness. It is this learning about ourselves that brings us closer to becoming aware of all that has been put to us here. Notice, all of this has been put into words, but it's not that simple because we can't just stay in another confident belief about it. We need to have a direct awareness of what has been put here, and this occurs as you learn about yourself.

So, learning about learning about yourself – we know nothing about it. We are formed, educated in the world for secular life, for life in the world. Secular life, life in the world is studying in childhood, growing up studying, acquiring an education, a profession, a professional occupation, earning money with it, starting a family and maintaining the continuity of life in this social structure, this human structure, this structure in the world. Earning money, having a nice house, a nice car, raising children, then grandchildren, old age, illness and death, or death before old age: this is life as we know it, this is the life of humanity and culture proposal for us.

Here we are with you investigating the nature of the Truth about who we are, seeing with clarity this conditioned, programmed model, structured for millennia, something that has been offered to us or sold to us and that we are receiving for free or buying, and living just like those who arrived here before us, in ignorance. Here, I am referring to ignorance about the Truth of Life, the Totality, the beauty of Life, the uniqueness of Life, where we have present something we don't know. The truth about this is that we don't even have a reference to what we're talking about here.

Here, for example, when I use expressions like the “Presence of Love,” the “Presence of Happiness,” the “Presence of Freedom, of Peace, of the Awareness of God,” our brains, because of the conditioning we receive from culture, interpret all of this and put it into the same old form. Expressions like love, peace, happiness, God, are all linked to human cultural standards. However, here we are saying something else, making use of expressions that we know, that are within the known of thought, but we are pointing to something beyond thought, beyond the known.

When we use the expression “God,” we are pointing to Something unnameable, indescribable. Happiness: we don't know what that is. We don't know Love, we don't know Peace. Human beings have been on the planet for millennia – our human structure of existence as human beings. Note, thousands of years and we've never known the Truth about Peace, we've never had Peace.

Love is something strange. What we have in relationships, in the best possible way, when we enter into agreements, is mutual satisfaction, it's pleasure, it's acceptance, it's the exchange of pleasant feelings, pleasant emotions, physical sensations, such as sexual pleasure, and other forms of contact in human relationships. Notice, this is what we call love. But when this is shaken in any way, a feeling of anger, contrariness, or rebellion arises.

We live as human creatures within this consciousness of the “I,” this consciousness of the person, because that's how we see ourselves: as a person, as someone present in life. This consciousness is a consciousness that lives in disorder, in confusion, in various complications, in various sufferings. So, it is present in the human being within this structure, which is the structure of ignorance, where we have this life, which is the life we know, we have fear, anger, envy, jealousy, possession, attachment, desire.

Notice, what is desire? When there is dissatisfaction, when there is projection onto an ideal of pleasure, something that thought creates, this search for that pleasure or satisfaction in that kind of fulfillment, that’s desire. This has created all kinds of confusion in the world because these desires in the human being, in this consciousness that we know, which is the consciousness of the “I,” of the ego, are contradictory. This is just one example.

You desire something, more intellectually, note, at the level of feeling, emotion and the search for sensation, the desire is present, but at the intellectual level it's clear to you that it will produce confusion in life and yet the desire is present here, this craving, this search for fulfillment, for the satisfaction of desire. Then, our desires are contradictory, there is a contradiction between feeling, thinking and action.

So, human beings have lived on the planet for millennia, but they don't know Love, they don't know Peace, they don't know Freedom. I'm referring, as has been said, to Real Freedom, Real Peace, Real Love, Real Happiness, the Real Truth of God. We have organized religions, many of them: what is the truth of a truly Religious Life, of a Divine Life?

This Life we're talking about here, the Real Life, is the Divine Life, it's the Life of God, it's the true Religious Life, but in it we have the absence of the ego, the absence of the “I” and, therefore, the absence of all these disputes, all these conflicts. We live in confusion, in different divergences, including different beliefs, different doctrines, different opinions, so there are religious conflicts, as well as political conflicts, conflicts between families, conflicts between cities, nations, all of this is present in this confusion.

Here we are focusing with you on the beauty of this encounter with an Attention on oneself, an Attention on these reactions and on what is happening in the world. One of the topics discussed here involves this issue of Spiritual Intelligence Awakening and learning about Self-Awareness. These are two playlists, and we have a third playlist here that also involves this subject, which is the importance of Full Attention. Becoming aware of your reactions, so aware of everything that is happening in the world. Just look, observe, and it becomes clear, you can see the truth of it all.

The interesting thing is that in this Real Mindfulness, the Truth of Mindfulness, about what Mindfulness is, when that becomes clear, your way of looking, of listening, of feeling, of experiencing the present moment is something outside the “I,” outside the ego. People use the expression, but they don't understand what it is to be attentive without judging, comparing, evaluating, without being involved in this pattern of conditioning and egocentric behavior.

This beauty of looking free of the past brings you this clarity, it brings you this Intelligence, it brings you this real vision of life, the presence of this look at this moment, at whatever is arising at this moment, without putting that element, which is the “I,” that element that comes from the past to judge, compare, reject or mistake yourself by accepting, submitting, getting into the game. Here we are talking about a look free of this background. The presence of this look, notice, doesn't require any effort, it requires exactly having a free approach, right from the start, to any and all experiences at that moment, whether external or internal.

To go deeper into this subject of what Mindfulness is, we have this playlist here. We are working with you here on the Awakening of a new Consciousness and, therefore, of the Real vision of Life, no longer this life of the ego, this life of the “I,” this life of human conditioning, but this Divine Life. You were born to Realize God in this life, this is what some call the Spiritual Awakening or Spiritual Enlightenment.

Thus, we're working on these issues with you in this channel. We have online meetings on weekends. On Saturdays and Sundays, we're working together, investigating all of this. You can find our WhatsApp link in the video description to participate in these online meetings on weekends. And you who have been watching these videos, this is a direct way for us to support the channel, so please subscribe. Joel Goldsmith | Living Now | What is Time? | Thought Creates Time | Master Gualberto

GC: Hello, everyone! We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto is here with us. Thank you, Master, for another videocast. Today, I’m going to read an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith’s book called “Living Now.” In an excerpt from this book, Master, Joel makes the following comment: “Now, in the present, lies the substance of that which unfolds for us as ‘time.’” Regarding this subject of time… can the Master share his vision of what time is?

MG: Gilson, time is a very simple thing. Tomorrow, at three in the afternoon, you have an appointment; this tomorrow concerns an event in the future. And what do you call, here, “future”? And what do you call “tomorrow” here? When you wake up the next day, you are in tomorrow, you are in the future. When it is three o'clock in the afternoon, you have an appointment. This is the future, this is tomorrow! So, we have the future, the chronological tomorrow. Time is a notion that we assume because of the presence of the chronometer, of the clock. So, what we call time is this! We have the chronological future, just as we have the past that occurred, from a chronological point of view.

