Restlessness and chatter | Uncontrolled thought | Obsessive thoughts | What is the mind?

It seems to me that the most important thing in an approach like this is to find out what we're doing here. This meeting now, here on the channel, through this video, has a purpose and that purpose is to investigate the Truth about who we are. So, it seems to me that it is essential that we strip ourselves away from the approach that we usually do when we open a video to watch or go to a lecture. Our intention here is not to acquire information or to spend some time here using this moment as a moment of entertainment. So, it seems to me that it's crucial that we understand what we're doing here together.

Here, we are undertaking a work together, so it's not a matter of an idea being put to us, a set of thoughts being given to us. Our work here consists of observing what is going on, investigating the nature of consciousness, the nature of the “I”, the nature of the Truth about who we are, that is our purpose, that is our meeting. So, we need to investigate this together, these countless problems we have or what we believe we have in this person we believe ourselves to be.

So, the work here consists of having a direct approach to an investigation. It's about participating in it together, looking at it together. It's not about “someone” talking and someone else listening, that's a misconception. There is a work going on here, there is a work happening and it is a joint work. In this working together, you are looking at what you are discovering here, becoming aware of what you are becoming aware of here and now, becoming aware of yourself, of all this inner movement within you. This is our purpose and it seems to me that this becomes possible when we strip ourselves of our own selves, when we have a new approach to look at, to observe, to question ourselves, to investigate what is happening here. In this way, we make use of this Intelligence, this perception of Reality, this Presence, this way of looking at it all.

So, notice something very important here: we're not dealing with ideas, we're observing evidence, we're coming across facts in our lives. So, this isn't about an exchange of ideas or about absorbing these words and making them one more concept within us, another belief within us. Thus, it's about exploring together these countless internal problems that we have.

It's like going to a soccer match and watching a game, you can just sit and watch the game, you're not one of the players. That’s how we've watched talks, we've watched lectures, we've gone to places to watch as a spectator. In this meeting, here, we have to have something new, and that something new is participation. We need to get into the game, we need to take part in the game, especially because this subject concerns each and every one of us. We have to explore it, investigate it, we have to become aware of it, of this whole process within us of thinking, feeling, emotions, and everything that we, as people, in this sense of being “someone”, represent here in this life, in this existence. So, it's about studying life, getting closer to understanding life. Understanding life is understanding the Truth, the Truth about who we are, about who this “person” is that I have to deal with every day. Not the one outside, but the one inside, the “person” I believe myself to be. So, it's important for us to have a different approach.

It seems to me that we can really overcome all these internal conflicts. I'll give you an example: we have a chatty mind, there's an internal restlessness, we're all aware of this internal chatter, this internal movement of thoughts that we don't know how to deal with. We want to have tranquility, calm and serenity when the mind is busy with its own affairs, and they're not exactly our affairs, they're its affairs. There are moments when you look at yourself and say: “How can I think that?” It becomes very clear to you, if you look at it, that these thoughts are not yours, you would never be producing within yourself a quality of thoughts like these and yet you don't know how to resolve it. So, I see here in this meeting a possibility for us to disarm this internal chatter, this pattern of psychological behavior, chatty, restless, these obsessive thoughts, these negative thoughts, these repetitive thoughts.

So, our meeting here is to resolve these problems, these various problems that we have internally, psychologically. In fact, there are countless problems, all created and sustained by this sense of a present “I”, of an egoic identity. We need to investigate ourselves, this will give us an understanding of life, and in this understanding, we will be able to confront the experience of living here and now, in this moment, without these conflicts, without these internal contradictions that thought produces, that thought has been producing in our lives.

So, let's look calmly and in a diligent, applied, dedicated way at what's going on inside each one of us – this is what I've been calling the approach to Self-Awareness or the Truth of Self-Awareness – and we'll only be able to do this if we're directly honest with ourselves, true to ourselves. That's why we need here, at this encounter, this application, this involvement, to be in the game, to look at what's happening to us now, here, at this moment. So, it's a matter of forsaking ourselves, observing what is shown here to be who we are and letting go of those pieces. So, forsaking yourself, giving up that sense of a present “me,” occupied with its motives, reasons, desires, and fears.

