What is Meditation? | What is Spiritual Awakening? | Spiritual Enlightenment | How to overcome fear?

What we have been telling you here is that there is a difference between overcoming and being free. Note, you can overcome, but what you overcome will have to be overcome again and again and again, and what you are free from, you are free. So, when people want to find out how to go beyond fear, they don't ask the right question, because to go beyond fear, you need to be free from fear. But they want to be free from fear by asking, “How to overcome fear?” So, this is the question: “How to overcome fear?”

Here we are working with you on the end of fear and, therefore, on the Truth of being free from fear. It's not about overcoming fear. So, it's like when people want to win in a fight. When you win a fight, you, just at that moment, have defeated your opponent... But he may ask for revenge and it is possible that in the next fight you will try to beat him, and this attempt will be a vain attempt, because it is possible that he might win. Here, in this relationship with fear, not understanding what fear is – that's the point – it's like beating an opponent in a fight, and that opponent will always be asking for revenge.

Here we are working with you on the Realization of your Being, which is why true victory is not the victory of whoever wins, it is the Freedom of this Reality of Being, without fear. So, it's not about someone's victory, it's not about overcoming something, it's about the Freedom of Being. That's why our focus, here with you on the channel, is on the Realization of God, the Realization of your Being.

It is only in this sense that we use the expression “Spiritual Awakening” here, which is also another question people ask in a mistaken way, because they have an idea of what Awakening means, so they ask: “What is Spiritual Awakening?”, but they already ask with an idea. And many people acquire some so-called “spiritual” achievements or spiritual victories, or manage to achieve in this context, in the context of spirituality, and they say they achieved this Spiritual Awakening because they had a mystical experience they had been seeking for years or a so-called “spiritual” or extra physical experience.

The reality of Spiritual Awakening is not that, the truth of Spiritual Awakening is the end of an identity present having some level of experience, having some level of success, achievement. accomplishment, or victory. So, it is in this sense that we also use the expression Spiritual Awakening here: only when there is this Awareness of Being, free of this sense of “I,” of the ego, do we have the presence of Truth, Freedom, freedom from fear, as well as freedom from suffering.

So, what is Spiritual Awakening? It is this Divine Realization. What is Spiritual Enlightenment? It is this Awareness of the Truth of your Being. This is the end of fear, it is the Freedom from the one being the experiencer in the experience of fear. Notice that you are afraid because of the presence of an identity that separates itself from experience, which is the reason, the cause, or this “truth of fear.” What is it that we are afraid of? The past! But what is the past? A remembrance, a memory.

Yesterday you were sick, you went through an experience of pain, now you are afraid of that past, of what happened yesterday, which was painful for you. But what is this fear, what is this past? A memory, a remembrance, which is thought. Notice that thought is something present that makes the presence of fear possible. All forms of fear possible for the one who is in fear are linked, note, directly to thought, in one way or another.

You are afraid of someone, what do you have of someone? An image! You are afraid of your boss, what do you have about your boss? An image! You are afraid of your wife, an image. She is afraid of her husband, an image. You are afraid of a particular child; you have several children, but one in particular scares you. What are you afraid of? Of an image! The person is an image, the past is an image and this is thought. So, we are afraid of old age, it is an image, it is a thought. We are afraid of the past; it is a thought. We are afraid of the future, of something bad happening again; that is thought.

So, where is fear? We have to investigate this. Understanding where fear is sustained, where fear is grounded. Fear is grounded, sustained in thought, but thought requires the presence of someone in the remembrance. See how interesting it is to investigate this: who is this someone in the remembrance? Isn't it also a thought? Isn't the idea you have about who you are, while the memory is present, also a thought? Who are you without the memory of who you are? Without remembering who you are, there is no you. Then, what do we have here? That thought, which is memory, is this “I” that remembers.

Let's calmly approach this, let's become aware of this model of being someone, of being the person, of being this image. The image you have about yourself is the “I,” it is the thinker. It is in this image that thought is present and, therefore, it is in this image that fear is present. Without this self-image, notice, there is no fear, without the “I,” which is this self-image, there is no fear. When you use the pronoun “I,” you are referring to an image, you can tell a lot about that image, but it is just an image you create about who you believe you are. Do you get that?

The sense of an identity present is a self-image, which sustains fear and wants to deal with it. Note, from the viewpoint of this self-image, whatever you do against fear is the movement of the self-image itself, which is thought, which is fear. There is no separation between fear and self-image. You cannot separate fear from the fearful, the fearful is the self-image and the fear is memory, but memory is a thought, do you get that?

See how simple it is, but we never investigate it clearly: any thought you have in your head is something that comes from the past. When an identity arises to do something against thought or in favor of thought, that identity is also a thought, it is a self-image, which is the “I,” the ego. So, here's the secret to the end of fear, it's not about overcoming fear. I will repeat: what you overcome, you will have to overcome again and again and again. In general, when you want to know something about this and you consult someone, they give you tips on how to negotiate with thought. But who is this one who is negotiating with thought if not thought itself?

Thought is fear, thought takes the form of the past, the future, old age, the image of illness, but that thought is still the thinker, that thinker is fear itself, which is thought. So, how to deal with thought? How to deal with this image? By being aware that there is no separation between the image of fear of that given situation and the one who is having that image. Here we already have the answer to what is Meditation.

Notice, the truth of the end of fear lies in the awareness of the art of simply Being, without the self-image, which is possible when you put your attention on the image. This attention on the image, on the self-image, is attention on thought. Follow that. This attention on thought, without self-image, is the awareness of looking at thought without the thinker. Looking at this image without this self-image; to look at memory, without someone involved with memory, which is the self-image; looking at the future, which is just a thought, without getting involved in rejection, in an attempt to reject it, to get rid of it, to do something with it.

So, what is the real way of this approach? What is Meditation? It is becoming aware of this instant, without the observer, without the thinker, without self-image. Then, if a thought arises, it is observed. An interesting point here, regarding this movement of thought, is that it not only creates, sustains and continues fear, it also creates, sustains and continues pleasure. Notice that you are always captured by the thought of pleasure. We are always continuing the pleasure of thought, the pleasure of memory, the pleasure of remembrance, the pleasure of the past, because all of this was in the past.

When going through an experience of pleasure, this was kept in the remembrance, in memory – which is thought here at this moment, seeking continuity from this self-image – we are cultivating this. Realize that pleasure is the other side of the coin of fear. The coin is called fear, but it has two sides: one side is pleasure, the other side is pain, and the coin is fear. We cultivate pleasure and we don't realize that pleasure is the continuity of fear because it is the continuity of pain.

Here, the invitation to the Awakening of your Divine Nature, which is the Realization of God, which is something, note, that definitively puts an end to suffering, to fear, is the only real, true solution to the end of human suffering, to the end of fear. This is becoming aware of this movement, which is the movement of the “I,” the ego, this self-image, which is moving based on thought. In the ego, in this “I,” we want to continue pleasure, but we want to get rid of the pain, and we don't realize that pleasure and pain are part of the same coin of fear, which is basically suffering.

Will it be possible a life free from the experiencer? Can we learn to deal with the experience and let it go without bringing an experiencer into it? Yes, this is possible. So, you enjoy a moment of joy, satisfaction, contentment, but now you don't transform it into an imaginary movement of future pleasure – do you get that? – to be sought again, because this is pain, this is fear. Are you with me?

Pleasure sustains the continuity of pain. Life as it happens right now, brings pain and pleasure, but why sustain this psychologically to maintain the continuity of it in fear? If the experience was painful, it was painful for the body, why turning it into a psychological story that will sustain the fear that it might happen again? Can we live this moment free from psychological time, free from this pattern of thought where this self-image is sustained, this attempt to escape pain and seek pleasure?

This is what we are working on here with you when we point out to you the beauty of this Realization of God. It has nothing to do with what we are shown out there as ways to temporarily escape psychological situations of distress and suffering. We escape because we run away, these are the escape mechanisms we already know and others that we have learned. So, that doesn't solve it.

Here, the end of this sense of “I,” of the ego, is the end of illusion, of suffering, of fear. Since suffering and fear are sustained in thought, with the end of this model of thought, we have the end of this illusion, because we have the end of this condition of cultivating the past, of cultivating memory, of cultivating this psychological time.

That's our subject here with you and also on our other channel, you can take a look there. Here, you have in the video description our link; the channel is called Marcos Gualberto. We are working with you, within this work, pointing out to you the possibility of this Realization. In addition, we have online meetings that take place on weekends. What is Meditation? What is Spiritual Awakening? Spiritual Enlightenment. Supreme Self-awareness.

Here, when we use the expression “Self-awareness” with you, we are talking about the truth of Supreme Self-awareness, not self-awareness as people generally use it within psychology and philosophy. We are pointing to you the importance of the truth of your Divine Revelation, of the Reality of your Being, of your Essential Nature.

