Mindfulness. Brain conditioning. Full Attention. How to deal with thoughts? Real Meditation.

Alright! Here you know that we deal with subjects involved with this issue of the “I,” the ego. Our purpose is to work with you on the end of this psychological condition, which is the condition of identity that, because seeing itself separate from the experience, is naturally in conflict with that given experience. Our purpose here is to eliminate this sense of separation, this duality; discovering a Natural State, free from the sense of egoic identity, of identity present, this identity being the “I,” the ego, the experiencer that always separates itself from the experience and, naturally, creates problems.

So, I want to investigate with you here, today, this issue of racing thoughts. How to deal with racing thoughts? Or how to deal with anxious thoughts? Note, we are dealing with exactly the same thing. We don't know how to deal with thought because we don't know how thought works. We live within this thought process, being someone within life, living, within experience, separating oneself, naturally, from experience. Being an entity that sees itself far away, separate from this experience, whatever it may be. But we don't know how thought works, what it is like to deal with thought. This requires understanding the movement that is the movement of the “I,” the movement of the ego. The movement of the ego, the movement of the “I” is, of course, the movement of thought.

It's not just accelerated. So, we have chatty thoughts, obsessive thoughts, anxious thoughts, and racing thoughts. This is the experience for the one that separates itself from experience, which is the “I,” the thinker. So, I want to investigate with you, here, the structure of this thinker. What is the truth of this thinker? What is the nature of this thinker? What is this thinker made of? It's very simple: from past experiences. If I show you an object you have never seen, you don't have a name for it. If I tell you the name of that object, you will already identify it by the name. This will be knowledge now in your brain, an experience stored in your brain, recorded. When I ask you the name of that object, you will tell me the name, a thought will be expressed.

So, what is thought? A memory! A memory reaction, a memory response. Thus, our thoughts are functioning within each of us as memory responses. The brain is functioning this way, having these responses, these reactions. This occurs automatically, mechanically, unconsciously. How to deal with the brain? It is like dealing with the mind: becoming Aware of the movement of thought, because as long as unconsciousness is present, mechanicalness is in operation. So, it is crucial to understand the art of disidentification with the movement of thought. This becomes possible when thought is observed and we do not place an element within thought to guide thought, lead thought, reject thought, mistake ourselves for thought, identify with thought.

So, there is a break in identity in this model, which is the model of thought. This is when thought, being the experience, loses its value, loses its importance, because there is no experiencer behind it. See how simple this is. You want to slow down thoughts, you want to get rid of obsessive thoughts, repetitive thoughts, anxious thoughts. This wanting, this will, makes the experiencer, the thinker, present within the experience. What does it do? It strengthens the sense of the experiencer in the experience. When you want to get rid of a thought, you are strengthening the thought. If here I say to you: “Don’t think about death. Don’t think about death scenes.” When I say this to you, the first thing that comes up is a coffin or a burial or a burial, or candles. The brain naturally goes in search of what it wants to reject. So, the movement of rejection is of the brain and the movement of finding memory, the production of memory, all of this is part of the movement of the brain to confirm its experience that it wants to reject.

In fact, all thought can do in this model of brain conditioning is maintain its continuity, with that thought being just a reaction of the brain's mechanism emerging. So, all this will, this desire, this volition, is still part of the brain's own movement. This is how the conditioned brain works. We don't get rid of thought by wanting to get rid of it. Liberation from thoughts implies the Awareness of the movement of thought. Being aware of the movement of thought without reacting to it, is something that the brain has no inclination to do. The entire disposition of the brain is to react, this is part of conditioning, part of unconsciousness, part of the mechanism of how the brain works, of how thoughts work.

Notice that if we are willing to get rid of the model of thought – which is the model of the “I,” the ego –, the only thing that matters here, at this moment, is the presence of Consciousness. This Consciousness is present when there is Attention, Attention on this movement. However, this Attention on this movement is only possible when there is an approach to the movement itself, and not a movement of distancing. If you reject the experience – which, in this case, is an accelerated thought – you are strengthening the movement of thought itself. If you mistake yourself for the model of racing thought, you are strengthening it. But if there is an approach to just look, to verify in this proximity, in this direct communion, without identification and without rejection, there is full Attention on the movement. This Mindfulness is the presence of Consciousness.

So, we have Real Consciousness when there is this Attention. This immediately determines the end for the experience, for this movement of racing, obsessive, and chatty thought. Because there is no thinking element, there is no experiencer, we do not have the strengthening of unconsciousness. This is a break to the habit, the addiction, the model, the pattern of brain restlessness. Then, the brain quiets down, a space opens up, a space of Silence. At that moment, an emptiness appears within this Stillness. So, there is a break in this continuity, in this old and unconscious model of thought, obsessive, chatty, accelerated… of all types! Because there is this Attention. Attention is the nature of Consciousness. All that is needed is this inner Stillness, which occurs naturally when we have an approach to the movement of thought. We have an approach to experience without placing the thinker, without placing the experiencer. This way of getting closer is, in itself, the vision of how we function, of how the mind works. Are you with me?

We need to learn how the brain works, how the mind works, how this “I” works. Having this approach, we immediately have a disconnection from this model of psychological restlessness, cerebral restlessness, mental restlessness. Thus, we come closer to the art of Self-Awareness, of learning about ourselves, of learning how we function. This is Meditation. Here and now, at this instant, moment by moment, to become aware of each thought, emotion, feeling, perception... perception without the perceiver, thought without the thinker, sensation without the one involved in the sensation. Becoming aware of this, having an approach to the truth of this “me,” this “I,” requires a brain that has quieted down, a mind that has silenced.

Note, it was not silenced, the brain was not quieted because of a discipline, a technique, a meditative practice. That's something else! People look for practices, meditation techniques and, in a certain way, they achieve a certain silence, a certain cerebral stillness during the practice. But they cannot live in practice, they need to go out, go to work, drive the car, take the child to school, take care of routine events, take care of business, work. And it is at this moment that we need the Awareness of the art of Being, which is Meditation. So, Real Meditation occurs at this moment: you are driving your car, you are working, talking to people, dealing with situations, and at that moment this state of Awareness, of Presence, of Consciousness is present. Then, this is the Truth of this Mindfulness, at this moment, on all this movement of restlessness, all this internal movement of the “I.” The Awareness, the Consciousness, the Vision of the Truth about this, is What is present when we give Attention to this instant, to this moment. Thus, this Attention on this moment is the end to this illusion, to this movement of psychological restlessness, when the sense of the “I,” of the ego, of this “me,” is seen, is verified.