That is time! That is the only time that we truly have access to, from the point of view of the clock, from a chronological point of view. Chronological time... We know what chronological time is. Between sunrise and sunset, we have chronological time. That is the only time that, by the clock, chronologically, we can measure, but we have another type of time, which is part of imagination of thought. For example, if I say to you: “There is an elephant right now here in your living room.” You are watching this speech, watching this video, comfortably seated on the couch, and I say: “There is an elephant here in your living room.” You look at me and say: “No, there is no elephant. There is only speech here, there is only this video here. You are lying to me.” And I keep saying that there is an elephant in your room, and you even doubt it and look again, notice it and say: “No, there is no elephant here, you are lying to me.”

So, you see, for us time is something like this. If I tell you about a future, you can believe in that future, but I am just creating, also, an imagination. There is no such thing as the future that thought proposes, just as there is no elephant in your room. Now, notice how curious it is: we believe in the psychological tomorrow, but there is no psychological tomorrow; in the psychological yesterday, but there is no psychological yesterday. So, there is no psychological past or psychological future. This is a proposal that thought says it exists. Thus, thought has created a time that is not real, just as my speech here just now spoke of an elephant that does not exist. However, we believe in this psychological time, but we do not believe in this elephant.

So, see: what is time? Time is a creation of thought, thought creates time.

When it, for example, says: Tomorrow I will be happy,” “tomorrow I will have peace,” “tomorrow I will find my true love,” “tomorrow I will find my fulfillment,” “my dreams will come true tomorrow,” you see, thought is proposing something to you and you are trusting what thought is telling you. It is telling you about a time to be happy, to find love, to find fulfillment, to find your dream. It says that this time is tomorrow, it is the future, and you believe it. This is how we are moving in the world, in this model of psychological time.

When you are, for example, sad because of something that happened to you, you see, it is a proposal of thought. It is telling you that someone offended you, someone hurt you, someone wounded you, and at that moment, you are sad because of the memory of those words that you received. Notice, thought is constructing a past and placing that past here, at this moment, for someone. See, there is no such thing as “someone.” All of this is just a memory, a recollection, for a character, which is just an image that thought itself constructs at this moment and brings elements of feeling to sadden that image. So, when you say: “I am sad,” what we have here is a self-image that comes from the past; but what past is that? What yesterday is that?

We are faced with what thought is constructing as time. So, either we are psychologically in this self-image, which is the “I,” the ego, in the past, or in the future, living all the dramas that thought constructs due to this model of time. Hope is of the future, frustration is of the past. The hurt, the resentment is from the past, the search for fulfillment and satisfaction is from the future. Thus, we are involved, Gilson, in this psychological project called “time.” There is no such thing as time. It is just a movement of thought, sustaining the illusion of a present identity, which is this self-image.

Can we break with time? To do so, we need to break with this self-image. When we break with the ego, which is this self-image, we break with time. We can only free ourselves from the ego when we free ourselves from time, because time, you see, is synonymous with thought, which is synonymous with self-image. Self-image is thought, and thought is time; this is the ego, it is the “I.”

The person as you see yourself is made up of memories, of remembrances; this is the self-image. It is something that is sustained in time, in this past of this imaginary identity. All of this, Gilson, we need to investigate and free ourselves from. Then, yes, there will be Liberation, the Liberation of the ego, of this “me,” for the Reality of life without the “I” and, therefore, without time. So, we are left with only the time of the clock, with chronological time, to attend to basic matters in this dream of human existence, but we eliminate this psychological time, because we eliminate the sense of the “I,” of the ego. So, this is the end of this model of thought as we know it.

Our entire psychological structure of life, Gilson, is based on this condition of psychological time: “I was, I am and I will be.” This is where the suffering of what happened in the past or of something that may happen in the future that “I do not want” lies. This “I” is self-image, it is this ego, it is this very movement of thought, in the idea of being here, of coming from the past and going to the future. When we break with thought, we break with time, we break with the “I,” we break with the ego. So, there is no such thing as time, unless this movement of thought – sustaining the illusion of this ego-identity – continues to sustain itself in this maintenance, in this continuity of its own movement. To break with this is to assume the Divine Truth, it is to assume the Truth of That which is you in your Being, which is not in time, which is not part of the model of thought, of this conditioning.

GC: Master, we have a question from a subscriber here on the channel. Adriana makes the following comment and asks: “Since I have schizophrenia, staying in the present moment is very complicated for me. Even when I try to stay in the present, thoughts of songs come to me most of the time. In this case, what should I do? Thank you.”

MG: Look, Gilson, there is some confusion here; in general, people have a mistaken idea. They believe they can stay in the present, but the movement of the person is the movement of thought. The idea of a person in the present, of a person here in the present, is the illusion of a person, still within time. Because what is the present for the person? It's the idea that she's here, that she came from the past and she's here now, going into the future. So, there's a big illusion about that and the big illusion is the idea of being “somebody.”

There is no “someone” to be in the present. All there is in this moment is the movement of thought. Becoming aware of this movement and breaking with this quality of movement is possible when there is this attention on this model, which is the model of thought. We have a belief, and the belief is the “I”: the “I” thinking, the “I” getting rid of thoughts… You say: “trying to stay in the present, music comes on”. Who is this element that is trying to stay in the present? See, it is always the idea of the “I,” of this “someone.”

We can approach looking at these reactions, just looking without reacting, without fighting, without trying to defend or protect ourselves, without any attempt to do something with what arises. That is what we are trying to show you here. There is a way to approach this moment without this sense of the “I,” of this “someone.” So, it does not matter if a thought arises, a feeling arises, an emotion appears, a song starts playing. A look at this movement, which is a movement of memory, something that comes from the past and that the brain is processing – just a look at this reaction can break this model. Because that is how the movement of the mind works. What we call “mind” is a movement of memory. Once a stimulus arises, whether it is internal or external, happening inside or outside, there will be a response of memory reaction, and this response comes in the form of thought, memory, recollection, of music playing. Bringing attention to this moment means looking at this reaction without interfering, just looking, becoming aware of this reaction. That is what being aware is, it is looking, it is perceiving. So, you just look, but when there is this element of rejection, of choice, of liking and disliking within us, at that moment it is back the very movement of the past, the very reactive movement of this “I,” of this someone.

That is why people spend years fighting against thoughts. They do not realize that there is no separation between them and the thought they are fighting against. Because the thinker is the thought, the observer who sets out to observe thoughts is thought itself. Here we are telling you that there is a way of looking without the observer, without the thinker, without that “someone,” without that “I.” So, in life, we need this art of approaching, of learning about ourselves and how we can approach everything that goes on inside each one of us, as well as externally.

A look without the background that comes from the past, which is the “I,” the ego, the “me,” the thinker, the observer, is the real approach to this. For a long time, we have always been conditioned to react based on this “like” or “dislike,” this “making choices.” So, we appreciate good thoughts and despise bad thoughts, we choose the positive ones for ourselves and we reject the negative ones. See, this is always the movement of the “I,” the “me,” the ego, the observer, the experiencer. Having a look at yourself without this “me” in this look is what we are proposing here, for you. In these meetings, we need to work on this, work on the truth of what is present when there is this movement, which is the movement of restlessness, chatter, conflicts, problems. Discovering what it means to approach and look at all of this is to free oneself from it.