This self-awareness, where you improve as a person, where there is a whole process of personal development, obviously has some importance or great importance within this person's story. When a person is able to improve or develop, they are able to make better room for the adjusted life they know.

Here we are pointing to something beyond this person and, therefore, beyond this need for an adjustment to this ego-identity, to this personality. We are pointing to Divine Realization, to a real encounter with Love, to a real encounter with Happiness, to your encounter with God.

And here, it's important to say right away that this encounter with God is not you in this encounter, it's the Truth of God revealing itself, precisely when this center, when this personal and particular sense of egoic identity disappears. So, this is about the presence of Divine Truth.

When people ask what is Spiritual Awakening… Here on this channel, as well as on our other channel called “Marcos Gualberto”, we are working with you to put an end to this illusion; the illusion of an identity present in the search or the pursuit of something to fulfill oneself, to be happy, to have an encounter with freedom or with love.

Our work here consists of getting closer to what we are. So, here, when we talk to you about Spiritual Awakening or Spiritual Enlightenment, we are talking to you about the end of an identity present in the experience of living. The flowering of your Divine Nature is this Spiritual Awakening, this Spiritual Enlightenment. It is in this sense that we use this expression here, within these talks.

It is not a mystical or so-called “spiritual” or “extraphysical” experience. It's not something that you're going to report about later or tell others about. What is real, as your Natural State of Being, is something indescribable, unnamable, outside the known.

Therefore, the truth of this awareness of Being is the end of all this movement, which is the movement of thought, to describe, to explain, to clarify, to cultivate memories and recollections about it. We're talking about something that thought can't reach. A real approximation to this is the approximation to the truth of Self-Awareness.

The word “Self-Awareness” also has this very clear meaning. It's not about the improvement of the person, the enhancement of the person, but the awareness of this revelation that the sense of person is an illusion. The sense of an identity present in being an experiencer of experience, alive in life, is just a thought, an idea.

All this sense of identity present in life, in living, in experience, and in this self-improvement is just a modification, a change or transformation of a person, of psychological condition, of this conditioning. It's not about that. Here we are talking to you about the importance of really learning about ourselves. It reveals to us what is beyond ourselves, this “me”.

It reveals that which is unknown, that which is unnamable and indescribable, what in us that is beyond this “us.” That which is not part of time, that which was never born, that which cannot die. There will be Happiness in your life when the awareness of Happiness has the room to take its place in your life.

You see, in this movement, which is the movement of the center, which is the “I”, the ego, we are placing this condition of time. There is always this movement of time to achieve, to get rid of, to obtain, to do. Here, it's when time ends that this is revealed. So, when I say “there will be”, I'm saying that this “there will be” is now.

So, the future is now, when the sense of psychological time, which is that time formulated by this egoic identity, no longer enters, is no longer present. Here we already have the answer to the question: “What is Meditation?” So, here we already have an approximation to this answer, to this classic question – “What is Meditation?”

You see, it's not something to be done over time. So, it's not something mechanical, something that you learn and, in a mechanical way, practice, as it happens with the techniques, the systems, the various meditation practices that you've heard of and that you find available out there.

Meditation, what is it? What is meditation? It is the awareness, now, here, of the absence of the “I”. So, it's not about this “me”, this “I”, this ego, this meditator in practice, in other words, meditating. It's necessary to break away from this, to let go of all this movement, because it's still a movement of conditioning, of habit, mechanical, something done by this center, which is the “I”.

We need to let go of all this in order to discover the truth of Real Meditation, of this approaching, in this moment, to all thought, feeling, emotion, and sensation; the way of perceiving this instant, the experience without the “I,” the center, the ego, the experiencer. You see, this is something new for most of you.

So, for most of us, having such approach to Meditation, which implies Meditation without the meditator, is something very new or very strange, because our model, our old model, our way of perceiving all of this is through someone in the doing, it's someone doing, it's someone in the execution, it's someone in the practice.

This contact with Real Self-Awareness is the realization, in that instant, of Divine Reality, Supreme Reality. That's why we've called it Supreme Self-Awareness, because it's Self-Awareness that reveals God. It's not something you practice to improve yourself, as it has already been said – and as we've always said in these videos, in these meetings.

Here, in life, the only thing that matters is the awareness of Life. And the awareness of Life is Life in Itself, aware of Itself. There is no one in it. There is no sense of an identity present in it, of a person in it, of a personality in it. That is the truth of this Divine blossoming. That is the truth of Spiritual Awakening.

Spiritual Awakening is the awareness of your Essential Nature, which here and now blossoms when this model, which is the model of the “I”, is not. That's why our emphasis is on investigating what thought is, what feeling is, what emotion is, what this way of feeling is, this way of moving through life is, what action is.

You see, all of this is something that needs to be investigated, because not understanding it keeps us in a psychological condition, which is the condition common to everyone, in this unconsciousness, in this posture of profound ignorance. See, here, the word “ignorance” in the sense of not being aware of the movement of the “I” itself.

We need to become aware of the movement of the “I” in order to end suffering. When this ignorance prevails, as it does within humanity, because this Blossoming, this Awakening is not present for the majority of humanity, suffering is present. The sign of the absence of this Spiritual Awakening, of this Spiritual Enlightenment, is the presence of duality.

Duality implies the presence of someone suffering, someone afraid, someone anxious, someone depressed, someone in the pain of loneliness, someone experiencing some level of internal suffering, anguish, guilt, remorse, regret.

The presence of ignorance is the presence of the illusion of a present identity that sees itself separate from experience, separate from life, separate from existence, separate from God; in conflict with itself because of this restlessness of thoughts – repetitive, chattering, negative thoughts, intrusive thoughts. You see, these are all internal, psychological conditions of life present in this identity, which is the egoic identity.

You see, we can seek all kinds of help in psychotherapy, psychiatry, psychology, this so-called “spirituality,” but as long as this sense of an identity, which is the identity of the “I”, is sustained in each of us because of this ignorance, illusion will be present, this sense of separation will be present and, naturally, conflict will be present, suffering will be present.

Here we are working with you to end this psychological condition of being someone. Here we are signaling to you, on this channel and also on our other channel, which is called “Marcos Gualberto” – you can find our link to our other channel in the description of the video – we are working with you to put an end to this illusion: the illusion of a present identity, sustaining itself in life and seeking in life, separate from it, to achieve from it, which is life, something for that center, for that “I”, for that person.

Then, here we are telling you that Realization of Truth is possible, which is the Realization of God, which someone calls Enlightenment or Spiritual Awakening – what some confuse with all kinds of things that have nothing to do with what we are pointing out here.

Here, this Awakening, Enlightenment, God Realization, is the end of the “I”, it's the end of the ego, it's the end of this illusion of this center that separates itself. It is the presence of this Consciousness, this Being, this Happiness – this is straight out of the Vedas –, your Real Nature when there is no more ignorance. The truth of this blossoming of your Natural State of Being is Being-Consciousness-Bliss.

Thus, our whole purpose here is to have this approach, to position ourselves in front of life within a clear vision, without the sense of a present identity, believing in all kinds of things that conditioned thought, the thinking of human history, that has been put into this brain.

Therefore, a deep, radical change is needed, a real contact with the truth of what I have called a new mind. A new mind is not a mind in the sense that we know it. We are pointing to something indescribable, the presence of a new way of thinking, feeling and acting, when we talk about a new mind.

So, that's our work here with you. For this purpose, we have online meetings, which take place at weekends. We have a weekend together. Therefore, on Saturday and Sunday, we dedicate ourselves to this investigation, through questions, answers, through a contact with the awareness of Meditation in this Silence, we can explore this together.

You can find our WhatsApp link here in the description of the video, so you can get closer to these online meetings that take place during these weekends. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and also retreats.

If that's something that makes sense to you, here's the invitation. Leave a “like,” subscribe to the channel and take a look at our other channel too, ok? Thanks for meeting us and see you next time!

Joel Goldsmith | Living by the word | Spirituality | Self-Awareness | Master Gualberto

GC: Hello everyone! We are here for another videocast. Once again, Master Gualberto is here with us. Thank you very much, Master, for being here once again.

Master, today I'm going to read an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith's book called “Living by the Word.” In this book, Master, Joel makes the following comment: “Our relationship with God is now. Now we are children of God.” Master, can you tell us what your vision is about this relationship with God, about relationships as a whole?

MG: Alright, let's go then. Here, the truth about this issue of relationships is something that needs to be seen from, perhaps, a new perspective. Our position, in general, in contact with the other – and here the other can be a human being or can be God… For us, the idea is the idea of a relationship between two things: “me and the neighbor” or “ me and God.” So, here we need to have a different look at this moment of investigation of this topic here, this subject, because the impression we have is that when we talk about the relation with God or relationship with God, as well as the relationship with others, with the close ones, it is a relationship that starts from this “me,” this “I,” to this other thing. We have two things that come into contact within a relation, within a relationship.

