The psychological fears: the ego structure | Self-image | Mindfulness | How to get rid of fear?

Hello guys! Welcome to another meeting here on our channel!

The question is: how to get rid of fear? How to get rid of fear? There is another interesting question which is: how to deal with anxiety?

You see, anxiety is a form of fear. We have many reactions within us because of the presence of fear in each of us.

Here, we are going to investigate a few things regarding the end of this suffering. How to put an end to this psychological suffering? The question is: how to realize the Truth about who we are? How to go beyond this condition of egoic identity?

Our life has been guided by a belief: the belief about who we are, the idea about who we are.

So, we have an image, we have a picture, we have a photograph of who we are. Common conditioning is the idea of an identity present here, an individual consciousness in each of us. This individual consciousness is a belief, and what we attribute to this consciousness, in reality, is just an imagination, an image in action, an image in a relationship with life, with the world, with the other.

It is part of this work of Spiritual Awakening, of Spiritual Enlightenment, to investigate the nature of ourselves, the Truth about who we are.

The illusion upon which our life, our existence, is based, this illusion is the “me,” the “I,” the ego. This needs to be investigated. That’s why this conclusion of a present identity, of an individual consciousness, this consciousness in each of us, is completely false.

All that exists in this psychological world is this consciousness common to all, and there lies the very important question to be investigated, and that is what we will do now, in a few minutes, here with you.

I mean fear. Is it possible to have a life free from fear? Here the question is about how to deal with anxiety, but here I want to refer to fear, fear in general. Fear is something present in each of us. Human beings, however educated they may be, however learned they may be, always carry fear.

The scientist is someone respected in his laboratory, making his discoveries, doing his scientific research, however, when he comes home, he is just someone present in a relationship with his wife, still loaded with fear. In the relationship with his children, he is still a person like any other, also full of fear. Fear in the relationship with the wife, in the relationship with the children, in the relationship with his family… Maybe he’s even afraid of the dark.

We have a lot of psychological fears within ourselves, and we haven't learned to deal with them. We are not aware of this. As a result, we continue to suffer.

Anxiety is the presence of fear, but depression is also another form of fear, the pain of loneliness is a form of fear, insomnia is also fear. Note, we call it by different names, we give it several names, we call a single thing by different names: fear.

And fear is sustained in this “I,” in this “me.” And what is this “me” basically? The sense of separateness, an identity present in a relationship with another, with life, with existence, in conflict. An inadequacy is the presence of this “me,” this “I,” this egoic sense.

In this relationship with life, there is contradiction, there is all this despair, there is all this confusion, there is all this disorder. This occurs within each of us. So, we are loaded with fear – it is the fear of the other, it is the fear of yourself… thought produces different fears. There is this internal dialogue, this internal monologue, “the memory of what happened to me yesterday and I am afraid it will happen again today or tomorrow.”

Note that fear is based on memory, on remembrance, on recollection, it is the basis of this image that “I” bring, that “I” have, that “I” have of “myself” and that “I” have of the other. That image is fear.

First, how is this fear formed? How is this image that sustains fear in relationships formed? Not only biological, physiological fear – this fear is something natural, it’s instinctive, it’s biological; it is the fear, in this organism, of self-preservation. When facing a precipice or a snake, a venomous animal, there is a withdrawal, there is a reaction in the body of self-protection, of self-defense, in the face of imminent danger or something that could cause damage to the body, in some way, then there is this fear. But there are these other fears, which are the psychological fears, established within the ego structure, this self-image. And how does that form?

You see, always in contact with something or with some experience, something is always registered here, in this mechanism, in this organism, in this brain. When you come across someone never seen before, immediately there is a reaction in each of us, to “take a picture” of that person, because the egoic sense always carries the fear of the new. When facing that person again, the ego needs to feel comfortable, needs to recognize itself in that relationship. When it’s the first time, it “takes a picture.”

The relationship may only take a few seconds, a few minutes, but it is enough for a “picture to be taken” and a psychological conclusion to take place within each of us. This creates an image, and in the next contact, the contact will be a contact between these images, and it will be that contact… it will be happening based on that separateness, which is basically conflict, because there is this self-protection, there is this self-defense, there is this fear, there is this caution.