And these several frames, which psychologically the sense of “I,” of the ego represents, do not matter. Anxiety, depression, anguish, schizophrenia or any of these situations are situations that represent this movement of the “I,” of this “me,” of this ego. This is not the Reality of your Being, it is not the Reality of That which is you in your Real Nature. It is something linked to this very movement, which is the movement of thought, of this unobserved thought, of this ununderstood thought. That is why we need to study ourselves, to have an approach from this new perspective to everything that is happening here and now, both externally and internally. That is why we have these online and in-person meetings, to work on this.

GC: Master, we have another question from another subscriber on the channel. Taciana asks the following question: “Master, the movement of the ‘I’ is so subtle, how can we improve this perception in everyday life?”

MG: Look at your question. Your question is “how can we improve this perception?” See, we have a way of approaching things, in general, based on growth, evolution, progression. So, the idea is “how can we improve?” See, it’s not about improving. Here it’s about breaking the pattern. Looking directly at these reactions, at this moment, breaks the pattern. This will not improve you; it will not bring you an improvement in perception. Either there is perception or there is no perception, there is no improved, more expanded, richer, deeper perception here. Here, we are either conscious – and in this consciousness there is no longer this movement of unconsciousness – or we are not. Here, either there is perception or there is no perception – there is no expansion of this perception or an expansion of this consciousness. This is the good news.

Discovering what it is to look without the observer, this immediately breaks the old and ancient pattern. Looking at this reaction that arises, discovering what it is to look, that’s all. Discover what it means to look: to look without the observer, to look without the experiencer, to look without the element that likes or dislikes. It is to look! And as for this idea of everyday life, you see, this whole notion of time is eliminated here when there is this look. Becoming aware of reactions in this moment – it is only in this moment – this is not something for you to carry over to later, it is not something for you to practice in your daily life. It is something that you are aware of at this moment, always in this moment. You only have this moment to be aware of it, and when you are aware of it, the “I” element, the ego, this “me,” is not there. There is only observing, without the observer. There is only perceiving, without the perceiver.

The thing is that, for a long time, our involvement with the sense of “I,” of the ego, is one of continuity. So, we are not faced with something so simple. This requires a disposition to look present, here and now, something new. It requires, naturally, a new disposition, and you will often be lost again and again in inattention. See, this is usually how it happens, due to the force of habit, the addiction to remaining unaware of one's reactions, but as a work begins to happen, something new naturally emerges, always at each moment. So, something is processed, something takes place outside of the known, outside of this movement as we expect it to be, of growth, of evolution. It is natural that this State begins to assume this space, which is its space. It is natural that this Real State begins to assume this Natural State of Awareness, of Consciousness, of disidentification with this movement that is the movement of the “I,” of the “me,” of the thinker, of the observer. In these meetings we are working exactly on this with you, showing you how to have a direct approach of how this process itself at this moment. Okay?

GC: Thank you, Master, we have already finished our time. Thank you for this videocast!

And for those of you who are watching the videocast until the end and have this real desire, this sincere desire to delve deeper into experiencing these truths, I invite you to participate in the meetings that Master Gualberto offers, which are called Satsangs. These are weekend meetings, in an online format; there are also in-person retreats, lasting several days. These meetings with the Master are much more impactful and enlightening than the videos. First, because in the meetings we are able to ask the Master questions directly. And also and mainly, because in the meetings, in front of the Presence of the Master, He, by already living in this State called Awakened Consciousness, shares this Presence that He lives. And in this sharing, this sharing of this energy that the Master lives of Presence, is a Power, it is a Grace that helps us greatly to be able to understand ourselves, to be able to get a ride on this Silence of the Master. So, I invite you. In the first pinned comment there is the WhatsApp link to be able to participate in these meetings. And, Master, thank you for this videocast.

Those fundamental questions of life. What is thought? What is thinking? Spiritual Intelligence.

It is very common to have a form of approach, when we approach a given subject, with only a part of ourselves involved there, to capture that subject, to understand that subject, to become aware of that subject. In general, we only use our intellect when we set out to listen to someone.

Here in these meetings, we have a greater challenge, we need more than just intellectually listening to a speech like this, we need a contact where not only our intellect, but our heart and our entire being are involved. So, everything that we represent in this moment, that we present in this moment, that is present here, in this moment, such as looking, listening, feeling, all of this is part of this psychophysical being that is present, always, at all times, in all places, in all situations and, also, in all meetings.

And here, a meeting at this level places us in an internal disposition where we witness something new, of a presence and a characteristic that is totally unknown to most of us, which is this contact of communion. Here we are with you addressing themes and subjects that point to That which is present, but although present, we do not have access to It.

In general, we do not have access to this Reality that is present, because it is from another dimension; it is not within this dimension of the known. It is That which is outside of the known, it is not part of everything that we know as dimensions within the known. It is of another order, of a “new dimension.”

Here we are with you investigating this encounter with Divine Reality, with the Reality of your Being, with the Reality of God. The Truth about God, this is one of those fundamental questions of life. This is the expression that some use for questions that they consider essential. Here, the way I see, one of those truly fundamental questions of life consists of comprehending life, and this comprehension of life implies this learning about ourselves.

When there is this learning, we have the awareness of God, the awareness of Truth revealing itself. So, let us look at this here within this meeting. Listening to a speech like this is not just something that requires your passive presence to listen, but rather a dynamic presence within a new listening.

And what is the difference? The difference is that when you are passively listening to a speech, a part of you may be involved and half-interested in it all. I said this, in a partially interested way, because, in general, when we listen to something, when we hear a subject, even when we watch a scene, our brain's behavior is to make edits: we select some things because we like them and keep them, and others we dismiss. This is typical of our listening.

So, we listen, and in this hearing, there is this way of making edits. When you really listen, something new is present, it is different from hearing. In this hearing, you prefer some things and keep those things, and others you reject. This is how, unconsciously, we are present in this hearing. We are not aware of this moment in this hearing, so we do not listen.

However, when there is this listening, as we are proposing here for you, we come across a new way of learning, of learning about ourselves. We need to discover the Reality of That which we are, and this requires a study of how we function internally, how we internally process everything that happens to us in this feeling, in this acting, in this thinking.

So, let us touch on a subject that is basic to you; it is basic and, nevertheless, unknown. And since we are here exploring this contact with this Reality that is beyond the known, that is beyond what we know, which is the Divine Reality, we need, in order to get closer to it, to study ourselves, to investigate what is happening to us at this moment, here within the known. And the basic element, notice this, that sustains our way of being, this way of being, within this life as we know it, the main element within it is still thought.

