Joel Goldsmith | Living Now | How to free ourselves from suffering? | Marcos Gualberto

GC: Hello, everyone! We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto is here with us. Thank you, Master, for being here. Today I am going to read an excerpt from a book by Joel Goldsmith called "Living Now." In an excerpt from this book, Master, Joel makes the following comment: "The more we live with it, the less we look at the body and the less we fear our pains and sufferings." In this excerpt, Joel comments on the issue of suffering. Can the Master share his vision on how we to free ourselves from suffering?

MG: Gilson, here we come across a very frequent question. but what is suffering? Who is this element present in suffering? If, in fact, we want to discover the truth for the end of this psychological condition - because let's comprehend one thing: suffering is based on this psychological model that is, in fact, the existence of the "I," the existence of this "me," of this person. It is the psychological condition of this sense of being someone that sustains suffering.

There is a difference between physical pain and a psychological condition of pain. This psychological condition is the condition of suffering. When you have physical pain, it is pain in the body, in some part of the body. Yes, this pain is a form of suffering. When we touch on this issue of suffering, suffering in this psychological condition in which we, as human beings, find ourselves, is the suffering of the mind, it is psychic suffering, it is this psychological condition present in the "I."

You ask how to get rid of suffering. By getting rid of this psychological condition, which is the condition of an identity present in life, at this moment, as a separate element of life itself. The condition of suffering needs to be studied, investigated, comprehended. When you have a physical illness, you take it to the doctor for treatment, for him to attend to this issue, but when you have an internal condition of suffering due to fear, mental confusion, the fact that thoughts within you are running fast and producing various forms of internal disorder - such as, for example, anxiety, guilt, depression, or various other forms of fear - dealing with this requires the presence of a direct comprehension of how this occurs, of how it happens.

You, in your Essential Nature, in your Real Nature, in your Divine Nature, are something, in fact, beyond this. something truly beyond this psychological condition, which is the condition of the "I." So, what is interesting here, is to understand what this "I" is, to understand what this condition is in which we find ourselves, with which we are confused, in order to go beyond this internal condition of suffering. So, the awareness of comprehending this is the Truth that liberates. It is not the desire to be free that liberates, but it is the Truth that liberates, it is the investigation of the Truth, it is the understanding of the Truth, it is the awareness of the Truth.

What do we need, Gilson, for this liberation? What do we need for this vision of life free from suffering? We need to have an approach to what is happening to us, to what we are, without denying, without running away, without creating theories or beliefs about it. We have just stated here, for you, that the Reality of your Being is not this, but you cannot take a statement like this and simply believe it. Based on statements like these, people start to get attached to concepts, ideas, and beliefs. So, they talk about this Divine Self, this Higher Self, this Supreme Being, but this remains only at the theoretical level, at the level of words and, therefore, of beliefs.

Here, we need to come into direct contact with what we are, with what we present ourselves to be, with the condition in which we, truly, in fact, find ourselves here. How are you at this moment? So, we put theories aside, we put beliefs aside. This Truth of this Bliss of Being, this Freedom of Being, yes, it may have already happened for A, B or C, but for "me," for this "I," at this moment, I need to investigate what is causing this pain, what is causing this suffering. See, more than the cause of the suffering itself or the cause of the pain, I need to discover the root of all this. Why is suffering here? What is this "I" that suffers? This is how we get closer to the truth about the end of suffering, Gilson. It is about comprehending this present element and the condition in which it finds itself in this relation with the present moment, with life as it happens.

We can look at fear here, jealousy, annoyance, contradiction, envy... We can look at this conflict established within us, due to the presence of desires that contradict each other. Investigating what is happening here, inside each one of us, looking at it, this is how we can break with this condition, break with this quality of life centered on this "I." Here, we are showing you that it is exactly this movement of life centered on the "I," where all of our behavior is egocentric behavior, where we are constantly repeating patterns of life, of existence, where all of this behavior in us, of ego-centeredness, is creating problems for this "me," for this "I" and, naturally, for others, for the world.

Every problem in the world concerns this problem of the "I" itself. And what is the truth about this "I"? We are dealing here with an imagination, with a construct of thought, with a condition of repetition of thought, which has given each one of us a pattern of mind that is programmed, that is conditioned, that is living within a cultural model. This human culture, this social culture, this world in which we find ourselves, lives like this, and we are just repeating it, replicating it, giving continuity to all of this.

