Self-awareness and the end of suffering | Non-Duality, Advaita Vedanta | Kundalini Awakening

Self-awareness and the end of suffering – our subject with you today. The Truth about Your Being... What is the Truth about who you are? It seems to me that the answer to this question is resolved in this matter of Self-awareness. The solution of this question by Self-awareness is simultaneously the end of suffering.

We suffer because we don't know the Truth about who we are, we don't assume the Truth about ourselves, we don't assume Non-Duality, which is the Nature of our own Being. That Nature of our own Being is Consciousness, and that Consciousness is Non-Dual.

There is only Consciousness. This Consciousness is the Truth of God, the Truth of your Being. Here, we are at an impasse. In reality, a problem that we cannot solve until we have this true basis in our lives, which is the basis of Self-awareness.

We are faced with a problem of seeing ourselves as an individual, an identity separate from other people and the world around us. The person we see is the person we believe ourselves to be. That person is separate from the other, from others, from life, from the world – that is the problem. We will never resolve the Truth about who we are without first investigating the illusion about who we believe we are.

This illusion is the illusion of “the person I am.” There is no “person.” Life is a Whole, and in It there is no division, no separation. There is no such multiplicity. This diversity, all of it... this multiplicity of things, people, places, objects, is an appearance in that One, Unique Presence, which is Consciousness. This Consciousness is the Nature of Being, it is the Nature of everything, it is the Whole, it is Life.

This sounds, at first, like a belief, or it causes us, at first, a huge disbelief. That does not matter, what matters here is that you investigate this and for yourself discover the Truth of That which is there in the Vedas, in Advaita Vedanta: the Truth of Non-Duality, of Non-Separation, the Truth that there is nothing separate, nothing exists outside of that one Reality, that one Truth, that one Presence, which is that Consciousness, which is God.

We feel ourselves being people and we live like people, we act like people, we think like people, we talk like people, we choose like people.

Our whole model is the “person” model. This is a belief, a psychological conditioning. Our parents lived like this, our grandparents, our great-grandparents, our ancestors – everyone around us is living within this model, this same circuit, this programming, this format.

The Truth of Self-awareness reveals to you that this duality – which is what sustains this multiplicity of things that, psychologically, you believe to exist as separate things, persons and entities – vanishes because of the view of Self-awareness. This is a belief to be investigated.

Let’s go a little deeper into this with you.

Thought, in us, is the result of a mechanical movement of the brain. The brain, in a mechanical, biologically mechanical way, brings these representations of images, ideas, pictures. This is nothing but remembrances, memories.

And this so-called movement of the mind, which is nothing but the movement of thought itself, is simply memory, a mechanical and unconscious movement in each of us.

You, as the person you believe you are, are bored, worried, anxious, nervous, stressed, angry, afraid. There are moments of pleasure, joy, satisfaction, psychological and emotional fulfillment, but also many moments of sadness, anguish, unhappiness, and you don't know exactly what to do with that.

We don't know ourselves; we don't know ourselves. We are not in control, as thought tries to make us believe. Notice: you don't control thoughts, they happen. If you controlled thoughts, you would think what you want to think. This is not true. Thought is an event in you, for you, but there is no you producing it, there is no you controlling it, there is no you making it happen or getting rid of it – it happens.

You never know what the next thought will be, because actually you don't produce that thought, it appears. It appears from that backdrop of memory, which is a mere mechanical reaction, a psychological, mechanical reaction, to this instant, to this moment.

You listen to something and you don't even realize you're listening, you don't have the slightest awareness or consciousness that you're listening to something, and that’s enough to produce a thought. This is a mechanical process of the brain itself. And then comes a second, a third, and a fourth. You see a scene, a thought arises... You didn't choose to see it, you didn't choose to hear it, just as you didn't choose that thought, that specific thought to appear. It appeared from that background, from that memory, from that conditioning.

We function like that in this “I”. This “I” is nothing but this movement of thought. To this movement of thought we are giving the name “I.” To this movement of memory, of remembrances, we are giving the name of “I.”

“Who are you?” You say: “I am So and So” – that is a name, a memory, a remembrance. You are going to tell a story of this “I,” but this “I,” you see, is just a memory. It is nothing but a memory. And that thought is not free. It is mechanical, it is a conditioned movement, it is an uncontrolled internal movement.