We don’t know thought, and it is very strange to put it this way here for you, because generally the idea we have is that we know thought, we all know what thought is. Apparently, it is like that. But, in fact, this is not true. Thought is within the known and is something known to us, recognized by each one of us, and yet it remains as something that we do not know how it is processed. We are unaware of the truth about thought.

And here, in these meetings, in this self-discovery, in this awareness of Self-Revelation, we are faced with a portal that reveals God, that reveals the Divine Nature in each one of us. But this element, which is the element of thought, not only this, but also the feeling, the emotion, the sensation, the way of perceiving, curiously all of this is also linked to thought. All of this needs to be investigated, studied and comprehended. The richer, the more complete this approach to ourselves is, which is the approach to Self-awareness, the easier it is for us to approach That which is beyond the known, which is the Divine Reality.

Without knowing ourselves, every type of action, speech, behavior, gestures, thoughts, reactions of emotions, feelings, all of this will be confused, in disorder. When there is confusion and disorder, we have problems in life, and these problems are clearly shown in our relationships with people, with ourselves, with the situations that arise, with the unusual circumstances that arise in our lives. So, we are here looking at all of this.

So, what is the truth about thought? How does it work? Thought, you see, has taken on an excessive value in our lives. Your actions are actions that are based on thought. When you are going to do something, in general, a thought has already arisen previously and along with that thought, a sensation or a feeling or an emotion has arisen, and this has driven you to do that. Thus, thought directs our actions, our activities.

Thus, our motivations are born from thought. When we say something to someone, a thought is present in the expression. When we feel something, when a feeling is present, there is, invariably, a thought there, bringing confirmation, or being the apparent cause or reason for that feeling, which also applies to an emotion. Therefore, thought is an element to be investigated.

So, what is thought? Another question linked to this issue of thought… We have a playlist here just about this subject, what is thought and what is thinking. Thinking is something linked to the presence of thought. We are unaware of the importance of comprehension, both of thought and of thinking. For us, thinking, like thought, is born from a thinker. We have this belief, it is something we received from the world, from our culture, from this psychological, social culture, from this human culture, the idea that thinking arises due to the presence of the thinker and thought is part of this, so we believe in the thinker.

The idea of this “I” in us, of this “me,” of this “person” is the idea of the thinker. Thus, for us, the presence of thought requires the presence of someone in thought. Here we are investigating this with you, because we need to discover how to go beyond thought, since it is precisely thought that has configured this model of existence, of life, where there is this existence as “someone” within the known.

So, if we do not free ourselves from the illusion of how to deal with thought, of how to understand how it naturally needs to happen, we will continue within this form, this model, this artificiality of the existence of the “I,” which is the egoic existence, which is the existence of this supposed thinker.

Note the complications present with the presence of thought that is not observed, not understood, not placed in its proper place. We have anxiety, for example, but we also have depression, we have anguish, fear, a feeling of deep rejection when we are abandoned, not remembered or forgotten. Somehow, the sense of this thinker, which is the “I,” is present in some level of discomfort, complication, disorder, and suffering.

So, in the sense of the ego, we live in suffering, because we do not know how to deal with thought. First, because we believe that we are this thinker, involved, as we are, with this thought. So, suffering is established, problem is present. The various conflicts in our existence within this known way of living is something that we all know.

So, what is the truth of thought? A thought in you is a memory. As a memory, it is something that comes from the past. Put your heart in it to follow this here, at this moment, notice where we are signaling, where we are pointing to, what we are emphasizing here in this speech.

A thought in you is a memory that, when it arises, already arises with a weight, which is the weight of this thinker, who is involved with this thought. If this memory is pleasant, pleasure, at this internal psychological level, is present. When pleasure is present, we call it satisfaction, joy; if it is in a relationship with another person, we call it love. All of this is part of a weight, a psychological weight of this existence of the “I,” of the ego, of this thinker, because we are only facing the past of an image, that thought itself is producing, of pleasure.

We live in a psychological condition where, on this seesaw, at one moment we are up there, in the so-called pleasure, satisfaction, fulfillment, love, and the next moment we are down there – it is a seesaw – and down there we find frustration, loving rejection, anger, jealousy, disappointment within the relationship. This is because our life consists of a life that revolves around this thinker, this center, this “I.”

Here we are with you showing you that we need to discover how to deal with thought. The point is that the sense of “I,” of this thinker, cannot deal with thought, because it is thought. We are constantly confusing ourselves, identifying ourselves with thought, whether it is of pleasure or pain. This is where the ego, the “I,” the illusion of this element present in this thinking is present. So let us understand this here in a very clear way.

If we need to get closer to the reality of this study of ourselves, we need to comprehend this experientially. This here is very simple to put into words, but it requires a direct approach from each one of us. So, what is thinking? Thinking is the mechanics of how it happens, but this mechanics is working automatically and unconsciously. There is no such element as the “I,” the “me,” this you as you believe yourself to be, involved in this mechanics of memory.

Here, with you, we are discovering how to break with the illusion of this “I,” this thinker, to become clearly aware of this excessive importance that thought has assumed in our lives, and this becomes possible when we learn the difference between thinking and thought. When we learn about this very clearly, it becomes clear that this “I” does not exist, this thinker does not exist, what there is, is only the presence of a conditioned memory, of a conditioned brain, of a conditioned mind, producing an illusion, the illusion of an identity present in this moment.

The only thing present here is the mechanics of thinking, and this mechanics depends, in order to function in this way, on this conditioned model, of a conditioned mind, as we find ourselves. Studying yourself is discarding this conditioning, it is going beyond the “I,” the ego, the thinker. This is what we are proposing to you here, the full awareness of this.

We are dealing here, on this channel, with you, within a playlist, which is this Spiritual Intelligence, the Awakening of this Spiritual Intelligence. In this Awakening we have the revelation of the Realization of God. Later, you can take a look here on the channel in this playlist, the Awakening of Spiritual Intelligence.

We are working with you on the end of this psychological condition of internal confusion, where this Realization of God is present. But more than these videos, we have online meetings here. On Saturday and Sunday, we are together for two days, exploring this, entering this moment of awareness of Self-knowledge and revelation of the Truth about Meditation. Here in the video description, you will find our WhatsApp link to participate in these online meetings on the weekends.

In addition to these meetings, we have our in-person meetings and also retreats. If what you just heard makes any sense to you, if it touches you in any way, here is an invitation. Leave your “like” here, subscribe to the channel, and for those who have been watching the videos and forgot to subscribe, this is your moment. And leave here in the comments: “Yes, that makes sense.” Ok? And we will see you. Thanks for the meeting and see you soon!

Learning about Self-Awareness. Conditioning psychology. What is thought? What is thinking?

Here, we are together having a unique opportunity; this opportunity is the opportunity for discovery. We have just entered a laboratory here, and we are scientists researching, doing research, observing, becoming aware of this science. The difference is that this science here and this laboratory here, in them we are not investigating the aspect of the known. We are becoming aware of the aspect of the known, but our objective is the awareness of that which transcends the known, which is the Unknown.