Here, when we touch on the issue of Divine Reality, the Reality of God, a new look at it, is necessary, because this idea of “me and God” is completely illusory – although it is a conditioning in us, like a very deep-rooted belief – this idea of “God and I,” “the other and I.” The truth of a relationship, whether with God or with others, lies in the realization of the absence of a separation exactly between “I” and other, “I” and God. The truth of a relationship is a Communion. Here, it is the Awareness of Communion, and not a relationship between two things. This idea is completely truncated in us, it's just a thought!

As part of all the conditioning that we carry, we have this conditioning that produces all kinds of conflict in our lives, which is this conditioning of division, of separation. So, there is “I and the world,” “I and others,” “I and life,” “I and my thoughts,” “I and God.” So, we have a belief, Gilson, that is something very common to all of us, within our culture, completely secular, completely mundane, completely outside of Reality, which is the conditioning of the idea of a present identity separating itself, in separation, and, therefore, being able to have relationships or relations. This idea is the idea that thought constructs about “someone” present.

What will be the truth of a life free from this sense of separation? The truth about this is a moment where there is Communion. So, a true relation or true relationship is a state free of separation and, therefore, is of communion. Thus, contact with God is the recognition that the only Reality present is the Reality of God. Obviously, this becomes clear when the sense of ego, of “I,” which is what creates this illusion of separation, is no longer present.

An important thing here, Gilson, to understand, is that it is always thought that supports this model of consciousness in separation. Note that it is thought that tells us about something external, something outside. Thought builds images. The image that “I” have of “you” is a construct of thought. So, there is “I” here and “you” there. Thought always constructs and projects outside of itself an image, an identity, a “someone” outside of this “I,” which is itself. This is a game of thought!

So, thought actually creates an illusory identity outside, to have communion with it or to quarrel with it. Either it enters into communion or it enters into conflict, due to this illusory principle of separation. So, “I” make an image of “you” and I also make an image of God. And organized religions tell us about the importance of each of us – see, as a separate entity, in this belief, which is just a construct of thought – having contact with God. So, God is always outside this “I,” it is a representation of thought, that is, it is an image that thought constructs. So, we were taught to have a relationship or seek a relationship with God. But where, in reality, is God? Will He be in thought? Because it is in thought that each of us constructs this idea: the idea of God.

Here, what we are working on together, Gilson, is the awareness that the Reality that is God is the only Reality present. All we really need is to know the Truth about who we are. See, this representation of illusory identity that we seem to be, this model of being “someone,” with all the conflicts, contradictions, desires and fears… To become aware of this “person” is to discard this “person.” To become aware of this identity that is the “I” is to discard this identity that is the “I.” This means discarding, exactly, thought. And when thought is not creating an image about itself, it cannot create an image about God, an image about others.

I know that this approach here, Gilson, is an approach quite outside of what we have already been taught out there, quite unusual for everything we have learned, because we grew up hearing about God from this “I,” so there is “I” and God. We never investigate the truth about this “I,” with the verification of the structure and nature of this “person,” this “me,” to realize that this “person,” this “me,” this “I,” this individual consciousness is a construct of thought. And this construct of thought, which is this individual consciousness, has an ideal, and the ideal is to have an encounter with God, a God that thought is constructing.

So, here the question is: can we discard the illusion of this false center, this illusory “I,” this illusory identity, this so-called “individual consciousness,” so that this one Divine Reality, which is the Reality of Being, which is the Real Consciousness, which is the Truth of God, show itself? It is not a relationship between two, it is a Communion with the Truth of simply Being. A state free of contradiction is a state in Love, in Peace, it is present when there is no conflict, and conflict is not present when there is no such separation.

I don't know if this is too fast, I don't know if you can follow this calmly, but an approach to the Truth of your Being requires a vision of non-duality, of non-separation, where there is no space between “me” and God. This, Gilson, is what needs to be discarded: this sense of separation, this sense of identity present in the search for something, in the search for a relationship, in search of understanding, in search of complicity with the other, of a complicity with the Divine, a complicity with God.

See, there are not two! There is only one Reality! If It is present, everything is present, illusion has been broken, illusion has disappeared. This is our purpose in life: to become aware that Life is Real when the sense of “I” is not. So, in short, the Reality of your Being is the Reality of God. This is the Truth of Real Communion with your own Being, which is Real Communion with God. Not from two, but from the realization that He is present as the One Reality present in life, in all relationships, in all relationships.

GC: The Master's speech is always very revolutionary, because it is exactly different from everything that has been said. Whether in religions, in philosophies, in spirituality in general, we are – and I speak from what I have experienced – always on a trajectory, seeking, for example, this closer relationship with God.

And then, the Master comes and [says]: “No, no, stop! It is not outside; it is not a relationship with something outside. It is rather looking exactly at this one that wants a relation, exactly at this one” – as the Master says so often – “it is a thought, a thought that divides itself, a thought that creates.” Master, can you talk a little more about exactly this observation?

MG: Gilson, this is exactly the condition in which we were educated to live. We were educated to a model of feeling, acting and thinking based on a present identity that is separate from experience. So, the idea of being someone present is the idea of being someone thinking, being someone speaking, being someone acting, being someone moving in the world, being someone in contact with others, being someone in search of Truth, being someone in search of God.

So, our conditioning is the conditioning that is, at the same time, not just an idea in our heads, but a feeling that is also present; it is a model of thinking and feeling, something so ingrained in this mechanism, in this body-mind, that it gives us a very strong, very strong sensation that we are separate entities living in time and space, having an individual consciousness and in need of something to complete ourselves in our relationship, naturally, with what is outside ourselves. So, we have been conditioned to think, feel and act, as well as listen, speak, move, always as a separate entity in time and space.

We see many things around each one of us, but we see from a brain that perceives, from the senses, with this idea that there is someone present in that look, there is someone present in that listening. This someone is separate from everything around him. See, from an apparent point of view, in what I have called a dream, in this divine dream, in this world where we see names and forms, everything is different and everything has its apparent singularity in this great diversity of things, but the Reality of What we are in our Being does not carry this psychological model of separation. This psychological model of separation, where we see all this diversity and see ourselves as the center of these experiences, as an entity separate from everything else, is psychological conditioning.

So, psychologically, we are educated, within human cultural conditioning, to feel like separate entities. This is something completely false! Here the separation is biological, it is physiological, it is phenomenal, it is of names and forms, but psychologically there is no such thing as this separation. The point is that our human problems are based on this psychological separation introduced by this illusory identity, or this illusory identity is the result of this psychological separation, which is mere conditioning, from which we need to get rid of.

Liberation in this life, for the Truth of the Awareness of God, consists exactly in the end of this psychological conditioning, in the end of this illusory present identity. I refer to this psychological entity, this sense of being someone within life, within experience, within living, including seeking to have relationships, seeking relationships. Gilson, life is already a pure relationship. We are already in relation and in relationship with everything around us. The problem is that this element, which is the “I,” the ego, which is this model of psychological worldview, is exactly in our relations and in our relationships producing suffering, producing problems, conflicting, fighting, disputing, looking for something to complete itself.

This is typical of the nature of the ego, which is this psychological structure of identity in this model of separation, separation from God, separation from others, separation from life, and carrying this illusory sense of needs. The belief that this illusory entity has is that when these things arrive, it will feel complete and happy. The ego will never feel complete and happy, because this incompleteness, this sense of separation and this illusion of achieving something or getting rid of something is part of its structure and nature.

Here, we already get into the issue of this psychological model that thought introduces into this movement, which is the movement that I have called “psychological time.” It is what builds the idea of achieving in the future or getting rid of in the future. It wants to achieve something in the future, it wants to get rid of something in the future, or it wants to get rid of something in the past. Notice: we have an illusory present identity that has things to get and things it wants to get rid of. All that to be happy, which is impossible, because the nature of the “I,” of the ego, is to sustain itself in this imaginary time created by thought itself, which, in turn, is the structure of the ego itself, is the nature of the ego itself. The Truth of your Being is free from this structure and, therefore, free from this thought model, free from this egoic structure.

So, life is as it is, without the sense of someone present in it. And as it is, it has all this phenomenal representation of what appears and disappears in this time, which, in reality, is the time of this divine dream, this dream of God; this is the clock time. We are not talking about this psychological time, which is already another time, which is the time that thought is creating for an identity that does not exist. I don't know if this is too confusing for you.

It is important for us to have an approach to Self-Awareness, to the vision of what is happening inside each one of us to, precisely, discard this psychological model of a present identity creating a time – thought is creating – that, when we are free from it, we are left with life as it is. Life as it is, is a divine dream, where everything is happening within a moment that is the moment of Grace, it is the divine moment, it is the moment of God, within a time that is not the time of thought. It is another quality of representation, it is what I have called “the divine dream,” “God’s dream.”

GC: Master, we have a question here from a subscriber to the channel, which is Salete Silva, precisely about this topic. She asks the following, Master: “How can we overcome a psychological prison of fear of the past? How to change this memory? I feel guilty.”

