What is life? What is the thought? Life in ego: confusion, disorder, suffering. Psychological time

The subject with you here is: what is the thought? There is another question: what is life? Let us get closer to this again here on the channel; let us investigate this with you. We are before something absolutely fascinating to investigate; however, it seems to be quite simple to have an approach to it. It is quite paradoxical; there is a way to approach this and to have a very simple and basic vision of this thing called “life,” called “thought.” And yet, we come across something paradoxical, because we are not before something so simple, this issue of what life is and what thought is.

So, it is simple and not; so, it is paradoxical. Paradoxical in the sense that you need to be aware of it in a direct way. Putting this into words is not complicated. What gets complex – and therefore paradoxical – is becoming directly aware of this. That requires work in ourselves, because, theoretically, conceptually, and verbally, no answer to these two questions proves sufficient. We need to become aware of this directly, in an experiential way, understanding how we function.

So, let us start with thought: what is the thought? Put it very simply, this moment here and now, for example, is a moment. These words are being put in this experience, this moment of listening to this speech; you record a part of these words. When we have experiences, we record these experiences, especially if they interest us, we record them. Then, what is the thought? Thought is a record you have inside, a register of remembrances, memories, and images. Thus, you record images and ideas. Thoughts, words, and images recorded – this is thought.

So, what is the thought? It is the recording of images and ideas, words, and perceptions of the movement of objects. Then, this memory record, in memory, the stored collection is thought. So, what is the thought? Thought is what is registered in you. This thought manifests itself; once the opportunity presents itself or when challenged, it presents itself. Then, for example, if I ask what is your name? That is a very new, recent memory. You have a lot of skill and practice in answering your name because it often happens during the month: you sign papers, someone asks you your name, and you are always in contact with people calling you by your name, and all of this is a reinforcement of remembrances and memory. That is how recent memory works. When it occurs, thought is challenged, and thought as a record, already kept there, shows itself.

So, this is how we react psychologically, through thought, through memory, with this model. Thought is the expression of the memory record. When this register reacts, we have thought expressed. So, we function in life based on thought; our movement of existence is based on thought. So, this is thought.

Now, we have a problem here with the issue of thought. Apart from this objective, practical thought that we have just placed here, which does not present any problem, there is no problem with it for each of us, we have a model of thought that supports this “me,” this “I,” this ego, this identity I believe I am. When you hurt, upset, offend me, this is registered in this “me,” this “I” that is registering this hurt, this offense, this pain, this sadness. This “me,” this “I,” always reacts when challenged. So, we are now before a problem. Thought is not only registered in an objective, practical, and direct way – and when it acts, it can act in a practical, direct, and objective way for very simple purposes in life, but it can also act at the service of this protection of the “I,” the ego, this entity we believe we are. Then, here we are already faced with a problem, and a very serious problem, in fact, with the biggest problem of all, which is the existence of this “me,” this “I,” whose existence is based on thought. A thought of personal, private self-protection – centered on a false center we call the ego. That is the identity of the person. You believe you are someone; that someone is the ego, that is the “me,” the “I.”

So, notice what a strange thing, at the same time as an interesting thing, happens to us: thought speaks to us – as if it were a memory – it reports to us, it gives us the certainty of an identity that is this “me.” In fact, it is just thought itself creating and protecting this identity, which is this thinker. However, this thinker is a projection of thought and we are identifying ourselves with that. Then, there is this idea of someone present who is the thinker, “I,” the experiencer, the one who has a name and a story. However, we are facing a mistake, because this “I” is the illusion of an identity present in living, in experience, which sustains its identity through thought, in this idea of being the thinker, the experiencer, someone present. This is confusion, disorder, and suffering.

The one in you that is distressed, depressed, carries desires, fears, gets stressed, and all kinds of psychological disorders is the “I,” the “me,” the ego, this center. So, apart from the practical thoughts we have within us, which are very objective memories – the address of your house, your name, your professional skill – all of this is part of thought, of knowledge, of a memory stored in this mechanism, in this body-mind. But there is also this illusory identity, which is the “I,” which has an enormous amount, an extraordinary number of memories and remembrances of a totally false center, which is the center called “me,” the thinker, the experiencer that is always seeking to maintain its continuity through thought, projecting itself into a time idealized by thought itself. Then, the expressions “I was,” “I am,” and “I will be” are within this center, which is the “I,” the ego.

Our life in the ego is confusion, suffering, disorder, misery, anguish, and fear. So, investigating the nature of thought, abandoning the illusion of identity present in this model of thinking, feeling, and acting, of getting emotional, of moving, abandoning this is to go beyond the “I,” the ego. It is to discover something outside the mistaken movement of this psychological being we believe to be. When we ask, “What is life?” There is only one real answer to this question when we discover that life is present; the Truth of life is present when the sense of this “I,” this illusory center, this character that is the ego, is no longer present.

So, there is no answer to what life is as long as this sense of “I,” of ego, is present. Yes, we have an explanation of what life is in this sense of “I” and ego: it is the life of the mistake of this character; it is the life of this false character; it is the life of this false identity; it is the life of this character. Then, what is life as we know in the ego? Properties, possessions, name, title, envy, jealousy, desire, control, the pain of loneliness, depression, anguish... desire, fear, confusion, misery, disorder, violence… that is the life of the “I,” of the ego, of this false identity. That is what we know as life.

It is very curious because we fear losing this life. This life is the life of the known. Obviously, in this life, we also have pleasure, satisfaction, and accomplishment... We have some moments of great fulfillment – but all of this occurs at the level of the “I,” the ego, which always lives after that in a thirst for more, in a search for more, in this desire of having more and this fear of losing it all. So, we also have another point in this aspect of this life as we know, which is the life of the known in the ego, in the “I,” which is fear. The fear of not having more, of not achieving, of being deceived, betrayed, losing, dying, the fear of that not being here afterward.

