What are we actually looking for? What are we actually seeking for? We live in a world where there is confusion, disorder and suffering, so there is, undeniably, a search, there is a search. But I want to investigate with you here whether this search is for Truth, for Reality or if it is the search, the search for some form of satisfaction, of fulfillment that brings us a new level of fulfillment, since we have experienced some moments of satisfaction, we have tried some forms of fulfillments at different times in our lives. But it seems to me that none of these satisfactions, fulfillments or achievements have truly become something permanent.
So, what are we actually looking for? What are we actually looking for? Can one seek the Truth, can one seek the Reality, can one seek the Truth of God? It seems to me that this is not our purpose in this search, in this pursuit.
Therefore, the human being is not in this pursuit or in search of Truth, Reality, one is not in search of God. We are, yes, in a search, in search of some level of fulfillment and satisfaction that is permanent. In this search we are moving from one religion to another religion, from one philosophical system to another, from one spiritualist ideology to another. So, this search for God, for Truth, is not true. It is the search for satisfaction, for something that fulfills us on a permanent basis. Since the external achievements seem to have all failed, we are now in search of something so called “spiritual,” but it is not the pursuit or the search for Truth. It is the search for a satisfaction within what we call spirituality.
So, it would be interesting for us to investigate some things here. The first of them is: can the Truth be found? Is it possible to find Happiness? Is it possible to find God? See, we can seek something that gives us a fulfillment, an accomplishment, a permanent satisfaction, but is there actually such a thing too? So, notice what a delicate situation this is for the seeker, the one who searches.
The first is that we cannot find something that is truly permanent under the name of Happiness, under the name of Truth, under the name of God. It is not possible to find what we designed as something permanent. So, this so-called “satisfaction” or “fulfillment” that we project into an idea, into an image that we create about God, about Truth, about Reality, if that is what human beings are truly looking for within spirituality, one will not find it. And why can we say this, that we cannot find something permanent? Because there is no permanence in any achievement, in any level of fulfillment, in any level of satisfaction. This is because it is the nature of an accomplishment, a fulfillment or a satisfaction, impermanence is the nature of this. So, that's the first point.
The second point is that this Truth, Reality or God is not something that could be found. We cannot find God. We cannot find Reality. We cannot find Truth. What becomes possible is the realization of Reality, the realization of God, the realization of Truth. However, for this to become possible, we need to discover who this seeker is. Notice what an important thing there is for us to see.
We need, before going on a search for fulfillment in satisfaction, in accomplishment, on some level – since we tried materially and it still didn't work, and now we are looking for spiritually – we need to first ask who is the one who seeks, who is the one who is in search of something that is permanent, whether in achievement, fulfillment or satisfaction. Here we also have to ask who is this one who is in this quest or in this search of Truth, God or Reality.
So, we have ideas about what this search is, and we can be in an idea, in this search, naming this search as the search for Truth, for God, for Reality and, however, we are in search of a permanent fulfillment, permanent achievement, a permanent satisfaction. This is what human beings are looking for. But here we are faced with a huge difficulty, which is the non-understanding of the truth about the person who is on this search. That's why we can have different names for this quest, and we can have different feelings about it. Both the feelings and the names will be saying absolutely nothing, because the basis of this search has not been understood. What is the basis of this search? It is the one who seeks. Who is this who seeks?
Without first having an understanding of ourselves – and the truth is that we don't know who we are, we don't know what is going on here, inside each one of us, we don't know the movement of thought, feeling, emotion, the way of perceiving , this way of feeling life, everything that surrounds us, what is inside and what is outside –, not understanding ourselves, not seeing what we are is ignorance, it is the basis of all this search; a search that is based within this ignorance.
Our dissatisfaction has produced in us this pursuit, this search. So, in our search, based on this ignorance for satisfaction, we can have moments of satisfaction. So, this is how we have been engaged in this search. We don't actually know what we are seeking, because we don't know the truth about who we are. So, based on this illusion, on this lack of knowledge about ourselves, we are attached to this search, this quest.
Thus, we are unaware of the truth of who we are and, naturally, the true nature of this dissatisfaction; a dissatisfaction that is in search of fulfillment, of a permanent fulfillment. That's what we need to see here together. We need to discover the Truth, we need to discover Reality, we need to discover God, but we cannot find this within this project, this idealization, this movement in this search that has this dissatisfaction as its principle; a dissatisfaction that we want to get rid of by wanting to find something that fulfills us and fulfills us permanently. We cannot achieve this without first having an understanding of the Truth about who we are.
