All that interests us here in these meetings is the discovery or realization of the Truth about ourselves. We are looking for a direct realization. There is a way to get closer to this, to a direct vision of this, and it certainly isn't through theory. It's not by studying words, it's not by listening to words, it's not by reading words in books, but by observing the movement of what we are in this instant, in this moment. Our emphasis here is on studying ourselves and thus making a direct discovery of this.
What is the truth of what is here, at this moment, about me? What is the truth of what is right now? If we want to discover the end of confusion, disorder, and human suffering in this life, we can only discover this by looking at what is happening to each one of us. The Truth about you places you in a condition of existence in life where Life and what is You are not separate. When there is no separation between Life and You, what is present is Love, Peace, Freedom, and Happiness. This is what some call Spiritual Awakening, the Awakening of your Divine Nature, your True Nature.
So, we are working on this together, working towards the end of suffering, the end of confusion, the end of this inner movement that always pushes us towards the future, in the illusion that in the future we will find what we are looking for. Note that we live in a human state of dissatisfaction. This is the condition of the human being, one is actually searching for something because of the dissatisfaction one carries.
As human beings, we are dissatisfied with this model of life, because there is – despite some moments of fulfillment, of pleasure, our satisfaction is impermanent – disorder, suffering, and confusion within this human life. The end to all of this requires an understanding of what is present, but it is present beyond that which is here appearing to be what we are. I'm referring to this personal element, very intimate, very familiar to all of us, this feeling, which is the sense of the “I.”
When we use the expression ” I” here, we're referring to this “me” and this sense of “someone” as you see yourself. When you look at someone, you're seeing “someone” there. Just as when you see yourself, you see yourself as “someone” here. This sounds very reasonable, but this particular view, which is the centered view of the own “I,” the own ego, is entirely mistaken. When you look at someone and see “someone” there, it's the image you make of who you believe yourself to be that makes you see the “other” from that particular view. Thus, we are in a world where, in our relationship with people, we are living within this condition of “person to person.”
There is a Reality present beyond this center, this sense of someone present here being the experiencer of this experience, being the center of this experience, being the one in contact with the other. There is a Reality present. This is the Reality of God, of this thing we call God, but which is Unnamable, Indescribable, the Reality of this Divine Being that we are, each one of us, when the sense of this “you and I” is no longer there, when this idea of “someone there and someone here” is no longer present.
Thus, we are faced with something challenging. That something is the understanding of a single one Reality present in all manifestation. The challenge is to see that this so-called “human manifestation” is nothing more than a dream; a dream that is being seen, experienced from an internal psychological state of conditioning, of programming, of a particular worldview, something that is sustained by this entire human culture, in this whole vision of civilization.
All this may sound strange to you. Let me tell you here that the Truth of That which is You is not this “someone,” not this “person,” not this “I,” but the Reality of That which is Nameless, Indescribable, which is the Truth of God. We can't approach this through theory, we can't approach it by listening to lectures. We can only approach it through this direct perception.
To look at this internal movement, which is a movement of thought present in us, a movement of ideas, beliefs, concepts, evaluations, opinions, judgments, everything that has been given to us within this culture, which today is part of this internal movement within each one of us, which is this psychological movement; to approach and look at all this, to see it in this instant, in this present moment, just by becoming aware of it, because this is what is shown here; to become aware of it, being able to go beyond it, is the Awakening of the Truth that we are.
If we can't become aware of it, we maintain this continuity. We maintain this perpetuation of this egocentric movement, where our activities are egocentric, our behavior in relation to others, to ourselves, to life is egocentric, based on possession, control, violence, desire, and fear.
Our relationship with the world has this particular center, which is the experiencer, which is the “I.” Look at the contradiction that has been our lives, the confusion that it has become, because we are always within this program, this model, which is the model common to all, which is the human model. Being outside of this means becoming aware of Something beyond all that we know.
So, at first, it may seem strange, but when you start to investigate, to look closely at how you work, for example, what thought is in us, to become aware of this is to discover that, yes, it is possible to live free of this model, which is the model of thought. Notice how strange that sounds at first.
All we know is this model of thought present, thought driving us to action, to speaking, to feeling. There is always thought in the background, as if it were the backdrop to all human experiences. There is this pattern, this model, which is the model of thought. Our actions are repeated, it's something learned, stored, cultivated, memorized, and that's thought. This is how we act in the world. As it has just been said: in a very strange way you heard that. I'm sure you've heard it and found it very strange.
