Joel Goldsmith | Awakening Mystical Consciousness | What is True Freedom? | Marcos Gualberto

GC: Hello, everyone! We're here for another videocast and Master Gualberto is here with us again. Thank you, Master, for your presence. Today I'm going to read an excerpt from a book by Joel Goldsmith called "Awakening Mystical Consciousness." In an excerpt from this book, Master, Joel makes the following comment: "Acceptance of what is, without resistance, is the path to inner peace." Well, on this subject, can you share your vision of what true Freedom is?

MG: Gilson, the awareness of Being, the Truth about yourself, the Reality about life, the Truth about God-this is the definition of the question "What is Freedom?" Now, notice: everything we've just mentioned, all these phrases, mean absolutely nothing when viewed from an intellectual perspective. When we look at the dictionary, we have the meaning for every word. When you look up the meaning of a word, you find the meaning of that expression, but the verbal meaning is not the real meaning; there is a difference between the word and the thing itself. The word "love" is not Love; the word "freedom" is not Freedom...

We have many ways of expressing "freedom," and within words we can give this expression many meanings. We generally use the expression "freedom" to refer to economic freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of action, financial freedom, emotional freedom, freedom to come and go... We have many ways, we use this expression with several meanings, but here we are discussing the awareness of the Divine, the awareness of Truth. We are here to address a new meaning to this expression.

Note that in life, "freedom" is also synonymous with space; without space, we cannot speak of freedom. When we have space, we have freedom. Now, look at what interests us here, investigating this expression: psychologically, within ourselves, in our minds, in our hearts, we are unaware of Freedom, because we are living within patterns of feelings, emotions, and thoughts within a restriction, within various restrictions. Our relation with others, with ourselves, and with life, is very narrow, very limited. We lack the presence of space, so we are unaware of the Truth of Freedom.

The presence of Freedom is the space that allows us, in our relation with others, as well as in our relation with ourselves, internally, to enjoy Peace, Silence, and Love. Thus, I would say that true Freedom consists in the awareness of this Being, which is the awareness of God. It is not about political freedom, economic freedom, freedom of speech, or any other form of freedom, but rather the Freedom for Love, for Peace, for Happiness, something that becomes possible when we have a comprehension of the Truth about ourselves.

Note that people speak, write, and compose songs about freedom, but this remains only in the realm of ideas, theories, and desires. We do not assume the experiential Truth of Freedom, and we do not assume it because we do not come into direct contact with what we are. We remain in ideology, in concepts, in ideas, in intentions, but not in the direct experience of what is present here, revealing itself as who we are within relations-our relation with him or her, our relation with ourselves, our relation with life. So, we don't have the awareness of this in a direct way.

What we are saying here is something we cannot put into words-that's what we are doing here, in these statements, telling you very clearly that the Reality or the Truth of Freedom is not restricted to theoretical formulations of words, desires, or ideas... We can only truly know what the Truth of Freedom is by assuming who we are in our essential Nature-which requires the presence of the Awakening of Consciousness, the true vision of God, the true awareness of life. This is what we are here together, working on with you, deepening with you. The presence of this contact, the Truth of this vision, the clarity of this moment we can call Freedom, is something indescribable. You were born for the Reality of your Being, for the Truth about God.

Here, the expression "God" is used not in the sense of an idea, a belief, or even a concept, but of a direct experience of Supreme Happiness, of Supreme Love. It is in Supreme Love, in true Happiness, that what we can call, in fact, true Freedom, lies. Freedom is something that concerns your Being, the presence of life free from the ego, free from the "I," free from the "person." This sense of identity we have is a limitation. We are living within a frame of illusion, in a circumscription of ignorance, trapped in a program of collective consciousness, social consciousness, and worldly consciousness, which represents a quality of life that is asleep, dreaming.

Your true contact with life is a contact where there is no separation between you and life as it is; and within it, there is Freedom indeed, when the ego is not, when the "I" is not. This is what we are here with you to comprehend, to experience. This is the presence of true Freedom, this is the presence of the Truth of your Being. Some call it "Spiritual Enlightenment" or "Awakening of Consciousness"; That which is indescribable, unnameable, That which is beyond words, and beyond thoughts.

GC: Master, we have a question from a subscriber here on the channel, who made the following comment: "Master, how to live true love in relations?"

MG: Gilson, that's a good question. We don't know the Truth of Love. We have feelings for people, they have feelings for us... We relate to each other based on the presence of thought and feeling. As long as you are pleasant to me in this relation, as long as our thoughts and feelings remain pleasant, we call "love" this pleasure present in the relation. When we begin to disagree in thoughts and feelings, the way we treat each other changes completely, and with this change we have a difference; we no longer have the presence of pleasure, we have something that is no longer pleasure in the relation.

We use the term "love" to describe this affinity of thought, feeling, sensation, and emotion, which represents the presence of pleasure. What brings us closer to the other, the fond memory of them, the pleasant thoughts of them, we call "love," but the central basis, the foundation of this, is actually sensation, satisfaction, fulfillment, and pleasure. When it changes, we experience resentment, hurt, sadness, anger, jealousy... So, what we call "love" is something that alters, something that changes. We are constantly experiencing sensations. If they are pleasant, we cling to them; if they are unpleasant, we move away or no longer want them.

Here, together, we must investigate this issue of the Truth of Love. Love is what is present when what we know as "love" no longer exists. See, there is no possibility of verbally describing, in words, what Love is, but we can investigate-yes, using expressions and words-what Love is not. Love is not possession, Love is not control-see, possession over the other, the desire to possess-it is not control, it is not exercising dominion so that the other, in this possession, can fulfill me.

