In fact, what do our meetings here consist of? They consist of a discovery, a verification, of becoming aware of the Truth of what we are, of this whole process present in our relationships. Life consists of relationships. We can't have the real meaning of life, its real significance, without first having a direct perception of what is happening to us, within each one of us.
In general, we believe that life is something that is happening outside. The great truth about this is that life is happening inside each one of us. What goes on inside us is part of life. So, life in its totality cannot be learned or understood without first having a clear vision of this whole process of thinking, feeling, emotion, sensation, way of perceiving within each of us.
Notice that life is a mysterious movement. Every moment we are being challenged to give life an answer. Now notice, life – I'll say it again – is not outside, it's a whole process of relationship between each of us and what happens. Accidents, incidents, occurrences, events are all part of life. And here the question is: how do we learn to live? Without a direct comprehension of this, life will continue as it has been.
As human beings, we have countless problems in our relationships, starting with ourselves, the relationship we have with who we are. This is basically due to a misconception, and the misconception is: we don't know the truth about who we are, but we have an idea about ourselves. That's a misconception.
The thought you formulate about who you are is because we don't know how to learn to live. Our contact with life, once the idea of someone we believe we are is present here, is one of separation. So, we don't know how to live, because we haven't learned how to live. It seems to me that one of the most difficult things in life is the awareness of that learning. From birth, we don't have access to this learning, to this way of acting in life.
Here we use the expression “learning” in a different way. It's not about acquiring knowledge through experience, or by studying books, listening to lectures or teachings given by others. Here we are talking about a new learning. The only real learning about life, which is learning how to live, requires a closeness in which there is no separation between the one learning and what is being learned.
It's like driving a car: when you are willing to learn how to drive a car, the first thing is to become aware of the intimacy with the vehicle. Away from the vehicle, you are not aware of this intimacy. Without the proximity of the vehicle, you can't learn how to drive because driving requires the presence of a vehicle, so the car is present and you are present. In this proximity and intimacy, the technique becomes possible.
Otherwise, you'll hear about how to drive, someone will tell you how to shift gears, how to keep your distance while you're on the road driving, and all that you're hearing from the other person is just borrowed knowledge, something completely, totally useless without that intimacy with the car itself, which only you can have. Only this contact will give you the direct technique of how to drive.
Note, everything in life is very simple when you know it and very complicated when you don't know it. Theory is never practice. Theory without the direct vision of the experience of experiencing, of discovering something in an experiential way, is useless. Here in these meetings, the way to get closer to it, is through experiencing. Thus, one of the most complicated things in life is learning.
Technically, something, with dedication, with application, taking some time, studying experientially, in practice, you end up learning. And everything you do in life, notice, you learned one day. You learned to speak, you learned to walk, you learned to eat. Absolutely everything you've learned: combing your hair, brushing your teeth. Despite everything we've learned, many things we still don't know, or don't do properly because we're still learning.
Here I'm not referring to that model of learning that requires direct experience, direct experiencing too, but I'm referring to something much more delicate. I'm referring to the comprehension of the truth about who we are in life, the meaning of life, the importance of life, something that is happening, and in this happening, there is no separation between us and it.
Only in our idea, in our thinking, in our mistaken model of feeling, acting and thinking is there this illusion of separation, this illusion of you and life, you and the other – yes, the other person – you and events, occurrences, what arises, what appears. The idea of separation is something that is present in us; an idea that thought is responsible for.
Here, I refer to the beauty of learning Self-Awareness. We need Self-Awareness. Learning to live, the answer to how to learn to live lies in the importance of Self-Awareness. Self-Awareness is the closeness to life, to the point where a direct comprehension arises that there is no separation between you and it. It is the basis for Wisdom. Note the importance of that.
We have various questions, and we have dealt with them here on the channel. These various questions usually begin with the expression “how.” “How to deal with jealousy?” for example. “How to deal with the feeling of rejection? How to deal with rejection in love? How to deal with stress? How to deal with depression? How to deal with the pain of loneliness?” There are hundreds of thousands and thousands of questions like these.
Notice, these questions don't require a technical answer, but a psychological one. “How do I drive a car?” requires a technical answer. “How do I bake a cake?” This requires a technical answer. “How do I speak a new language?” requires a technical answer. However, “How do I deal with thoughts? How to deal with feelings? How to deal with the other?” All this requires an answer of a different order, of a psychological order.
The point is that we don't know how we function, how this mind functions, and that's what we're studying here with you. Without that we don't have the basis for Liberation in this life, for an end to this psychological disorder in which we find ourselves. Look at the world, the world is in conflict. There is conflict between countries, there is conflict between families, there is conflict between ideas, opinions. Conflict arises between divergent thoughts, between different beliefs, even religious beliefs, between different positions of social and political interest.
Our psychological condition of identity is centered on this “I,” which we don't understand how it functios. We are unaware of this movement, which is the movement of the “I,” of the ego present in each of us, because we don't comprehend ourselves. In these meetings, we have focused on the beauty and importance of Self-Awareness, which requires comprehension of what thought is, what emotions, sensations and feelings are. How this internal movement, which is the movement of the “I” in us, functions, separating itself from life, from others, from events, incidents and everything else.
We are here with you investigating the Divine Truth of our Being, of our True Nature, in order to go beyond this condition of ego-identity. Only then will we have an answer to what this free, happy living is, where the presence of Freedom, Truth and Love is present. Here, our focus within these meetings is on the Blossoming of the Divine Truth that we bring, on the end of this psychological condition of ego-identity, something common to every human being before the Spiritual Awakening.
Here we're working with you on the Awakening of Consciousness, Spiritual Awakening, and this requires the presence of the Truth about Self-Awareness – and we've talked about this many times here. Here on the channel we have several videos, hundreds of videos about Self-Awareness. And we've put this expression here that is totally different from anything you've ever heard out there about this thing called Self-Awareness.
This is about becoming aware of the illusion of this “me,” this “I,” this ego. So, this is the end of this egoic condition, which represents the end of this psychological condition of this identity, for something totally unknown, of great beauty and uniqueness, which is the Presence of Intelligence, of Compassion, which is the Presence of Love, That which is present when there is Wisdom, when there is Freedom, when there is Truth.
So, if this is resolved, all these questions are resolved. As an example, we have this question: “How do I deal with jealousy?” Look at the mess we're in. We don't perceive that the presence of jealousy is the presence of attachment, it's the presence of control, insecurity and fear. It is fear that is behind this feeling, not Truth, not Freedom, not the Beauty of Love. Love is impossible as long as there is attachment, control, jealousy, possession, domination, dependence, insecurity and fear.
Here we are together seeing the beauty of this encounter with the Truth of Who we are, and in this realization Freedom is present, the Truth of Love, of your Real Nature. Therefore, our relationship with others, with life, with the world, is real when we have the Truth of this learning about ourselves. Because when we learn about ourselves, we discover that the illusion of this egoic movement, which is the movement of the conditioned mind attached to this model of life common to all, is an illusion that we are sustaining out of ignorance.
In this channel, we are working on the issue of the Blossoming of Truth, and therefore of this Freedom. Here we are studying ourselves together, not books, theories or concepts. Our interest here is not in listening to lectures and theoretically approaching questions like these. We want to discover directly, experientially, what it all means. Then the Truth of learning takes place, and in that learning Divine Revelation shows itself.
So, that's our purpose here with you on this channel and also on our other channel, called “Marcos Gualberto.” Then, please, take a look here in the description of the video, we have the link to the other channel.