Here, we are inviting you to come closer to the Truth of your Being, which really is not this body, it is not this mind. It does not represent this set of ideas and thoughts you have kept about yourself, about the world, about others, and about life. There is something present – we are investigating the nature of this something – but the only real approach we have to this Reality, to this mysterious thing, is from these elements that are here, which are the elements within the known.

This door, the gateway between the Unknown, the Unnamable, the Indescribable, the Mysterious, this Reality that is beyond everything – which we call God –, an approach to this Reality requires a deep comprehension of the nature of the known. And here the known is this movement, which is the movement of this consciousness, which is the consciousness that we know and recognize, with which we mistake ourselves as if this were the Truth about who we are. Thus, an approach to the Truth of God requires an approach to oneself, to this “me.” The awareness of this “I,” this ego, this person and how it moves.

That is why our focus here is on learning about Self-Awareness, but this learning about Self-Awareness implies learning about life. An open heart, an open mind to look at this whole movement of life, life as we know it, to investigate all of this, to become aware of how confused, disoriented, in disorder, in mental confusion, in problems, in contradictions and conflicts we find ourselves. To become aware of this, to perceive all this movement, which is the movement of the mind and how it works… To perceive all this limitation, this condition in which, as human beings, we find ourselves, within a pattern of repetition and continuity, of human history.

Thus, getting closer to yourself, looking at this “me,” this “I,” studying yourself, is the basis for going beyond the “I,” for going beyond the ego. Here, the laboratory is you, the scientist is you and all the research material is present, with life as it is or as it seems to be to us, due to this very complex psychological background. Due to this programmed and conditioned way of thinking about oneself, about the world, and about others. Perceiving this, becoming aware of this is the basis for the Awakening of Spiritual Intelligence. It is the basis for the Comprehension of the Divine Truth.

The truth is that, psychologically, our condition is complex, due to the presence of the conditioning we have at this level. This mental conditioning, this conditioning of the mind, is the conditioning that is already known in psychology. We live psychologically within a pattern of conditioning, of responses, of reactions that come from the past, due to challenges or moments of stimuli that we receive. So, in an automatic, mechanical, unconscious way, we are continually reacting, using the past as a principle. This past is the model of the “I,” of the ego, it is the model of the person.

Here, we have been insisting on the fact that the “I,” the ego, the person, is nothing more than a set of automatic, unconscious psychological reactions, but without any real foundation as a true entity. The great Truth of life is life without the “I,” without the person, without this “me.” This is how this life is happening for each one of us and, nevertheless, we are mistaking ourselves for a character, within a context of human history, in a psychological conditioning, in a conditioning already perceived in psychology, in philosophy, and in some other areas. But it is as I have insisted here: all this knowledge at an intellectual level solves absolutely nothing.

We must have direct contact, each one of us, with ourselves. You must learn how to learn about yourself. It is this learning about yourself that will free you from illusion, from this psychological complexity that is the life of the ego, which is the life of the “I,” where all kinds of confusion, disorder, problems, and suffering are present. This is what we are working on here, with you. Thus, I have insisted here, with you, on subjects such as, for example: What is thought? Let’s talk a little bit about this, thought within you… What is this thought?

Thought is a movement that comes from the past. Notice how simple this is, but at the same time we are before something very complex. Note, put into words it sounds very simple, but a closer look at yourself will show you that we are before something that requires deepening, dedication, application, and energy available for this self-discovery. So, what is thought? It's simple: thought is a memory. I ask your name, you tell me your name; I ask your address, you tell me your address; your age, you know how old you are. This knowledge of your name, address, and age is a memory.

So, what is thought? A memory! … But is it really that simple? The basis is simple, and yet you have thoughts beyond these very basic and simple thoughts. When you answer your name, you don’t answer with any sentimental or emotional affectation, but if, for example, I call you an imbecile, an idiot… “What a stupid girl,” “What a stupid guy!”… If I say it seriously, with an emotional force behind those words, with a deep desire to offend you, to upset you, to hurt you, you look at me and react.

And why do you react? Because you have another thought about yourself. You don’t just have a thought about yourself, about your name, your age, and your address. You have a thought about yourself, of someone who doesn’t deserve to be treated like that, about someone who is very important, about someone who is intelligent, about someone who is not stupid, about someone who doesn’t put up with insults. Who is that someone? You see, that someone is a thought! It is also a thought, it is an image, a self-image that you have about who you are. This self-image can be hurt, wounded, offended, it can be angry, afraid… This self-image in you is the element, in you, which is you suffering.

So, see, the subject of “What is thought?” is not so simple because it also involves these aspects. One of these fundamental aspects is this image you have built about who you are, over all these years, and that you try to preserve. If I praise you, you feel very good and like me, but if I criticize you, offend you or belittle you, you don’t like me, you get angry at me, annoyed with me. Who is annoyed with me? Who is offended by me? Or who is feeling so special after being flattered? This element is thought, in this form of self-image that you have about who you are.

Notice, throughout your entire life your belief is the belief that you are someone, and that someone is this self-image. Here we are telling you that you are within a mistaken principle, an erroneous vision, something traditional, cultural, cultivated within society as being true and real. This is the vision that human beings have of themselves, but this is the vision that thought has constructed. So, note, we do not know what thought is. And if we do not know what thought is, we do not know the truth about thinking. Then, what is thinking? This sense of “I” within us is offended, hurt, and saddened. This is a construct of thought, thought creates this sense of “I,” in you this thought creates this thinker.

Note, we believe, and it is also just a belief of thought, that the thinker comes before thought. You believe that you are thinking, that is also not true. Thought is happening as a response and a reaction in you, which comes from the past, and you are programmed, conditioned to act within that program. So, all your reactions, as long as this psychological condition of the ego, of the “I,” remains, your reactions will always be conditioned, automatic, without Freedom.

This is a very vast subject. That’s why we have hundreds of videos here exploring all these aspects of the sense of the “I,” of the ego; this is just one. Here, we are telling you that we can dismantle this, go beyond this conditioning, that we can break with this pattern of egoic identity, which is the identity of “I,” which is this conditioned mind, which is this conditioned consciousness, which is this egoic consciousness… or whatever we want to call this condition.

The fact is that it is present, but it is not real. And to get rid of it, we have to be aware of it. People do not know; Buddha’s message, Krishna’s message, Christ’s message, is the message that tells the human being that there is a Reality present beyond this world, this world of the “I,” this world of the ego. And the awareness of this Reality is Liberation, it is the end of suffering because it is the end of the ego, it is the end of conditioning.

In India, they have an expression for this liberation from this psychological condition of ego-identity, for the Awareness of the Truth of your Being, which, according to the Indian sages, within the scriptures of the Vedas, places this singular, unique Reality, which is the Divine Reality, as Being-Consciousness-Bliss. This is the Nature of God, this is the Nature of your Being, this is the Nature of Christ. It is the Divine Nature present, something beyond the person, this “me” that lives within this psychological complexity, in this egocentric model of being someone, involved in ambition, envy, in the search for material achievements… being a creature loaded with conflicting desires and fears that are based on thought.