Here, I refer to this psychological self-protection. From a biological point of view, the presence of fear in this organism is natural, the intention to protect oneself, to protect the body, but there is this psychological structure of egoic self-defense, of egocentric self-defense.

The image is formed exactly like this: when I meet you, you give me a compliment. It creates an image – I like you. From then on, I'm your friend. But when I meet you and realize that you are hostile to my ideas, to my beliefs, because you don't approve of what I feel, what I think, that also forms an image, and if you insult me, that creates an image too.

So, we are always forming images, keeping images of each other. Our life in the ego is a life based on the image, the self-image; it sustains the fear. So, the question arises: “But how to deal with anxiety?” The correct question would be: “How to deal with fear?”

Here, the objective of our meetings is to show you how to realize, in yourself, a work of Self-awareness. Self-awareness is the recognition of this principle of separateness, of duality, between you and the other, between you and life; its principle is to show you how to get rid of this sense of separateness, how to get rid of this self-image, how to free yourself from this egoic identity, from the illusion of “someone” present here and now, in this experience, which is the experience of life.

So, it is possible to go beyond the ego; it is possible to go beyond the “I;” so, it is possible to go beyond the illusion of fear. Here, I am referring to this psychological fear.

Note that this has been the cause of suffering for many of us – this inner condition of contradiction, of conflict. All this can be broken.

Our work together is for us to become aware of the Truth about who we are. And the Truth about who we are is the Reality free from the ego, free from the “I,” free from this self-image, free of this psychological condition.

So, the perception of the present reality here and now … Whatever is happening, we can learn to deal with it without this image formation. If someone, for example, tells you “You are an idiot! You are useless!”, there is an immediate emotional reaction upon hearing this. This creates an image. So “I” don't like you. Whenever “I” meet you, that image will be there, it will come first than anything else: “This is a hostile, detestable, unpleasant person!”

The image you have of someone like that is something inside you, the conflict is something inside you. This was created at a time similar to this. Somehow an emotional reaction took place and you didn't notice it, you weren't aware of it, aware of it the moment it happened, and so this image was formed.

Here, when there is Self-awareness, which is becoming aware of yourself here and now, whatever is happening, you are becoming aware of that experience, giving attention, presence. And when that happens, that sense of duality, of that “I,” when that experience arises, doesn't appear. And if this sense of duality does not appear, the formation of this image does not appear, it does not appear at that moment, it is not “photographed” at that moment, it is not kept at that moment. This is because of this full attention. This is called mindfulness – this awareness of being present here and now.

Note that this is the basis of True Meditation – being aware of yourself, as pure Consciousness, without an identity present in that experience. So, there is no such emotional reaction; thus, this image formation does not occur and this “photograph” is not saved. So, you are free from that sense of “I” in that experience.

It is necessary to learn to look without the observer, to listen without this listener. You have to learn to be aware of yourself here and now, moment by moment. So, seeing happens, hearing happens, just like talking happens, without the implication of a present identity to gain something from it, to get rid of something with it.

This sense of “I,” when it appears in each one of us, is to censure, to criticize, to judge, to evaluate, to agree, to disagree, and all these are reactions from the past, reactions of feeling, emotion, of sensation, already based on this image. Not only is a new image formed, but for that image that is already formed, new things are being added day after day, day after day.

But when there is this attention, there is this state of Presence, there is this state of Consciousness, of full attention. That full attention is mindfulness – it’s the English word for full attention. This Consciousness, this Presence is the True Meditation.

So, the question: how to deal with anxiety? Noting that when the state is present you can either react to it or you can just be aware of that state. This state that presents itself is like any other experience presenting itself. You can react to it or you can be aware, in this attention, conscious, in this moment, of this state, without putting in this element that compares, that judges, that rejects, that wants to get rid of.

Faced with a pattern of negative emotion, facing a frame, the first reaction of this “I” is to get rid of it, not to welcome it, to reject it, to fight against it. When you do this, you strengthen the sense of “someone” present in this experience. In other words, you strengthen the state. It is not seen, it is not recognized as it is. It is a state, but there is no “someone” within it; it is a pain, but there is no “someone” in that pain.