This “me,” the “I,” the ego, is nothing else than this restlessness, this internal movement. So, what works for the movement of thought, works for the movement of feeling, of emotion, of the way of perceiving life. Thus, in this way, we break the continuity of this movement, which is the egoic movement, because we bring to this moment the Awareness of Being, which is Meditation. See the importance of this. In life, at this moment, the present Reality is this Truth of Being, Consciousness, Happiness, Peace, and Love. However, this is not present when the sense of the ego, of the “I,” in this restless, chattering, accelerated movement of thought is present. That explains why our internal psychological states are anxiety, anguish, depression, fear, jealousy, envy, ambition, and conflict of desires. So, our psychological condition of being someone in life, in living, in experience, without this Realization of Truth, this Silence, this Stillness, this absence of the “I,” is the one of suffering.

So, we are working with you here on the vision of the Truth of Self-awareness. This is not a technique to soften, to ease, to calm this sense of the “I,” of the ego. Here, we are talking about the end of this condition, which is the condition of the “I,” this “me,” this ego. Here, it is about this Realization of the Nature of your Being, this Truth that is present when everything that is within the known, this egoic movement, is no longer present. Thus, this encounter with the realization of What we are requires an approach to what is here. We have to eliminate all forms of escape, distraction, and distancing. We have to learn the art of getting closer to ourselves, of studying ourselves, of understanding ourselves within this instant, this present moment. Whatever is going on within us, having a close contact, a direct contact without running away from it, without identifying with it – becoming aware of it, bringing Awareness to this moment, bringing this Mindfulness to this moment – is the Real way of approaching the end of the “I,” the end of the ego, and, therefore, the end of this psychological and complicated condition of being someone in this weight, in this anxiety, in this depression, in this anguish, in this fear, and suffering.

So, that's our topic here with you, within this channel. We have meetings here on weekends, online meetings where we are working on this with you. Real psychological change in us | Psychological emotional pain | Satsang: the encounter with Truth

We want to spend the next few minutes exploring the issue of change, of real change or real psychological change. This will be our focus here with you. Now, it's important that we approach this. See, there is a lot of difficulty in this communication.

In general, when we communicate using words, we encounter a great difficulty; and the difficulty lies in the fact that when we hear these words, we usually already have a formula, a model, an idea, a concept, a specific belief about the meaning of this or that word, and so here we come across the greatest difficulty of all, which is the difficulty of communication, of verbal communication.

Sometimes I find some comments on the channel, where people say: “You talk, talk and you don't say anything. You talk, talk and don't explain.” This kind of comment is very interesting because it shows us exactly what we're saying here. We come up against this difficulty in communication, especially when we don't use technical, very specific words to deal with a particular subject, as we do here. We use common words, not technical words. In general, they are not words used in books on the subject we are dealing with here.

We are dealing with this real psychological change in each of us, with the need for this change. And we don't use expressions from psychology, technical expressions, because we are addressing an audience here that is only trying to investigate this in a direct way, without all this theoretical knowledge about it since what we are communicating here we haven't discovered in books.

When we talk about the importance of this psychological transformation or this internal change – something that is necessary for each of us – this is something that we discover for ourselves. We don't discover it by reading or studying what others say about it. We discover it when we come close to observing the inner movement taking place within ourselves. The richness of this understanding arises when we approach this study of ourselves. So, to study ourselves is to have a direct approach to the truth about who we are, about what we are at this instant, about what we are at this moment. And so, we have the possibility of a direct, experiential approach to this Truth.

So, this is not about verbal communication. It's not a matter of comparing the speech being given here with the knowledge we already have, with these formulas, ideas, concepts, specific beliefs, as we have just said. We don't have the slightest possibility of approaching this subject theoretically. We use words here, but those words won't mean anything to you if you don't understand what's going on inside you.

In other words, our approach here is to a very delicate subject. We're talking about a significant, profound, real change in this psychological model of being someone that we know, that we see in ourselves, that we see in others, that we see in the world around us.This, of course, requires a dedicated heart, a dedicated mind to investigate directly, beyond these words, beyond the meaning of these words. So, notice the difficulty we have here.

We use words, we use words because they are necessary, but there is something here much greater than these words, something much greater than the verbal meaning of each of these words, and this is something that is revealed when there is a deep communion between us. Notice that every time you are in contact with someone, in a dialog, and a moment of communion takes place, the words become clear to the point that those words can even be dispensed with because something happens on an inner level that is the comprehension; and when there is comprehension, there is a perception on the same level, on the same frequency, on the same basis for that contact.

So, real communication occurs when words are not so relevant, when what is now relevant in this contact, in this communication, is this communion. Then, when people say “You talk, talk and you don't say anything,” notice, it's not possible to approach a subject like this without this openness, without this sensitivity, without this communion. Thus, it's very interesting that you investigate the videos on the channel here.

In just one video like this, you can't get a sense of everything that we're dealing with here in terms of this deep psychological change that is needed for this Realization of Truth, for this Realization of God, for this Realization of this Divine Truth we bring within. We must take a very careful approach. So, watching other videos here on the channel is very important. And even more important than watching these videos is taking part in meetings like the ones we have, which are online and face-to-face meetings.

If, in fact, we are feeling something inside each one of us, which is the burning for Truth, which is this fervor for the comprehension of the Reality, the Reality we are, the Reality of God, the Reality of Life, we need to get closer to work like this. Words are not enough, we need something much greater than words within this work. So, getting closer in an online meeting, in a face-to-face meeting, will certainly make all the difference to you because there is something present in an online meeting and in a face-to-face meeting beyond what we find here in these videos, and that makes it possible for us to have access here to something beyond words.