Here we are telling you in a clear way: you were born to realize the Truth of God. The Awareness of your Being is Love, Wisdom, Peace, Happiness, and Completeness. A life, here and now, free from suffering, disorder, and problems. This is something possible and it is for you, in this life. Perhaps you ask: “But is this for all humanity?” Not everyone has this inclination, not everyone has this disposition, not everyone has this interest. The great truth is that a few are inclined toward this discovery, due to the power of this Grace, this Presence, this own Divine invitation.

So, this Reality is for you. This is the Nature of the Human Being, but those who are at this moment ready for this acknowledgement are ready for this moment. Here, the Reality of That, which is you, brings you closer to work like this, puts in your heart an inclination to investigate all of this. Our meetings here, online, take place on the weekends, Saturday and Sunday – we spend two days together, in an online meeting... They are two full days together, working on this with you – they have this purpose. Our face-to-face meetings and our retreats.

Here, we are sharing with you, here I am putting something possible for this discovery, for this acknowledgement. Here, in the video description, you have our WhatsApp link to participate in these online meetings and get closer to this work. In addition, we have these in-person meetings and also retreats. Here on the channel, you have the link to our agenda, as well as our website.

So, if what you've just heard makes any sense to you, here's an invitation. If you've been watching videos here and haven't subscribed yet, take a look. Kundalini energy. Kundalini Awakening. Atma Vichara Ramana Maharshi. Advaita. What is Kundalini?

There is some confusion in people's minds regarding this subject, which is the subject of Kundalini. Nowadays, there's a lot of mystification about this expression “Kundalini,” and it has even become a myth. The truth is that people don't know what it is, what this word really represents. People have some mystical, so-called spiritual experiences, extraphysical contacts or contacts of some kind, and they attribute this to the presence of or contact with Kundalini. We need to demystify this.

Here on the channel and also on our other channel, we have several videos giving you the real meaning of this, demystifying this idea that thought has built up. Our thoughts are capable of great constructions, from the imagination to create all kinds of things. The simple truth of Kundalini is the direct awareness of this Real Consciousness present here, at this moment.

We are not aware of this Real Consciousness, we are not aware of the truth of what Kundalini is. The presence of Kundalini here, in this body-mind, is the presence of this true Consciousness. What some call Kundalini energy is nothing other than this vital energy, it is the vital energy of Kundalini, which is present in this mechanism, in this organism.

When there is a Kundalini Awakening, note, it's not contact with something mystical, esoteric or so-called spiritual, it's a change due to the power of this energy, which was previously directed towards the external or towards the experiences of the senses or being wasted in the conflict present in duality, something present in this egoic identity.

Notice, in this sense of “I” we are living a life where there is this pattern of duality, there is this “I” and experience, “I” and life, “I” and the world, of course, “I” and thoughts, “I” and feelings, “I” and emotions. In this separation is present the psychological condition of the human being in conflict, in suffering, and this represents a waste of energy.

When this energy becomes available for something new, and this something new is the Truth of the Revelation of your Being, from Self-Awareness, being aware of what Meditation is, naturally we have this Kundalini energy operating a change in this body, in this organism, in this brain – in the own brain cells we have a profound, radical change. So, this is the simple and direct truth of Kundalini Awakening.

Notice, it's the emergence of a state free of the ego. If there is no such state free of the ego, there is no Real Kundalini involved, present. Everything the mind creates is within its model, it's within itself. It can have fantastic, extraordinary, so-called profound or fulfilling experiences; it can acquire certain powers, but they are psychic powers for that mechanism, for that organism. So, it's very common for people to mistake this truth of Kundalini Awakening for acquiring extraphysical powers.

Human beings can develop powers, it is possible. Due to certain psychophysical changes in this organism, some powers may arise, but please note that the truth of Kundalini Awakening is not the achievement of powers, but the awareness of the absence of duality, of separation. Those who realize the Truth of what they are, which is the Truth of God, become aware of non-duality.

The expression here is Advaita, non-separation, non-duality. So, your Natural State of Being is a state free from duality, it's a state where what is present is this energy of pure Consciousness, taking over this body and this mind. This is the Presence of Consciousness. The Real Consciousness in you is Being, Happiness, and that is Kundalini.

Notice that this contact with Reality, which is beyond the known, is contact with the Truth of God. You, in your Being, in your Natural State, function in a completely different way to the average human being. In our common model of thinking, feeling and acting, our actions are egocentric, our thinking comes from a model of psychological conditioning, our feelings are guided by this psychological model of thought conditioning.

So, in this conflicting state of being, this being present is the egoic identity. This is not real in your Natural State, this is common in the egoic mind, in this sense of the “I,” in this sense of someone present in life, living experiences. A real work on oneself is the end of this old condition, the end of this restrictive model of life, of egocentric existence. The sage of Arunachala, called Ramana Maharshi, left the Atma Vichara. Atma Vichara means the observation of this “I,” the awareness of self-observation. It's in this sense that we have self-investigation.

In general, people translate Atma Vichara as self-investigation. Here it would be more accurate to use the expression self-observation instead of self-investigation. This is about approaching a free look from the “I” towards this experience of this instant, this present moment. This is how we approach Self-Awareness, this is how we approach Meditation and this access to Kundalini Awakening. Now, there is an energy available to bring about this transformation, this change.

Understand what we are putting here for you. The moment you are upset, angry, worried, afraid, the moment you are involved within a pattern of psychological conditioning, where your pattern of thinking and feeling is involved with some level of egocentric activity, you are in a waste of energy, occupied with this common pattern of conditioning, in duality.

The thought in you moves from a thinker. Notice how interesting that is. A feeling moves from an element, which is that “I” in feeling. A perception is seen from a perceiver. Notice that here we have a movement of separation, of duality. When you are preoccupied, it is the movement of thought, the images that come from the past, guiding a life of a present entity, which is the thinker, which, in fact, we are dealing with an imagination.

In this pattern of duality, there's the thinker with its thought, the worrier with its worry. If it's anger, it's the angry one with its anger, if it's fear, it's the fearful one with its fear. This is the model of duality, of illusory separation. Here is the waste of energy, when the one who is the observer is observing its experience, when the one who is the experiencer is experiencing its experience. So, that's what this waste of energy, of Consciousness, lies.

Look how simple it is. All the energy you have available in your body comes from food. This vital energy has the physical aspect and also the mental aspect, and this is something that is being wasted in this psychological condition of conflict, due to duality. When you learn to become aware of this movement of duality, at that instant you highlight the presence of an Attention, an Attention that makes this observation available.

So, this self-observation is observation without the “I,” without the observer, and when this is present, this duality is undone. So we are in direct contact with the presence of Self-Awareness, which is Meditation. As there is no longer this waste of energy because this Attention is no longer sustaining, this Mindfulness on this instant, is no longer sustaining this duality, where there is this worried person with its worry, this fearful one with its fear, this thinker with its thought, there is no longer this separation, there is only a present experience and a look free from this center, which is the “I,” the ego. Thus we have a direct observation of what is happening here and now with this mechanism, with this organism, with this body, with this mind.