So, what can put an end to this condition? It is the awareness of the truth about who we are. The comprehension of this entire process of "I" consciousness, of egoic consciousness. This vision of how the mind works here, in each one of us, shows us this entire pattern of egocentric activities, of behavior centered on this false identity. Wherever there is the presence of this egocentrism, this model of ego-identity, there will be a constant separation between you and the other, between you and life, between you and Divine Reality. This is the root, the true cause of suffering, but no theory about it can solve it. It is necessary to learn to look at this, to look without the past, to look without conclusions, to look without condemnation, rejection, to look without even the desire to get rid of it, since this desire to get rid of it is still part of this conditioned mind.

That is why we have been talking to you here about the presence of Meditation, which is the real way to approach the Truth about who we are, through Self-awareness. Thus, Meditation is Self-awareness. Self-awareness is Meditation. We are facing a single movement; discovering the Truth about oneself requires Self-awareness, requires Meditation.

We have a playlist on this subject here on the channel: "The Truth about Self-awareness and Real Meditation in a practical way," then you can take a look here on the channel. Comprehending the truth about oneself is the basis for the end of this suffering, because it is the end of this "I," it is the end of this ego. This is the answer to your question, this is the answer to the awareness of Bliss, to the awareness of Freedom, to the awareness of God.

GC: Master, we have a question from a subscriber here on the channel. He makes the following comment and asks: "The ego is strong and when we least expect it, it comes back in full force. What can you tell us about this? Gratitude."

MG: Gilson, notice what an interesting thing we have here. He says, the questioner here puts it this way: this statement "it is strong and comes back in full force." What is the element, Gilson, in us, that has conclusions, and on what basis are our conclusions? Don't they have a basis in experience, and isn't this basis also part of thought? What is this element of experience? And what is this element that has conclusions based on thoughts? Isn't it the movement of thought itself, which is the movement of the "I" itself? See, Gilson, one of the main things here is to learn to look at these reactions without conclusions, without ideas, without concepts, without beliefs.

As long as we are stuck in conclusions, beliefs and ideas, we will still be within a mistaken vision, which is the vision of thought itself. When you ask: "What can you tell us about this?"... We are here to present it to you! Any idea about the "I," about the ego, the idea that it is weak, that it is strong, that it goes, that it comes... any idea, any of these ideas, are ideas of thought itself. Getting closer and looking requires a look without conclusions, evaluations, beliefs, deductions and concepts, since these beliefs, concepts, deductions, conclusions, are born of the "I" itself. This is still the result of thought itself.

So, what is the real way of being in this moment, of facing this instant? In this case, in front of this experience? Looking! It is looking without someone in that look. It is perceiving! This perception is a perception without someone in that perception. It is feeling! In this feeling, it is the feeling without someone in that feeling. Obviously, this sounds quite strange to most of us, because we are always putting the intention of getting rid of it, the intention of doing something with the experience. This intention arises from the past and, therefore, arises from this very element, which is the element "I," which starts from conclusions of what is and what is not, of what is right and what is wrong.

So, can we discard all of this? This is the true way to approach Self-awareness, this is the true way to approach Meditation. Then, we can have the end of this psychological condition, which is the condition of this "I" and all these beliefs related to it, to this sense of this "me," this ego. Confusion arises because thought itself separates. Thought creates this thinker to look at thought from these conclusions, these opinions, these beliefs, and all of this is still within the movement itself, which is the movement of the "I." Letting go of this requires looking without the observer, this perceiving without the perceiver, this feeling without someone in that feeling. Then, Something new emerges. This new Something is the end of the "I," it is the end of the ego, it is the end of this illusion of separation between Reality and You.

GC: Master, we have another question from another subscriber here on the channel. Monica asks the following question: "Why is love false? How is it that we have no love to give?"

