Self-awareness and ego-free action | The True Meditation | No duality | Spiritual Awakening

The question is: when will we really have a real action, a true action, an action that is in fact Intelligent, Wise, that is no longer producing suffering either for us or for others? Is such a quality of action possible?

Notice that we have actions that we regret. We make resolutions in life and they lead us to actions that produce frustration, that produce suffering, that produce conflict and problems not only for us, but also for others. And we always want to succeed.

When people ask “how do I do the right thing?” – for example, “how to act under pressure?”, “How to succeed?”, “How to act correctly?”... These are questions we ask ourselves because we intend to act intelligently. The point is that there is no Intelligence! We don't know what action is, we don't know what Intelligence is. However, in life we are asked all the time to attend to life in action. Everything is action, they happen, they occur.

Speaking here is an action; listening is an action; the movement from morning until night: getting out of bed, having breakfast, going to work. So, we have physical actions, intellectual actions. Emotions move, and the movement of an emotion is action. Where there is movement, we have actions. So, life brings us a challenge and expects that challenge to be met with action. So, at all times we are being asked to take action. The problem is that we don't know how to respond to these actions, because our actions are born from the past. Yes, they come from the past.

All the experiences we've been through are now registered in us. It is this experiencer who acts, who operates, who does, who carries out the action when life requests it, and this action, as it is born from the experiencer, is born from the past. The problem is that responding to life at that moment requires appropriate action, and this past is an attempt to merely adjust to this instant, this moment, this challenge.

Notice why our actions are conflicting, problematic and produce suffering, not only for us, but also for the other person, for the world around us. Because these are actions that the experiencer brings, that they have, that are merely an adjustment to that moment. An action born out of thought doesn't meet that moment, because it's an action born out of the past. Only at one level, which is the practical, technical and functional level, is action based on knowledge, thought and experience a simple action, natural action that doesn't produce problems.

Working in a profession requires thought, knowledge, and experience, so you make use of this by operating, realizing, and doing. At this level, action is simple, it's natural. The problem arises when, psychologically, the sense of “I”, of “person” is present now, in this instant. So, our acting, our operating on the basis of the “I”, of the ego, is the action that causes problems. I have called this action egoic activity, egocentric activity.

We don't know ego-free action. For such an action to become possible, we need to understand how we ourselves function. Studying oneself is Self-Awareness. Studying this movement of the “I”, the experiencer, and this thinker in us is Self-Awareness. When there is this Truth of Self-Awareness, it becomes possible to have an ego-free action. That's what we're interested in here.

An action of this quality is possible when there is this Realization of your Being, when Something beyond the “I” is present, beyond the ego, beyond this movement, which is the egocentric movement. So, this egoic action, this action of this center that I have called illusory, the false center, is no longer present. So, when we get closer to the Truth about who we are, this “I” element, the experiencer, the thinker, is comprehended. If it is comprehended, this sense of separation that this “I” produces disappears. This separation is the principle of disorder, of confusion.

So, here we are working with you to put an end to this “I”, to the ego, the Truth of the Revelation of your Essential Nature, of your Divine Nature. We're working with you on the matter of action. So, what is action? Action is that which occurs here, which happens here, which at that moment expresses itself when the “I”, the ego, is not there. We have a few brief moments of such actions.

In front of a sunset, that's a moment of action. In that look, between the eyes and the sunset, separation disappears; the sense of “someone” to get, to gain, to get rid of, to accomplish something in that instant is no longer present. So, here we have an example of an action free of the “I”, of the ego. In this gaze, there is only observing, there is this Presence of pure observing, of pure observation. This is action, but there is no “someone” in this action, there is no “someone” watching the sunset. There is only looking, observing, without the observer. This pure observation is the action free from the “I”, from the ego.

When you look at a child's face, they smile and there is a response of smiling, so there is a challenge that is being met. There's no interest, fear, desire, or search for something in that smile. It's just an action, an event. We have moments like this in our lives, where a natural, spontaneous, and free action happens and that center, which is the “I”, the ego is not involved. Is it possible to have a life where we can attend to this moment in this way? Without ever placing that element, which is the “I” element, the ego, the thinker, the experiencer, the one who is the observer, without placing the sense of an identity present within the experience? Then, we are faced with an experience free from the ego. This is the action of Intelligence, the action of this Presence, this Being, this Unnamable, Unknown Reality.