So, this encounter in India is known as Satsang. Satsang means “the encounter with Truth.” In this encounter there is something beyond the communication of words, it is the Revelation of the power of Silence. There is great power in Silence. It's not the silence of the absence of sound, it's the Silence of the presence of Grace. When the brain and the mind quiets down, there is Something that is Revealed beyond all that we know, it is the Presence of the Mystery of the Divine Grace.

Thus, these meetings are not for us to follow intellectually, but for us to learn to follow together, following in this communion, and this communion becomes very clear, very strong, very powerful when we are inside Satsang. Then, these invitations and these videos are invitations to get closer to the Truth of your Being, which is the Truth of God. It's an invitation to go beyond words.

Note that most of us have already read a lot of books. By the time you get here to this channel, you have studied a lot, read a lot, been to different places to study the Scriptures, and books. Here we are offering you something different. We are offering you a vision of what you are here and now, at this instant. This requires investigating and studying yourself, and not books, teachings, doctrines – religious, spiritualist, philosophical, or psychological doctrines.

We are offering you a profound vision of the Truth of What Is You. The Comprehension of it here and now, can reveal something beyond this “me,” this “I,” this ego. Now, let me make it very clear to you: it's not possible in a video of just a few minutes like this to get a real approach to this. So, what we always have in these videos, in addition to the hints of looking at yourself, of studying yourself, of understanding what's going on inside you, what we have in these videos, besides that, is an invitation for a direct approach, for a deeper, more meaningful, more relevant approach. That's when it makes perfect sense, indeed, because there is a direct understanding of yourself in this study of yourself, in this observation of what is happening to you.

So, notice what we say here, but you need to go beyond what we put into words here. You need to directly experience all this psychological movement, which is the movement of the “I.” This “I” is this psychological movement in us that works within a time that thought has produced. The notion of “I was, I am and I will be” is a psychological notion of time. There is no such thing as “tomorrow,” as “yesterday,” as this psychological “today.” This is something created by thought. We are living in this condition. Not understanding the illusion of this means maintaining this continuity, which is the continuity of the ego. What is this ego? It's this center around which this life of the person we believe we are, is happening.

To investigate these subjects here is to understand something fundamental. We are investigating a subject that is complex. These psychological subjects are not so simple. Theorizing about it doesn't solve it, reading about it doesn't solve it, hearing words about it doesn't solve it. Direct contact with all this internal movement is needed in order to understand how this “I,” which is this movement of thought in this time, in this psychological time, is happening, occurring. Then, we can dismantle this condition, we can see the end of this psychological condition of this “person,” this “I,” this ego. That's when this change, this real psychological change, becomes possible. It's something we need to live here and now.

Human beings live in pain, in suffering. We carry various forms of grief, emotional and psychological pain. In this sense of the “I” we carry envy, ambition, anguish, boredom, the pain of loneliness, depression, fear, the various aspects of violence present in us, something that is very present in our lives, in our daily lives. The presence of jealousy, for example, which we mistake for the truth of love. Jealousy is insecurity, jealousy is fear, jealousy is violence. This is just one example of other internal states we bring with us, which are causing suffering for ourselves and for others in our relationship with the one we claim to love, with the people closest to us.

So, yes, we need real psychological change. We do need a psychological transformation. Some call this the Awakening of Consciousness, the Spiritual Awakening, the awareness of the Truth of your Being Revealing Itself. Therefore, I want to keep telling you here: it's important to assume that in this life.

Becoming aware of this Truth requires this approach. That's why we have online meetings on the weekends that take place here. Investigate this further, open yourself up to this moment of the power of Grace, of this Presence. In addition to these weekend meetings, we also have face-to-face meetings and retreats. So, I want to leave you with this invitation. And if this is something that makes sense to you, take the opportunity of this moment to give your “like” here and subscribe to the channel, OK? And see you. Thanks for meeting me and see you next time!

Joel Goldsmith. Art of meditation. The purpose of meditation. Meditation on God. Master Gualberto.

GC: Hello everyone! We are here for another videocast. Again, Master Gualberto is here with us. Gratitude, Master, for this opportunity.

Master, today I'm going to read an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith's book called “The Art of Meditation.” In this excerpt Master, Joel talks a little about meditation, and he says the following: “All meditation on God is fruitless unless we realize that what is true in relation to God is true in relation to us as individual and infinite beings.” Master, can you tell us a little bit about what Real Meditation is?

MG: Meditation, Gilson, is the awareness of your Being. This full awareness of That which is You in your Real Nature is Meditation.

The problem with not understanding what Meditation is, is that it has led people to dedicate themselves to a certain model of practice, to become involved in some type of system of how to meditate.

In general, people consider Meditation as something that they will do, that they need to do, that they are determined to do. They do not understand that Meditation is their nature. So, the only real thing with regard to Meditation is not the practice of meditation, but the awareness of this Natural State, which is Meditation in an experiential way, in a practical way in living. So, it is not a practice of meditation, but it is Meditation in a practical way, with Meditation being the expression of the very nature of the Being.

So, we have to investigate the truth about Meditation. Investigating this means understanding that Meditation is what establishes itself as being real in our lives when we approach this study of ourselves. Without studying ourselves, any meditation technique or practice is not Real Meditation, because it is something mechanical, it is something that you force yourself to do, determine yourself to do, technically you do it. But who is this element involved in this doing if not the mind itself, the “I” itself, the ego itself? Therefore, this is not the Truth of Meditation, it is just a meditative practice. So, they are different things.

We can explore this a little bit here, within this meeting. We can investigate this: the real difference between True Meditation and a technique, a practice, or a system of meditation as it is generally done out there. People dedicate themselves to meditation based on a technique, an exercise, a practice. So, for them, meditation is a practice, while, in fact, Meditation is awareness of Being. When there is awareness of Being, there is Meditation. We can work on this. If you have any questions, we can delve into it further

GC: Master, within a path, within spirituality, I learned a lot about meditation practices, and a practice that has a goal, always with an objective. And, even within that, we have a question from someone subscribed to the channel. She asks the following… Nely Flávio asks the following question about meditation: “Apparently, this meditation is empty and aimless, right?” Can you talk a little bit about this, about the purpose of meditation?

