There are many questions frequently asked. These questions keep coming back and are really important. One of the questions people ask because of this issue of suffering is: “How to get rid of depression?” That is a question. The other is, “How to get rid of anxiety and fear?”
Now, notice what we will work with you today during this meeting. I want to work with you on another question here in this meeting. We need to have an answer to it. The question is: what is Consciousness? I consider that understanding this answer – I mean a direct comprehension, not merely intellectual words or conceptual understanding of this matter of Consciousness – will be the end of depression, anxiety, and fear.
Indeed, it may sound strange to you, but understanding what consciousness is, is the end of human suffering. We are creatures laden with suffering: physical, emotional, sentimental, and psychological suffering. One aspect of physical suffering is the pain itself. One of the aspects of physical suffering is the pain itself. When you are sick, the body feels weak and in pain. That is one aspect of physical suffering. But this “suffering” element only enters into this weakness and pain when psychologically we identify ourselves with the experience of weakness or pain in this body.
Thus, the very identification with the body in this pain and weakness represents this type of suffering, which is physical. But notice: this suffering has little relevance. The real one is what we know as psychological. Depression is something like that. Anxiety is something like that. Fear is something like that. Anguish, sadness, melancholy, and guilt, all of that is within that fear. All this is within this psychological suffering.
The question here is: what is consciousness? Because all this is part of that consciousness. Not understanding what consciousness is, not knowing how to deal directly with what we call consciousness, is what keeps us within this psychological condition of suffering. Depression, anguish, anxiety, fear, the pain of loneliness, all this is present as long as the sense of consciousness of a present “I” is not understood. The non-understanding of this “I,” this consciousness, this “me,” this person, this identity.
Here we are working with you on the understanding of this consciousness. The understanding of the consciousness of the “I,” “me,” this ego, this person, here lies the suffering, the psychological suffering that we all know. We can use some strategies, techniques, and expedients. We can approach some system of therapy or practice that temporarily relieves us from this psychological pain, this psychological suffering, this anguish, this anxiety, this depression. But none of this is a definitive end to this psychological suffering, which is to be someone, which is to keep as a separate entity.
So, our job here is to go down to deeper waters; it is not about getting closer to the beach, stepping on the sand. Here the invitation is to enter the sea, step on the waters and go towards deeper waters. Here we are working on the end of the illusion of this consciousness of the “I.” That is the end of psychological suffering.
That is exactly what you are listening to: we are talking about the definitive end to an “I” that suffers, to an ego that is anguished, to a person who is depressed, to a present entity living in fear. That is the Realization of God, the Realization of your Being. Your Being, the Truth of God, is free from this psychological world of the “I,” of the ego, of this consciousness of the “I.”
So, we have put it here in the channel – we are studying it here, we have a few hundred videos – we study with you the illusion of this consciousness, which is the consciousness of the “I.” It is in this consciousness that we are living our lives. That explains very easily, in a very simple way, why we suffer and live in this condition. All of this happens because we are within an egoic consciousness.
This consciousness of the “I” represents a set of memories, remembrances, ideas, and beliefs about who we are, who the other is, and what life is all about. So, the present idea, what prevails in this consciousness of the “I” is a particular idea that comes from a background of memory, from memories, from stories the mind has been building about who you are, who the other is, and about what life is. Our entire psychophysical response to this experience of living is very private, limited to this condition of egoic consciousness, of particular consciousness, which is this consciousness of the “I.”
So, what is consciousness? Consciousness is this set of images, memories, and remembrances. Some of these memories or recollections are superficial and appear in our relationships with the other, day-by-day, in our lives. And some of those memories are more hidden, kept deep within ourselves. Then, some divide this so-called consciousness, the consciousness of the “I,” into conscious and unconscious. There are these deeper layers of memory, but they are just memories as well. And there are these more superficial, more on-the-surface memories, so to speak.
So, that is the conscious part of this consciousness of the “I.” So, this consciousness of the “I” consists of what some people call the conscious and the unconscious. The conscious shows itself most easily – we can put it that way – which is on the surface. And what is most hidden is the unconscious. But it is present within us, forming this body of memories and remembrances. Then, all of our education, all of our formation, everything that we received from culture, from humanity, which today is part of us, in this consciousness of the “I,” of psychological, emotional, and also physical conditioning, that is what we express in living.
So, this is consciousness: what we feel, think, say, do, how we react, our reactions, our responses, responses in action, in speech, in thought, in ideas. All this is part of that consciousness of the “I.” The question is: Is it possible to become aware of a Reality beyond this limitation, this consciousness of the “I,” which represents this whole set of cultural, existential conditioning, both physical and psychological?
