Here we are together looking at something that is beyond what is easily recognizable. So, this is where a certain difficulty lies for us, within these meetings. Firstly, because our way of communicating here, this way of communicating through words, naturally proves to be insufficient. This is because words are symbols, they are pictures, they are images that represent things. Note that each word is just a symbol that represents a certain thing. Here we are making use of speech, therefore of words that symbolize something.
Now, notice the difficulty we have here: we are aiming through this speech, which are these words that only serve to symbolize something – the word clearly is not the thing itself, that is very clear. The word “love” is not love, the word “truth” is not truth, the word “God” is not God; it is a symbol, an image, an idea about the thing. And here we have the real difficulty, because we are, through these words, which are symbols, pointing to Something beyond the words; not only beyond the symbol, but beyond the entire idea of something to be symbolized. We are signaling God’s Truth. The Truth of God is not the word “God”.
So, our topic here today with you is: Who is God? Or: What is Truth? Or: What is the Awakening of Consciousness? So, these phrases, these expressions of words, for today, here, they do not communicate Reality. But we want to talk to you about the importance of freeing ourselves from this weight, which is the weight of language, the weight of speech, the weight of words. There is a way, yes, to get closer to the Truth of the Awakening of Consciousness, the Truth of God, the Reality about the Truth. Yes, there is a way to get closer to This, and that way is in the Understanding of What we are. The Understanding of the Truth about us is the Understanding of the Truth about the Awakening of Consciousness, about the Reality of who God is, about the Reality of what the Truth is.
However, this approximation to the revelation about who we are requires that we have an approximation to ourselves, in this moment, as we appear to be, as we demonstrate ourselves to be, as we establish ourselves in being in life, in this moment. To investigate the illusion of this being that we seem to be, the illusion of this being that we demonstrate to be. The end to this illusion of this person, who is this “I”, this ego, the end to this is the revelation of That which is beyond words, beyond symbols, beyond images, beyond conclusions and beliefs. Then, we are faced with That which is indescribable, with That which is unnamable. The Reality of God is the Truth of life, This is your Real Being revealing itself. Note the importance of these meetings, in them we have to go beyond language, beyond speech.
Here there is an expression that I would like to use with you, the expression is: “Communion.” All we really need is Communion. Communion is present when there are no longer two. Notice that when we are on the same level of feeling, looking, perceiving, and understanding, when there is the same level, the same intensity, we are within the same beauty, the same encounter. In this encounter there are no two, in this beauty there are no two, in this revelation of intensity, of Communion, there is no separation. So, Truth reveals itself when there is this Communion. The Real Communion with God is not the presence of this “I” uniting with God. It is the presence of a single one Reality here, in this instant. Then, we have the Revelation of Divine Truth.
It's very interesting and I want to touch on this subject now, here, with you... the issue of happiness, for example. For us, happiness is something findable, it is something that becomes possible to be found, and this “being found”, in our idea, in this model of thought in us, is something to be accomplished over time, in time. So, we need time, because with time we will be happy, we will achieve happiness. So does with the Truth, the Awakening of Consciousness and the question of who God is. We always carry this notion of time within us for this meeting. And here this meeting – it has already become clear – is not a meeting between two things: “me and Happiness”, “me and Truth”, “me and God”, “me and the Awakening of Consciousness”.
This meeting is the confirmation of Reality; when there is this Communion there are no two. What we are saying is that Happiness is not something in time, it is here and now, when the “I” is not. The Truth of God is here and now, when the “I” is not. What is this “I”? This “I” is that element in us that we believe we are, that we confuse ourselves with, and demonstrate to be. This element, the “I”, the ego, is the element of separation, of division, of the absence of communion. So, we need to investigate the nature of the “I”, because it is this “I” that is creating this separation! It is the I that is sustaining this illusory being that we believe to be and making us blind regarding the Reality of God, the Reality of the Awakening of Consciousness, Truth, the Reality of Happiness.
So, the encounter with Divine Truth is the revelation of Happiness. “How to be happy?” That's the question. “How to reach the Truth? How to attain God? How to attain Spiritual Awakening?” Note that these are questions related to this issue of time. It is with time; it will be in time that this will happen. At least, that has been our belief. Up to this point, due to all this model of psychological conditioning that we bring, our beliefs say this, and here we are saying that it is not so. The Reality of God, That which is beyond speech, beyond symbols, beyond images and therefore beyond all beliefs – because beliefs are images, they are ideas –, this Divine Reality, this Reality of God is not in time, therefore, it is something that is here and now. However, this sense of the “I” that we bring, of the ego, of this person, of this illusion of being someone, is what shows up as the real impediment to this perception, to this revelation, to this realization, to this Real Communion. It is the sense of a present “I”, of a present egoic identity, the whole problem.
So, what is the Truth of the revelation of Happiness? The revelation of Happiness is the realization of That which is here and now. The truth about this is that the Nature of this Real Being that we are is already this Real Consciousness. This Real Being that we are is the Truth of Happiness. The Truth of this Real Being that we are is the Reality of God in this instant, not the concept “God”, not the concept “happiness”, not the concept “consciousness.” The consciousness we know is this consciousness common to everyone, which is the consciousness of the “I”, the ego. The idea of Truth that we have is the imagination about something of an intellectual, philosophical, religious, or psychological nature. The idea we have about Happiness is something completely wrong, it is in the accomplishment of a sensation of pleasure, in the personal fulfillment of desires, achievements, goals, and dreams coming true. This is the idea of being happy.
We are here working with you on the end of the “I”, of the ego, the realization of the Reality of That which is outside the known. That's why the most important point here is not the verbal, intellectual understanding of these expressions, this speech, these words, because that is only at an intellectual level. We are very attached, entangled, prisoners of words. We get very impressed; we get easily impressed with words. We even say: “What a beautiful word! How beautiful is what you say!”… Understand this: Truth is not beautiful, Truth is Beauty... But the Beauty of Truth is not in the words, it is in the verification of what is beyond the speech itself, the very language, these verbal expressions.
So, we need to discover within each one of us the Reality of this Real Being, which is Real Consciousness, which is God, which is Real Happiness. Our meeting here, our purpose together here within these meetings, is to become aware of Reality, which is the Reality of this Real Being. Learning to look at this internal movement within each of us requires the presence of the revelation of Self-Knowledge. This contact with this Self-Knowledge reveals the art of Being Consciousness, which is Real Meditation. This is a fundamental subject for this Awakening, for this Happiness, for this vision of Divine Reality, for this Communion with God.
So, that's our subject here with you. Our work in life consists of the Awareness of the Reality of That which we are. The only thing that matters in this existence is the Awareness of God's Reality. So, this moment reveals to you the Awakening of this Real Being, which is Love, which is Compassion, which is Wisdom. Our objective in this work is to become aware of this Reality, this Divine Reality. To have an approximation to That which is you, is to have an approximation to That which is the other; to have an approximation to That which is you, is to have an approximation to That which is life, That which is the Truth of this Being, which is the Truth of Happiness, of the Consciousness of God.