MG: The purpose of Meditation is the awareness of your Divine Nature. This is not at all empty, this is of great importance. However, it is of no importance and is completely empty from the ego's point of view. So, the awareness of your Being is the awareness of Happiness. This is the real purpose of life, and This is not something empty.

There is the emptying of illusion, emptying of self-interest, of ego-centeredness, when there is this Truth of Meditation. But I understand her question. It's because, in general, people do meditation as a purpose to obtain something, to achieve something, to accomplish something. So, people practice meditation to find something. Whatever they find in meditation, as a result of their search, is still within that condition, that movement still of the known. So, what people call meditation, and aim and purpose within meditation, is still something within self-interest.

So, it is possible, within a meditative practice, to achieve a certain silence, a certain stillness, a certain relaxation... However, this is still within the sphere of the known. This has nothing to do with the Truth of Meditation, because the Truth of Meditation is the end of the known, it is the end of the “I,” it is the end of the ego, it is the awareness of something that is beyond the known, beyond time, beyond mind, beyond this movement of stillness and restlessness, of relaxation and non-relaxation, as usually happens.

In general, the person enters into relaxation within meditation and, when leaving meditation, the relaxation is gone. He goes into stillness within meditation, and after he comes out of meditation, the stillness goes away.

Real contact with Meditation is the end of this movement of stillness and restlessness, tension and relaxation, purpose being achieved or not, since the awareness of Meditation is the awareness of That which is outside the “I,” outside the ego, it is real awareness that God is the only present Reality. It's not even about this very common idea of communion.

For us, the idea of communion is between two, between this “I” and God, while the Truth of Meditation is the expression… the revelation that the only Reality that expresses itself, which is present when the “I” is not, the ego is not there, is pure Divine Reality.

So, the Truth of Meditation is the end of the “I,” the ego, the experiencer. When there is Meditation, there is no meditator. So, it is not something within time. It does not require a specific moment, it does not require a specific time, it does not require a specific environmental condition for this awareness of Meditation, since Meditation, I repeat, is not a practice. It is a discovery of your True Nature, which arises from a very natural way when there is an approach to the truth, to the understanding of this entire movement, which is the movement of consciousness, which is the consciousness of the “I.”

So, the foundation for Meditation is the truth of Self-awareness. Becoming aware of one's own movement of thought, feeling, emotion, and perception, thus eliminating the sense of an identity present in it, is the basis for Meditation. And one detail, Gilson: it's only real if it's now. It is only real if it is faced with any situation. At this moment, you are within the ideal moment for the awareness of Meditation, for the Truth of practical Meditation, of experiential Meditation, at this moment. This subject is fascinating!

The key to the Truth of Awakening is, yes, the awareness of Meditation. Without Meditation, which has as its principle the Truth of Self-awareness, there is no Awakening. Some people can live within a technique, a practice, for many years, for a lifetime, and never know the Truth of Real Awakening, because the Truth – and I say “Real Awakening,” because Awakening is not what many others put it there as “awakening”... Nowadays, any mystical experience or any transcendental experience, or one that goes a little outside the model of the common mind, people, in general… any level of experience of this type is called “ awakening.” This is not the Truth about Awakening!

Awakening is the end of the sense of separation, it is the end of the sense of duality, it is the knowledge of That which is present when the ego is no longer there. This is Awakening! It is not the awakening of the person, it is not the awakening of the “I,” it is not the awakening of someone; It's Awakening! It is the awareness of the Truth of That which is the present Life without this element, which is the illusory identity. This is Awakening!

GC: I was going to ask a question exactly about what the Master said just now. For example, I learned many meditations to find this “Higher Self,” this meditation for inner connection, or a meditation for inner communion with God, and occasionally I had experiences: experiences of peace, of ecstasy... What could these experiences be, Master?

MG: So... these experiences are still at the level of a perception from the one who perceives. So much so that one registers, one keeps the memory of the experience. So, when you go through the experience, the memory of that experience is recorded. So, what we have within an experience of stillness, of peace, of relaxation... this may involve a deep emotion, a deep feeling, something very, very pleasant, but, after the experience, the record remains, and, if it is an experience that left a record, it is no longer there, what we have is always a memory.

You can observe, Gilson, that these experiences come and disappear, and they leave these records. This is a sign that it was just an experience for someone who recorded the experience. So, if there is a record of the experience, it is because that experience…in it, we are still present – because it is something that can now be remembered, recalled – the experience linked to an experiencer. So, this cannot be something real from the point of view of non-duality, of non-separation.

As long as there is the experiencer with his experience, there will be separation. This separation is duality. Reality, Truth leaves no record, because it is not something outside this moment. In other words, Reality, Truth is present in this moment. This is not something that one registers. The awareness of the Truth of Meditation is not an experience, it is the absence of the experiencer.

You do not live the Truth in the past. When the Truth is here, It is the only Reality present, there is no experiencer. So, in that sense, you are the Truth, but there is no record for an experiencer. Record is always memory, Gilson, record always comes from the past. The experiencer is always an element that comes from the past with a description. So much so that the description is: “there was peace, there was silence, there was tranquility…” There was! This is something that is always in the past: it is gone!

You cannot describe the Truth here and now, unless you separate yourself as being the experiencer, but you are no longer in this Truth. That's why when a person comes out of meditation, what they have now is just a record, it's just a memory. It is a sign that what one calls “meditation” was just a recorded experience. So, this cannot be the Reality of Meditation, because the presence of Meditation is the absence of the one who meditates; the presence of Truth is the absence of the one who records the Truth.

Note that this is very important to understand. We are used to living in time, Gilson. So, as people, we are always recording anything. This record begins to take part, it becomes incorporated into this identity, which is the identity of the “I,” which lives on memories.

Reality is not a memory. The Real Vision of God is the absence of “I.” It’s not someone seeing and recording, it’s God’s Reality taking over Its space. No register! So, you ask, “What are these experiences? Experiences! Experience requires the presence of someone who lived it and recorded it. Gilson, we need to discover what life is through experiencing, without keeping records, because, when we keep records, the identity of the “I” assumes these records as being the experiencer, the one who has remembrance, recollection, and memory.