As long as we are living within this condition, without the awareness of what this consciousness represents, we will be within this situation, this condition of suffering. We are here talking to you about Freedom, the end of suffering, the end of the illusion of the “I,” and therefore, of that limited and circumscribed egoic consciousness. Then, something new emerges, something outside of all we know in that mind, in that brain, in that feeling, thinking, doing, acting… Something entirely new arises, something unknown to all of that, with the Awakening of Consciousness.
However, we refer to a new Consciousness here, not to that consciousness of the “I.” The condition of this consciousness is of insanity, psychological, emotional, and sentimental disorder. It is the condition of confusion in actions, behaviors, and experiences. Here, we talk about the end of this disorder with the Awakening of Consciousness. But we refer to Real Consciousness, True Consciousness.
So, when you have the question: “How to get rid of anxiety and fear? How can I get rid of depression or how can I get rid of this or that?”, the central idea internally is the illusion of the search for Freedom, based on this consciousness of the “I.” All you can do within this consciousness of the “I,” aspiring for this Freedom, in this search, in this eagerness for Freedom, is merely perpetuating this condition. The end of all suffering is not in this eagerness or desire to get rid, but in understanding the Truth about suffering. It is here that the end to this suffering lies and therefore the Real Freedom from suffering.
So, we cannot get rid of suffering within suffering. In this very movement of getting rid of suffering, we are just continuing this movement of suffering because it is a reactive movement of suffering itself to get rid of it. This very movement sustains fear, anguish, and anxiety itself, therefore, sustains suffering itself. For Liberation from suffering, we must have an end to suffering. And the end of suffering consists of investigating the nature of that consciousness of the “I.” That is where suffering resides.
So, we come across the sense of ego, of an entity that separates itself based on these mistaken principles of evaluating, judging, comparing, rejecting, and identifying with everything that arises from this background of conditioning. We do need to free ourselves from the illusion of this consciousness of the “I.” But this Liberation consists of studying this movement and understanding this psychological as well as emotional and physical condition of conditioning in which we find ourselves.
Are you all with me? That is why we need to get closer to Self-Awareness, to understand the nature of the “I,” of this egoic, of this human consciousness, of this heritage of humanity we have. Then, it is possible to Realize the Truth of your Being, which is the Awakening of Real Consciousness. Real Consciousness is your Being, the Truth of God. A new mind, a new brain, an approach to yourself, in this investigation, this inquiry, this observation of the movement of the mind itself, how it works, how it has worked – this puts you in direct contact with the Divine Truth, with the discarding of the “I,” of the ego, of that old human consciousness, that old egoic consciousness. That is the end of this insanity and, naturally, of unhappiness.
So, everything that presents itself in human life as unhappiness is present because we do not know ourselves. Because we do not know ourselves, we have not had direct contact with What is present here and now. We do not have contact with life as it is, as it shows itself since we are always grounded in this illusion of the “I,” in this background of egoic conditioning, from this consciousness that is a human heritage, translating, interpreting, judging, evaluating, having a limited, particular, narrow life, which is not real, but, paradoxically, constitutes the only real life we are presenting, living, that we are having now.
Can we go beyond that? Can we become aware of that movement, which is the movement of the “I,” of the ego? Can we discard this particular egoic consciousness, this sense of separateness, the end to this “I” that separates itself from life, that separates itself from the other, that separates itself from God?
That is what we are working on here, on this channel. So, these are deeper waters; then, we are not talking about therapy, treatment, or adjustment. We are not talking to you about resignification, personal development, or improvement. We are talking about the Realization of God. We are talking to you here about Spiritual Enlightenment. We offer you the opportunity to understand the Truth about who you are. Here, on the channel, we are dealing with this matter; all the videos presented here point in this direction.
We also have online meetings on weekends, in addition to these videos here on the channel. We have our WhatsApp link in the video description for these weekend meetings. It’s a full online weekend. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and retreats. We are working with you on the end of suffering. And it is the end of the illusion of an identity, which is the “I,” the ego. The end for that sufferer is the end of that suffering.
So, this is the subject we are working on here with you within this channel. We have several playlists here, delving deeper into this issue of the Realization of the Truth of your Being, which is the Realization of God. Check out these playlists! We have a playlist here about Self-Awareness, another about the True Meditation, and several other playlists. Go deeper into this, and investigate this further. And if in fact this makes sense to you, join our WhatsApp group, subscribe to the channel, leave your “like,” and we'll see you. OK? Thanks for the meeting, and see you next time.
