Here, if our actions are born from thought – note this – which is how, in general, it happens, then we have an idea, a thought. A thought or idea is just a memory, but it is enough to drive us to a given action. This action comes from thought, and behind it, there is an intention, a motivation, a desire, a concern, a fear... All of this appears behind thought and drives us to action. So, we have three elements within our actions. See how important it is to investigate this issue of action, because our entire lives happen within action. Our life is a movement of action. What is the nature of this action?
Nowadays, we have a life that presents our accomplished actions. So, all the results of life we have today are present due to actions. Some actions happened, some were taken. Life is this movement of action. We do not understand what action is and the importance of it in our lives. The point is that this type of action, as they have been until now, is born from a center, the “I.” This “I” is the experiencer, the one who is involved in this movement of thought, who has a feeling, an emotion, a sensation, a plan, a project, a desire, a concern, a form of fear behind that thought.
Our actions are self-centered. On some level, not everything has been complete, full, or integral in our lives because our actions, which arise from the ego – this is a way of responding to the challenge of what is shown at this moment, as the challenge for an action to be taken – those actions are not of Truth. Notice what an interesting thing the issue of action is: at every moment, we are being challenged to an action. Either we respond to that from Intelligence, Understanding, Vision of Reality, or from this center, the “I,” the ego. From the ego, our actions are based on thought, on the experiencer. The experiencer is the past in us, the past is that person, and the ego is the past.
So, notice what a curious thing this issue of action is: if our actions arise from this background, the “I,” the ego, the experiencer, they arise from thought, feeling, emotion, a way of perceiving, fear, and desire. This quality of action is the attempt to adjust this present moment to an idea, a model predetermined by the experiencer, the ego, the “I.” Thus, this quality of action produces conflict, suffering, contradiction, and problems in our lives. We need to discover an action free of the “I,” of the ego; therefore, free of the experiencer, of this model of thought. So, what do we have present in the incomplete action, in this attending to this instant, because this instant is where action is being requested – it is always like this, life is a challenge, and it asks for action at that moment –, but this action when born from the thinker who is the “I,” the ego, is an inadequate action, which is not Real.
What we are dealing with, together, is the possibility of an action for this given moment, this instant, that is a complete action and, therefore, free from this background, this “I,” this ego, since the action of this moment requires a Living, Real movement, capable of meeting this moment from the vision of Reality here and now, not from the past. However, our actions come from the past, because they come from this center – the “I,” the experiencer, the ego. Thus, they are continually producing one or another form of complication, suffering, and problem. Problems that are not only in our lives but also in the lives of people around us, because they are egocentric, ego-centered actions. The ego is this model of separateness, of duality, where there is this “I” and the other, “I” and life, and this “I” does everything within self-centeredness, self-interest, a search for personal results based – I repeat – on desire, fear, and all the different intentions of this egocentric identity.
So, we are here, on this channel, investigating this matter with you. What is life free of the ego? A life free of the ego requires the presence of the Truth of Self-Awareness. The Truth of Self-Awareness and the action free of the ego are fundamental for a life in Wisdom and Love, where there is this Intelligence. The presence of this Intelligence is the presence of Peace, Freedom, and Happiness. We have a playlist here on the channel: this issue of the Truth of Self-Awareness and the action free of the ego. In this playlist, we are delving deeper into this subject with you. There is another playlist that I want to recommend to you: The matter of Self-Awareness, the Truth of Self-Awareness, and True Meditation in a practical way – becoming aware of how you work and how the mind works.
You see, our mind is the human mind. This mind is the basis of the consciousness of the “I.” So, everything we know is within this consciousness of the “I.” Our entire functioning is based on the egoic, conditioned mind already programmed for this pattern, this model. Then, our actions are self-centered, mere egoistic activities, producing problems. We must discover the Truth of an Action totally different from this one. Attending to this instant, this present moment, from a vision free of the “I,” the ego. Here, we have an Action where there is no separation between this understanding of what is being requested and the action itself.