All our life in the ego is the particular life of this “me” in this self-centeredness, in this egotism, in this egoism. Thus, all our activities are to obtain things, to accomplish things, to do things. There is always a motivation behind it, an intention, an objective, a target, a purpose. All of this comes from this model, which is the model of thought with its intentions, predilections, concepts, choices, and determinations. This is the quality of action that we generally know.

So, there's this thought – the idea –, intention, and action. These three elements are always present in egocentric activity. The Realization of God, the Realization of this Being, of this Truth – some call this “the Awakening of Consciousness”, “Spiritual Awakening” – the Realization of This is the answer to one of the fundamental questions of life, which is this matter of action, action without conflict, without suffering, and confusion. The flow of this moment without the sense of an “I,” an ego, a “person” present is a flow where Intelligence, Wisdom, Truth, and Divine Reality are present.

Psychologically, we live in a state of insanity, confusion, and disorder. Emotional disorder, sentimental disorder, thought disorder, and it's natural that our actions reflect this. We live psychologically in disorder, emotionally in disorder, and it's natural that physically we're in disorder. Our relationship with objects, our relationship with places, with our own ideas, with the people around us, with family members, co-workers, our relationship with the world around us is conflicted, it's problematic, because our actions are centered on the “I.” They are merely self-centered activities.

The presence of True Intelligence, Real Intelligence, is the vision of Wisdom, the vision of Understanding. The beauty of this is that there is no gap between this vision of Wisdom, of Intelligence and the action taking place. Unlike action where we have thought, intention and the author of the action, as in egocentric activity, in this activity of the “I,” which is the most common activity we know. The difference between this activity and Real, True action is that there is no space between Understanding, Intelligence, Wisdom, and action. There is no space because there is no duality, there is no “me and the other thing,” “me and action.” In this relationship with the other, with life, with the world, there is no longer this “the other thing and I.”

Notice what we are pointing out here. When there is this Truth of the Understanding of this Being, there is this Truth of ego-free action. This is Something possible, this is Something that is available to each of us when this sense of “me,” this “I” is no longer present, moving in this world of relationships with objects, people, places, and situations. To have a vision of oneself is to discard this sense of “I”. The Truth of approaching Meditation, True Meditation in an experiential way, makes this possible.

The purpose of our meetings is to investigate this with you. It's not simply a matter of intellectually following these speeches, but of working on it. Discovering this art of looking at oneself, seeing this sense of an “I” behind this thought, this feeling, this perception, this movement, this intention of action. Becoming aware of this “I”, this element that separates, that divides, that sets the experience apart from this experiencer, and that attends to this instant on the basis of this experiencer, of what comes from the past.

Realize how fascinating it is to understand this. This moment is a moment of pure experience, it doesn't require the presence of the experiencer, and yet we place this element that separates itself from this pure experience, from this instant that is new, unique, singular. We place this element that comes from the past, which is the “I”, the ego, the thinker, the experiencer. When this happens, we have this separation and there is this interval. That's why thought, intention and action arise. This is conflict. So, the action here, in this instant, is never fulfilled in a complete, unique way. There is always this incompleteness.

This limitation is the root of the conflict, the root of the contradiction, the root of the problem within action, so action is never complete, because the “I” element, the ego, is present. This experiencer element absorbs this instant, so what is here, now, new, unique, this new is absorbed by this old, which is the experiencer, the past.

So, attending to that instant in a real, true, complete way is something that becomes possible when the “I” is not there, so there is a direct, real experiencing; then, it's Life. Life is this action. That sense of separation is no longer present. Such life is a life in Love, in Compassion, within this vision of Reality, which is the Reality of God. Some call this Spiritual Awakening. It is the Awakening of this Being, of this Truth that we bring. Others call it Spiritual Enlightenment. The point is that What is You in Your Being is this action without any separation. Becoming aware of this Divine Reality, which is Reality here and now, this experiencing free from the experiencer, which is the “I,” the ego, this is the end of confusion, the end of disorder, the end of suffering.

That's our job here with you in the channel. For this purpose, we have online meetings here on weekends. You can find our WhatsApp link to take part in these meetings here in the video description. We also have face-to-face meetings and retreats. If this is something that makes sense to you, please leave a “like” and subscribe to the channel, ok? And leave a comment here: “Yes, it makes sense”.