So, there is this element in the ego, in the “I.” Fear is something sustained within this attachment, possession, and subjection to this search for more or this concern about not having more. All these maintain fear for this “me,” this ego. It occurs because the ego is nothing other than this name, this possession, what it has, controls, dominates, fears, or desires. That is an integral part of this element, which is the “I,” the ego. Then, fear is present. In fact, fear and desire are just one thing for this “me,” this ego. I do not know if this is clear to you here or if it is very confusing. Everything we call life in the “I,” in the ego, is this movement within the known.

Here, we are signaling Real Life revealing itself when the “I,” the ego in its movement, is no longer present. So, yes, there is a life possible, just as there is a possibility of Liberation from this movement, which is the movement of thought that sustains this psychological time. When thought is just in its place, this sense of a psychological “I,” which is the ego, is no longer present. Thus, we have a Real contact with the Truth, what I have called “Real Thinking.” Real Thinking is present when the model of the “I” thinking is not; then, we have Real Thinking. We do not know this, in reality, this is outside the known. This Real Thinking is the presence of the Truth of Intelligence, the Truth of Love, the Truth of Peace, the Truth of Life, the Truth of God. It is What is present when the sense of “I,” the ego, is not.

So, investigating the Truth about who we are is understanding how the human mind works. That is the end for this thinker, this experiencer, this person who observes the world based on conclusions, beliefs, ideas, and thoughts. That is the end for the observer. Then, we have the possibility of the Awakening of the True Consciousness of this Real Being we are, in this Real Life that the “I,” the ego, does not know.

That is the purpose here within this channel: we are pointing out the possibility of the Awakening of Wisdom, the Awakening of God, the Awakening of Life, your Real Nature, and the Truth of your Being. That is our work here within this channel. We have these meetings on the weekends; you can find our WhatsApp link in the video description to go deeper into that. Egocentric action. Self-awareness: action free of the ego. How does thought work? Truth of action.

Here in this work, we invite you to take action on a quality, a nature, and a reality different from everything we know. In general, our actions are occurring, happening, centered on this “I,” this ego. This type of action in our lives produces contradictions, problems, dilemmas, difficulties, and conflicts. If your interest here, is to discover the Truth of action, which implies action free from the “I,” the ego, we need to investigate this.

It is quite ordinary this people's search for God. So, there is a search for God, for the Truth, but they do not understand that the Truth is found at this instant, at this moment. Without action free from the ego, there is no Revelation of Truth. The point here is to investigate what is the Real nature, what is the true structure of this action of each of us, an action that no longer produces suffering or conflict; an action free, and therefore, free from the ego. What is this action?

Here, we explain to you the importance of free action. Action free of the ego is free from intention, motivation, the proposal of concepts, ideas, and personal motives. Will this action be possible? Or are we condemned to a life of action always trapped within this pattern of egocentrism – which, actually, represents a life of mere egoic activity?

So, we are here inviting you, pointing out, signaling to you the Truth of the Revelation of What we are, the Revelation of our own Being. This Being reveals itself in action, in the action free of ideas. Notice how important this investigation is; notice how interesting it is for us to study this matter of action. All our actions arise from an objective, a purpose; we have a goal. First, we have an idea, objective, purpose, and intention, and we take action. This action, which arises from the idea, of this purpose, is the action we know. This action is egocentric and centered on the ” I.”

And why is it so crucial for us to investigate it together? Because, you see, your life is a life based on action. Everything in our lives is action. We are taking action all the time. It is not only in our physical behavior but also in our inner intentions. Ideas constitute actions. The thought movement in us is an action movement. Speaking is an action, gesturing is an action, and listening is an action. Everything in our lives consists of actions: happening, occurring, and being taken.

The point here is that when these actions are born out of ideas, they already carry the seed of conflict, dilemma, problem, and difficulty. We do not realize that our actions need to be taken from this space, which is the space of real Intelligence in us. This space in us of Real Intelligence, of true Intelligence, is the space of Silence. This Silence is the Truth of Comprehension. When there is Comprehension, there is an action taking place. It is not an action based on ideas but on Intelligence. When there is Intelligence, there is Freedom. In this Freedom, as this Freedom is the fruit of this Comprehension, this Comprehension is born from this Silence, and in this Silence is Truth.

Perhaps all this sounds a little strange because all of us, in general, the actions we know are thought-centered; therefore, centered on ideas and motivation. Our actions are born of desire and also as an impulse to escape from something, which is fear. Therefore actions in us come from desire, from fear, and they originate in a purely personal purpose of ideas, of pre-formed concepts, pre-established in us.

The point here is that we do not investigate the nature of the thought. That thought limits us to a condition of action controlled by desire, fear, and our personal motives and reasons; these personal reasons are egocentric. Thus, our action based on the idea and the thought, is a limited and, therefore, conflicting action. This action, once it is Real, once it is happening right now, based on this Comprehension, this Real Intelligence...

Notice, we do not know what thought is. We do not perceive the limitation this model of action implies, so we do not know what this action is either and how much thought is limiting this action. In general, we ask questions like: “How do I act under pressure?” or “How do I do the right thing?” Why are we worried? We have this concern because we feel the urgent need to take action with Intelligence, Truth, and Wisdom. So, let's calmly take a look at this here.