So, in our investigation, we have to strip ourselves away through Self-awareness, in this approach to the Truth of Revelation. It's not the other. In general, we want the other to change, the other to accept us, the other to understand us. If we don't understand who we are, how can we understand who the other person is or, indeed, what the other person needs? Our intention is purely egoic. We want the other person to fit our pattern, our model, so that we can somehow feel happy with him or her. This is something egocentric, it's the sense of “someone” in this self-importance, which is the “me” here expecting, wanting, looking for something from the outside, something from “someone.” This is dependence, this is egoism, this is a very typical, very clear form of fear in us.

So, our relationships are not peaceful, loving, happy relationships, because there is this investment, which is the investment of the “I”, of the ego. So, the work here consists of becoming aware of what is going on inside each of us, in an honest, real, true way. Then, we can strip ourselves of this sense of “I”, of the illusion of this ego-identity, something that is possible when we have a Truth present; this Truth of becoming aware of ourselves, now, in this moment. That's what this encounter is all about.

So, we can't listen to a speech like this as just another entertainment, just another pastime. Here we are studying the Truth about who we are, then we can truly overcome this psychological, egoic condition, then there will be Truth in our lives, because these “our lives” is the understanding of life as it is. Therein resides the end of confusion, the end of emotional, sentimental, psychological disorder, the end to this suffering. This work here consists of that purpose, that goal.

When we look at what's going on in the world, we don't realize that, in fact, what's going on in the world is what's going on inside our home, and here “our home” can be this family, this group of people, or can be this inner movement of consciousness within each one of us. So, all the confusion that is in the world is the confusion that is within the family, it is the confusion that is within each one of us. We represent this confusion in the family, in the group of people we deal with every day, within our home. This same confusion is the confusion that is in the world, so the countless problems we have can end if we become aware of the Truth about who we are. So, this work here consists of the awareness of the Truth of Being that we are here and now. All right?

It seems to me that what is essential for us here is a change, there is a need for internal change, and this change has to happen basically inside us. So, it's this internal change that we need. This apparent need for a change in our relationships, with our family, with the world, with people, is based on a real need. The real need is not for an external appearance of change or an apparent external change, but, above all, for an internal change. When this internal change occurs, the real external change takes place. So, it's an internal change in our mind, in our heart.

We need to look at what's going on inside us. We have to know what the mind is, what the human mind is, how we function, what this pattern of thought, feeling and emotion is within our lives, in our relationships with each other. Who am “I”? Yes, this has great relevance, great importance. So, the way in which we confront or come across these countless problems in our lives consists of understanding, first of all, what is going on inside each one of us.

Not understanding what this mind in us is, this human mind, how it works, if we don't have this understanding, we have no way of confronting or facing these countless internal problems that we have, which are reflected externally in our world. So, it's up to each one of us to discover what it is to study ourselves, what it is to become aware of what's going on inside us. How to put an end to this internal pattern of restlessness, of uncontrolled thought movement. This becomes fundamental because our actions, our behavior, our way of acting naturally comes from this pattern of thinking, but we don't know what this thinking is. We have this internal restlessness, this internal chatter, we have a set of ideas, opinions, judgments, and internal interests; and this is within this model of restless, unbalanced thinking, this chatter that leads us to do things, say things and feel things.

Thus, our actions, whether in speech, gestures, behavior, acting, or speaking, all result in the production of conflict, the production of confusion, the production of greater disorder here, in the life of each one of us. Dismantling this sense of “I,” of ego, going beyond this confusion, discovering the Truth, the simplicity, the beauty of simply Being, a life free of the “I,” a life free of the ego, you get closer to the Truth of Self-Awareness, you get closer to the beauty of True Meditation in a practical way and you discover the Beauty of understanding life, the Beauty of Truth, the Beauty of God.

So, our work here consists of this discovery, the awareness of This. We have meetings here, which are online meetings, and they take place on weekends. In the description of the video there's our WhatsApp link, so you can get closer to it, investigate it with us on weekends. In addition, we have face-to-face meetings, we have retreats and we are working on this with you, showing you the possibility of a life free from this sense of “I”, of the ego. The Realization of your Being is the Awakening of Consciousness. This is our work here on the channel and also in these online and face-to-face meetings. If this is something that makes sense to you, I'd like to invite you: leave your “like,” subscribe to the channel, and come and be a part of it. Okay? Thanks for the meeting and see you next time.