That explains this internal chatter, this constant chattering inside your head. It sounds like a voice speaking. Sometimes a second voice appears; sometimes they argue...

So, the thoughts, in each one of us, are chaotic. We are confusing ourselves with these thoughts, firmly believing in this identity that speaks, that thinks, that acts, that reacts, that gets sad, that gets upset, that gets stressed, that gets disturbed, that worries. There is no Self-awareness!

And without Self-awareness, there cannot be the Realization of that Oneness, of that Reality, which is the One, unique Consciousness, which is the Consciousness of God, which is your True Nature, which is your Real Nature.

So, we lack Self-awareness, we lack the Realization of the Truth about who we are, we lack the Vision of our own Being, we lack the Perception of Reality. We are not in touch with Life as It is.

Our contact with Life is the contact from that backdrop of psychological conditioning that separates itself from Life and sees itself as a separate entity, with beliefs, with absurd beliefs. One of them is freedom of choice, will, power, ability, determination… Here, I am referring to this illusion of free will. For whom is this free will? Who is this idea for? For whom is this belief?

Actions happen and the consequences of actions also follow. They are happening and the consequences are also happening for this organism, for this mechanism, but this is not born of an identity present in the experience, but in the illusion of an identity present here and now in this experience.

It is this “I” that suffers, it is this apparent “I” that chooses and receives the consequences of its choices.

The Truth of who You are is the end of confusion of illusion, the end of disorder and suffering.

So, when there is Self-awareness, a door opens to the end of suffering, because the door that opens through Self-awareness is the door that reveals to you that, beyond this illusion of the “I,” your Being remains free from that model, which is the model of thought. This is revealed in True Meditation.

That’s what we've been dealing with here on this channel. We are talking to you about Spiritual Enlightenment, Spiritual Awakening. And the direct path passes through Self-awareness and the Realization of the Truth of your Being, through True Meditation. Here, I am referring to Meditation in practice, in your living, in your day to day, in this instant, in this moment.

Realizing that it is thought that brings this sensation along with it, and realizing that this thought and feeling, or this present sensation, is nothing but a conditioning, an experience; realizing that there is no identity present in it – that is possible, that is Self-awareness.

This puts the principle of True Meditation into practice – looking at that thought-feeling without rejecting it, without fighting it, without trying to make something of it, without getting confused with it.

In general, we judge, we reject, we want to get rid of, or we subject ourselves to this condition, giving identity, identifying ourselves with it. So, that sense of “I” is present in that experience. So, every movement from that point on is the movement of the ego, it’s the movement of that “me.” That is the egocentric activity in us, that is the active model of egocentrism, of the sense of individuality.

That sense, which is a great illusion, the illusion of individuality, is present in that self-centered activity, and that brings about conflict, suffering.

So, the condition, without Self-awareness, is of unhappiness. The Awakening of Wisdom is the Awakening of Love. The Sages call this “Kundalini Awakening,” which is the Awakening of that Energy, which is the Divine Energy, which is the Energy of God.

That present is the end of the illusion of separation, it is the end of duality, it is the end of the “me.” Our business here is always showing you the beauty of Advaita, of Non-Duality. That’s straight from the Vedas, it’s there in Advaita Vedanta. The Truth of your Being is Happiness.

The subject here of Real Practical Meditation – we have a playlist to investigate and delve into...

The beauty of Kundalini Awakening... and people also don't understand what Kundalini means, they confuse it with a series of fantasies, beliefs, imaginations...

Kundalini is none other than that Presence itself, that Consciousness of Oneness, of Non-Separation. That Energy works in the body, creating a profound change, and thus that Natural State, which is Consciousness, is established.

That’s our job here with you. We are working on the Freedom of your Natural State, free from the “I”, from the ego, from all that egocentric activity, from that model of egocentrism. Then, the Love, Peace, Truth, Happiness of your Being is realized. OK?

If this is something that makes sense to you, leave your “like” there, subscribe to the channel... Reminder: we have online meetings and also face-to-face meetings, including retreats. And you can be part of it!