Here in this channel, we are investigating the Truth about who we are and what an action represents, therefore, free from the illusion of that center which is the ego, the “I,” that thinker as we believe it to be, that doer of actions as we believe it to be. Comprehension of the Truth of action about ourselves, this approach to what goes on inside each of us, how we function, how thought functions, clarity about what thought is, how it works and the limitation it represents, this is something fundamental because it is something that frees us from this quality of ego-centered action. This egocentric action is the one that is producing problems, that will never get it right, that will never attend to the present moment.

We live as anxious, stressed, distressed, worried, afflicted, doubtful creatures, wanting to get it right and taking actions based on thought, without comprehension of what thought is. It is clear that as long as we are acting in this anxiety, this anguish, this worry, as long as we act from a mind that is worried, anxious, stressed, doubtful, and loaded with desires and fears, our actions will be actions that will produce exactly that, because they are born from this internal state of confusion. The point is that all of this is based on this psychological condition, on this program model that I've been calling psychological conditioning, which is this thought model. So, we have to investigate the nature of thought.

First of all, ideas are present in us. These ideas are the result of the knowledge acquired over the years – all the information, propaganda, and ideas present in our parents, ancestors, within our culture. The model of action based on thought is based on experience. The question is: what is this experience stored in us? It is the result of memory. So, our actions are always driven by these ideas, these standards.

As long as there is no Silence, Clarity, Comprehension and Freedom internally, in our mind, in our heart, as long as this brain in us doesn't comprehend the Truth of Quietude, of Silence, as long as this comprehension isn't present, attending to this instant, this moment, this is something that requires action but as long as this is not solved internally, we are attending to this instant, this moment, this action, based on this experience – this past experience. In that experiencer is that past experience.

What is the truth of this experiencer? What is the truth of this “I,” this “I am,” this “me”? What is the truth about this thinker? Our actions are born from this thinker. Here, the question is: what is this thinker who thinks and takes action?

Notice that what we always have in mind is thought arising. There is a purpose, a motive, and an intention regarding this thought, and based on this intention, this action arises. Then notice: there is an interval between that thinker and that action, and that interval is that purpose. So, this action, a private action, is centered on the “I.” All this may sound very reasonable. From a technical point of view, we need knowledge and information, but this elaboration of thought is something very natural.

The brain has recorded knowledge, experience, and how to act. For example, to drive a car – knowledge, experience, and elaboration of thought are necessary, but this happens very naturally. So, this technical information, knowledge, experience, and memory is important. Then, the action takes place in a very natural way. Driving a car does not require the presence of a sense of identity separate from the experience itself, as in the case of this ego.

The sense of the ego present is the one that is action based on thought, also based on past information, on past experience, but acting from this sense of duality. For example, in this contact with you, I see you from an idea that I have about who you are. So, my action is born out of this illusory, psychological separateness based on thought, on an image: the image I have of you, the image you have of me. So, our relationships are happening because of these actions taking place, but they are ego-centered actions; they are egocentric actions.

Thus, our life in this model of action, which is action from this ego, from this center, from this “I” separating itself from the other, from life, from situations, is a self-centered, egocentric action. Therefore, there is no Divine Truth, no Truth of God, no Intelligence, no Wisdom, and no Comprehension. We use expressions like “love,” “peace,” “freedom,” and “happiness.”

There is an urgent need, indeed, for Happiness, Peace, and Love in our relationships and, therefore, in our actions, and this is something that becomes impossible when that action is not born of this Comprehension, this Intelligence, is not born from this Truth of Silence. When it is born of this ego, we have an action that starts with the idea, the plan, and then the action, so there is always the author of the action present, the doer, which is the ego, the “I.” Are you with me?

Our work here consists of going beyond this ego, beyond this “I” and therefore beyond this egocentric action; the action free from the thinker, from the experimenter, this sense of an “I” with all the images it has about who the other is, about what life is, about who it is itself. Notice how interesting this is: every idea you have about yourself is an image, what you have about others is an image, what you have about life is an image, and what you have about situations are images created and sustained by thought.

Real action in life, I repeat this, life consists of actions taking place; they take place when the sense of “I,” the ego, is not there, within a new way of acting, moving, speaking, feeling, dealing with others, with ourselves, without this center that is the “I,” the ego. That is the truth of action. Based on the Revelation of Self-Awareness, of the knowledge of the Truth of your Being, something new emerges. This Something new is action free from the ego. Some call it the Realization of God, Spiritual Enlightenment, and the Comprehension of Divine Truth.

For this purpose, we have meetings here on weekends – our online meetings. You can find our WhatsApp link for participating in these meetings on video description. We also have face-to-face meetings and retreats. If what you're hearing is something that makes sense to you, please leave a like here and subscribe to the channel, OK? And see you. Joel Goldsmith | The heart of mysticism | God in action | God's action | Master Gualberto

GC: Hello everyone! We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto is with us! Gratitude, Master, for this opportunity.

Master, today I'm going to read an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith's book called “The heart of mysticism.” In this book, Joel, in this excerpt that I will read, says the following: “By achieving a conscious feeling of Presence, there is a guarantee of well-being or the ‘click’ that announces God in action. You have attained an atmosphere of Christ, fulfilling the thing that has been designated and perfecting what falls to me.” About action, Master… Can you tell us what this real action is, God’s action?

MG: This action, this God’s action, is the action present when the “I” is not there, when there is no longer the sense of someone present being, naturally, the one who is directly involved in the role of experiencer, in the role of author of the actions. See how this needs to be understood! Our actions are actions that can be centered on the “I” or they can be actions free from that center, which is the “I.”