Thus, investigating what is not Love, what is present in our relationships in general is not the presence of Love, because control is present, possession is present, and dependence is present. All of this is violence, fear, and if this is present, any change in thought and feeling reveals that, behind the pleasure, what we have present is this condition within the relationship. Therefore, what we call "relations" are relations where what is present is the presence, in these relationships, of all forms of problems, which remain hidden until they become manifest, when we experience frustration, disappointment, and betrayal. And this shows itself much more frequently than we imagine. Everything seems to start well, but in reality, we are just playing a game of appearances, when what is hidden behind what is apparent, is something else.

The Reality of life free from the ego, free from dependence, free from attachment, control, envy, jealousy, possession... When we have the Freedom of a relation where we have not the presence of the "I," the presence of this self-centeredness, this search for fulfillment, pleasure, and fulfillment of sensation in him or her, we have That which is present beyond this separation, this duality. Therefore, the Truth of Love is the Reality of this Being, That which is present here when there is no longer the illusion of thought, feeling, and sensation for this center, which is the "I," which is the ego.

The truth is that, in this center, in this ego, all our reasons, motives, intentions, interests, desires-all of this revolves around the search for a particular fulfillment, a self-centeredness, which actually isolates and separates us. This isolationism, this separation, is actually the presence of conflict. Note, conflict is already present, suffering is already present, but it is hidden. You don't become aware that, behind this pleasure, fulfillment, and satisfaction in the relation, there is no love, but dependence, fear, jealousy, possession, and control. This is how we live in the mind. This is the movement of thought within us. This is the movement of the ego.

We need to go beyond the "I," beyond the ego, beyond this sense of someone present who needs to find some level of fulfillment in him or her, so that in this Happiness of Being, in this Freedom of Being, the Reality of Love is truly present. And when Love is present, your relation with him or her is no longer one of dependence, fear, lack, or seeking something in him or her. Therefore, living the Truth of That which is you in your essential nature is to assume the Reality of Love. Then, this Love is present, but the other is not the presence of this Love, the other is not the fulfillment of this Love, the other is not the joy of this Love.

When Love is present, the other, life, and everything around you is included, is part of this Love, because you, in your essential nature, are the Divine Truth, the Truth of Happiness. Thus, the presence of Love is the most precious thing we have in life, but the presence of Love is not possible when the ego is present, when the sense of separation between you and him or her is present. Free from the sense of "I," the other is part of this communion of Divine Presence. The other is the Reality of this Being. If there is no separation, what is present in life is the presence of Love. Thus, we cannot put into words what Love is, but we can become aware of the Reality of That which is present here, at this moment, as the Reality of God.

GC: Master, we have another question from another subscriber here on the channel. Maurício made the following comment: "How do I abandon my private desires?"

MG: Gilson, the idea of ??freeing oneself-see-from personal desires, is just an idea! Investigating the nature of the "I" is to comprehend the nature of desires. The "I" is this sense of dissatisfaction; in dissatisfaction, the longing for something is present, all the time. Therefore, freeing oneself from personal desires means comprehending the nature of the "I," having a clear vision of what desire represents. Desire is the presence of dissatisfaction; the "I" is this dissatisfaction present, this incompleteness. Becoming aware of our reactions, seeing clearly how the mind works, here at this moment, at every instant, in contact with the present moment.

When you come across something, you have a perception. As that perception of that given thing arises, a thought about it arises; along with it, a sensation arises. At that moment, thought projects itself to fulfill itself in that object-it is the presence of thought, when it projects itself to fulfill itself psychologically in something. From this perception, desire arises. Is it possible, in life, to become aware of the mechanics of perception, sensation, and thought? Of this projection of thought to fulfill itself in that object?

Note that it is the movement of thought. By projecting itself, it creates an identity that will be fulfilled in that sensation. So, at this moment, the Reality of the instant is lost, because the movement of thought is one of projection toward what it desires to achieve. Then, the presence of the future arises, of the future to be happy, of the future to be fulfilled, to be satisfied. So, we are constantly in a movement of achieving something to be happy or of getting rid of something-which is also a form of desire-to be happy. Alienated from this instant, this present moment, we are living, psychologically, in thought, in sensation, in imagination, in the longing for something.

Note that this is, essentially, suffering. Freeing oneself from suffering means being here and now, free from the movement of thought projection into desire-into the desire to obtain or the desire to be free. Perhaps, your question is precisely this. You ask: "How do I free myself from my personal desires?" Become aware of the movement of the "I." It is the presence of the "I," the illusion of an identity here and now present, in dissatisfaction, projecting oneself from thought to fulfill oneself in the future, the basis that sustains the suffering of desire.

GC: Thank you, Master, we've already completed our time. Thank you for this videocast. And for those of you who are following along and truly desire to experience these truths, we invite you to participate in the intensive weekend meetings hosted by Master Gualberto. These meetings are much more profound and transformative than these videos here on YouTube. First, because the Master answers our questions alive, and second, and most impactful, is that, because the Master already lives in this Awakened State of Consciousness, he shares a field of Presence, Power, and Grace around Him. And in these meetings, we end up taking a ride on this field of the Master's Presence. And, by taking this ride with the Master, spontaneously and effortlessly, we enter the Meditative State, quieting our minds, and gaining insight and comprehension into the topics discussed here on the channel.

So, here's the invitation: in the first pinned comment, there's a WhatsApp link to join these meetings. Go ahead, give a "like" to the video, and if you're not subscribed, please, subscribe to the channel. And, Master, thank you again for the videocast.