MG: So, look, Gilson. These statements we have just made may seem a little confusing, but notice how essential it is to investigate this, because we are in an enormous psychological complexity. What we say here is not complex. Complex is this psychological condition, notice, in which we live, because in this condition, as she just put it, the idea in us is of “someone” present who needs to achieve something, as we just put it, or get rid of something. This “person,” this “entity,” this “I,” this “me,” is this complex movement, created by thought, sustained exactly in this time, which is a construct of thought. In this construct of thought, you have to get rid of the past, get rid of remorse, regret, guilt.

But who is this? Who is this element in us that carries this feeling? Why is this feeling present? Isn’t it present because of memories, remembrances, and thoughts? Isn't this the identity of the “I,” of the ego, that lives in this illusion of someone who came from the past, who is here now and is moving towards the future? This, Gilson, is what we need to get rid of, because there is no such entity present at this moment, here and now. There is only life as it appears in this great divine dream.

It is thought in us that is introducing the illusion of a present identity, that it has a story, that it has a name, that it has a past of which it has good and bad memories. The good ones, this entity that is the “I” wants to keep; of the bad ones, it wants to get rid of, and this whole movement of getting rid of or preserving, keeping or reaching, is a movement of the ego, it is a movement of an illusory present identity.

Liberation in this life, God Realization, whatever we want to call it, Enlightenment, the Flourishing of your Being... I have called it the Natural State, because it has nothing to do with what we learned out there. In fact, here we use these terms: “Spiritual Enlightenment,” “Awakening,” but it has nothing to do with what people are saying about this so-called “awakening,” or this so-called “spiritual enlightenment,” or this “divine realization,” or “God realization.”

Here, we are telling you that it is something that has nothing to do with what thought can construct, within a formulation of time. It is exactly the end of this psychological time, it is the simple Realization of your Essential Nature, free from this sense of an identity present in time, which is the “I,” the ego. When this ends, the Reality of That which is present is Love, it is Peace, it is Happiness, it is Freedom, because that is the Nature of Being, that is the Nature of God, and that is the Nature of the Truth about That which we are, when this illusion of what we appear to be is no longer present.

So, this work of Realizing Reality, the Truth about who we truly are, who we really are, is Awakening, it is Enlightenment, it is God Realization. It is well understood that these words we are putting here in a meaning, perhaps, totally different from what people have already read about it, heard about it. We are talking about this state free from the ego, free from the “I,” free from the sense of separation, where there is this illusion of “someone in the world,” where there is this “I,” this “you,” “him,” “them,” this notion of “us,” this notion of God, this psychological notion of time, this illusory notion of something to be found. It would have to be in space too, so it is the end of that space, where there is this separation between “I” and God. All this disappears when there is an Awareness of the Reality of this Being.

Now, this, Gilson, requires work. People want to get rid of, notice, in her question… This is very common in all of us: we want to get rid of what is painful. But we don't realize that we are still supporting something that is pleasant. We cannot get rid of illusion in part, that means, we either get rid of illusion – and the end of illusion is the end of a present identity with these pleasant or despicable memories, with this feeling of pride, of purely egoic satisfaction and fulfillment, along with this feeling of guilt, remorse and regret… Either we completely free ourselves from this psychological condition of an illusory identity that encompasses all of this, or we keep that! We cannot have one thing without having the other.

So, Truth, when It reveals itself, It reveals itself as the end of illusion, and not as a partial illusion, which is only the end of suffering; it is the end of the illusion of identity. The truth about suffering is that suffering carries another side, the side of the continuity of an egoic identity in the pursuit of pleasure or in the fulfillment of pleasure, which is still suffering. These are all matters, Gilson, to be investigated. The end of the ego is the end of illusion. There is a present Happiness, a present Love, a present Peace, but none of this is this idea that we have of love, peace and happiness. It is something completely different from everything that the conditioned intellect, that the ego, that the egoic mind knows. And that is what we are proposing here, within these meetings.

GC: And The Master always brings this really revolutionary vision; and by listening to the videos, something starts to make sense. And then, I take this opportunity, because our time is coming to an end, to leave the invitation: If it makes sense to you who is watching the video, come to the weekend online or face-to-face meetings, because then, yes, being in this atmosphere of the Master, who, by the Grace of his Master, realized That and lives in this Natural State, in this sharing of His Presence, these words, which sometimes make sense, but we don't understand, in a little while, in Satsang, which is the name of these encounters, something that is beyond time, beyond thought, happens and we have an understanding, we have a direct vision, so to speak. So, here's the invitation. In the first pinned comment and in the description of the video there will be a link to the WhatsApp group about this information, the dates, the days on which the meetings take place... Go ahead and leave a “like” on the video, leave a comment asking questions for us to bring to the next videocasts, and, Master, gratitude for this videocast.

Psychological escape | How to overcome fear? | How to deal with thoughts? | Anxiety and depression

We have tried, here, to present these matters to you in a quite direct, very direct way, because we urgently need to understand who we are. Because it is when there is this understanding that freedom from this confusion occurs. I refer to this confusion of the “I,” of the ego.

We, as human creatures, act in a very curious way. We are not aware of the mess we find ourselves in. Realize what we are saying here to you.

We are not clearly aware of how confused, disoriented, disturbed we are, how much we experience an internal, psychological complexity, which places us in an external life condition in great disorder and confusion. And yet, we have no idea that we are actually living like this.

We have so many ways, so many mechanisms of hiding this from ourselves, of hiding ourselves, of concealing ourselves within these situations, that we are not aware of how, in fact, we find ourselves.

So, one of the very curious things about human beings is that they are always running away. We have several psychological escape mechanisms so we don't witness it in ourselves, we don't become aware of this pain that we represent to ourselves and to others. Therefore, it is essential for all of us, with great urgency, to have an approach to the Revelation of our Being.

What we are presenting to you here, both within this channel and in these online meetings that take place – we have online meetings that take place on weekends, here in the video description you have our link to join the group and these encounters – what we are doing together is investigating the nature of the truth about who we are.

Because all this confusion is not in the Real Truth of our Being. Yes, it is in what we are, in what we present ourselves to be, in what we manifest ourselves to be in this life, all this confusion. So, the truth about us needs to be understood.

So, there are two things here: understanding the truth about who we are and the Reality of our Being, which is something else. The truth about who we are is easy to see. I say easy, if we pay attention to it, which we haven't done. All we have done is to escape from this look at ourselves.

When pain becomes very acute, very intense, we seek help. So, we look for psychotherapy, we look for hypnosis, we look for some form of treatment to have, temporarily, a relief from this relentless pain that is present in this “me,” this “I,” this ego.

So, through treatment or medication, we are always, in a certain way, temporarily receiving relief from this crucial condition, which is the condition of the ego. I know it sounds challenging to hear this here, but we have to make it clear to you.

This “I,” this ego has no cure. What we can give to it is treatment, a condition of better adjustment. Then, it adjusts, in a more adequate way, religiously, politically, socially, familiarly, with itself. It looks for adjustment alternatives. Then, there is a temporary relief from this affliction of being someone.

This “being someone” may have a relief from his affliction, but affliction continues. As long as there is this sense of “I” present, which is the sense of ego, there will be suffering. So, questions are diverse: “How to overcome fear?” “How to deal with thoughts?” We have several questions of this type. “How can we cope with this issue of despair, anxiety, and depression, of anguish, this existential pain, and this pain of loneliness?”

So, all we have done is look for a form of help to alleviate, to minimize this painful, complicated psychological condition of being someone. We lack an understanding of the truth, the truth about who we are here, at this moment. To become aware of envy, jealousy, anger, fear, the conflict that desires cause. See, these aspects for us are clearly aspects of suffering.

Although we are not aware that they are aspects present in each of us, they are present. But we also have other aspects that we don't even have the slightest approximation to realize that they are also causes of contradictions, conflicts and suffering in us. For example, the search for pleasure.

It lies in this dissatisfaction, this search for this form of fulfillment or that other form of fulfillment, emotional, sentimental, sexual, or acquiring personal properties or real estate. All of these are alternatives for us in this pursuit of pleasure. Because of this dissatisfaction, this is occurring.

So, there is this movement of seeking pleasure due to this dissatisfaction. This also leads us to sustain contradictions, complications and existential conflicts for each of us.

What we are proposing here for you is to become aware of a relationship with life, free from this “I,” this ego. A life like this is a life where the awareness of God's Truth is present, of Love is present, of Freedom is present, of Intelligence is present. This is present when the ego is not.

The point is that we cannot eliminate this sense of “I,” of the ego, by a move of this very center. Note, as we have just said, all that this center does, among other things it does, is hide from ourselves the confusion it produces.

So, notice how curious our behavior is. We are in conflict, but we do not feel conflicted, because we are as if numbed, anesthetized, unaware of this conflicting state. We have several ways to escape this look at ourselves.