There is only a perception without the perceiver, there is only a look without the observer. Then this energy becomes available because the mind quiets down. There is a space that opens up when the mind becomes silent; it is aware of itself, aware of itself and therefore free of this duality – get this – free of this separation. That's when there is the Awakening of this energy, the energy available for this work in this body, in this mind, which also includes, naturally and above all, this brain.

Note, we're talking about something scientific. It's a science that we don't know about. So, Spiritual Enlightenment, the Awakening of Spiritual Consciousness, the Realization of God, there are various names for this Natural State, including this expression, the Kundalini Awakening. So, what is Kundalini Awakening? You'll notice that we're presenting you here with a very different approach to what people understand Kundalini to be.

Note, it's not an experience that someone has, goes through the experience and then says: “my Kundalini has awakened.” There is no such thing as “my Kundalini.” There is only this Real Consciousness and it is not personal, it does not belong to someone. You can't have an experience called Kundalini because the truth of Kundalini is the Truth of Real Consciousness, which, when it takes up its space, the experiencer is not present, there is no someone present to report something. It's not something that happened in the past, it's not an experience, it's not part of memory, it's not part of knowledge. Everything that is part of memory, that is part of knowledge, is part of time.

Here, contact with Divine Reality is something that is outside of time. Do you get that? There is a Reality present here, at this instant; this present Reality is outside of time, outside of the known. Notice, it's something outside the movement of the ego and therefore of memory, it's not part of thought. Thought, time, memory is something within the movement of the known, which is part of the “I,” which is part of the ego. Here is contact with something outside all that.

So, becoming aware of this Reality of your Being at this instant is the Awakening of your Divine Nature. Thus, an approach to Ramana Maharshi's Atma Vichara is an approach to the awareness of Real Meditation. We have several playlists here on the channel presenting you with this issue of Meditation, Self-Awareness and Kundalini Awakening.

I'd like to invite you: we have online meetings that take place on weekends, where we work on this with you. It's a possibility, through questions and answers and in this contact with Silence, to get closer to the Divine Reality, which is the Reality of this Being that we are. I'd like to invite you here.

We have meetings here on this channel, as well as on our other channel. You can find the link to our other channel in the description of the video and find out about the videos we have there. We also have face-to-face meetings and retreats. If this makes sense to you, go ahead, leave your “like” here, subscribe to the channel and please say “Yes, it makes sense” in the comments. OK? And we'll see you. Thanks for meeting us and see you next time!

Joel Goldsmith | Awakening Mystical Consciousness | How to silence the mind? | Master Gualberto

GC: Hello, everyone! We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto is here with us. Thank you, Master, for being here.

Today, I will read an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith's book called “Awakening Mystical Consciousness.” In an excerpt from this book, Master, Joel Goldsmith makes the following comment: “When the mind is silent, there is integrity, fulfillment, and awareness of spiritual identity.” On this subject of silencing the mind… Can the Master share his vision of how to silence the mind?

MG: Gilson, here, we are faced with the fundamental question: how to silence the mind? Note, we do need this Silence, but here we are faced with a great difficulty, and the difficulty lies in the idea that we can do this. That is why most people get involved with all forms of meditation techniques, systems, or practices with the purpose – note – of silencing the mind. Yes, the truth of the silence of the mind reveals something beyond the mind, but the problem lies in the fact that we cannot attain this without a real work in this direction, and this work is not through a technique, a system or a meditation practice.

What we can have, through a meditation technique, or system, or practice, is a silence that we can temporarily impose on the mind, through effort. So, we are dealing with something, in a mechanical way, to deal with a situation, which is this mechanism of the mind. We apply a technique, a method to, through this method or technique, silence this mechanism of the mind, temporarily. So, the mind becomes quiet, but it is, in fact, quieted; and when it is quieted, it returns to its restlessness again.

See, we need the truth of silence of the mind, of a quiet mind, but not a quieted mind, but not a calmed mind, but a mind that silences and that quiets itself; and the basis for this, the true basis for this real stillness, for this real silence of the mind, is Attention on its movement. Once you put Attention on this movement, there is an approach to how it works, to the truth of how it processes, how it manifests, how it presents itself. So, we are facing an approach to the truth of Self-awareness.

If we do not have a real basis – and the basis is Self-awareness – for this silencing of the mind, everything that is achieved in meditation, as this expression is generally used for these techniques, does not solve anything, because we are not dealing with the Truth of Meditation, but rather with a meditative technique. The basis for Meditation is Self-awareness. It is Self-awareness that reveals the movement of the mind, the real movement of the mind. So, we have the vision of this thinker with thought, of this one who is moved by his emotion, of this one who looks from the past at what he is seeing at each moment.

So, we have an verification of the movement of the ego, of the movement of the “I,” and we realize that this movement is just this movement of psychological agitation, which is the movement of thought. Once we approach this attention to this movement, we have a new perspective on this study of ourselves, which is Self-awareness. So, in a natural way, thought is discarded, because this thinker stops being valued within this movement of thought. Only when this thinker is discarded… You see, this thinker always assumes roles, and one of the roles it assumes, generally, for those who engage in a process of so-called “spiritual” search, is the role of the meditator. So, this thinker assumes the role of the meditator for a meditation practice. You see, it is still the ego, it is still the “I,” it is still thought. That is why it does not work.

A true approach to the silence of the mind requires the absence of the thinker, the absence of this element that observes from the past, that feels from the past, that desires, that hopes from the past. The mind, in a natural way, once aware of its own movement, when there is this Attention, the mind becomes aware of its own movement. This is all it can do because of the presence of this Attention. So, this Attention is the presence of a new energy that allows the mind to become aware of its own movement, and this is enough for this natural stillness, for this natural silence. Then, something beyond the mind is revealed, something beyond this movement of thought, of experiences, knowledge, memories, remembrances… So, we are faced with the Truth of Meditation, and this Meditation reveals God, reveals the Truth.

In these meetings here, we are with you proposing this new perspective, which requires the presence of this Attention. It is a state of complete Attention to our reactions. This Attention is Mindfulness, it is True Attention, it is Real Attention to our reactions, here and now, in this moment. Therefore, an approach to the Truth of That which is You requires this new look at this movement. We are not, Gilson, facing something so simple, because our model of life is the model of dispersion, it is the model of inattention, of this not looking. We are constantly trapped in a pattern of mental confusion, of emotional disorder, where we are present in this movement of the “I,” of the ego, constantly confusing ourselves with these emotions and with these thoughts.

So, discovering what it is to look without this element that gets involved with what it sees, discovering what it is to become aware of thought without being confused by what thought proposes in this like or dislike that it has: this is the real way to bring, to this moment, the Truth of Meditation, possible through Attention, possible through Self-awareness. Work, Gilson, is necessary in this direction. In these meetings, we are showing you how this becomes possible, and there is an element present that makes this work real: it is the element of Divine Grace. It is not about someone doing it. It is not about the “I” doing it, the ego doing it; it is about the power of this Presence, this Intelligence, this Divine Love doing this work.