There are two types of actions, Gilson. The first action is the action we know, so let's talk about that action. Because this is the quality of action that we need to investigate. This idea in us is very interesting – because it is just an idea – that tries to explain divine action, that tries to explain God's action, and this is something completely absurd. All we can do, and need to do, is investigate what represents our actions, which are actions in this “I,” this “ego,” this “person.” So, there are two types of action: the first is an action that we cannot talk about until we first have an understanding of what this action of the “I,” of the “person,” which is the action of the ego, is. So, this divine action… We can have an approach to this, but first we have to clear the ground, discover what this “I,” this “me,” this “person” in action, this “person” in operation is.

Our action is born from an experience, always from the past. We like to exemplify this, to make it easier for all of us: speaking is an action, it is an action that is born from an experience. All of our speech comes from a background of knowledge, memory, which is a remembrance, which is based on a past experience. So, the language we use here is recognized, when it is heard, due to memory, experience, and remembrance. So, our action – for example, here and now is the action of speaking and this action of listening… life is this movement of action – this requires experience.

So, action, as we know, is the result of the past, of what was acquired. There are two types of action, I will repeat once again: an action of a quality completely foreign to this model of action, which is the second type of action, which is the action known to all of us. So, this action known to all of us is the action that has as its principle knowledge, memory, and the past.

This action in us is an action that, at this moment, happens in a very simple, very natural way, but apart from this natural action, still linked to this background of knowledge, memory, remembrance, and experience, we have the action of the “I,” the action of ego. It is not an action of simply talking, preparing a meal or writing a letter, taking the child to school... Here, we are talking about an action centered on the “I,” on the person.

The action of the person is the action of separation, of division, an action that produces, in our relationships, in our world, in our life, confusion and problems. “I don’t like you” or “I like you,” “we don’t get along,” “I don’t get along with that person,” “she doesn’t like me,” “I can’t stand so-and-so, because he acts like that,” “he doesn’t accept me,” “he doesn’t understand me,” “he doesn’t recognize me,” “I have a serious problem with my wife,” or “with my husband,” or “with my children,” or “with my boss” ... All this is happening because of the action in the “I,” the action in the ego. This is no longer a simple, practical, objective action, like taking your child to school, driving your car or opening your computer and accessing your email. This is already a conflicting action, which is the action of this sense of division, separation and, therefore, of suffering.

Our actions, ego-centered actions, we know very well. Suffering happens, dispute happens. Envy is present in our relationships, possession is present in our relationships, control, emotional dependency, vanity, pride, arrogance, violence, verbal aggression, physical aggression, all of this is present among us. So, who are we in this action? The “I,” the ego, that sense of person, of separate identity, with a particular center, with its own desires, interests, goals, purposes, and fears. So, this action is the illusory action of the “I,” it is the illusory action of the ego. See: we say it is an illusory action, but in reality, it is a very objective illusory action, with a very specific purpose and producing a result that is not illusory at all.

The sense of a present identity, which is the “I,” the ego, this sense of present illusory identity, this “I,” this ego, is the illusory sense of identity, but despite being illusory, it exists within this “reality,” which is the “reality” of this dream of the world, this dream of separation, this dream of a relationship with others, this dream of an identity sees itself present, being aggressive, violent, possessive, and ambitious.

Yes, we have in our ego some moments of pleasure, of joy, of affection, tenderness, and caring for others, but none of this represents the Truth of Love. Love is something that is outside this model of this so-called “love” in our relationships. These relationships are relationships of the ego, of the “I,” they are relationships within this illusory sense of present identity, but, in a certain way, paradoxically, this is very “true.” However, there is no Truth in this! It “exists.”

When we look at the world, we see the confusion of these actions. And why does all this happen, Gilson? Because life represents a new moment, always a new moment. But we are coming – in this sense of the ego, of the present “I” – into contact with life, in this new moment, with the past of this representation of the “I,” this representation of the ego, which is in suffering, which is in contradiction, which has been in conflict for millennia. So, our psychological background of “being someone” is the result of a conditioning of human culture, which is in confusion, in suffering, which has been living in this condition of this past for millennia, of this psychological past, in this psychological time, which is the “I” time.

We are in contact with this present moment trying to adjust what is present here with this background. An example of this, which we have always given, is this issue of this illusion of believing... of believing that I know who the other person is, because I have the illusion that I know who I am. So, I think I know the wife, I know the husband, I know the boss, I know the children… I think I know myself. Based on this illusion, our contact with the other, which is always new... we are always, in this ego, faced with a contact with the past, with image recognition, with memory recognition. So, the ego is involved in this relationship with the other. It sees itself separate and having an idea about who the other is. A belief!

So, contact with the present moment is contact with something new, but the element we bring to this contact is an old element, which is the ego, the “I.” So, what is this divine action? It is the ego-free action! We can be aware of this, but there is no way to describe it in words. What we can say about this is that when this is present, conflict is no longer there, envy is no longer there, jealousy is no longer there, the weight of divergence, of contradiction, of dispute, of conflict of opinions, is not there anymore, and so on. Then, something new appears when the present moment is seen from an action of another order, of another quality, which is the ego-free action.

So, we have this action in the ego and we have the possibility of ego-free action. Our work here is to become aware of the illusion of this ego and let go of this present illusory identity. Then, a real action arises, which is no longer someone's action; it is the action of the Mystery, of the Unknown. It is the true action of Divine Grace. It is nothing that thought can idealize, imagine, or simply believe, within so-called “religious” principles, such as our beliefs, which are nothing but beliefs too. We need to experience this right now, in this present moment. This is something outside this known model. That's it.

GC: Master, we have a question from a subscriber here on the channel, from Genilza. She asks the following, within this matter of the action: “Talk about how to deal with a current problem, that is, debt that torments me now.”