Basically, the “I,” the ego, is exactly that: a center of records, memories, and remembrances. There are memories of the aspect of material life and memories of the aspect of this so-called “spiritual life.” These aspects also include mystical contact, the so-called “spiritual” contact, the bliss of the mystical experience… but this is now just a memory for this “I.” It's very interesting, because people keep looking for that experience again. Now, they are projecting, from a memory, the idea of an experience that is no longer there. The Awareness of your Being is now, there is no record, there is no memory. The brain does not capture This as part of its knowledge.

GC: Master, it's funny, because that's exactly what happened to me. I had, in some meditation, an experience of great peace, of lightness, I recorded that there and, obviously, later I wanted to repeat that, and I started to collect these experiences, the ego started to collect these experiences, and I thought that was the best, because I was told that this was what spirituality and realizing God were all about and.

But what happens... I saw that it wasn't working, because, even though I had these experiences, I came out of meditation, a deep peace, a cool experience, a few minutes passed and it was already “normal me” there, you know? And with the same conflicts, with the same internal restlessness.

Then, I began to suspect that there was something wrong with these experiences, because it was always “myself” there in a mental experience, the ego taking possession of a mystical or transcendental experience and adding more to its identity. That's it, Master?

MG: You observe, Gilson, that this is what happens to everyone! You go through experiences… they are rich, they are deep, they are wonderful, but they are now just memories! And why don't they carry out a radical transformation in this mechanism, in this body-mind? Why don't they establish themselves as something true and definitive? Because they are happening at the body-mind level, at the level of feelings and emotions. They are not based on the dethronement of the ego.

No experience dethrones the ego. You go through the experience, and the ego, the “I,” assimilates those experiences, records those experiences, as part of itself. Afterwards, the ego itself misses that and says “where did it go?”, because it was just an experience, still emotional, sentimental… At that moment, it seemed rich and deep, but now what we have are just memories.

The fact, Gilson, is that this doesn't work. So, people spend many years of their lives living experiences, and thought builds a story around

these experiences, saying that the thing will arrive, the thing is coming. But no! The years come and go, and the person, looking at oneself honestly, begins to realize that they are still just a person. Perhaps with a wealth of so-called “spiritual” experiences that other people do not have, but, from the point of view of egoic identity, they continue to be possessive, jealous, greedy… they continue to be full of desires and fears. The various forms of suffering are still there. Perhaps not those apparent gross sufferings of someone who is not involved in spirituality. Someone outside of spirituality suffers in a very gross way, and one who is involved in spirituality has an apparently milder form of suffering, but the sense of “I” is still there! Jealousy, fear, possession, afflictions, anguish, sadness, everything is present!

So, the person improves, they may even have a different model of life and patterns compared to others, they may even be seen as someone different, someone special... they may even achieve a certain respectability in their environment, because they will be seen as a spiritual or spiritualized person, but internally the “I” continues to be present. As long as the “I,” the ego, remains present – whether gross or subtle illusion will be present, Gilson!

So, the Truth of Awakening is the end of the “I.” We have to discard this search or quest for increasingly deeper and richer experiences from our lives, since these experiences are only at the level of memory records. This does not bring about a radical and profound change in this body-mind structure. We need something beyond that. This something beyond is a real work of Self-awareness, of True Meditation, in a practical way, in an experiential way.

What you are saying is very common, it is very common. The people listening to us now must be realizing what we are saying. We spend many years reading books, studying, and having experiences, and it seems that we always see it confirmed, by books and others, that we are becoming spiritual. But who is this person who is becoming spiritual, Gilson? All of this is still within the illusion of the “I,” the illusion of the ego.

GC: And, by Grace, I ended up meeting you Master, and there is a Freedom, because Master brings this vision where there is no need for a practice, but, rather, a constant state of alertness in life and, also, a discard of studying anything outside, other than studying myself, looking at this madness of being someone, looking at this person who suffers, looking at this person who seeks experiences, who sought so much and collected experiences, and nourished so much – as the Master said – the hope that, by adding mystical, transcendental experiences, something could happen one day. And the Master brings us this vision, to discard all this hope, which is time, which is just the continuity of the “I,” right, Master?

MG: Yes, this is within illusion, the illusion of time that the “I” has formed, that the “I” has constructed, through memory, through thought, to maintain its continuity. The whole idea of growth, evolution, and change within this structure, within this projection of the “I,” requires the presence of time. So, it ends up that this “I,” which is this set of memories, remembrances, that form the experiencer – this experiencer who is also the one who is thinking about all these subjects, who is the thinker; he is the one who is thinking about all this – he is always with an ideal of, in the future, being able to free himself from these addictions, these problems, these mistakes, this limitation, this suffering.

So, there is always the idea of becoming “someone enlightened,” of becoming “someone awake,” of becoming “someone ready” ... When the ego does not say that the person is already ready and that he or she is only improving, developing oneself, and becoming better and better over time, which is an illusion!

All the ego is doing is maintaining its continuity based on a belief, based on theoretical concepts of everything it has ever read and everything it is experiencing, and transforming that into a past experience for it, as being real.

The Truth of Revealing your True Nature, Gilson, is the discarding of the “I,” which is the experiencer, with all its experiences. So, there is something new present, which is no longer within a process of experience with its experiencer. It is no longer about experiences with its experiencer, it is no longer about evolution towards that center, which is the “I.” There is something unknown present, which is the reality of simply Being, without past, without future and, naturally, without this notion that the present has something to reveal that is not here yet, that is, the present being a door yet to the future.

This all falls away, this all disappears, when you become aware that the only Reality is something that is present when the experiencer, the thinker, the “I,” the ego, is not. So, there is nothing to achieve and nothing else to get rid of when your Real Nature – which is the Truth of experiencing life without the ego, without the “I,” which is Meditation – is present.

