The nature of the egoic mind | Psychological time | The perfect peace | The movement of unhappiness

It’s not out there What you're looking for and you don't know what you're looking for; it’s inside you! I want to say a few things here to you about this quest issue.

We are faced with a very, very basic problem here. The problem is that everything we are looking for, on a conscious level, is actually part of an imagination that we have. We can only be looking, in fact, for what we imagine, and what we imagine we already know. So, it is part of the known; and if it is part of the known, because we imagine it, it cannot be real. This explains why happiness is not found in objects, in experiences, or in sensations – and here the objects can be inanimate, like a car, a house, or animate, like the husband and then the children.

So, it doesn't matter whether the objects are animate or inanimate, it doesn't matter what ideal is present in you, in that search the illusion of your search is implicit, because what you seek is part of what you know, and what you know and are looking for can give you satisfaction, and together with satisfaction, at some point, that satisfaction will become unsatisfactory, because that is the nature of objects and sensations with these objects: it wears out, ages, gets boring, tires, loses excitement, loses beauty, loses joy. Everything is like this, and why is everything like this? Just because of the ephemeral nature of experiences, sensations, and animate and inanimate objects? No! It is because the nature of the one who is in touch with it – which is none other than the egoic mind – is by nature dissatisfied. In other words: you will never be happy! Nothing will give you satisfaction, nothing will satisfy you. Nothing! Because the nature of the mind is to remain dissatisfied. We have to understand what the mind is, once you are confusing yourself with it, without understanding what it is, you will never find in any form of search a real fulfillment!

So, what is the nature of the mind? The nature of the mind is a collection of memories, of remembrances, of beliefs, of imaginations, always accumulating, gathering, always looking for a sensation there. The illusion is that there is “someone” present in it, because there is a sensation in the mind, so you carry the illusion of “somebody” who will fill yourself in a sensation. That “someone” is the egoic mind and it is by nature unhappy, poor, needy, craving for more, greedy, envious, imaginative: that is the nature of the egoic mind – egoic mind is the “I,” the “me,” this sense of humanity present in the human being. That sense of being “somebody” will never be fulfilled with anything. All this movement takes place within this non-awareness of Being, within this non-real perception of Being, within this unconsciousness, as I have called it.

So, this sense of individuality, which is the sense of “I,” which is the presence of the egoic mind in its projections, idealizing what it actually already knows, labeling it as “happiness,” “real love,” “eternal love” – these are expressions we use –, “true happiness,” “the perfect peace,” these labels with which we label our imagination, our self-projections.

Some other labels exist as well: “the truth of God” and “the encounter with God” are others that we use.

And then, at that moment, we join into this search. This self-projection is an illusion. It’s an illusion. What you are looking for is not there and what you idealize in the search is not what you are actually looking for. What you are looking for is You, what you are searching is You, but you are going outside, that “outside” is the movement inside the mind – it is the movement inside the mind, that “outside.” You when you are confused with that internal movement of the egoic mind, which is, basically, memory, remembrances, imaginations, beliefs, “happiness,” “love,” God, “Truth” … everything labeled, full of labels. This movement of unconsciousness is actually a departure from the Simple, Real Nature of Being What You Are.

So, we can't keep going outside, we have to stop. But the mind cannot stop. Look at yourself, it doesn't stop, the mind inside you is a restless, agitated movement, which is projected at every moment into the future, or into the past. You need that to be “someone,” to keep mulling over little stories, remembrances, memories – which is, basically, the past –, and you need to project yourself into an ideal of more, which is ambition. The future is nothing but this: the ambition to be more, to do more, to achieve more, to get rid of something else, or many other things.

So, there’s always this movement inside you, the past being memories of the old husband, the children, what was, what is no longer here, what you lost. You need that feeling of being “someone,” even if it represents the pain of loss, but it gives me the sense of identity, which is, basically, being “someone,” one person, one person in time; and you need the future, because with the future you will be better, there will be a better moment than this one for “me,” for that “I,” for that “you” that thought says is you, with which you are confused. So, either you are in the past or you are in the future.

So, there is always this movement of unhappiness, which is the movement of time produced, sustained and supported by thought. So, psychological time has been the basis of this structure of life that we are living. So, we have the element “thought” as the basis of this structure. So, you see, “thought” element is the basis and structure of that psychological time that allows us to be “someone” and to use so arrogantly statements such as: “my house,” “my children,” “my husband,” “my business,” “my money.” This is nonsense! You don't have the money, the Central Bank has the money, the money passes through your hands; you don't have children, children pass, children are of Life, they are of God; that little child, that little two-year-old boy, where is he?

He’s already married and left, he was never yours, another girl, also grown up, from other parents, stole his little heart and he left, he was never yours! Where is your husband? He’s gone. You try to put another one in place, but it will never be the first husband. Nothing is repeated! “He wasn't good,” but I'm not saying he was good, I'm saying he’s not the same.

Nothing is repeated because nothing is the same and nothing is yours, but arrogantly we say: “mine,” “my memories.”

No! They are memories engraved in that brain, you take a hard hit on the head and the memories disappear, they are not yours.

You have no memories; memories arise as children arise.

“My thoughts”. No! Thoughts pass through you. Everything passes. You say “my body”. No! The body is an experience that is passing, the nose you have is not the same nose you had when you were twelve years old, not even six months old. It’s a different nose. Every seven years the body is a new body, because a lot of change has already happened in that body and everything is already new. Life, Existence, arrives and changes your hand, your eyes, the cells of the epidermis, everything changes, you have absolutely nothing. Life has everything.

The words “my” and “I” have no truth in it, no truth in it. “Mine” and “I,” examine this, investigate this, approach this, look at this. If this isn't real – the “I” and “mine” aren't real – what about dreams? What about happiness? What about peace? And freedom? And God?

People say: “my God.” How arrogant we are, even because we say: “My God is greater than your God.” When we go to watch our teams play, they start to play and we pray, each one prays to God, but they are opposing teams. They are opposite teams, but each is praying to the same God but it is “their God” so their team will win, but the other is doing the same thing. Look at the rain, you don't like your neighbor, but when the rain comes down, and he has a garden, the rain also falls on your neighbor’s garden – within your particular view of self-image, you see him as a bad person –, but it’s no use praying to “your God” for the rain to be “yours” and fall only in your garden, because it will fall in the garden of your neighbor, your enemy, too.

So, we live in this illusion, in the illusion of “someone” to accomplish, to achieve, to be happy, to have peace, to accomplish something out there. And here I am saying to you: what you are looking for is not what you are really looking for. And what you have no idea of, which you don't even need to look for, you are not aware, which is what will make you happy, which is the Peace you need, the Love you need, the Freedom you need, God, the Real – here I mean the Reality of God.

So, our work, our meeting, proposes to show you That: the Truth that Is you in your Being. The realization of That, which is the realization of this Truth that is present here and now, is not a case of seeking, it is not a case of searching, it is not a case of projecting, it is not a case of something for tomorrow. It is the Truth revealing itself here and now, in That Which Is you. To look at everything that thought produces and just get rid of it, no moment will be greater than that moment, no happiness will be greater than the Happiness of this moment, no freedom will be greater than the Freedom of this moment, and no God will exist outside of that moment.

If you suspect that in God is everything, you are right; and if you suspect that in God there is nothing at all, you are also right. The realization of This is Spiritual Awakening or Spiritual Enlightenment. That is, yes, without label, without naming, the perfect Peace, perfect Bliss, perfect Love, the Reality of your Being in this moment, and That is the end of all searching, That is the end of all searching.

That´s it.