This happens with thought. Thoughts are chattering inside your head, and you don't observe them. You are always identifying with the next thought. Thought walks in a line: one comes, you identify yourself; another comes up, you identify yourself. You are never or hardly ever aware of what is going on inside you. Only, you get confused, you get entangled with, you identify with that thought, then this one, another one, and that and that, and that one comes up.

So, there’s this compulsive thinking, compulsive thinking… Dealing with compulsive thinking is like dealing with anxiety, it’s like dealing with fear, it’s like dealing with any other psychological condition.

An approach to this is necessary, not a separation through judgment, rejection in an attempt to get rid of it. This sustains the duality, the illusory duality of “someone” present in this pattern, this sensation, this thought, this experience.

When there is a thought, there is no thinker. Thoughts compulsively arise within you, they are compulsive thoughts. Dealing with these thoughts means being aware of their presence, that thought, because it is one at a time. You say, “That’s a million thoughts!” No, it’s not, it’s one thought now… you're aware of it. You don't react, you don't fight, you don't corroborate, you're not against, you're not for; you just watch.

So, the space for Meditation opens when there is this full attention, and when that opens, there is a space for Consciousness, for Silence, for Presence. So, it is possible for the brain to be still, there is stillness, because there is no struggle, there is no conflict, there is no duality. This welcoming without being confused with the experience, but only in this observation, reveals something extraordinary, reveals this Silence, the Silence of the Presence, of this Consciousness.

This is the end of duality, this is the end of this experience of this anxious “me,” this fearful “me,” this thinking “me.” And when that happens, that experience languishes, because it doesn't have the energy to sustain itself.

Then a process in the body itself takes place, of change, once Meditation is present – and here I mean the True Meditation. Here, on our channel, we have been talking about the True Meditation. We have a playlist, we are sharing it with you, as we are now. This is part of this True Meditation, which we are putting to you. We have a playlist dealing with this subject, about the True Meditation.

And there is another very important playlist which is “The Kundalini Awakening,” because when Meditation is present, there is this Space, there is this Silence, this Stillness, this Energy, which was previously within this process of duality and cultivation of this image in fear or in any frame of unhappiness, one of those psychological patterns of unhappiness… This Energy is now available to Consciousness, and a change takes place in the body, because the Awakening of a present Energy, which resides within the body and also outside of it, which is the Energy of Kundalini, takes place.

This energy is pure Consciousness and it brings about a change in this organism, in this mechanism, in the brain cells themselves. There is a change, there is a transformation, with the Kundalini Awakening. The Sages have known this for millennia.

Happiness is the Nature of Consciousness, it is the Nature of your Being. The presence of Happiness is the radical change of this psychophysical structure. All this ancestral, psychological and physiological inheritance of the human being can undergo an alteration, a change, due to the power of this Presence, which is this Consciousness in each of us.

So here it is not dealing with strategies created by thought itself to deal with thought. We do not use palliative strategies or means here. You can run away temporarily, but there is no break in this condition because the egoic sense is still there.

So, you can even improve, but that doesn't solve it. This anxiety lessens, this fear lessens. So, you can apply some therapeutic technique: self-hypnosis, therapeutic meditation, meditation to decrease anxiety, meditation to fall asleep, meditation to improve insomnia, meditation to decrease depression…

So, there is meditation for depression, for anxiety, for insomnia, and these are all therapeutic techniques. Ok, they are wonderful but as an escape from pain; and here we are showing you how to go beyond this egoic sense, this sense of “I.”

The purpose of this channel is to show you how to Awaken to your Divine Nature, to your Essential Nature, how to Realize your Being. This is Spiritual Enlightenment; it is God Realization.

This is the definitive end for this ego, this “me,” this “I,” for this self-image, for all this psychological suffering sustained within this unconsciousness, in this inattention, in this lack of work on yourself, of Real Meditation, of Self-awareness.

Therefore, this is the subject that we deal with here in our channel. If Awakening interests you, if you are really willing to go beyond suffering in this lifetime, we have online meetings, face-to-face meetings and retreats.

If this makes sense to you, leave your “like,” subscribe to the channel and let’s work on it. OK?

Thanks for the meeting! See you soon!