So, this is what we are proposing here for you within this channel. So, we need to discover the Truth about who we are. Knowing ourselves, knowing this “I,” this “me,” this person who is on this search. The Realization of God, the Realization of Truth, this Realization of Reality, this represents the end to this dissatisfaction, this is the end to this continuity, this search to get rid of this dissatisfaction by achieving a satisfaction, a fulfillment, an accomplishment.
What is this something that we want to find in this satisfaction, fulfillment? We want to find Happiness. However, note, Happiness is not something findable, just like Truth, God or Reality. This is not something findable. Here in these meetings, we are studying the Truth about who we are, understanding this way of feeling, thinking, acting, and moving in the world. Studying oneself is the closest, most realistic thing we have, for an approach to God, Truth and, therefore, Happiness, which is not a project that is carried out when seeking permanent fulfillment, permanent accomplishment, a permanent satisfaction.
The Reality of That which we are when that which we demonstrate to be, that we express to be at that moment in our relationships, the end to this condition of that which we demonstrate to be and express to be within our relationships – relationships with people, relationships with ourselves, relationships with life –, the end of this old condition, of this illusory identity as we show ourselves to be at this moment, the end for this is the emergence of Something new, of Something indescribable, which is the Reality of That which we are when that which we present to be, that we demonstrate to be, that we appear to be, that we are within this illusory condition, is no longer present.
So, what is the truth of our search, of our quest? The truth about this is that we are searching for Reality, for Truth, for God, which is Real Happiness, but this lies in this encounter with the Truth of That which we are when what we demonstrate to be, when what we appear to be, when what we present ourselves to be is no longer present. Then, this Divine Reality shows itself. So, the idea of “someone” to find is a great illusion. One who seeks is an illusion. How can this illusion, which is the one who seeks, find something else? The one who seeks, this “I” who is in this search, is just a movement of thought, of imagination, of conditioning, projecting itself into an idea, into an imagination.
Here the invitation is to discover how to look at ourselves. So, this whole idea of something permanent to be found within this imagination, which is the imagination of this “I” projecting itself into its ideas, is an illusion. Your work consists of becoming aware of what you are, understanding yourself, understanding yourself in life, perceiving the illusion of this sense of someone present who separates himself from living, who separates himself from life, who separates himself from this extraordinary movement, which is this movement of Existence; to become aware of this element that is the “I,” the ego, this “me” that separates itself and projects itself into an idea, a belief, a concept of something to be found, of something to be acquired for oneself.
So, knowing yourself is the basis for going beyond this illusion, it is what is fundamental, it is the only thing, to have this encounter. Happiness is not findable, but the realization of the truth of this illusion that we seem to be shows us the Reality of this Happiness, which is not findable because you cannot find it in time. But we have the Vision, the Revelation of Happiness that shows itself here, in this moment, when this sense of “I,” of the ego, is no longer present.
This is not a permanent satisfaction, this is the end of this sense of an “I,” of the ego, of an illusory identity that lives within a dissatisfaction, lives within a condition of incompleteness, because it sees itself as an entity separate from life and therefore burdened with fear. Where there is this sense of separation, the presence of this duality in this idea “I and Existence,” “I and Life,” “I and living,” “I and the other,” “I and Reality,” “I and God,” “I and Happiness,” when this is present, we have the presence of fear. So, at this level of egoic existence, of egoic quality of life, dissatisfaction is present.
The Reality of That which is God, the Reality of That which is You in your Being is not something within time, it is not something within this movement of becoming, of achieving, of accomplishing – accomplishing tomorrow, becoming tomorrow, achieving tomorrow. So, we are dealing with something here with you that represents the end of suffering, the end of illusion, the end of this “I,” the ego. So, we are faced with the Reality of Happiness now, not something to be found tomorrow. And so, we come across Truth now, with Happiness now, in this instant. This is the Nature of your Being. This is present when there is no more seeking, when there is no more searching, when there is no longer any movement in this idea of achieving.
This is the subject here with you within this channel. We have online meetings where we are investigating this, delving into this with you. They take place on weekends; you can find our WhatsApp link in the video description to participate in these meetings. So, I want to leave this invitation here for you. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and also retreats. So, if this is something that makes sense to you, go ahead and leave your “like” and subscribe to the channel, ok? And we'll see each other. Thanks for the meeting and see you soon!