MG: What is present is the model of thought. This model of thought is creating an identity present here and now. This present identity doesn't just have debts, it has many problems, there are innumerable problems. The question is: what is this identity present here and now? Dealing with something practical, with something direct... we deal with something practical and with something direct by taking action, and not idealizing an action. The idealization of an action or the psychological programming of what must be done to take action is still an ideological approach, it is still a belief, it is still a concept, it is still an idea. This is still within this model, which is the model of the present “I.” The idea of an “I” present with problems of all kinds is something that is happening within this illusion: the illusion of someone present here and now… the presence of someone present here and now idealizing to get rid of something.

So, we are always projecting the future for this “someone” who we believe to be here and now, having this or that problem, and this is only present in thought. It is when thought arises that the person arises. It is when thought arises that this problem or that other problem arises.

What we have stated here, Gilson, is that, as long as there is a sense of person present, that person will have problems. There is no person on the planet without problems. The very sense of a person is a big problem! He sees himself separated from life, he sees himself separate from others, he sees himself separate from what he wants in the future, he sees himself separate from the possibility of resolving a situation, because he sees himself within a limitation that is always egoic, always personal: “I don’t have money,” “I don’t have time,” “I don’t have a loved one”... So, there are countless problems for the “I,” for the ego.

Your question is “how to deal?” The idea is how to deal with debt, and here the proposal is how to deal with this sense of an “I” within the experience. That's the end of all kinds of problems. So, we are dealing with the Truth of What we are when we discard the illusion of what we believe to be; So, yes, there is the end of this illusory person who causes debts and who then finds himself in trouble to resolve these debts, because we are free from the problem of the “I,” the ego. It is always when thought is present that this or that problem is present.

So, we spend a lifetime in this model of an identity, which is the “I,” the ego, here, having problems. And when one debt is resolved, another arises; when a lack ends, it is filled, another appears; when one problem seems to have been resolved, the other begins to show itself, or, even before one problem disappears, we already have several others emerging.

The problem, Gilson, is that all of this is under the mind. The mind is the reason for this, the cause of this. So, the big problem is the mind. An approach to the Reality of your Being is an approach to the end for the “I.” This is the end of debts, the end of desire, the end of fear, the end of the one with debts, the end of the ego!

So, how to get closer to oneself? That's the question. How to recognize the illusion of this identity, which is the “I,” in this illusion of this debtor “I,” this “I” with a problem, this “I” with fear, this “I” with desires... Abandon this “I,” surrender this illusory sense of a present identity, which is appearing here, in this instant. When that sense of “I” is not there, when that thought model is not there, something new is present. This is the end of all suffering, of all illusory sense of identity with problems.

GC: Master, we have another question from a subscriber here on the channel. She says the following: “Thank you, Master Gualberto. Precious videos! I would like to ask a question: is it thought that says what I should say or not?”

MG: Notice how interesting the question is: “Is it thought that says what I should say or not?” Note, it is always thought that says things. In this answer that was given now, it was clearly stated that what we call “debt” is inside the mind. The debtor is within the mind, the thinker is within the mind, and thought is within the mind. So, here we have to figure out how to deal with the mind, which is this debtor, which is this thinker, which is this sense of “I” in trouble, in problems. Learning to deal with this is becoming aware, here and now, of this movement, which is the movement of the “I.”

Note that everything is, as we have said, a movement. This movement is action. This inadequate action, which is the action of the “I,” is what sustains the problem. There is always implicit, in our questions, an illusion, of which we are not aware, which is the illusion of an “I” – an “I” to get rid of debts, an “I” to take actions, an “I” to do or an “I” to stop doing. Thus, we are stuck to a completely illusory notion of time, which the “I” itself is introducing, to solve problems. Note that this second question is connected to the first one. We are always introducing the “I,” “ego,” and the “time” element to free ourselves from problems. Problems that, by the way, thought itself creates, and it revolves around a thinker who, in fact, is its own production, to solve a problem that thought itself is creating.

Here, we are inviting you to go beyond this sense, which is the sense of “I.” Therefore, awareness of the Truth of what You are, outside of this sense of “I,” there are no thoughts to know what to do with them, nor are there debts to get rid of. So, it's fascinating, Gilson, an approach to the Truth of action. You can only respond to action, at this moment, when that element, which is the “I,” which is the known, disappears. We don't have much time to explore this now, but there is, yes, the possibility of an action free of the known; It is the action of the Unknown, it is the action that is not premeditated, not calculated, not programmed, not idealized by thought. It is the action in itself, for itself.

The interesting thing about this action, Gilson, is that there is no author, there is no doer, there is no one involved in this. It is the action itself in expression. The art of approaching this quality of action is Self-Awareness.

We realize the Truth of this when we discover what it is to look without intervening, without trying to do something with what we look at, observing without this sense of an “I” that is the observer, becoming aware of thoughts, emotions, perceptions, and remembrances, whether good, like good remembrances, or bad remembrances, like the remembrance of a debt.

To become aware of this movement arising, putting attention on this instant, without this element that is involved, which is the “I,” the ego, in a sentimental way, in an emotional way, in an imaginative or imaginary way, with a thought, this is to be in contact with an action of another order. This is an approach of this Attention, which is the Truth of your Being revealing itself, when there is the Presence of True Meditation. This is what we are working on here with you, signaling to you a free life, in an action where this sense of “I” is not there. So, we are faced with That which is indescribable, That which is unnamable, That which is outside of what the ego knows, within its ancient model.

GC: Impressive how it is totally outside of what is known, what is understandable by the “I,” what the Master brings, this real action, this Freedom, because, no matter how hard one tries, it has no way of understanding what it is this Reality and what this free action is, because the ego is always in memory, in this psychological memory, and acting according to beliefs, according to what it knows. And only in Satsang, only with the Master, who, in this sharing of Consciousness, soon everything becomes very light and there comes an understanding of this Real Nature, this Natural State, as the Master says.