GC: Master, our time has come to end. Thank you for this videocast. We stop here. For those of you watching the video: leave a “like,” this helps YouTube recognize that the content is relevant, and also leave a comment, asking questions for us to bring to future videocasts. And, mainly, for those of you who want to understand ... more than understanding, but experiencing, comprehending what this Real Meditation is, we invite you to face-to-face and online meetings with Master Gualberto, which are called Satsangs, where the Master shares this State of Real Meditation. And, being in this connection in Satsang, we end up receiving and entering this atmosphere that is totally unknown, which is no longer an experience for the ego to collect, but something that is beyond words, beyond what we can talk about. So, here's the invitation.

In the first pinned comment, there will be a link to the WhatsApp group with information about the meetings.

Ok, Master! Thank you for this videocast.

We need to discover God. Confusion, disorder and suffering. Realization of God. The end of the ego

What are we actually looking for? What are we actually seeking for? We live in a world where there is confusion, disorder and suffering, so there is, undeniably, a search, there is a search. But I want to investigate with you here whether this search is for Truth, for Reality or if it is the search, the search for some form of satisfaction, of fulfillment that brings us a new level of fulfillment, since we have experienced some moments of satisfaction, we have tried some forms of fulfillments at different times in our lives. But it seems to me that none of these satisfactions, fulfillments or achievements have truly become something permanent.

So, what are we actually looking for? What are we actually looking for? Can one seek the Truth, can one seek the Reality, can one seek the Truth of God? It seems to me that this is not our purpose in this search, in this pursuit.

Therefore, the human being is not in this pursuit or in search of Truth, Reality, one is not in search of God. We are, yes, in a search, in search of some level of fulfillment and satisfaction that is permanent. In this search we are moving from one religion to another religion, from one philosophical system to another, from one spiritualist ideology to another. So, this search for God, for Truth, is not true. It is the search for satisfaction, for something that fulfills us on a permanent basis. Since the external achievements seem to have all failed, we are now in search of something so called “spiritual,” but it is not the pursuit or the search for Truth. It is the search for a satisfaction within what we call spirituality.

So, it would be interesting for us to investigate some things here. The first of them is: can the Truth be found? Is it possible to find Happiness? Is it possible to find God? See, we can seek something that gives us a fulfillment, an accomplishment, a permanent satisfaction, but is there actually such a thing too? So, notice what a delicate situation this is for the seeker, the one who searches.

The first is that we cannot find something that is truly permanent under the name of Happiness, under the name of Truth, under the name of God. It is not possible to find what we designed as something permanent. So, this so-called “satisfaction” or “fulfillment” that we project into an idea, into an image that we create about God, about Truth, about Reality, if that is what human beings are truly looking for within spirituality, one will not find it. And why can we say this, that we cannot find something permanent? Because there is no permanence in any achievement, in any level of fulfillment, in any level of satisfaction. This is because it is the nature of an accomplishment, a fulfillment or a satisfaction, impermanence is the nature of this. So, that's the first point.

The second point is that this Truth, Reality or God is not something that could be found. We cannot find God. We cannot find Reality. We cannot find Truth. What becomes possible is the realization of Reality, the realization of God, the realization of Truth. However, for this to become possible, we need to discover who this seeker is. Notice what an important thing there is for us to see.

We need, before going on a search for fulfillment in satisfaction, in accomplishment, on some level – since we tried materially and it still didn't work, and now we are looking for spiritually – we need to first ask who is the one who seeks, who is the one who is in search of something that is permanent, whether in achievement, fulfillment or satisfaction. Here we also have to ask who is this one who is in this quest or in this search of Truth, God or Reality.

So, we have ideas about what this search is, and we can be in an idea, in this search, naming this search as the search for Truth, for God, for Reality and, however, we are in search of a permanent fulfillment, permanent achievement, a permanent satisfaction. This is what human beings are looking for. But here we are faced with a huge difficulty, which is the non-understanding of the truth about the person who is on this search. That's why we can have different names for this quest, and we can have different feelings about it. Both the feelings and the names will be saying absolutely nothing, because the basis of this search has not been understood. What is the basis of this search? It is the one who seeks. Who is this who seeks?

Without first having an understanding of ourselves – and the truth is that we don't know who we are, we don't know what is going on here, inside each one of us, we don't know the movement of thought, feeling, emotion, the way of perceiving , this way of feeling life, everything that surrounds us, what is inside and what is outside –, not understanding ourselves, not seeing what we are is ignorance, it is the basis of all this search; a search that is based within this ignorance.

Our dissatisfaction has produced in us this pursuit, this search. So, in our search, based on this ignorance for satisfaction, we can have moments of satisfaction. So, this is how we have been engaged in this search. We don't actually know what we are seeking, because we don't know the truth about who we are. So, based on this illusion, on this lack of knowledge about ourselves, we are attached to this search, this quest.

Thus, we are unaware of the truth of who we are and, naturally, the true nature of this dissatisfaction; a dissatisfaction that is in search of fulfillment, of a permanent fulfillment. That's what we need to see here together. We need to discover the Truth, we need to discover Reality, we need to discover God, but we cannot find this within this project, this idealization, this movement in this search that has this dissatisfaction as its principle; a dissatisfaction that we want to get rid of by wanting to find something that fulfills us and fulfills us permanently. We cannot achieve this without first having an understanding of the Truth about who we are.

So, this is what we are proposing here for you within this channel. So, we need to discover the Truth about who we are. Knowing ourselves, knowing this “I,” this “me,” this person who is on this search. The Realization of God, the Realization of Truth, this Realization of Reality, this represents the end to this dissatisfaction, this is the end to this continuity, this search to get rid of this dissatisfaction by achieving a satisfaction, a fulfillment, an accomplishment.

What is this something that we want to find in this satisfaction, fulfillment? We want to find Happiness. However, note, Happiness is not something findable, just like Truth, God or Reality. This is not something findable. Here in these meetings, we are studying the Truth about who we are, understanding this way of feeling, thinking, acting, and moving in the world. Studying oneself is the closest, most realistic thing we have, for an approach to God, Truth and, therefore, Happiness, which is not a project that is carried out when seeking permanent fulfillment, permanent accomplishment, a permanent satisfaction.