This idea of “him and you,” note that this is an image that thought constructs. Who is the other? Who are you? An image. The image you have of who you are. Everything you can describe to me about yourself is always an image, it's a set of memories, remembrances, and recollections, it's the description of an image. An image that becomes possible because of all the thoughts stored, cultivated, present there, with this model of thoughts, this set of thoughts being the “I,” the “experiencer.” And this is how we are acting in life, always within the program of thought.
Is there a way to live free of thought? Is it possible to use speech, gestures, action, or any movement in a life free of thought? I'm referring to this psychological memory, the psychological thought in us. This is what gives us a self-image, what gives us a picture of the world, an image. I'm referring to this thought that makes us relate to life from a center, which is the “I,” the “me,” the ego, this personal center. If this is present, there is no Truth, because there is no communion.
We are within a principle of duality, of separation, and, therefore, of conflict. Where there is separation, where there is this duality in this movement of psychological thought that we cultivate in this “I,” which lives in this pattern of self-protection, always self-interested, centered on itself, in search of its own interest, in search of its own continuity, seeking to acquire, possess, hold on to, and sustain.
Notice how simple it is to have a clear understanding of this when we look at ourselves: fear is present, desire is present, so is ambition, envy, control, possession, attachment. All of this is part of this model of psychological thinking in us. Is it possible to live a life free of this “I,” free of the ego, and, therefore, free of this thought pattern? So, yes, we can act in life and this acting will be an acting that comes from another region.
It's not an action that comes from thought. So, we're free from an egocentric activity, from an egoic pattern of life. We use expressions like “love.” We don't know what love is. Within this model, within this context, all we have is self-interest, is possession. So, we are ambitious, acquisitive creatures, we live in this psychological insufficiency, in this pain, seeking appreciation. When we are appreciated, we feel loved.
For us, to be loved is to be appreciated at some level of psychological dependency in our relationships. All this may seem very strange to us, but the truth is that in the ego, in this egoic life, there is no Presence, no Perfume, no Fragrance, no Beauty of the presence of Love. When Love is present, the “I,” the ego is not. That is the Truth of what we are, that is the Truth of God.
So, in our meetings here, our purpose is to look at all of this, to go beyond this model of psychological thinking, of conditioned thinking. This represents the end of psychological time, where we in the ego are oriented to live. Note that the mind is always linked, linked to a movement of the past. The thoughts in us are representations of images that are coming from the past, so we project the future based on the past, which are memories, recollections that we cultivate from this experiencer, that is the “I,” the ego.
We can't have the Presence of the truth of Love in this context of psychological time. We can have fulfillment, satisfaction, personal accomplishment, but all of this is still part of a known and recognizable movement of memory, which is thought. And here we are pointing to something different from all that. We are pointing to the end of the “I,” to the end of the ego, and, therefore, to the end of this psychological time, of this movement, which is the movement of the “I.” This “I” that came from the past and is here, now, in the present, centered on itself, in this self-interest, attached to its world and even projecting itself into the future to maintain its continuity.
Contact with the Divine Reality, which is the Reality of this Real Being, which is not this sense of being the “I,” a person, an identity that is separate from life, but a Reality that is outside the known, outside time, therefore outside the mind, the contact with this Reality, which is the Truth of Being Pure Presence, Pure Consciousness, is what demonstrates Life as It is when the identity of the “I,” of the ego is no longer present. Then, we come across Beauty, the Presence of Truth; this is the presence of Love. Then, at that moment, this illusion of the “other” disappears, because there is no longer this idea of “me.” Then, we are faced with Something Indescribable, Nameless, which is Divine Truth. This Verification is the Realization of your Being, of your True Nature.
Thus, we are in life for the comprehension that Life is the Reality of What we are. Awakening to all of this is to become aware of true Wisdom. Wisdom is what is present when there is this Revelation of the awareness of your own Being, that is Self-Awareness. In this Self– Awareness, this Being Consciousness, which is Happiness, is revealed. We have the presence of the Truth of Meditation. And here Meditation is this Truth Revealing Itself when the sense of “I,” of that psychological time, of that psychological thought model, which is that pattern of memory on which the ego has always sustained itself, is no longer present. So, there's the Awakening of Intelligence, it's the Awakening of the Truth of Wisdom.
So, we are working with you on exactly that. For this purpose, we have meetings here on weekends. So, on weekends we have online meetings where we deepen that with you.