MG: Now, this is the point, Gilson: it is something natural, yes! That's the beauty of these statements here. Here, we find ourselves faced with the beauty of what is placed here, because we are talking about something that is natural. This ego-free action is something natural. The truth is that, in this conditioning of human social culture, we are not aware of this, because we are involved in this artificial condition of egoic identity, in an action driven by ego. We've been like this for millennia! And here we are pointing out a spontaneous, natural action, free from this sense of separation. This begins to happen in a very simple, very direct way, when we get closer to the Truth of our Being through Self-Awareness, through True Meditation.

That’s why we have invited you to approach Satsang, because there is something present in Satsang capable of making this possible, right now, for you; because, in truth, this is naturally already You, but it is necessary to empty all this egoic content, which is what occurs within the Truth of Real Meditation, in an experiential way, in a practical way. Before the Power of this Grace, this Presence, in Satsang, something new reveals itself, something outside the “I,” this free, indescribable, nameless action, which is the action of the Unknown, which is the divine action.

GC: Master, our time has come to end. Thank you for this videocast. And for you who are watching the video, if there is a sincere yearning to know this Reality of this Natural State, as the Master just commented, you are invited to come to Satsang. There are intensive online and in-person meetings. In the first comment, pinned, there will be a link to the WhatsApp group with information about the meetings, and go ahead leave a “like.” If you're not subscribed to the channel, subscribe now, share the video, and we'll see you next time. Regards, Master!

MG: Okay, guys! See you soon.

The Truth of Self-awareness and the ego-free action | Psychological conditioning | The free action

The issues of life. However, it is necessary for you to understand that these questions of life are issues that still remain as questions because we do not have a vision, a direct understanding of the Truth about who we are. The purpose of these meetings here is to investigate this. Therefore, this is not a meeting where a simple, theoretical, conceptual, intellectual answer to these questions will be presented to you. We are together to investigate, to explore this, to study this. We can't study this with someone, we can't study this in books.

There is only one way to get closer to the Truth of Wisdom, the Truth of this Clarity of Perception of Reality, of the Integral Vision of Life: it is through Self-Awareness. Only when there is an approach to the Truth about who You are does this become possible, and this is a discovery that you make. Understanding oneself, which has as its principle Self-awareness, which is based on Self-awareness, is the real basis for Wisdom, for the final solution of these issues in life.

We have countless questions. One of these questions is the issue of action, of free action. Here on the channel, we have a playlist exactly on this topic, the ego-free action – Self-Awareness, the Truth of Self-awareness and the ego-free action. That's the only action that is true action in life, and we're going to investigate that here in the next few minutes. And here on this channel, you will find an extensive playlist exploring this subject.

We need to discover an action that truly represents a free, intelligent action for our lives, an action where there is this Presence, this Awareness, this Divine Reality. Only when we have the awareness of the Reality of God in action, we have the Truth of Intelligence, we have Real Intelligence, then a life free from contradictions, dilemmas, conflicts, and problems becomes possible.

Notice that our attempt to get things right is quite common. We're trying to get it right, so we have questions – and I've been putting it here for you; questions like: “How do I do the right thing?” Or: “How to act under pressure?” Our attempt is to respond to life, to respond to this present moment with an action that does not produce suffering, an action that actually produces results. But we need to clearly investigate this issue of action.

What is free action? What is intelligent action? What is true action? What I have been saying here is that our actions are not real actions, they are falsified actions, falsified by thought. So, when we have actions that are driven by thought, we have conflicting actions. Our actions are basically egocentric because they are actions that are based on thought. Is there another quality of action, which is not based on thought?

Our actions always have behind them a motivation, an intention, a desire, a fear, an apprehension. There is always the sense of an “I” present in a self-centered, self-interested movement, which moves based on fear, based on desire, based on choices. All of this is something determined by thought. So, we first have thought, we have this aim, which is centered on the “I” itself, and then we have action. This is the quality of action that we know, thought-centered action, based on thought.

So, we have to investigate the nature of the one who acts, the one who moves, the one who is doing things, which is the “I,” the ego. The “person,” as we see ourselves, is the one who is moving in the world through thought. Life is constantly bringing us new situations, new challenges. Everything in life constitutes a movement; this movement is action. There is no way, in this life, to be free from action.

At all times we are within a movement; this movement is action. At that moment, listening to this speech is a movement of action. When listening to this speech, the verbal and intellectual understanding of these words is an action procedure of the brain itself. Speaking is an action; gesturing is an action. From morning until night, from the time you get out of bed until it's time to sleep, you are always in movement, and that movement is action. So, at all times we are responding to the requests of life, in life. Life is this challenge. The question is how we are responding to this.

What I have said here, and you can investigate this, not mere listening to these words agreeing or having an inclination to listen and disagree – find out here how to follow a speech like this and investigate it in yourself, and see –, what we are saying is that our actions are egocentric, and because they are egocentric, because they are centered on an egoic identity that sees itself as separate from others, from life, from situations, our relationship with all of this is a relationship of separation, of duality. And where there is separation, where there is duality, in this notion “me and the world,” “me and the other,” “me and this or that situation,” in this separation there is, naturally, conflict, suffering, desire, fear, and self-interest.

Our life in the ego is a life in this principle of separation, within this duality. In this duality, in this separation, there is conflict. Thus, our actions are actions centered on the “I,” on the ego. Here, we need to investigate the nature of this ego, this “I.” What is the “I”? Who am I? So, what is the truth of this “I”?

Observe that this “I,” this sense of “I” is a set of remembrances, memories, and images. If I ask you: Who are you? You will say your name and tell your story. We are identified with the story we bring and with the name we know about who we are, because we identify with this story, with this body, with this mind. So, this is the description of this “I.”