Here the invitation is to study oneself, to pay attention to this very movement of the mind. Yes, we need to understand how thought works, so do feelings, emotions, the way of perceiving, perception in relationships with others, with the different situations around us. To perceive within each one of us the movement of thought, sensation and emotion.

To become aware, have direct, real contact with dissatisfaction, contradiction, conflict, all forms of suffering. Looking at all of this within each one of us, right now, that is Self-awareness. To become aware of how this “I” works, how it separates itself. And, when it separates itself, it is the one producing all of this.

Your Real Nature, your True Nature, the Reality of this Divine Being that we are does not carry any of this. This is something peripheral. But it is on the periphery of this center. Note this. It is a center that is always remaining within a continuity because it is not observed, because it is not understood.

So, Self-awareness, studying oneself, is understanding this structure, which is the structure of the “I,” of this center. Understanding this center is the end of this center with its periphery. This periphery is suffering in its various forms. This center is the root of this entire tree. The point is that, psychologically, this is what human beings are. Our psychological movement of being someone is just that.

Looking at this structure, becoming aware of this structure, is understanding this root, understanding this tree, being free from this root and therefore from this tree. So, a Divine Life, a life in Love, a life in Peace, a life in Freedom is something possible when you understand the Truth of your Being, which is the Truth of God. Then, conflict ends, suffering ends, this chaotic movement of thought ends.

So, it is not about someone dealing with thoughts, but rather about the end of that someone, because it is that someone who is the thinker. It is this thinker being someone who is sustaining this continuity of chaotic, conflicting thought. We wouldn't ask how to deal with thoughts if thoughts weren't problems for each of us.

The interesting point for you to study here is to understand that thinking per se is functional when it is not dysfunctional. It is functional when you need technical memory to work in a profession, to remember your own name, to remember another person's name, to remember their address.

So, this quality of thought, which is simple memory – as we have called it here on the channel: simple memory –, we need memory, we need knowledge in this sense, in this area. So, this simple thought is something functional. The problem is that we have a dysfunctional model of thinking, which is this thinking that produces contradiction, that produces conflict.

So, when we ask, “How to get rid of negative thoughts,” “How to get rid of obsessive thoughts,” “How to get rid of repetitive thoughts,” “how to get rid of negative thoughts” … That's why we ask how to deal with thoughts, because this quality of thought is a quality of psychological memory, in which this “I,” this ego, is constituted.

Thus, a direct approach to this entire movement, which is the movement of the “I,” of the ego, through Self-awareness is to go to the root of this tree. Then, it is possible to have an emptying of this psychological content that constitutes this identity, which is the egoic identity.

So, the awareness of the Truth of Meditation, of True Meditation, of this art that is part of Self-awareness, is fundamental. What is the Reality of your Being? It is what is present when Meditation, Real Meditation... Here I am referring to True Meditation, not what people out there call “meditation.” Here, I refer to True Meditation, Real Meditation.

The awareness of Real Meditation, which is part of Self-knowledge, reveals the Nature of this Divine Being, this Reality of God, which is beyond the “I,” which is beyond this “me,” this ego-identity.

We have meetings here to work on this with you, they take place on weekends. These are online meetings, you can find our link here in the video description to participate in these meetings.

In addition, we have face-to-face meetings and we also have retreats. So, if this is something that makes sense to you, go ahead and leave your “like” here, subscribe to the channel, and leave it here in the comments: “Yes, it makes sense.” OK? And we'll see each other. Thanks for the meeting and see you soon!

What is Meditation? | What is Spiritual Awakening? | Spiritual Enlightenment | Self-investigation

The purpose of these meetings, here on this channel, as well as in online meetings that take place on weekends, is to become aware of the Truth of What we are. So, one of the essential subjects here is this Real Awareness of Freedom, not the freedom as the mind idealizes this matter, but of the Truth of Freedom, which implies an internal Truth revealing itself. If this inner Truth reveals itself, this is the end to this psychological confusion that our minds are experiencing today. The psychological condition of being someone in life, in the experience of living, without the Awareness of the Reality of this Divine Truth we bring, outside of this psychological, egocentric, personal movement of being someone, without the Revelation of this, there is no Love, Peace, Happiness, there is no Freedom in our lives.

Thus, we are discussing with you, here, the importance of this Freedom. We need to discover this Freedom internally, the flowering of this Freedom, from all this conditioning in which we were educated to live and that, psychologically, we are living in the world. Because this internal Freedom that is reflected externally in our world of relationships when this sense of “I,” of the ego, is no longer present, means a life where we have the perfume of Compassion, Intelligence, and Understanding.

So, we need to ask some questions here. There is a very ordinary question: “What is Meditation?” Note, the issue of Meditation is something essential for each of us, the comprehension of the Truth of what to Meditate is. This is not about someone meditating as, in general, people idealize, design and engage in different forms of meditative techniques and practices. For most people, meditation is an act of someone doing; someone is predisposed to this act of doing, which is meditating. Here, meditating is Awareness of Being, it is not about someone in this movement. Exactly because the Truth of Being is the absence of someone, therefore, meditating is possible when there is no one meditating. This is what needs to be clear to you who are working on this issue of the Truth about Spiritual Awakening.

There is tremendous confusion about this too. For most people, Spiritual Awakening is extraphysical perceptions or moments where a metaphysical, spiritual or mystical experience takes place. So, they say they are awakened, “spiritual awakening has occurred,” “enlightenment has occurred.” The Truth about Spiritual Awakening or Spiritual Enlightenment is that this Reality is not an event, a happening in time. Then, when people ask, “What is Spiritual Awakening?” – let's understand this – the awareness of Being is here and now, it is not about an experience, about something that someone lived, kept in their memory and now says: “I have awakened, I am awakened.”

The Reality of Awakening is the absence of this “I” awakened; the Truth of Awakening is the absence of an experience that can be told; the Reality of Being, the Awareness of Being is the absence of the “I.” This is here and now, it's not an experience, it's not something you can go through and still be present. The Truth of Being is the absence of an identity present in life, at this instant, at this moment. Then, there is no experiencer within its experience or the experiencer reporting its experience.

So, what is Meditation? It is the awareness, at this moment, of a Reality. It is present, aware within itself of the only Reality present, which is itself. This may seem a little confusing because the central idea, the general idea, for almost all of us – not to say all of us – due to this whole pattern of human history we bring, of psychological conditioning we carry, is that we are someone to live experiences, to have experiences, and one of the richest experiences and the most desired of all experiences, for those who engage in this search, in this search for God, is the experience of Spiritual Awakening or Spiritual Enlightenment. However, there is no truth in this, because when this is present, there is no longer the experiencer, there is no longer someone who has gone through something and can report what they have gone through. It's not about something you live.

Divine Reality is present when the sense of “I” is not there, the ego is not there – this is Spiritual Awakening. When someone publicly says, “I had an experience, I've awakened,” and can report something about it, what the person is reporting to us is a mystical, spiritual, extra physical experience. Some attribute this expression – Spiritual Awakening, or Spiritual Enlightenment – to contact with extraterrestrials. So, there are all sorts of things attached to this expression, which is totally false. At least here on this channel, when we use this expression, we are pointing to the end of this center, which is the “I,” the ego. Therefore, it's not about someone having something, someone seeing something, someone feeling something; It's about the disappearance of this someone. And how does this become possible? By approaching Meditation.

So, what is Meditation? It is the Awareness of pure Observation, without the center of experience. For us, every experience has a center, because every experience is happening to “me.” This “me,” this “I,” is the center of experience, it is like saying: “I am conscious.” When you say, “I am conscious,” what you mean is that there is this “I” conscious of something, then there is this “I,” which is the center, and there is this consciousness of it. That is the experience and this “I” is the center of that experience. So, we need to have a new approach to this matter of the Truth of Meditation, since it is not a practice, an exercise, a technique. It is about observing what is.

So, the truth of self-investigation, the science of self-investigation, is observation without the center, without the “I.” Notice the importance of this. What is self-investigation? It's having an approach to this moment, without a center that sees this moment from a background. This background is the “I,” this background is the one that likes, dislikes, accepts, rejects, names, classifies, judges, compares, feels, or wants to do something with what is present here. Then, an approach to this moment without this center is this observation without the observer. Get the importance of this: we need to eliminate this psycho physical model of existence or this body and mind as we see ourselves, this model of being as we see ourselves, this particular vision where, in a physical and psychological way, our response to the moment is from a center, which is the “I,” the ego. We need to eliminate this center, this “I,” this ego.

This psycho physical being needs to undergo a change, a deep and radical transformation. So, self-investigation is the ability to look without the observer, to listen to experience without the listener, to perceive whatever is arising, to perceive without the one who perceives. So, yes, at that moment we are in direct contact with Self-Awareness, which is the verification of this duality. It is clear what we have been doing for millennia, what we are doing due to all the cultural programming we have received, which is to separate ourselves from experience to control experience, to do something with experience, to be the author of actions, the thinker of thoughts, the experiencer of experiences.