MG: No!. It seems to me that most of us have not comprehended this issue of Love. Love is not false, it is the sense of someone present in this love. The Reality of Love is Divine Reality! The sense of this "I," this ego, this "me," lives in a model of isolationism, of egocentrism, involved with its own self-interest. This whole movement of the "I," of the ego, is not the movement of Love, it is the movement of the search for something. The ego has no Love to give. The sense of the "I," the sense of the ego, lives in isolation, in a sense of separation, always looking outside in search of something. The ego in us, Gilson, is a beggar. Love is the presence of a generous king, and this generous king in Love is the Divine Presence, it is the Presence of God, it is the Presence of Truth. This sense of person, in this relation with the other, is associated with a business relation, an exchange: if I give you pleasure, you give me pleasure. In this pleasure, in this fulfillment of mutual satisfaction, we feel affection, care, while this is happening. The moment you deny me this pleasure - also this affection and care, I feel resentful, hurt, sad or angry with you.

The model of the "I" is a model of relations between images; these relations between images are business! The human being lives within a model, in this sense of the ego, of projection of search in the world out there, always for something. So, there is always this dissatisfaction, this incompleteness. The Reality of Love is the Divine Reality; when It is present, this "other" no longer exists. It is the Reality of God, it is the Reality of Truth. We have to comprehend the classic difference between the present Divine Truth, which is the presence of Love, and what we have called "love," which is in reality something filled with possession, control, dependence, attachment, desire, and fear. What we call love is associated with this acknowledgment, acceptance, pleasure, and satisfaction in this relation with him or her, but it is also filled with control, possession, attachment, desire, insecurity, fear, jealousy. suffering!

The Reality of Love carries none of this. It does not carry conflict, disorder, dependence, lack, or suffering. When there is this real awareness of Truth, of Freedom, when there is this Real awareness of Bliss, this is the Presence of your Being, but it is not the presence of this "me," this "I," this ego. The Truth about what you are in your Divine Nature, in your Essential Nature, is the presence of Love, but this Love needs nothing; It seeks nothing, It depends on nothing. It is like that flower that perfumes, but without any idea of ??being there, bringing its perfume. This sharing of the Divine Presence, of the presence of Bliss, of the presence of Freedom, is the presence of Love. This is something present in those who have realized the Truth about themselves, in those who are free from this sense of separation between themselves and life.

So, when the Truth of your Being flourishes, you are Love. It is the presence of this flower, it is the Presence of this Divine Reality. This is the Freedom of God, this is the Freedom of Bliss present in this Self-Realization, in this Awakening of Consciousness, in this Divine Vision, which some call Spiritual Enlightenment. To assume this in this life is to assume the Truth for which you were born. You were born for Love, you were not born to search, to seek, to want based on feelings, emotions, sensations. The Truth of this Divine Reality is something indescribable, it is something that is beyond everything that thought knows, beyond everything that feelings and emotions can identify.

Our great confusion lies in confusing this feeling, thinking, emotion, sensation. something present in this body and mind, when we identify it as some kind of satisfaction or pleasure with the presence of Love. Love is not pleasure, love is not a sensation, love is not a wish fulfilled, love is not fulfillment in him or her. Love is the presence of That which is indescribable. It is possible to realize this, but never describe it. It is possible to assume this in this life, but never put it into words, such is the singularity, such is the Beauty of the presence of this Grace, of this King, of this Truth, which is the Truth of God, which is the Truth of Love.

GC: Gratitude, gratitude, Master. Our time has come to an end... Gratitude for yet another videocast. And for you who are following the videocast until the end and truly have a sincere desire to experience these truths, and for whom what Master Gualberto is sharing makes sense, I invite you to participate in the intensive weekend meetings that the Master shares. In these meetings, which are held online, in person, and also as retreats, Master Gualberto, in addition to answering our questions directly, live, something much greater and more profound than that happens. Because Master Gualberto already lives in this Awakened State of Consciousness, he ends up sharing a State of Presence that is pure Power and Grace. And in this energy of the Master's Presence, just by being in His presence, we end up riding along with this energy of the Master's Presence. And this Presence is pure Silence, pure Stillness, pure Meditation. So, it is truly revealing to be able to be in Satsang - which is the name of these meetings - and to be able to have a vision of what is beyond intellectual understanding. So, here is the invitation. In the first pinned comment there is the WhatsApp link to participate in these meetings. Give a "like" to the video and subscribe to the channel. And Master, once again, thank you for the videocast.