GC: Master, we have a question here, from a subscriber on the channel. Eder makes the following comment and asks: “John said that a time would come when there would be a new earth and a new heaven. What is your understanding of this?”

MG: Yes, there will be a time for this new heaven and for this new earth. That is what we are proposing here for you: the awareness of this new time. See, it is time outside of time. We need to discover, Gilson, that our notion of time and space is within the error of the thought model. So, our vision of the world – and here we have heaven and earth – is the vision of the dream. So, there will be a time… This time is now. This is where time ends.

See, in this instant there is no time. Time presupposes the future or the past, or some notion of the present. In this instant, we do not have this notion of the present, we do not have the past and we do not have the future. So, this time is now, but in this now, in this instant, there is no time. This is where the Vision of Reality, the Vision of Life outside the dream, is revealed. Outside the dream – you in your Natural Divine State, in your Natural State of Being, which is the Reality of God – there is no time. This is the Nature of God's Truth, That which is timeless, That which is indescribable, unnamable, and this is the Truth about you, when we no longer have this old heaven and this old earth. That is, when we no longer have this old time and space.

This time and space, and this old heaven and earth, are part of the old movement of time, of this model of time that thought has constructed, where the sense of “I,” where the sense of ego is present. Here, the Flourishing, the Awakening, the Waking Up, is the end of the dream, it is the end of this old time, where this time and space, this heaven and earth are present. So, we are facing something new, but it is the indescribable new, it is the new without a name. The point, Gilson, is that we were born to realize This, to assume the Truth of a new heaven, of a new earth. That is what we are together, here, working with you.

We have all that is needed to get closer to this, we have the whole possibility of attaining this in this life. However, this requires that we get closer to ourselves in a way we have never done before. The human being lives involved in his search or search in the external world, in this world of appearances, in this dream, in this old psychological condition of continuity, where the “I,” the ego, is present. So, we do have the old heaven, the old earth, and it is here that the human being is searching for truth, love, peace, happiness.

Thus, within a dream condition where, in the ego, the human being finds himself, everything he can find, within the dream, is part of the dream for a dreamer. In this condition of existence, ignorance, non-Truth, illusion, and sleep are present. Awakening in this life is assuming the Truth, the Truth of your Divine Nature, the Truth that the Reality of Life is Love, is Bliss, is Freedom, something possible within this Divine Awareness, within this Awareness of God.

GC: Master, we have another question here, from another subscriber to the channel. The question is the following: “And what is the Truth? I thought that Truth was Christ from beginning to end, that the Son was the key to all Truth.”

MG: Yes, she makes a good point. First, asking the question: “And what is the Truth?”, then she says: “I thought that the Truth was Christ.” Notice, Truth is Christ, but it is not part of thought. So, when you say “I thought that the Truth was Christ” ... Every thought that we have about Christ is not Christ, it is just a thought, and, as a thought, it cannot be the Truth.

Understand what we are saying: there is a Truth present, this Truth is Christ, but a thought about Christ is an image, an idea, this is just an imagination, because the word “Christ” is not Christ. It is a name! And the image we may have about Christ is just an image that thought projects, draws, idealizes. This image is not Christ. Gilson, we need to know the Truth of Christ, to become aware of the Truth of God. We become aware of the Reality of God when we assume the Reality of That which we really are, when the “I” is not there, when the person, the ego, is no longer present.

Otherwise, whatever we have to say, that we are talking about Christ, we are only speaking from an imagination, from a projection of our own thought. See, this is how we were taught. This is quite understandable. We received from our culture a particular mental vision, of course; intellectual, of course; based on word studies, of course, about Christ, but they did not give us a Real Vision of Reality. A True Vision of Reality is revealed when we are beyond thought, beyond words, beyond concepts, beyond ideas, images and beliefs. Then, the Truth of God, which is Christ, is the only Truth. Allowing this only Reality to completely take over this body and mind, this is the end of the ego, it is the end of illusion, it is the end of suffering.

See, Gilson, when we are born, we receive from the culture, we receive from the country where we were born, a vision of God. So, if you are born in India, in Japan, or anywhere in the world where religion is professed, you receive within the organized religion there, from that culture, within that country, when you are born, a vision of belief or non-belief. Because there are countries where people do not believe in God, so you receive non-belief, and if you are in a country, if you are born in a country where you are taught concepts about God, you have an idea about Him and a name for Him.

If you are born in India, there are hundreds of gods there. If you are born in a culture like ours, Judeo-Christian, you are taught monotheism – the idea, the belief, the concept of a single God. So, we all have ideas, beliefs, that are taught to us from childhood, according to the culture, according to the place where we were born, but all of these are beliefs. Divine Reality, the Reality of God, is not a belief. To become aware of this Reality is not to believe in God. It is to become aware of your True Nature, your Real Nature.

So, the expression “Christ” or any other expression for God, is an expression, it is a word. What is the Truth of That which we are? What is the Truth of your Being? To assume this Reality is to assume the Truth. We need to go beyond speech, beyond verbal expressions, beyond words, beyond thoughts, beyond beliefs. Beliefs are cultural, something intellectual that we receive from society, from the world, from culture, while Truth is beyond the intellect, beyond words, beyond thought. To assume the Truth is to assume your Divine Nature, which is Love, which is Wisdom, which is Comprehension. Then, there is the Truth of God present.

It is also important to say here, Gilson, that this has nothing to do with organized religions. The Reality of God is beyond all of this, it is outside this movement of religious culture, of cultural religiosity. It is in this sense that true religious life is the awareness of God, and not the science of doctrines, beliefs, concepts, ideas, words. The Awakening of your Divine Nature is the Revelation that God is the only Reality, that Christ is the only Truth, that the only Truth is the Divine Truth.

GC: Thank you, Master. Our time is over. Thank you for this videocast.

And for those of you who are watching the videocast and have a sincere yearning to get closer to oneself and comprehend this truth, we invite you to participate in the meetings that Master Gualberto offers. Here, in the first comment, pinned, is the WhatsApp link, so you can join the group and participate in these meetings. The meetings are online, on weekends, and there are also in-person meetings, including multi-day retreats. And these meetings are much more profound than these videos, because we can ask the Master our questions directly. Furthermore, what is most important is that the Master, because he already lives in this Awakened State of Consciousness, shares this State of Presence in which he lives. He shares a Presence, a Power, a Silence, and we end up being able to get a lift along on this Silence of the Master, and by getting a lift along, it becomes much easier for us to investigate ourselves, to have a vision of what is beyond understanding. So, here is the invitation!

In the first comment, pinned, there is the link. In addition, please give a “like” to the video and leave questions for us to bring to the next videocasts here in the comments.

And, once again, Master, thank you for the videocast.