The Reality of That which we are when that which we demonstrate to be, that we express to be at that moment in our relationships, the end to this condition of that which we demonstrate to be and express to be within our relationships – relationships with people, relationships with ourselves, relationships with life –, the end of this old condition, of this illusory identity as we show ourselves to be at this moment, the end for this is the emergence of Something new, of Something indescribable, which is the Reality of That which we are when that which we present to be, that we demonstrate to be, that we appear to be, that we are within this illusory condition, is no longer present.

So, what is the truth of our search, of our quest? The truth about this is that we are searching for Reality, for Truth, for God, which is Real Happiness, but this lies in this encounter with the Truth of That which we are when what we demonstrate to be, when what we appear to be, when what we present ourselves to be is no longer present. Then, this Divine Reality shows itself. So, the idea of “someone” to find is a great illusion. One who seeks is an illusion. How can this illusion, which is the one who seeks, find something else? The one who seeks, this “I” who is in this search, is just a movement of thought, of imagination, of conditioning, projecting itself into an idea, into an imagination.

Here the invitation is to discover how to look at ourselves. So, this whole idea of something permanent to be found within this imagination, which is the imagination of this “I” projecting itself into its ideas, is an illusion. Your work consists of becoming aware of what you are, understanding yourself, understanding yourself in life, perceiving the illusion of this sense of someone present who separates himself from living, who separates himself from life, who separates himself from this extraordinary movement, which is this movement of Existence; to become aware of this element that is the “I,” the ego, this “me” that separates itself and projects itself into an idea, a belief, a concept of something to be found, of something to be acquired for oneself.

So, knowing yourself is the basis for going beyond this illusion, it is what is fundamental, it is the only thing, to have this encounter. Happiness is not findable, but the realization of the truth of this illusion that we seem to be shows us the Reality of this Happiness, which is not findable because you cannot find it in time. But we have the Vision, the Revelation of Happiness that shows itself here, in this moment, when this sense of “I,” of the ego, is no longer present.

This is not a permanent satisfaction, this is the end of this sense of an “I,” of the ego, of an illusory identity that lives within a dissatisfaction, lives within a condition of incompleteness, because it sees itself as an entity separate from life and therefore burdened with fear. Where there is this sense of separation, the presence of this duality in this idea “I and Existence,” “I and Life,” “I and living,” “I and the other,” “I and Reality,” “I and God,” “I and Happiness,” when this is present, we have the presence of fear. So, at this level of egoic existence, of egoic quality of life, dissatisfaction is present.

The Reality of That which is God, the Reality of That which is You in your Being is not something within time, it is not something within this movement of becoming, of achieving, of accomplishing – accomplishing tomorrow, becoming tomorrow, achieving tomorrow. So, we are dealing with something here with you that represents the end of suffering, the end of illusion, the end of this “I,” the ego. So, we are faced with the Reality of Happiness now, not something to be found tomorrow. And so, we come across Truth now, with Happiness now, in this instant. This is the Nature of your Being. This is present when there is no more seeking, when there is no more searching, when there is no longer any movement in this idea of achieving.

This is the subject here with you within this channel. We have online meetings where we are investigating this, delving into this with you. They take place on weekends; you can find our WhatsApp link in the video description to participate in these meetings. So, I want to leave this invitation here for you. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and also retreats. So, if this is something that makes sense to you, go ahead and leave your “like” and subscribe to the channel, ok? And we'll see each other. Thanks for the meeting and see you soon!

Psychological suffering. Psychological disorder. Awareness of Self-Knowledge. Psychological time

I want to discuss with you the matter of life, of action in life. In general, most of us consider life as something to be conquered, we need to conquer life. For us, living means fighting, so life is achieved, life is conquered. We carry these ideas, for example, of carrying out projects, making dreams come true, achieving goals. For us, this is a very, very reasonable thing. And we believe that it is through struggle, through effort that we can achieve these purposes. I, here, want to invite you to a moment of challenge, because we need, at this moment, to put aside our ideas, beliefs, and investigate further this issue here.

The question is: “Why do we make an effort? Why do we need to fight?” I would like to draw your attention to one point here: have you ever observed that, in your life, the moments of greatest inspiration, of greatest lightness, of greatest stillness, of greatest tranquility, in them something happened, but without any effort? And, looking carefully, you must have perceived that your participation as someone present was very small for that to happen. And why does this happen? And why does this happen? Because moments like writing a song, a poem, painting a painting or simply being in front of a sunset or at night looking at the stars or the moon, at that moment you are in a moment of lightness, stillness, creativity and there is something happening there… and your participation is minimal or none. And yet, Something is present, something is happening, and there is no struggle, no effort.

The question for you here is: is it possible for us to discover life without effort, without struggle? Here, I am not talking about conquering life. This idea of achieving, of accomplishing projects, dreams and goals, the purpose of these achievements is exactly that Something. All the purposes we have in these accomplishments, in these dreams or achievements are, basically, to be happy, to be exactly in this moment of Stillness, Peace, Silence, Joy, and Love. Notice that, through effort and struggle, through a project, through a dream, through a plan, you cannot achieve this Joy, this Happiness, this absence of restlessness. It is precisely when there is no struggle, no effort – when life is happening and your participation does not enter – that it occurs, that it happens.

Notice how interesting what we are putting here for you is. We have been educated, conditioned within our culture, within this so-called “humanity”, as human beings, to look at life and face life as something that needs to be conquered, accomplished, achieved. This is what our desires, dreams, and projects are. All of this is personal, all of this is within, in fact, a model of an egocentric identity that, actually, as an egoic entity, sees itself as separate from life, having life as something separate from itself. That's how we feel.

So, we were educated, trained, and taught from childhood to grow. We were told, as children, the following: “You will grow up and you already have to have a goal.” That’s why we were asked: “What do you want to become when you grow up?” Notice how interesting our relationship with children is, the relationship that, as children, we had with our parents... children are not interested in being, they have no idea of the need to grow – in what to be after growing up. They have no idea about being, they are what they are, and they are not dissatisfied or unhappy with what they are. This is being, they don't need to become – to grow and become. They are already being, without any idea of growing, without any idea of becoming.