So, notice our approach here to this answer: “What is Meditation?” Note, it is something totally different from what people do in the name of meditation. Obviously, these different practices out there to quiet the mind, to relax the body, this is great for the mind, for the body, but that's not what we're talking about here. We are talking to you, our proposal for you is the Awakening of your Divine Nature, something possible when this movement of psychological conditioning of being someone, which is this pattern of egoic identity, disappears. This is the flowering of your Divine Nature, your Essential Nature.

So, what is Spiritual Awakening? What is Spiritual Enlightenment? What is Meditation? What is self-investigation? Notice, we are dealing with this subject here with you, in a completely new approach, something for most of us, in an unfamiliar way, because the ordinary way of thinking about it – notice – of thinking about it, is from the viewpoint of this background of conditioning. Here, we are pointing out outside the center, the “I,” outside all this conditioning, all this programming, all this specific way of thinking, where this “I” is finding its ways.

Notice, here, we are pointing out a leap out of the known. So, having an approach to this moment where you look – just look – a thought, a feeling, an emotion, a sensation, a perception, just look, just observe, look without someone seeing, observe without the observer, you are going to the work, you are coming back from work, you are working, you are dealing with family, talking to people, taking care of the most trivial matters in life and, at that moment, the Truth of Meditation is present, because there is, at that moment, an approach to that look, without that background.

You might say, “That’s too complicated.” Note, I would tell you that this is not simple, but it is not complicated. It is not simple because, due to a whole programming conditioning where this sense of an “I” is always present, thinking, acting, speaking, gesturing, working, dealing with people – this model of being someone all the time, within the experience, of being an experiencer within the experience – it is an addictive format of being, in this psycho physical pattern of being someone. Then, we have to bring awareness to this moment, so that this addictive model of behavior disappears.

We are before something that is not so easy, getting closer to it requires attention to this moment. That's why we've been talking about the importance of full attention, since that's what brings us closer to a direct vision in this self-investigation, in this look without the “I,” without the center, without the ego, at our reactions. So, notice: at no point do you need to be in a silent place, sitting, legs crossed, breathing in a certain way. Here you are driving your car, you are dealing with the present moment without an egocentric, egoic identity involved in it. This is Real Meditation!

We have an extensive playlist here on the channel emphasizing the importance of that. Furthermore, I want to extend an invitation to you here: we have online meetings that take place on weekends, where we explore this whole subject here, with you, of Spiritual Awakening, through questions and answers, through this contact with Silence, also, through Meditation present in these meetings. There are two days, on weekends, Saturday and Sunday. We have these meetings online. You have here, in the video description, the WhatsApp link for you to participate in these online meetings; in addition, we have in-person meetings and also retreats.

So, I want to invite you here: besides this channel, we also have another channel called Marcos Gualberto. Then, you can also take a look at our other channel. We have a lot of videos there as well and new videos coming where we're delving into this with you. Then, if this is something that makes sense to you, leave here your “like,” subscribe to the channel, take a look at the other channel, and we’ll see you. Thanks for the meeting and until next time.

Joel Goldsmith | The art of meditation | The Power of Silence | Master Gualberto

GC: Hello everyone! We are here for another videocast. Again, Master Gualberto is here. Gratitude, Master, for this meeting.

Master, today I'm going to read an excerpt from Joel Goldsmith's book called: “The art of meditation.” In an excerpt from the book, Master, Joel says the following: “To reach the mind that was in Jesus Christ, it requires self-effort and the Grace of God, which is the most important factor.” Master, what is your view on this self-effort to reach God and also on Divine Grace, the Grace of God?

MG: We have already touched this subject here, Gilson, with those of you who have been following the videocasts, and one thing must be very clear to each of us: the Truth of God reveals itself. It reveals itself, exactly, when we discover how to be still, and not moving. Therefore, it is not a movement of doing, obtaining, achieving... This requires a present entity, which is the “I,” within a movement. But in which direction? If you give me an address, I know where I'm going with that address. At least I have the address, I have an idea of how to get there. The Reality of God is not like that. It's not possible for you to have the address, it's not possible for you to have an idea of how to get there.

This... I'll put it very simple to you: we are not dealing, when we talk about God, with a place that, with the address, you have an idea of where you are going, where you want to get to. The Reality of God is something that is present, not in time, not in some distant place, in the future. So, this is not a movement to achieve. And, naturally, this entire movement is a movement in time and a movement that requires a present identity, in a self-imposed discipline, based on formulas, codes, ideas, concepts, and beliefs to, through effort, get there. It is not how it works.

Here it is about becoming aware of the Reality present here and now. We cannot become aware of the Reality of God present without first eliminating the illusion of this identity that is here creating all this confusion, all this mess, sustaining all this illusion. So, our work consists of becoming aware of this illusion that is here, right now. The awareness of this illusion is the end to this illusion, and the awareness of it occurs by an action of this Divine Grace. And this, truly, Gilson, is an action of Grace itself, it is not an action of the “I” itself, of the ego itself, in time, in that self-discipline that the ego can impose on itself and through effort.

We need to review this, to have a direct understanding of what is happening to us right now. Having an approach to this already occurs due to the Power of Grace itself. This occurs in a very natural way. It does not require this self-discipline, these codes of practices or any effort. It is a divine action; it is an action of Grace itself. Right now, you are here not because of your effort, you are here because Grace brought you to this space. Your inclination to appreciate a speech like this doesn't come through effort, you don't have to make that effort. This is happening exactly despite you, because all the ego can do is create more confusion, it exactly goes away from the beauty of a work like this.

Why? Because a work like this is the annulment of the ego, it is the annulment of the “I.” It has no value, no importance here. Look at yourself. You appreciate hearing a speech like this, you enjoy investigating this subject. There is something in you that inwardly inclines you towards this Realization. This does not come from you, it is not your effort, it is not your work; it is a work of Grace, and this inclination, this disposition, this joy and this moment is an action of Grace. Alright? This is what we need to understand! We don't have God's address, all we have, in the ego, is the past. Our entire life reference is the reference of the egoic mind with its diverse interests, which are purely egocentric.

The egoic mind has no inclination towards what is divine. Everything it can do is in its self-interest. If something is beginning to awaken in you, if this joy has arisen in you for this work, it is because Grace is carrying out Its work and creating this approach. So, here, Gilson, what is necessary is to discover what it is to be still. But even this is the Joy of this Grace, it is the Power of this Grace, it is the Power of this Silence arising within you, creating an inclination towards this Revelation.

Being present here, getting involved with this work, is the invitation that I can give you, but you will only respond to this invitation if Grace itself invites you. If the mind remains present, you will believe that someone is inviting you, but if it is Grace, it will be clear that this speech comes from Grace, that the invitation comes from Grace, Silence comes from Grace. There is no one involved in this, so there is no effort. It is a divine movement, it is a movement of joy, this movement of this encounter with the Truth.

GC: It is impressive how, in this contact with the Master, things become clarified, understood, so to speak. A memory came here. One of the first times that the Master brought up this speech that it is this Grace that finds us and leads us to a work, like this work that the Master shares, a flow of thoughts came and the identification was complete: “No, but I got here because I went through this study, I went through that other one, I did this meditation, I did that other one, I took this course, I studied that philosophy....” And then, as following the Master, in these meetings, after a while, it became very clear how it's just a story, which is the past coming to the surface, really wanting to stay alive. So, “my story, where I've been, led me here” ... Just a thought that wasn't seen, so I had complete identification. The moment it was seen by this sharing of Presence, of the Master's Grace, it ended up becoming very clear how it is this Grace that finds us, this Grace that touches us, and this Grace is what does the work too, because the ego only gets in the way.

MG: Gilson, everything we can see, in fact, is by Divine Grace, including the tiredness that arises in this search, in this pursuit. Everything you've done, everything you've read, studied, the paths you've taken, and people go through different paths, but this is not a process of evolution in them towards this moment of more direct approximation with a work like this. This whole process is a process where you start to notice things, but these things are noticed within the “I” itself, for the “I.” So, we go from one school to another, from one religious practice to another, from one technique to another, from one teacher to another, but all this movement is still a movement in time, made by an identity present in its dissatisfaction, still acquiring even greater training.

This doesn't bring you any closer to Grace, it just makes you tired. So, tiredness comes from Grace. Grace itself grants you the vision that you are tired. When this happens, there is a prayer inside our hearts, a prayer, a cry for divine help, because nothing has worked yet, nothing has worked out. So, there is an improvement here, there is an improvement there, there is a change here… we achieve some things, some miracles happen, some successes happen, but all of this is still at the egoic level. And the biggest proof of this is that this does not satisfy you, because it is not the end of the search, you are still within the process of an unsatisfied identity, which is the ego in the search; and in this search, you keep making exchanges and having experiences. These experiences are stored as part of the ego's collection. These miracles happen as part of the ego's own conquests, but none of it takes you away from that sense of separation, and none of it, naturally, brings you closer to God or Grace. Grace shows you the weariness of that.