What is the truth of this “I”? This “I,” therefore, is a set of remembrances, images, recollections, memories, history – the history of the family, the history of society, the history of the world. This is all part of this “I.” The education we received, the religion where we were raised, the political system where we were educated. Society educated us, culture gave us this training, and all of this is now part of this internal movement of memories, remembrances, and recollections, something stored in this brain. So, we live as an entity present in the world with a conditioned brain, in a life already physically and psychologically programmed.

Thus, our action in the world, our performance in action, in relationships with others, with ourselves, with objects, with situations are actions programmed by thought; this movement is the movement of the “I,” of the ego. Is this the Truth about who we really are? This is what we really present ourselves to be, what we demonstrate to be, what we appear to be, what society, culture, the world, the family, and human history make us to be. Is there anything beyond that?

Until we discover the Real Truth of this Being that we bring, our actions will be centered on the “I,” on the ego, on this “person.” The ego is this ignorance, the person is this ignorance. This “I” lives in this ignorance, based on psychological conditioning, moving in the world and acting. We are creating problems, living with suffering, living in problems, producing problems. Look at the situation in the world, the chaos in which we find ourselves, because, in reality, the world, this external world is just an external expression of our internal confusion.

We live, psychologically, in this “I,” in this ego trapped in envy, jealousy, and conflicts; There is this contradiction between the desires within each of us, and this is also reflected in this relationship with the other. The psychological state of the human being is one of confusion, disorder, suffering, stress, anxiety, depression, anguish, the pain of loneliness, this egocentrism being expressed in egocentric activities at every moment.

So, our way of attending to this challenge, which is Life happening right now, based on this thought, this model that comes from the past, this conditioning that is the result of all this culture, something that comes from the past, an action this type is creating confusion for us and the other, in the world. In this meeting, we are discovering the art of Being Consciousness, this is the work here within the channel. We are working with you on the Awakening of this Real Being that we are, which is the Awakening of Real Consciousness.

We know this common consciousness. We've been talking about this a lot here within the channel, the difference between this consciousness as we see ourselves, as we know ourselves, centered within this conditioned mind, and there is a Reality beyond that: it is this Real Consciousness. And we are working with you here on the Awakening of this Real Consciousness, of this Real Being that we are. Some call this Spiritual Awakening, Spiritual Enlightenment; it is the awareness of your Being revealing itself. True action is the action of Intelligence, which is born from this vision of Reality. There is no separation in this action. Understand this. Our action, when born out of thought, is loaded with an egoic intention. There is a quality of action free from this conditioned thought, from this conditioned mind, and that is our subject here in this playlist: to show you that, yes, an action free from this psychological conditioning is possible.

We have to investigate the nature of this “I,” this experiencer, this cultivator of this conditioned thinking model, then we can go beyond thinking, then thinking ceases, this psychological, conditioned condition of being disappears. Something new appears for a life in Love, in Happiness, within this awareness of God, this awareness of Truth.

We here are deepening this with you, exploring this with you, showing you the possibility of, in this life, assuming the Reality that you were born to assume, which is the Reality of this Being, which is the Reality of God, which is the Reality of your Essential Nature, your Divine Nature.

So, for this purpose we have online meetings here on weekends. You can find our Whatsapp link here in the video description to participate in these meetings, to investigate, and study this. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and also retreats. If what you're listening to here, you just heard, makes sense to you, go ahead and leave your “like” and subscribe to the channel, ok? And we'll see each other. Thanks for the meeting and see you soon!

The Truth of Self-awareness and the action free of the ego | Spiritual Awakening | Chatty mind

Here on this channel, we show you the real way to get closer to What We Are. A real Comprehension of what we are is something fundamental that will represent an action free from conflict, contradiction, and suffering. Therefore, this subject of the Revelation of What We Are, this study of ourselves, which is Self-Awareness, is the foremost thing we have in life. And here I have been trying to show you how it becomes possible, how to realize it, and how to have a vision of what is happening here with us.

The action here and now, at this moment, calls for an adequate response. You cannot give an adequate response to this instant, this moment, to this action, without understanding the Truth about who you are. People might be surprised. Notice how important this is in our lives: a direct understanding of the truth of how we think, feel, and act in life. Our action, for example, here at this moment, is based on our thoughts. Thus, all our knowledge, memories, and experience give us the guidelines for that action. If that action is born from the confusion of this internal psychological state in which we find ourselves, that action will be conflicting. That's what we say here. Note that when your action is born from thought – because it comes from an idea – it is born from a programming, from a calculation. This idea, calculation, and programming come from the past. You will never have an Action free from the past as long as your action is based on ideas and, therefore, on this movement, which is the movement of the thinker.

Let me talk a little bit about what the thinker is. You have a very clear feeling that you are thinking; this movement of thought within you, this inner movement of thought gives you a very strong feeling of the presence of the thinker. Every time a thought arises, it is a thought that appears, and the illusion present in us is the illusion of someone originating that thought or producing it. So, we have an illusion: the illusion of the presence of this thinker. That makes this thinker very truthful in this movement of ordering, pre-ordering, manipulating, and doing something with this thought that arises.

The intention of the thinker is always to guide thought, to do something with thought. So, we make plans based on thoughts. This is the work of the thinker, this sense of someone behind thoughts. It makes the plan, devises the plan, and sets out to act. This action is the action of the ego, of the “I.” Our actions based on this ego are based on these ideas; they have this thinker as their principle. So, this is the life of the “I,” the ego, this is the thinker. Action at this moment, here and now, is something that calls for a living expression, an expression of life itself, a real expression at this moment. When we bring our ideas from the past – the thinker does that – we are trying to adjust, shape, and manipulate this moment. So, we falsify the Truth of action because we are trying to deal with the present moment based on the past. That is the action of the “I,” the ego.