The Truth of the Awakening of Consciousness within us brings this Intelligence, a new way for this brain to function, and the presence of a new mind. Here, the expression “new mind” refers to the Truth of an internal state where there is no separation between the action requested and the response given. So, we are before a single movement, which is the movement of life itself, when the ego is not present. The Truth of this action is the presence of Love, Compassion, and Intelligence. The Action free of the ego, free from the “I,” is the one that no longer brings conflict, problems, disorder, or suffering.
Here, together, we have this approach to understanding how we work. Note that every thought in you is the result of an experience. So, we have an experience, we record it, and it becomes a thought stored within you, a memory. Based on this memory, we act by carrying out actions. As part of these thoughts, we have feelings, emotions, and the way of feeling. That is all part of the way the brain processes this memory. So, we have the basis of this experiencer acting, so the experiencer is the result of experience. When we record that given experience, it is present as memory, remembrance, memories, feelings, emotions… This is the experiencer! Faced with a new situation, this experiencer who comes from the past seeks to act. That's what hasn't worked.
That is what we deal with here with you. Is it possible to eliminate this experiencer from our lives? This experiencer is the ego, the “I,” who keeps registering to act based on this past experience. Note how interesting this subject is: life demands action, but an integral, complete, new action. It cannot be the result of the past. All the past can do is attempt to adjust this moment to something it already knows, already has and understands. That is what we have done in our lives. In contact with others, we do not look at them with new eyes. We always look through this experiencer, which is memory, remembrance, the pleasant or unpleasant moments “I had” with him or her. That is something of the past. In fact, we are always before something new.
This idea of someone is an image we place here and now. It is an image I make of them and bring to this moment. So, in this contact, this relationship, our action based on the past is conflicting. Note the truth implicit here in this statement: your contact with your wife, husband, neighbor, boss, co-worker, with yourself, when based on this experiencer that is the ego, is where there is this separation and, therefore, conflict; where what is present is the attempt of adjusting to something new, which is this contact we are interpreting based on the past. That is the movement of the ego, the “I,” in its relationships. Thus, our relationships are conflicting and problematic, where there is fear, desire, and conflict.
So, how can we have an Action free of the ego if this action is based on the past, on thoughts, on the images “I have” of them, that they have “of me”? Then, what is this “I,” this “me”? Becoming aware of this movement here is Self-Awareness. When we pay attention to all this internal movement, to this game thought, the experiencer – which is the ego – plays, becoming aware of it... just becoming aware of it, bringing awareness to this moment, consciousness to this moment… to this entire game thought, the experiencer, the ego sustains to maintain its continuity in these actions – which are mere reactions that come from the past, egocentric activities, because they are actions centered on this illusion of the “I,” in this supposed reality. Becoming aware of this, is the end to this psychological condition of being someone and seeing the other as someone, of seeing life, situations, people, and the world around from the viewpoint of this “me,” this “I.”
That’s when we come closer to the Truth. Thus, when there is Self-Awareness, there is an Action free of the ego, because the presence of the Revelation of Meditation occurs, the emptying of this content, which is the content of the “I,” the experiencer. This experiencer is the one loaded with its memories and images, which is the own thinker, the one observing from this center and therefore separating oneself. Then, this experiencer is the thinker, the observer, and the author of the actions – which are mere adjustments for this moment of an idea that it brings from the past.
Therefore, this work here consists of this investigation, this approach. Once free from this “I,” this ego, we have a totally different Action. That is our subject here with you within this channel. We are inviting you to investigate this, to look at this together. For this purpose, we have online meetings here on weekends. You find here, in the video description, our WhatsApp link to participate in these meetings. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and also retreats. If this is something that makes sense to you, please leave your “like,” subscribe to the channel, and let's work on this together. OK? Here is the invitation and see you. Thanks for the meeting, and until next time.