At a certain moment, Grace reveals itself, by Grace, by Love, by Divine Compassion, not by your effort, by your doing, by your search, by your seeking. This is a tremendous ego’s fantasy, believing that we can attract this Divine Love like this. Yes, there comes a time when you are so tired, so exhausted, that you lie down and you say a prayer, you have an internal cry for God to reveal Himself, then He comes, then He shows Himself to you, and then something new, really, starts to happen, but something completely different from this whole process, from this whole journey or walk that the “I” itself was doing. So much so that we are facing something completely unusual. This will only make sense if you have already been touched, for real, because Grace itself makes you realize the truth of this, because you are already experiencing it. If you’re not experiencing it, it doesn’t make any sense! If you are experiencing it, now it makes sense.

So, when the Presence of Grace takes over Its space and shows Itself to you, then It comes, when It arrives, the search ends, the movement of searching for teachings, practices, techniques, all of this disappears. There is no longer any need for this movement of spiritual practice, meditation practice, this practice, fasting, etc. All this disappears! Or anything else that has been put out there as something important within this so-called “search,” because there is no more search. But this makes sense when the joy of being here looking at all of this, perceiving all of this, having clarity about this, or a suspicion, Gilson, also about this, becomes clear. It is not always so that clear. In fact, there is an internal clarity. Intellectually, in fact, many times we don't reach it, but there is something inside you that shows you clearly what is being asked, because the search is over. That's how it happens.

GC: Master, I laugh when you give these comments, because, in my case, it was exactly like that. I was tired as hell, I had already studied all the books, meditated until I couldn't anymore, and there really came a moment of exhaustion. And then, I went crazy, I left every group, I moved away from the study groups we had and everything, I deactivated WhatsApp, in an internal despair, because... practice this, practice that, there are some improvements, as the Master said, but it's all very superficial, because internally there is still this dissatisfaction. So, when I really got tired, I couldn't take it anymore, then Grace revealed itself: a video of the Master appeared on YouTube. And as the Master said: inside, something was already touched, but the mind comes, and then, for example, as we have already said in other videocasts, the name of the channel “Master Gualberto” ... Oops! Then, the mind wondered: “How come, ‘Master’?” We've already talked about this in other videocasts. But, obviously, participating in the meetings, and as it is something that is outside the intellect and the Master is this Grace, then, through Grace, Grace flows. It's a blessing.

MG: It’s so natural for it to happen! This encounter with Grace is an encounter of Grace, in Itself, with Itself. So, when Grace arrives, the intellect also approaches and starts saying things about: “But how come ‘Master’?” and so on, which was the name of the channel, which was always the name of the channel. They put that name on the channel. There are videos here, we have been telling you this. There is no such thing as “Master,” there is only one present Reality, and that present Reality is the Truth of Christ, of Consciousness, whatever you want to call That! This Reality has no name. It is thought that projects characters: master/disciple, guru/disciple, teacher/student.

There is only one Present Reality! This Reality is beyond the known, it is beyond the nameable, the describable. It is the Reality of that encounter with Joy, with the Real Joy of Being, with the Real Presence of Being. And when that approaches, the search ends, illusion ends, real work now begins to take place on an entirely new level, entirely unknown, and it is something that occurs by Divine Grace. Despite this “me,” this “I,” this ego, the work continues, and all the ego can do is keep, still, trying, in one way or another, to sustain itself in its little world, but the Power of Grace, the Power of Silence, the Power of Presence, carries out Its work, and it is exactly this Grace that does everything. But it’s pure Grace, Gilson… pure Grace.

GC: It is truly pure Grace and a blessing, something unspeakable, because there are so few awakened beings sharing Satsang, and having this opportunity here in Brazil, someone speaking our language and being available for Satsang is truly something indescribable, Master, it is a Grace without precedents.

Master, we have a question here from someone subscribed to the channel, Bárbara. She asks, comments this: “Good evening, I’m listening to the videos, watching the videos. I would like to ask you a question: is your consciousness awakened?”

MG: Gilson, there is only one Consciousness, and It cannot be mine without being yours too. In fact, there is only one Consciousness, and that Consciousness is not sleeping. This Real Consciousness is the Reality of that Being that you are. You who are listening to me: you are this Reality; you are this Consciousness. Once you are not unaware of this Reality, you are no longer asleep. But to put it very clearly, a large part of humanity, in this condition of unawareness of their own Being, is sleeping. And if you are asleep, this common consciousness, which I have called “egoic consciousness,” is actually the consciousness that prevails in most of humanity.

Here, we are sharing with you the possibility of Awakening. When That is present, there is no longer this unconsciousness, there is no longer this sleep, there is no longer this model of egoic consciousness operating, producing contradiction, suffering, all forms of fear, all kinds of problems. All of this falls apart when there is no longer this unconsciousness. And here the invitation is for you to assume this, because it is, in fact, your Natural State, the Natural State of all of us! Awakening in this life, assuming this Reality is the only thing that matters! So, as for Consciousness, there is only one Consciousness, and It, in fact, is present.

This consciousness common to everyone, which is the consciousness of dream, of sleep, is, in fact, unconsciousness, which we call consciousness, egoic consciousness. But, the Truth of Real Consciousness, which is the Consciousness of Being, is present, and here we are sharing That with you from this Place, this Space. This comes to your life through Divine Grace. Here, this photo, it is the photo of Ramana Maharshi, the one who, by his Grace, this State is present here, by his Grace, this State is revealed here, in a very clear way. There is no more contradiction, no more suffering, no more problems, because the Truth of your Being does not carry this. So, yes, we are sharing with you, not from a theory, from a belief, from a concept, but from this Space, from this new Place. So, this is possible for every human being, this is possible for all of us. That´s it.

GC: Master, even within this topic, it becomes very clear, when we find the Master – in reality, when this Grace finds us – that the search is over, there is nothing left to look for, but there is this work to be done, this change in the machine itself that is addicted to this model. Can the Master talk a little bit about this process that occurs in the machine, about this issue of Kundalini Awakening?

MG: Gilson, all of this is something natural, which happens very naturally through the Power of Presence itself. So, it's not about the use of practices, you see, of techniques, of effort... None of what is taught to us out there, within these models, in this so-called “spirituality.” We are facing something that is this Realization, which occurs in a very simple, very natural way. All that is necessary is to be open so that, through this Silence, this entire internal process of change occurs. And yes, there is a change that occurs in this body, this mind and, of course, this brain. However, this is not an action that is based on a technique, a practice or a model to follow. This is something that happens by the Power of Presence itself. This occurs very naturally within these meetings called Satsangs, and this, on a daily basis, begins to happen due to the awareness of Self-knowledge, the true art of Self-awareness. So, there is a difference between the truth of Self-awareness and what is called “self-knowledge” out there.

I use this expression here with an entirely new meaning, do not confuse this expression with what you have already heard about self-awareness, in philosophy, psychology or any other science related to human relationships. We are talking about something else. The awareness of Self-knowledge brings you closer to the Truth.

of Meditation. When there is this vision of Self-awareness and this approach to Real Meditation, the Awakening of this Real Consciousness occurs, flourishes within you, and this, naturally, brings about a change in this body, this mind and this brain. This is what the sages of ancient India called the energy of Consciousness or the energy of Kundalini. A change occurs in this structure, in this body-mind, so from that moment on, a new brain is present.

The word “Kundalini,” too, let's understand it: nowadays, people use the expression “Kundalini” in any way, as they use the expression “meditation” in any way or the expression “self-awareness” in any way. So, it is always in any way that people use it, without understanding what Kundalini really is, what Self-awareness really is, what Meditation really is. It's a process, Gilson, that takes place in the machine. This could take days, it could take months, it could take years, and it can take a lifetime! Some only achieve this at the moment of leaving the form, in this so-called “death,” as people generally use the expression. At the moment of death, of leaving the form, some enter Sahaja Samadhi, the state of Turiya.

So, this is very relative, it varies from person to person. To put it better: this goes from mechanism to mechanism, because the Truth of Revelation of this Real Consciousness is exactly the end of that “sense of person” there. So, it's a work on the machine. A beautiful work, but in which the sense of “I,” of the ego, does not enter. It is not about experiences, extraphysical contact or sensations in the body. It’s not that! The classic sign of this Real Awakening of Consciousness, which is Kundalini Awakening, is the absence of a sense of separation between you and life, between you and God.

When there is Real Kundalini Awakening, the sense of ego disappears. Something is present, a new Energy, a new Intelligence, a new Power. We are before Compassion, before Love, before Truth, before Real Divine Grace, there in that form. This is the Real Kundalini Awakening, this is the Real Truth, when this Divine Energy, which is Divine Grace, which is the Grace of God, takes over this body-mind; then, we are faced with Reality, but this is something that occurs, I repeat, naturally, and the intellect does not reach this. It is not for the intellect. In fact, this conditioned intellect is also part of what disappears in this real and profound change or transformation in this structure, in this body and in this mind. That’s it.