Follow this here carefully. What is the truth of action in the present moment when the ego is not present? We are unaware of this because all our ego-centered actions are born from the past, from thought, so they are mere reactions of memory. That is the egoic life, the life of the “I.” There is no movement of Intelligence at this moment because we do not have an action free of the ego, which represents an action free from the past. Our brains are numb, addicted to this model, inclined to this ancient model of pre-ordained, pre-calculated action, motivated by the “I.” You see: an action that is born from desire, from fear, that is within thought, is born from the past.

This type of action, I have said, I have called it “quality of action.” This quality of action is trapped in the model of this psychological time, in this programming of suffering, contradiction, fear, and desire. An action free of thought and, therefore, free from the past, is an action that responds to this moment in the highest Intelligence. The energy present is the energy of Wisdom, of Comprehension. Then, we come across the Truth; Truth reveals itself now, at this instant, when the past, that is thought, is not present. Our life has been shaped by thought, and the whole structure of our existence is sustained by the program of thought and, therefore, of the past.

Note that you function internally, psychologically, trapped in time. Your actions are always oriented towards acquiring or getting rid of, to obtain, conquer, or move away and be free. Our calculated actions, programmed in thought, as they are born from the past, they are born from conflict. Effort is part of it. Becoming aware that your action, that comes from effort, is born from this intention to achieve or get rid of something. In this struggle, we have conflict, the presence of the ego. A life free from the ego is a life free from this egocentric action, this way of being someone. We don’t know that.

So, our work here consists of this discovery of the truth about this whole process, which is the “I” process, which propels us into this pattern of action, the egocentric pattern of action, and, therefore, into an action that produces in our lives every form of disorder, confusion, and suffering. Our relationships with our wife, husband, children, family, friends at work, our boss, and relationships with people as well as with objects. We are always in a relationship with people and also with objects, situations, and the place we live. Our life is a life of relationships; we also have a relationship with thoughts, emotions, and the ideas that arise... all of this represents a form of action.

Action is something constant present in our relationships with people, objects, places, internal and external situations... Life consists of this challenging movement, continually placing us in a new moment – and we always come across this new moment with this old ego, this old “I,” which is this movement of thought not understood, in which we are enslaved because of this restless, chatty mind, this internal disturbance, which is this movement of thought processing within each one of us, of which we are not aware, not conscious. Based on this, we respond to this moment and to life.

Having an approach to yourself, a vision of Self-Awareness, gives you the possibility of an Action free from the ego. You discover it by looking at the internal movement of thought itself, how it processes in this mechanism, in this body-mind. Becoming aware of each thought, feeling, emotion, sensation, and perception without mistaking yourself for it, without placing in this experience that is the feeling, thought, emotion, the thinker, the experiencer, the sense of someone present to do something with that. Just becoming aware of what is happening inside each of us, looking at this entire process right now, paying attention without intervening, without interfering. Then, there is an end to this continuity of the “I,” the thinker, the experiencer, this ego.

That is the approach to the Truth of Meditation. That, in itself, is the basis of Understanding the study of ourselves. That studying oneself is Self-Awareness. To have this Revelation is the Truth of Meditation showing itself. So, an answer to this moment now no longer comes from the past, from this movement which is the movement of the thinker, of the “I.” Examine this with me here, discover what it is to look at yourself, to look at any internal movement arising, only look without putting someone into the look. There is a way of looking without the observer, of perceiving without that perceiver. There is a way of approaching thought without the thinker, just as there is an action now, becoming possible without the author of this action. This author of the action, this “I,” this one who does, is the thinker. The one who calculates, who does something from this memory, that is thought, is the doer. An action that, here and now, happens without a plan, a project, an idea, or a thought, is the action of Intelligence itself.

Just follow this talk; it might sound a bit strange for you at first, but only listen. Listening is the key to understanding a subject like this. It's not just about following this intellectually. Something is needed beyond this intellectual model of following a speech, as we generally have, which is evaluating, comparing, judging, and striving to understand, capture, or acquire this knowledge. Here, it is not about acquiring knowledge but rather about an understanding reaching you. Then, you are touched internally, here, at this instant, on a new level… Then, something arises, your mind becomes silent, and there is a space of stillness. Then, this Understanding is born, the Understanding of what we are here signaling, pointing to you. Alright?

In this meeting, we investigate the nature of the action free of the ego. You do not use your intellect to understand it – you only listen. This conditioned intellect in us is already an intellect programmed for reactive action, for action calculated by thought, and here we are pointing to a new way of acting, to a new form of action. The conditioned intellect does not reach this. There is Something within you that makes it possible to Understand a speech like this, signaling Something beyond the conditioned intellect. Get that.

Thus, an approach to the Truth of your Being is in this Attention, in this look at every thought that arises at this moment. So, we are here telling you that action at this moment becomes possible, an action free from this model, this programmed intellect, this programmed thought, this thinker who moves from desire, from fear, from his egocentric motives. Becoming aware of this Truth is the Awakening of this Intelligence, this Vision of Life from the Reality of your Being. Some call this “Spiritual Awakening,” something that refers to this Truth of the Revelation of Self-Awareness and the action free of the ego. That is the Truth about Real Spiritual Awakening.

For this purpose, we have meetings here, on weekends, online meetings. You can find our WhatsApp link in the video description to participate in these meetings. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and also retreats. If this is something that makes sense to you, please leave a “like,” and subscribe to the channel, ok? And see you. Thanks for the meeting, until next time.