Our life, at this moment, consists of this movement. We have the world in its psychological disorder, in its internal unhappiness, in its desires, and fears. The condition of human beings in the world, in life, is one of suffering. Suffering is present because we are overwhelmed with fear, in this psychological condition of unhappiness, living in this time that thought has created within us: the idea of past, present, and future. “I am not, but I will be. I haven’t, but I will.” This has put us in this condition, in a condition of looking at life and seeing life as something separate from who we are, and we need to achieve something in life to find life.

So, this sense of an identity is always present which is the “I,” the ego, separating itself from life and having this belief, which is the belief common to all of us, the result of conditioning that has been given to us since childhood, that we need to become, since we are not; we need to have it, since we don't have it. Thus, there is all this burden, the weight of this present identity, which is the “I.” Notice how fascinating it is to look at ourselves and discover what it means to be with what is presented here, without any idea of coming to be, but to look at what is presented here, without any idea of effort and struggle to alter it, to change it. Then, this opens a door. At that moment a door opens when we are before what is, without any idea about what it should be.

Notice how important it is for us to investigate our current condition, our true psychological condition of being, by becoming aware of this internal dissatisfaction, if what we have present is anxiety, anguish, fear, some form of psychological suffering. Learning to deal with it, looking at it as it is, without any idea of coming to be. Thus, we come across this moment. Note that, in general, in this dissatisfaction, in this unhappiness, which has this form of representation – it can be anxiety, anguish, fear – this dissatisfaction, this restlessness, we want to get rid of it based on this idea of coming to be. So, we put ourselves in the fight, we make an effort, we throw ourselves into this illusion of psychological time to reach the end for this condition. Thus, we project Happiness tomorrow, Love tomorrow, Peace tomorrow, Freedom tomorrow, achieving this by effort and struggle.

The question is: Is this possible? Through effort, through struggle, can we find Happiness? Is it true that Joy is the result of effort? Have you ever observed that the moments, exactly, of Joy – as we have just put here a short while ago, of Stillness and Silence – in those moments there was no effort, there was Something happening without you in that desire, in that doing, in that effort, in that intention. You may ask, “What are you talking about?” I'm talking about the Truth of simply noticing what is here without resisting, without fighting, without making an effort, becoming aware of that state, when you don't separate yourself from the state. And we separate ourselves from that state when we move psychologically into this illusion of getting rid of, doing something, achieving something, eliminating it.

When we learn the science of looking at this internal movement, which is the movement of the “I,” of the ego in its dissatisfaction with what is present here – I will repeat: it can be sadness, it can be anguish, it can be the emptiness of loneliness – when we do not strive to become, but we are that, without any ideal, without any belief, without any thought about it... what happens when we are with what is, with what shows itself? The truth is that, psychologically, we are divided. We always have an ideal, a thought about how life should be, about how everything could happen. Then, this puts us psychologically in the illusion of time. We have this psychological time, we have this idea, this thought, this ideal of coming to be, while we are not paying attention to what is, here. So, we are not in contact with Being. Psychologically, we are divided in this ideal of becoming. This effort and this struggle to achieve, to accomplish, is always accompanied by conflicts and all forms of suffering.

Notice that human beings never stop seeking Happiness. The truth about this is that there is a type of happiness idealized by him or her. They don't stop looking for love. So, there is an idea, a type of love that they project. Then, we spend a lifetime on this idea of achieving, accomplishing, becoming, without ever being aware of what is happening here and now, within each one of us. This is all part of a movement of escape. We have different escape mechanisms from what is, from what is here, from what is shown, from what is presented.

Here, we want to tell you that it is possible, indeed, to become aware of the Truth of this Being that we are now, at this instant. When we stay with what is, we perceive the end to it. We can go beyond what it is, because this is what shows itself to be, what it seems to be. Something beyond what is, what it demonstrates to be, what it seems to be. When we are with the reality of this existential void, this pain of loneliness, this anguish, fear or anxiety, it becomes possible to discover something beyond the “I,” beyond the ego, therefore, beyond this psychological condition. Because that is the psychological condition of being, it is not Reality, it is not Truth, it is not this indescribable thing beyond that conditioning.

This condition of psychophysical being, this condition of this psychological being, the egoic mind, this sense of the “I” present, is not the Reality of What we are. It is what we demonstrate to be, what we seem to be, what we manifest ourselves to be at this moment. But, if we abandon the fight, if we abandon effort, if we abandon this idea of becoming, of achieving, of altering, of changing this by using this model, which is the model of the “I”… If we learn to look at what is here – when we pay attention to this movement that is the movement of thought, feeling, emotion, the way of feeling, the way of perceiving –, if we pay attention to this movement that is the movement of the “I” – which lives in this idea “I was, I am, and I will be” –, when we pay attention to this movement, this model of psychological time, of ego-identity, of identity of the “I,” in this illusion of “I was, I am, and I will be,” the awareness of this is Self-Knowledge.

This attention on this movement is the end of this condition. Then, Something new is present. It is the end of this psychological time, it is the end of this coming to be, it is the end of this being that we believe to be, it is Reality showing itself. Then, we have the creator moment. Then, Lightness, Stillness, Love, Happiness, Peace, the Truth that is the Reality of the Unknown, which is the Divine Reality, which is the Reality of God, reveal themselves at this instant. It's not about becoming. It's about the end of this idea of this “I” that is always moving in this illusion, in the illusion of time, in this struggle, in this effort, in this achieving, in this accomplishing, in this model of obtaining later, tomorrow, in the future, at some point, something. We are before the Reality of Life, the Reality of God, the Reality of What is nameless, indescribable.

So, this approach to the Truth of Self-Knowledge is the Liberation of psychological time, the Liberation of this sense of “I,” of this ego-identity in effort and struggle. This is our purpose here, within this channel: to discover the Truth of What we are beyond this sense of the “I,” of the ego in its struggle, in its effort. For this purpose, we have online meetings here, on weekends, to go deeper into this. You can find our WhatsApp link here in the video description to participate in these meetings. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and also retreats. If this is something that makes sense to you, go ahead and leave your “like” here and subscribe to the channel, Ok? And see you. Thanks for the meeting and until next time.