Self-image, psychology | Importance of Self-awareness | To deal with thoughts | Non-duality

If there is one thing we have done throughout our lives, it is valuing this model, which is the model of thinking as we know. So, the idea that I have about who you are, the idea that you have about who I am, is an idea, it is a memory that comes from the past, a memory about who I believe you are. You have the same about me.

This self-image, which is the image I have of who I am, is always projecting into this relationship with you what it intends to obtain within this relationship. Thus, our actions – note this – are actions, first, centered on the model of thought. In other words, something that comes from the past and is introduced into the relationship. And furthermore, this pattern of thinking is self-interested, it is self-centered.

So, notice the importance of having a new approach to understanding the Truth about ourselves here. And we are giving real importance to this within this work. I refer to the importance of Self-awareness. We need to have an approach to the Truth of who we are.

See, this is not a self-image in psychology, a mere theoretical or conceptual approach within the science of psychology. So, our approach here is a direct approach, in an experiential way of revealing this self-image, within an understanding of what we demonstrate to be experientially, in practice.

We give up theory and turn here to learning how to look at this, how to become aware of this self-image. Note that not understanding this self-image means staying in life without knowing how to deal with thoughts.

When people ask how to deal with thoughts, they have already realized the problem that lies in this psychological conditioning movement that we carry. Some of us have already clearly realized the whole problem that consists in a life centered on this unconsciousness, on this unconscious movement of thought. Notice, thought in us is restless, it is chatty, it is negative, it is intrusive.

So, how to deal with thoughts? Because this, this quality of thought that we know in this model of life centered on the “I,” on the ego, for some of us it has already become very clear that there is something wrong with this model of thought. So, this psychological restlessness that thought sustains in us, until we learn to deal with it – and dealing with it means exactly putting an end to this condition –, we take it as the most natural thing in life.

This entire movement of thoughts, including these thoughts that produce this self-image – an image in us that is always in a relationship with others, creating problems – while this pattern of affirmation of memory, which is this condition of thought that comes from the past, is conducting our actions in relationships, our relationships will be conflictual relationships.

So, this self-image is not the truth about who we are. It is what we demonstrate to be, what we appear to be, what we actually are in this illusory egocentric identity. This contact I have with you based on this self-image produces conflict, produces problems. This is what we need to understand.

Can we free ourselves from this psychological condition of being “someone”? What we have seen here, within the channel, in this investigation, in this study of ourselves, what we have seen here are verifications of facts that occur in reality, in our lives.

The sense of person is a problem. The relationship between person and person is the relationship between two images. There is no truth present at this level, because what there is, is a meeting between thoughts. Thoughts are remembrances, they are memories, something that comes from the past. Observe this here. The encounter with this instant is a new encounter. Thought is that which, at that moment, appears, but it comes from the past.

This lack of attention in which we, psychologically and internally, live, in this condition of being “someone” in life, in living, in experience, in this present moment, puts us in a condition in which we are always resurrecting this past, giving life to thought. So, thought is something that comes from the past, and we are resurrecting it here.

The image I have of you, the image you have of me, if this is resurrected here, this meeting is an encounter between images. We are alienated from the beauty of this moment, this instant, what is happening here, because we are bringing this programmed, conditioned model of being “someone” to this moment.

So, what have we been doing in life? Sustaining the continuity of psychological time. This psychological time is this thought pattern. Thought in us is not something alive, it is something that has already gone. It receives life, it is resurrected in this unconsciousness, and so we are continuing this pattern of thought.

Thus, our relationships are not living relationships, they are dead relationships. There is no Beauty, there is no Truth, there is no Love. We have some moments of caress, of affection, of care, of care, but they are agreements; agreements between thoughts, between memories.

The fact is that we do not know ourselves, because there is no acknowledgment of the Divine Reality, of this Being, of this only present Being, which is the Reality of God, at that moment. Because the encounter is a meeting in the ego: the image I have of you and the image you have of me.

Thus, we have emphasized here with you the importance of this understanding of ourselves, the importance of Self-awareness. To become aware of how the mind works here, in this moment, in this contact, in a relationship with life as it happens in this present moment.

Our contact with this moment is one with relationships: relationship with objects, relationship with places, relationship with thoughts, with emotions, with feelings, with people. Thus, discovering what it means to deal with thought is to become aware of the end of this quality of thought that forms this self-image.

Notice the beauty of this. If there is an internal state, here, of sadness, of guilt, of fear, of some form of internal suffering, in this contact with you, it will be present. Notice, this contact is a contact, now, from an image. The image I create about who “I” am at this moment is building this internal state here within me. So, in this contact with you, there is no free relationship, in Peace, in Freedom, because suffering is present here.

So, our relationships are relationships between images – images that suffer or images that enjoy an illusory sense of personal, egocentric and therefore separatist pleasure. And where separation is present, conflict is present. This or that form of suffering is present. This or that form of confusion is present.

Is it possible to have a free life, where a Real encounter, on a new level, can happen? In this encounter, there is the presence of Divine Reality, of this unique Being, which is the Truth of God. An encounter on this level is an encounter free from separation, free from duality. So, this is known in India as Non-duality. Non-duality, Advaita, Non-separation, the sense of Being Consciousness, Presence, in this moment, in this encounter.

Here it is about looking together at this Reality that we are, free from this sense of an “I” present in life, in the instant, in the moment, within this experience. What we have been saying to you here is that, yes, a life free of this self-image, this center, this “I,” this ego is possible. This is not a matter for psychology, this is a matter for each of us.

Studying oneself is something we all can and need to do in this life. To become aware of how thought works, discover this art of Being Pure Consciousness. So, dealing with thoughts is something very basic, fundamental in life, because life consists of actions. Speaking here is an action, listening is an action, dealing with others is an action. And in all actions thought is involved.

If we do not clearly understand what thought is, how it is processed, how to deal with it, life becomes complicated, because our actions are actions in which, naturally, thought is always present. Can we get rid of this pattern of thinking that comes from the past and sustains this self-image that is always being resurrected in our relationships? Notice the insanity of it all.

You are always someone new when the sense of being “someone,” here, does not carry this self-image, when this sense of being “someone,” here, this sense of “I,” here, is no longer present. So, this encounter with you without the sense of “someone” here is a new encounter. We are talking about something unusual, unknown to thought, an encounter without images.

What is this encounter? Try looking at a person without the sense of everything you have about him or her, without the entire idea you have about him or her. Try looking without that background. Note: we are facing a great challenge, because the first thing that thought does is, in order to establish itself within its security, it already supports an image, in this illusion of “I know who he is,” “I can recognize who he is, who is she.” Notice the illusion of it all.

We may have been living with a person for ten, fifteen, twenty years – as happens in a closer, more intimate relationship. The husband does not know his wife and the wife does not know her husband. You don't know the children. You don't know them because you don't know yourself. Becoming aware of self-image is putting an end to self-image.

We need to be free from this self-image, because it is this that within us offends others, that hurts others, that sorrows others, that annoys others, that doesn't like others. This self-image in us feels hurt, it feels injured, it feels offended, it feels annoyed with itself. This self-image in us is the conflict in our relationships with others, in our relationships with ourselves. Are you with me?

We are working here on the end of the “I,” the end of the ego, this is the Awakening of Consciousness, it is Spiritual Enlightenment, it is the end of the illusion of “someone” present within living and, naturally, in suffering. A life in Love is possible, but it is possible when the ego is not there.

We don't know what Love is in our relationships, because our relationships are relationships where thought is prevailing within this pattern. So, the past is sustaining our relationships. Thus, the continuity of our disagreements, our contradictions, our conflicts, our fears, and desires, this is prevailing, not only in our closest and most intimate encounters, such as in family relationships, but also between nations, between countries.

The condition of human beings in the world, in life, is a condition of confusion, of suffering, of disorder. Can we go beyond that? Can we discover the Truth of Divine Reality present for a Real, Happy, Free Life, loaded with this Presence, this Perfume, where Compassion, Understanding, and Intelligence are present?

Discovering how you work is Self-awareness. Becoming aware of the end of separation, of the duality between “I” and the “non-I,” this is known as Advaita, Non-duality, the end of this illusion, of this sense of “someone” present in life, in experience. It is the Reality of this Being, which is Consciousness, Biss, it is Divine Nature.

That's the subject here. We have online meetings, where we are, through questions and answers, within a weekend, exploring this, investigating this with you. So, I want to leave here an invitation for you, for in a weekend to deepen this, to become aware of it, to get an approach of what this Silence is with Meditation, with this encounter with this Reality, which is the Reality of your Being.

So, these meetings take place here on weekends. You can find our WhatsApp group link here in the video description to participate in these meetings. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings, we have retreats. If this is something that makes sense to you, here is the invitation. So go ahead and leave it here in the comments: “Yes, it makes sense.” Leave your “like” and subscribe to the channel, ok? And we'll see each other. Thanks for the meeting and until the next time!
